Bigdoo11: Thanks for your response, but I may lose the GA and the tuition waiver if I defer to spring. Also I have defer 2 times now which is the maximum deferal for my school. This means I will even have to reapply for admission. Has anyone been in my shoes please..this is sooo frustrating
If you read through the other threads, you will realize that you can get an appointment if any is available. Keep searching and I hope you get a date soonest.
It's time for the reawakening of Africa. In my opinion, we need good governance and also, break the boundaries given to us by our European colonial masters.
anamo: I have lived in the US for two years before I left, I’m trying to come back now and I already have a visa in my hand (Glory to God). However, I’m divided between settling in Florida and settling in Baltimore MD. But anytime I mentioned the idea of Baltimore, people make it looks like anyone that stepped there is gonna be dead in a jiffy due to high crime rate. I’d really prefer B-more but I’m scared. Is crime that material that it’s almost a guarantee to die by merely landing in Baltimore?
I mean do criminals literally go from house to house killing people without you doing anything to hurt them at all?
Considering you are coming for studies, I think the school where you think you will enjoy more should be your choice. University community/district are usually very safe.
JaySterling: Hey guys. Can I get married in the USA if I’m currently married in Nigeria?
My wife and I are separated though, due to some cheating, which I can’t talk about here
I’m currently in the states on a b2 tourist visa and I’ve found another woman who I’m deeply in love with. I proposed and she said yes.
Just curious on the bolded, was this when you were in Nigeria or after you traveled? Did you ever cheat on her before you noticed she was cheating? I am asking because he who comes to equity, must come with clean hands.
Thought some were blaming exchange rate for the rising prices of food. Truth is we need hold the government to true governance otherwise, this will continue as the government keeps borrowing and not improving the economy.
What a time to be and live in Nigeria. With the continuous depletion in economic power, the youth and middle age are busy arguing over and defending those putting them and their future generation in perpetual pains. It is very unfortunate and I am convinced this wouldn't change as we have the clowns come out to tell us how the deterioration going on will favor them and their family members.
ruffhandu: Thank you my brother. If I am in charge, I go very low, I no send anybody because nobody feeds me.
Yes, she makes fresh juice every morning for their lunch in school. The kids got tired of the fresh juice that they ignore it and return with it sometimes. Now she buys other drnks like yoghurt, chocolate and milkshake. Said she will be alternating them so they still drink the fresh juice when she gives them.
She complains i am too strict, and sometimes go for cheap things at the expense of quality. Always blackmailing me with the kids' health. That was why I withdrew a bit, before I'll be blamed if my kids fall sick. But, no be naija we dey? They still fall sick once in a while. It was in that regards she stopped them from drinking any other water but Eva.
I know some of these are not neccessary, but I just look away sometimes in order not to be 'too' strict'.
For comparison of standard, it's a NO. She knows nobody dares that in my house. Na she just set the standard, which if allowed, i will definitely lower it. Once in a while we dey clash, but you know how e dey be.
Oga, in it all please make sure you have enough savings for the rainy days ooo. This kind woman fit ask you say upon all the money wey you dey earn, how come you no get savings. Have you also thought about bulk buying? That might help reduce the cost both of food stuff and time. In it all, handle it well and be firm if need be without being blackmailed. You have every right to ask for accountability and if anyone resorts to name calling, do not let it bother you. Lastly, try to help the children understand the current day Nigeria reality. Let them understand that they are privileged and not look down on others who they may think are not in same class as them. Make them realize the need to be humble and accessible and make them a bit street smart.
Silentgroper: what's a black soup??, the only black soup I know of is shitan.. The Ghanaian black soup
I think different people have different soups they call black soup. In Nigeria, the Ondo and some part of Edo people particularly, Ikale have their black soup cooked with Eweta leaves. Some other part of Edo have their own that is a mix of Scent leaves, Bitter leaves and a mix of other vegetables. In this case where I have to improvise, I use Scent leaves, Bitter leaves, and Spinach.
I don't know how to haggle prices and avoid it as much as I can. During my undergraduate days, I used to think I was doing great because I try to think about prices from a Lagos perspective. A friend followed me one day and a piece of fish that I buy for N30 he priced it for N10. Since then, I will tell him in class if I need go to the market. He was sometimes pissed because he thought I was wasteful since I buy so much and I go to the market frequently.
