THE recent applause of the emergence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, is said to be causing ripples in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Findings by Saturday Tribune revealed that the national leadership of the PDP is not comfortable with the comments credited to Babangida at his Minna, Niger State home on Thursday, while speaking with journalists.
According to media reports, the former military president expressed joy over the emergence of the APC, saying that it was good for the political development of the country.
Babangida was reported to have claimed that his position on the desirability of a two-party system in the country when he was in the saddle, which led to the formation of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the National Republican Convention (NRC), had been justified.
It was reported that when asked whether the development would not pose a problem for his party (PDP), Babangida retorted: “PDP or my party? Which one is my party? PDP was my party,” and was said to have declined further comment on the statement.
However, it was gathered that the leadership of the PDP was concerned that such a statement could come from a respected elder of the party.
His comments, it was gathered, are being viewed as a confirmation of earlier speculations that Babangida was one the brains behind the formation of APC since he had failed to get the PDP’s nod over his presidential ambition which dates back to 2003.
“We are worried as a party if IBB actually made those comments on the emergence of APC. I think the national secretariat of our party needs to get in touch with the Niger State chapter to confirm his membership status so as to know what to do with him. The constitution of the party is very clear. To me, this is anti-party,” a PDP chieftain told Saturday Tribune in confidence, in Abuja, on Friday.
“When we read the report of the IBB’s comments in the dailies, we thought he was being misquoted as a supposed leader of the party and that one of his aides or himself would quickly refute the report, but nothing like that has happened so far. Then, we don’t need any soothsayer to tell us that he is not with us in the PDP again, but now on the other side,” the party chief said.
The source revealed that the fear of the party was further heightened by speculations that loyalists of former President Olusegun Obasanjo were also planning to quit the PDP en masse to the APC in expression of their grievances against the leadership of the party.
Though the National Publicity of the PDP, Chief Olisah Metu, could not be immediately reached for comments, another chieftain of the party said that there was no cause for alarm as the party’s national leadership was capable of handling the matter and “put IBB where he belongs.”

Ogbeni Einstein, can you tell us the religious faith of those Boko Haram has murdered in the largest number to justify your warped logic? Those cold-blooded butchers slay everything and everyone. Your offensive comments are always so redolent of a discriminatory and prejudicial mind.

@Topic.

Why should these guys worry about Boko Haram when they all know the score? Nigerian politicians all know the unspoken truth many biased Nigerians are too emotional to handle. Our politicians are not as sentimental as those they lead. These guys all know Boko Haram is now a PDP affair i.e a tool disgruntled PDP elements are using to fight the PDP Government of the day. Their message is "we wll move around Nigeria freely. Let those fighting each other worry about each other".
PoliticsRe: Bill Clinton Tells Goodluck Jonathan To Step Up by Gbawe: 1:51pm On Feb 28, 2013
No surprise. All world leaders and expert observers are now openly clamouring for this very "underwhelming" President to up his game. It is only in Nigeria, destroyed by ethnic disunity, we enjoy running away from the truth. Perhaps Clinton is Yoruba and David Cameron Hausa since, according to some, every criticism of GEJ is driven by the "hatred" the Yorubas and Hausas/Fulanis have for him.

sholesky: jonathan boys on nairaland are alredy scared of tinubu n buhari alliance...weda u bliv it or not, even ur oga GEJ knows dat this two guys combination is the greatest threat the PDP can never contend with...APC ALL D WAY...SAI BUHAhi/tinubu progressivs bulldozers
They are but they should come out with believable things instead of talking in ways that makes the world view us a fraudulent people all devoted to talking dishonestly and as if openly afflicted with madness. How can anyone, except a brainwashed "see-no-evil-from-mine" tool, keep calling Buhari a terrorist when the Party mainly associated with terrorism in Nigeria today is GEJ's Party? Did GEJ himself not confess that Boko Haram has infiltrated every level of his Government? Are Buhari, Tinubu, El Rufai et al in GEJ's Government? What has Buhari got do with those arrested for terrorism so far i.e Konduga, Kabiru Sokoto, the PDP gun-runner affiliated with the VP, Senator Ndume etc?

Also, which is the home of the biggest crooks in Nigeria to justify the big lie of some that they are scared of a Fashola Presidency because he will be controlled by "Tinubu"? What looting is Tinubu coming to do that can be greater than what is currently being looted by the greatest congregation of looters on earth with several of them already convicted such as Alamayeisegba, Ibori, George, Igbinedion et al?

