Good morning,

Please Bosses, my crv is leaking oil and my mechanic says they need to drop my engine and gear to know what the issue is. but i think it's the oil seal because this started after I serviced my car. please what can I do, and is there any good mechanic on the island for hondas?

Also, the under engine sand cover does anyone know the price?
your mechanic could be right, if the leak is from the crankshaft seal close to the flywheel.

you should re-scan abs module for errors. You vehicle speed is determined by the abs module through the abs wheel speed sensors.

Honda ATF DW-1.
manual says 30,000miles, but I'll recommend drain and refil every 15,000miles, to keep the fluid fresh at all times.

I did just that and found out my 'tie-rod' and ball joint needed replacement.

On another note, I drained my transmission oil around April last year, is it due for change? It doesn't smell burnt and it's not short
Thanks
what transmission oil did you use?
Car Talk › Re: Help!!! My Engine Oil Indicator Is Showing While The Oil Is Guage by GAZZUZZ(m): 11:41am On Feb 19, 2016
moscobabs:
I was driving from ijoko to my office at berger this morning when I got to alakuko I discover that the engine oil indicator was showing o. my dashboard then I quickly park at a filling station to see what was happening.

I gauge my engine and it was gauge but to satisfy my mind I have to buy another mobile oil to top the oil because I was in hurry to meet a client before 8am.

I started the engine and the light did not show again then I was convinced that the oil was short but after 10mins of driving along abule egba the light shows again and packed it thinking there was leakage . but there was no sign of leakage when I checked . I called my mechanic till now his number is switch off. then I called a driving at roadside who told me that the indicator light is malfunctioning .

I drove the car to Berger like that but its still baffle me

pls Nairalanders what could have happened to the car and can drive it back home cause damages to the engine ?

I will appreciate your responses on this .help a brother
The car is Nissan Quest 2000 model
Gazuzz your number is not available , sienna and others I need your help too.
oil light indicator on, is a signal for low oil pressure. Although a faulty oil switch can cause same symptoms, it should be verified.

Other causes of the oil light indicator being illuminated are, faulty oil pump, worn out crankshaft bearings, blocked strainer, blocked oil filter, dented oil pan, poor oil viscosity.

Hi all, can you please help with this issue or give a suggestion, have got fog light on my bumper that is always, its connected to work with the headlights and not stand alone. problem the bulb usually burns out after a long trip or after a while. what is the possibilty of;
1. getting a good DRL in place of this ordinary bulb to work independently with car starting or,
2. getting a good grade bulb to connect to parking light.
bottom line is i just need the lights to last and work alone independent of the headlights. Any good rewire/tech in house that you can recommend.

Cc: Ikenna, Sienna... thanks (Car is a toyota camry 2000/01)
you can install LED with bulb sockets, the will last a lifetime.

Thanks for your response. The vehicle is a 03 Rav 4. (Its not ECU issue as i have confirmed this). The transmission oil was changed less than a year ago with the Toyota ATF IV. I am trying to know if transmission filter or "gear fibre" can cause this issue as suggested by the two mechanics.
your engine ecu has damaged your transmission. You will require a new engine ecu, and a new transmission or a transmission fix.

Comprehensive insurance in Nigeria is a different ball game in comparison to internationally accepted practice. Only those who have attempted to get indemnity after a loss either by accident or theft can understand the nitty gritty of such process owing to unscrupulous practice by insurance companies. You will run out patience waiting for their endless investigation. Again, some of the conditions for comprehensive insurance are difficult to accept, except you work with a big organisation where they can relax most of those conditions. For a single individual, it's usually not as straight forward as they often present it.

Also, the industry is not properly regulated so obtaining indemnity is a function of your ability to influence. More so, our judicial system is a big mess where almost always only those with might get justice.

It would be difficult to explain until you live in Nigeria or try to obtain something in Nigeria, only then, will you understand that the sound of the bitter kola is not synonymous with its taste.
you can always get public sympath, by giving them bad publicity, e.g. the above happened to my car and gazzuzz insurance refused to pay claims. There is also a regulating body you can run to if you are sure you are working within the limits of the contractual agreement you entered into with the vehicle insurer to ensure your claims are paid. Finally for an old car, it can be valued accordingly, e.g if he had valued this car for 500k, all he had to pay was 5per the value of the car which is 25k and that value will depreciate every year. 25k per year takes care of paint work, scratches, stolen electronics, accidents, and in case of theft 500k is the value of the car, worst case you walk away with 400k. There's no reason not to insure comprehensively.

Hello All,

My car`s transmission seems not to be engaging the second gear. I noticed this yesterday when the car revs so high when its trying to pick up speed with a very sluggish movement. Although the transmission fluid is still at the right level, at a point the ATF light on the dashboard came uon and I added a little more ATF but the problem still persisted. I also observed that where the road is free and am able to keep my leg on the accelerator, the vehicle revs so high for a while and eventually engages another gear which makes me to believe that its skipping the 2nd gear and moving to 3. When I put the shift stick in D2, the vehicle moves normally except that it cannot go beyond a certain speed around 60-80km/hr and the sound of the engine is quite high.

The first auto mechanic I met said its the transmission filter and that it needs to be changed alongside the ATF while another guy said its the "transmission fibre" that needs to be replaced.

please i need the input of professionals in the house. Thanks.

my opinion will differ, you have a door switch that is not making proper contact, once this happens car will assume one door was opened and alarm will be enabled. Removing the battery from your remote will not fix the problem, but if removing the batt from your remote has solved the problem, then you might have a compromised circuit in the remote, might be a regular case of fluid incursion into the electronics, somthing a quick clean can solve.

I'll advice you leave your ogas car alone sha.

you should insure your car comprehensively to avoid this kind of story. You are lucky he hit a pole and did not hit another vehicle, or kill somone. There is nothing the police can do, he will walk out a free man and you will go and fix your car.