I don't think it is because I am shy because I am reserved and not shy. I think most times for me, it comes from a place of empathy perhaps, because I feel they are going through much stress selling under the sun.
At some point, I wouldn't buy things for my younger sister when I started working because anything I buy is always too expensive in her opinion because I do not haggle prices.
That said, haggling is different from bargaining. I can bargain for a fair income because there is an industry standard and average which usually is my start point and I put my reasonable percent above it.
This doesn't feel right in my opinion. This act is the reason they spend state money the way they want. If a governor can approve a bonus that wasn't in the budget, he can do whatever he wants with the state funds.
How did you guys go this on for 9 years? Were you at any time married in the real sense of a marriage? He isn't willing to be responsible and you aided him for too long. Can you guys go for counseling to determine your best option and how well to cope with it?
Eriokanmi: Leave them. One day, they'd look into the mirror and begin to see their wrinkled eyes and grey heir all over their beards. Then they'd realise how much they've ruined their lives cos of bigotry. Sadly, those they're supporting don't give hoots about their life and future.
I saw a video on twitter this morning where the guy representing Ada Constituency in either the state or national assembly was beaten when he visited his constituency. It was an indicator that the hunger is real and people are getting conscious that these guys are not keeping to their electoral promises.
Ours is a policy somersault and isn't econometrically/data driven. This government is filled with jokers who are not sure what they are set out to achieve from the onset.
We generally lack love and do not have love in our heart to offer. Since when did children become something to hate? What matters most is why she is a single mother and if she has addressed her flaws.
Eriokanmi: Finally, Guinness broke the ice. No more speculations. They're leaving for another African country, sadly just like others who left last year did.
No multinational will ever come back once they leave. Nigeria is collapsing before our very eyes cos of bad leadership
Unfortunately, the youth and mid age that should be more concerned are busy fighting themselves over trivial issues such as tribe. The current leadership isn't showing any concern for their failures and we who should hit the streets are busy fooling ourselves. It is well.
cococandy: Elon pushed these vehicles out before they were ready. I don’t know if the software has been fixed now but at first (in independent testing) they weren’t able to detect little kids randomly crossing the road. Maybe he had a recall and fixed that issue or not but I can’t trust my life to someone like that who doesn’t listen and only does what he wants. You know if you randomly crush a child because your self driving car didn’t see it, the parents can’t go after Elon and his billions. They’ll come after the driver and their insurance. Because they’ll say you’re ultimately responsible regardless of the type of car
I think we are still in some form of test phase and I am hoping we get there sooner.
naijamanyoutube: Can the Tesla Self-Driving work well on the Nigerian roads?
I’ve been testing the Tesla Self-Driving software here in Las Vegas, Nevada for sometime now and I made a video about my experience. You can see the video below.
The software did a good job, but it was not perfect, it missed the ramp to get on the freeway, but it was smart enough to reroute itself and join the freeway using another ramp.
The roads here are better organized than those in Nigeria, but I’d love to hear what you guys think about self-driving cars in Nigeria.
When will self-driving car full Naija?
I know the road in the video very well, that is East Sunset right behind the airport.
As for self driving, I am not sure how comfortable I am with that right now. Maybe as the software keeps getting updated, it will get to the point where I am comfortable cruising in such vehicles.
FreeStuffsNG: Smh. You are not beholden to a girl who is your friend, especially platonic, what he is implying made no distinction between altar- bound relationships and even platonic relationships and if you are wise and starts with the end in mind, you will know relationships that will likely make a wife out of your special relationship with a girl. To that special girl, you will at some point in time be her 'parent' likewise she to you.
BTW, you don't need to understand for now. Serious relationships take commitments and sacrifice and those two are the essential ingredients in parenting so anyone telling you that you will not make exceptions for that special one is not being realistic.
Love , when you really fall in love, will make you trusting and vulnerable. If you're not then you are not in love. Maybe you are suggesting that he tells his son to never fall in love with a girl niyen. Check my signature for free stuffs!
Oga, stop trying to explain wetin no work na. If you are in a committed relationship, you do not assume the role of a father/mother. A marriage is a different ball game compared to relationship/