When N2 trillion, perhaps half of our annual budget, was looted under the PDP , through the fuel subsidy scam, how mad do some sound claiming to fear the opposition when the worst and most unconscionable looting is going on already under the PDP? What could be worse than what we are seeing now and where is similar being witnessed in Nigeria. 14 years as well !!!!!!

Is that not the talk of madness? I.e giving the insane and childish excuse of "Tinubu" to deny what is, in reality, a laudable coming together of the best Nigeria has to offer? Anyway, which sane mind makes the APC about Tinubu and Buhari alone? Will those two divide themselves into 20 clones to control every position or will they be relying on the Utomis, Fasholas, Ribadus,Oshiomholes, Fayemis, Aregbesola, Falanas, Okorochas, Ngige, Okechukwu et al?

when those who focus on Tinubu and Buhari , using them as excuses not to support the APC, are then also the same characters who support the PDP that has been plundering Nigeria for 14 years with the GEJs,IBB's, OBJ, Danjumas, Kalus, Atikus, Odili, Ubahs et al then you realise all their nonsensical talk is just a thinly-veiled mask hiding how they are simply committed to supporting GEJ, and all the evil associated with him that is greater than that seen with others, because of nothing but outright clannishness.

What can you expect from a lunatic aside garbage that does not make sense? If the APC is full of "illiterates" then a totally new category must be created to quantify the lack of education and dearth of ideas afflicting many in the PDP.

Yet, what ,aside madness, is responsible for a supporter of the Party that is home to the biggest crooks and terrorists calling others criminals and terrorists? You are simply talking to mad people who don't do reality. You just don't know it. lynpetra: You sound less intelligent too.You are asking a question that even a mad Nigerian have the answers to.No insult intended but my answer simply translate the fact that in Nigeria power and wealth are relative in response to Tinubu source of wealth. In Buhari' s case,he took over from shehu' s govt forcefully because of the high level of corruption ...
Look, don't waste your time with that mad, attention-seeking fool. I have laid out the problem of people like him above. It is therefore a waste of time entertaining treacherous, confused and clannish drifters like him. They would all be better served confessing the real reason why they cannot support anyone aside GEJ, even if he ran the Country into the ground , than continue disturbing us with their half-baked excuses that leaves sane mind without doubt about how mentally disturbed these people are.

Nigeria needs rescuing and clannish folks are best ignored. Those sort support and vote clannishly. This is why they continue to utter garbage that makes no sense in the face of the reality on the ground. Nothing is to be gained wasting time with them because for all their attention-seeking talk, and assuming they even register to vote, they will still 100% march to the polling booth to vote GEJ even he has totally run Nigeria aground by the time the next election is here.

Billyonaire: I will support APC if one can tell me the prudent answers to the following questions and it falls under the ambiens of the Law:

1. Why did Buhari truncate the Democratic Government of Shagari through Coupe d'e tat ?
2. Where is Tinubu's source of Wealth ?

These 2 are the ones spearheading the APC.
You still don't get it. The APC does not want your support. You and others are merely clannish noise-makers and attention-seekers. You will rather die and be interred with GEJ before you support anyone else. You go around uttering garbage that makes you all sound mentally deranged. "Buhari is a terrorists" yet non-Nigerians conversant with Nigeria will view such talk as coming from brainwashed minds given that it is the Party of GEJ producing all the terrorist yet you clannish twerps will never accept that because from birth you have being programmed to see no evil, however glaring, with anything/anyone you are affiliated with. To that end, you can ignore the biggest sponsors of terrorism, because they are linked to GEJ, to be shout "Buhari" insanely.

You will also scream "Tinubu" all day long yet GEJ and everyone around him, to include his wife, are the biggest and most morally bankrupt crooks Nigeria has seen. Virtually no Nigerian politician is upright yet non-Nigerians, like some of my Ghanaian friends who know Nigerian politics, have the displeasures of seeing you people ranting against Tinubu all day in a show of self-deceit that suggests to them that you are not 'well'. Many of them, even if not Nigerian, still remember the most corrupt Nigerians to be the likes of IBB , a PDP supremo, who pocketed over $12 billion from the gulf oil windfall. All that matters nought to you clannish, deranged and self-deceiving people when you shout "Tinubu".

The APC would be mad to court or be interested in confused and clannish folks like you. Many of you should stop flattering yourselves. We know what you are and what motivates you. That is why you can accuse Buhari of things that GEJ's Party is now almost exclusively known for. That is why ,in a nation being looted blind by cavemen-like crooks who give nada in return, you round against Tinubu who is certainly a man of ideas and a positive light all thing considered in relation to what Nigeria is. People like you should simply get lost. You are all mad.

