Madam, I am 10 years now in this institution called marriage n there r many that senior me commenting here also. Please, I plead with u to save your home from collapsing due to your family influence in your marriage. Truth be told the moment you got married to your husband your responsibilities have shifted from your parent to your husband, your husband has nothing to do with your family financial burden. He can from time to time assist them but it is not mandatory for him to do that. Apply wisdom in this whole thing before you make your husband lost interest in you.

Ningen:
Stay put. Don't accept the new offer.

With no job security and it's only a slight salary increment, it's not worth risking your stable life.

I believe free accommodation will be invalid the moment you're fired, so it's not really a perk.

I will strongly recommend that you go with the above advice. State government jobs nowadays r not what you think they are. Your current place of work is more of a professional environment than the government which is more of political dealings. Continue where u r cos u will grow professionally n the experience n exposure in that financial institution will elevate you to a higher position in similar place tomorrow with the relevant papers, but government jobs mostly state or local government only prepare you to become a liar, a lazy person n a corrupt individual. I speak through experience because I have tested both the two.

Career / Re: Should I Resign From This Job? Pls Help Me by gbagyiza: 6:24pm On Jun 14, 2020
bigtimemugu:
Gudnoon Nairalanders, I have been working for a company for 35k per month for 12 months no increment. I have been promoted from one position to another without a payrise.

Late may this year my salary was increased to 50k with a whole lots of task, I work Monday to Sunday, 7.am to 7pm some times down to 9pm.

1st week of June a similar company based on recommendations invited me for an interview, they offer to pay me 120k, which I insisted on 150k, finally they agree to pay but when we went to the business place, it is a little beginning business that I have to grow from the scratch in an isolated area. I began to reason if I opt out of my present job and venture into this, how long will this payment last, if the business folds up, where will I start from?

In my present job it might take another 12 months before another increment but I can work there as long as I may wish to work cos it has job security.

Please advice me am confused and I have family with kids.

Based on my experience I advise that you continue with your present job n forget about this new one. I repeat don't work in a newly establishment that don't have future unless if you r jobless. A word is enough for the wise.

Both have their ugly part. Stories like a single lady drank sniper n died because her boyfriend dumped her, a young man hangs himself because his girlfriend abandoned him is peculiar with the single. So, both the single n the married r in it big time but I must confess that the single has a little window to easily pullout of any relationship that is faced with challenges than the married. So, to round it up the single enjoy little bit over the married because they can easily break up.

Good news but sad enough I'll advise them to stay and work in diaspora because if they come back to Nigeria corruption and embezzlement would not allow them see good jobs because the money allocated to the railway would have been embezzled and by then getting a visa back would have been more stranious with the rising numbers of Hushpuppis calling themselves hustlers

My thought is similar to yours. They have been decieved n misled to go n study railway engineering.. A course that has no value in Nigeria, soon all these promises they made to them regarding government effort to put our railway system in place, will soon die naturally n then their eye will clear. I advice that they look for opportunity over there n forget about Nigerian government because our government is known for it lies n deceit.

But the course he studied in the university sound suspicious but who am I to judge cos i don't have evidence to support it.

Properties / Re: Sending Money Back Home For A Project: What Has Been Your Experience? by gbagyiza: 11:38am On Jun 05, 2020
Officialgarri:
Same thing is happening to a guy. He keeps sending money to his family to build a house for him but the project was so slow compared to the amount he has been sending.
His siblings kept squandering the money.
He sent home a bus full of clothes, his eldest brother dissapeared with it.

Now, he met a lady online with the promise of marriage. He started sending money via this girlfriend because he doesn't trust his family.
Not knowing the girl is only subtle demon too.

For everything he wants to buy, this girlfriend will double the price and till now, he's still sending money till now.
The lady's family are also aware and encouraging her to drain the guy.

This is not an hearsay, the lady is my friend grin

I was in my bedroom reading your comment and I can't stop laughing. This guy don enter one chance. If his blood brothers can do this to him, then, who else can he trust. I am from the North but I work in south west, I am currently undergoing a house building project, from the purchase of the land n up to the current state of the project, I only send money to my brother n dad for the project n they have honestly executed the project well. The last time I visited home n was taken to the site of the project, which was in plastering stage, I was impressed. It has to do with the family. My family members r well discipline, humble, trustworthy n couple with their Christian background, they r not the desperate type. So, we always have confidence in each other. If an outsider will do that fine but for a blood family member, it's too bad.

Never give up on your dreams. I had a similar experience studying... From university of Uyo to the University of Nigeria.
To God be the glory for the courage to take a deep breath and try again.

You see reason many people prefer to school oversea than here in Nigeria. How can a school offered admission to a student n when the student is about graduating, the school claimed that the admission has issue. If it was questionable, why noticing it late not earlier? It means something is wrong with our system here. Recently the same university informed some of its students to go n apply for change of course after they were offered admission n most of them had already done their registration. Which nonsense is this? We r not serious here in Nigeria.

Politics / Re: DPR Paid 8 Billion Naira Salary Upfront In January - Premium Times by gbagyiza: 7:22am On May 28, 2020
olaNL:
Hmm. Though the money seems quite large, but there are two ways to look at it. You might want to say that the salaries of the DPR staff is on the high side for civil/public servant and the same goes for other high paying public institutions like NNPC, FIRS etc. But you also have to look at the practices of the industry under which the institution operates. The oil industry is known to have high salary benefits to its employees all over the world. So if DPR and similar government agencies decides to pay it's staff what non oil related industry are paying, it will not get required technical manpower to perform it's operations most especially in the top management level and it will generally have a high employee turnover as its staff will port to private oil companies that pays will at any given opputunity.

And the writer of this piece does not understand what upfront payment is. It's an accumulation of benefits that is given once a year and at the beginning of the year and it varies across the seniority level. So it doesn't mean that all the employee got similar upfront some might have gotten more while other got less than what was stated in the article above.

Ok, how will you justify the fact that oil price has crashed n still they r to be receiving the same benefit. No now, they should be paid according to the price of crude oil, when it goes up, then there pay will also go up, when it comes down, their pay be cut also.

Don't deceive yourself, ask why this is coming at this period, it's simple, the economy is down, government income has drastically fallen, so they r taking this decision to prevent a total collapse of the system. Mark my word, this step will not favour anybody under government payroll because many will lose their jobs, ministries allocation will be reduced. Workers from agencies that pay well will be equated to those that earned lower salaries n many workers will be shunned the way out base on the allegation that they r ghost workers.