You are committed to supporting GEJ. Accept that and stop coming here trying to patronise others with excuses that just makes you all sound like 'nutcases'. When you wonder the source of wealth of Tinubu, why not wonder the source of wealth of GEJ, Anenih, Anyim, Kalu, IBB, Danjuma,OBJ, Bankole, Abdulsalami, Andy Ubah, Odili, Ibori, Igbinedion and the many, many crooks in the PDP you support by default? Silly hypocrite. Just confess your clannishness means you must support GEJ automatically and blind yourself to the baggage he comes with and that you wish to pretend only others are afflicted with. Doing so is better than the pathetic inanities you guys regurgitate here daily that simply makes you appear insane, unstable and highly delusional.
Yes bro. I am enjoying this new Fashola. Nigeria is approaching a make or mar situation, there is no longer room for self-preservation especially for those that hope to lead the nation one day.

#Oju awo la wo fii gb'obe#
My brother, you are 100% correct. It is to the benefit of Nigeria for the likes of Fashola to shun apathy and boldly present themselves as viable alternatives. The bar will be raised above the heights of the GEJ's of the world because the good work and leadership charisma of the likes of Fashola speaks for them.

Also, the foisting of regressive establishment men on Nigeria by the OBJ's of the world, keeping it "business as usual" for a few and misery for perhaps 90% of the populace, will simply not be possible again once the Fasholas of the World begin to decisively register their interest in top offices.
PoliticsRe: Federal Government Complicit In Fuel Subsidy Fraud - Fashola by Gbawe: 5:36pm On Feb 27, 2013
skyfall: Yea I agree with you. I like this political side of Fashola I'm seeing. It's a sign of good things to come in the near future.
My brother, exciting times for Nigeria. We all have to understand that our latest democratic chapter began in 1999. OBJ was the first beneficiary. He was a mediocre President in my opinion and selected to protect the like of IBB with more atrocities to their name than Michael Jackson had hit singles.

Naturally, with tonnes of skeletons to hide, OBJ also felt handpicked 'mumu' stooges were the best in Yar Adua and GEJ. Yet experience, in all cases, has now shown all kingmakers that nothing worse than going to give very powerful positions to undeserving men who would never have ordinarily made it that far on their own.

It is clear these 'accidental' leaders, owing their Presidency to malevolent kingmaking than ability, are the worst type and most likely to mess everything up everywhere. Everyone is now aware they come with no benefit at all to anyone. Better to utilise the approach of Tinubu and empower performers everywhere.

After GEJ, unlikely Nigeria will get another p1ss-poor, indecisive and dithering President in future. It will be as obtains in Liberia, Ghana, Botswana et al where the Presidency has a standard of merit that must not be breached or compromised by the GEJ's of the world.

So GEJ and his embarrassing wife should eat all they can. It is the last Nigeria will see of disgraceful 'Dinosaurs' like them. As obtains everywhere to the positive benefit of other nations, Nigeria will begin to have Presidential Presidents and not the aberration we see where some are at liberty to foist the worst, most disgraceful and most undeserving on us. The experiment with Yar Adua and GEJ probably had to happen to make Nigerian fully understand that we will get nowhere with accidental Presidents and undeserving, unprepared mediocrities. Everything about those types is bad including their wives !!!

Soon we will get to where other African nations have gotten to whereby it is very difficult to get a very poor Presidents.

PoliticsRe: Like Barcelona Like Nigeria by Gbawe: 2:42pm On Feb 27, 2013
What a silly analogy. It can only come from how us Nigerians have an arrogant overestimation of our worth and importance. We are now so attention-seeking, perhaps because no one pays us any attention any more, we make ludicrous comparison bereft of any contextual integrity.

Barcelona is a football club playing football as it should be played and as puristically desirable as possible. They are allowed to have an off day or even a bad patch playing football as everyone who wishes the game well wants it to be played.

What on Earth can then make anyone compare a footballing philosophy built on excellence and bearing fruit, with a trophy-laden club cabinet as evidence, with a nation that is a pathetically poor example of misrule, lack of leadership talent and the concept of fielding Winston Bogardes everywhere instead of available Lionel Messis? OP, make your point without trying to drag a model of excellence into our morass. Otherwise we might as well conclude Selfridges having a poor month means the Store is now to be compared to a vegetable stall in Karachi owned by an illiterate thief. Barcelona , as a football club, is not in trouble. Meanwhile Nigeria, as a Nation, is.

I don't think Fashola has any interest in declaring a war on Lagosians because of their ethnic origin. I am sure Fashola, as a decent Nigerian leader, takes his examples from the best examples that obtains worldwide. If law abiding, then Lagos remains home to upright inhabitants and visitors to the State. If a criminal (whether Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Ijaw, Chadian, Beninoise or Ghanaian) then Lagos should be made unwelcoming for you.

PoliticsRe: Federal Government Complicit In Fuel Subsidy Fraud - Fashola by Gbawe:
I love the new politically combative Fashola. His talk here, even if correct, is a political statement of intent. I am now convinced a top 2015 APC political role has been pencilled in for Fashola going by how the Lagos governor has upped the ante as an open critic of the FG lately. We all saw Ribadu doing precisely the same thing in 2010-2011

If there was a criticism I had of Fashola, it was his hesitancy to fully define himself as a politician. Now he is doing so. Very important to perform but also important,if you have top-level ambition, to be visibly charismatic, for good or bad, in Nigerian politics . All GEJ's gra-gra will come to nought because he will be the last accidental President Nigeria ever has. The old boys are running out of steam and their machinations , since 1999, that made it possible for their unprepared, uncharismatic and dour stooges to lead Nigeria can no longer endure in this day and age.

Things have changed and the leaders of the future will be opinionated and resolute men like Fashola, Amaechi, Ribadu, Aliyu,Okorocha, Oshiomhole, Aregbesola, Fayemi et al. Whether folks like these guys or not, I personally identify them as the next generation of Nigerian leaders because we are entering an age where Nigeria, forced to do so by evolution, will conform to what obtains elsewhere i.e those who plan to lead, plus have the ability to do so, get to lead.

The days of promoting mediocre embodiments of establishment docility (Yar Adua , GEJ, David Mark et al) into top offices will be over soon. I have to thank GEJ for unwittingly hastening the extinction of his own kind in the top tier of Nigerian politics. It is all for the best because ,either way, we need opinionated and resolute characters leading Nigeria and not gradualists who do not stand for anything at all.

My brother, some don't realise the mileage GEJ got last time with his will he run or not deceit. This time, not only are folks sure he is planning to run but they appreciate that GEJ has shown it is war. Let us not forget this is the same Party aptly christened a "nest of killers". Anyone who thinks GEJ has won and others will take this lying down, because of some deference to the office of the President, is a big fool. What deference did they show to GEJ's office when they decided to undermine him with terrorism?

When others respond to GEJ's dictatorial antics he wants to use to prevent the PDP ticket being democratically thrown open to all, that is when you will see the crybabies coming out to lament and weep over the actions of others while they conveniently forget all that GEJ did to draw any reaction seen. One thing is sure. Nigeria is destined for better things in 2015 because it seems events have contrived to ensure the worst elements in our politics will now face each other with all they have. A chance for the APC to just be calm, calculated, united and to appeal to the hearts of Nigerians while others embrace brawn, terror and all manners of destructive machinations.

babapupa: It's a free country, start your own thread to discuss all that, it's not like they forced you into this thread to read and post anything.
Man mi, fashi the pessimists and negative "how does this feed all Nigeria" crowd. As if some of us should not discuss ventures that are essentially private sector driven any longer simply because many Nigerians live in poverty caused by the Government.

Personally, I have a keen interest in built environment and I especially like how West African Nations are now coming around to the concept of optimal renewal/development of coastline. Throughout the world water is regarded as aesthetically pleasing to plan development around. Below is an interesting project in Accra on a stretch called the beach road and close to Ghana's top premier hotel La palm. I'll be there shortly and will bring real pictures here. Progress is going on well and it is great to see.

La Beach towers, Accra.

We all know that coastlines are utilised optimally and marketed expensively throughout the world and I don't know why some negative people can never appreciate that.

PoliticsRe: 19 PDP Governors To Decamp To APC- Senator Yerima by Gbawe: 5:18pm On Feb 26, 2013
Vogue50: The PDP governors cant be this clandestine and scared of a newly formed Political party . Senator Yerima is lying ! " He that is down needs fear no fall " unfortunately, APC is scared already without putting up a good fight.
Can you not see what is terribly obvious to note it is not about the fear of the APC alone? With GEJ's dictatorial antics it is obvious that the message is "the PDP Presidential ticket is only available to the incumbent". Thus presenting only two choices to some PDP Governors.

Stay, fight and depose the incumbent or move elsewhere. Some may choose the former others the latter. What is foolish is for anyone, even if a die-hard fan of GEJ, to pretend PDP Governors and stakeholders will all just be pacified/bullied to accept GEJ's treachery and open dictatorial conduct to be cajoled into going along with Mr.President's 2015 "do or die" ambition.
