emiye: Many of the old schools are best pulled down, no point refurbishing those "poultry houses".

the primary mandate was to take all necessary steps to build and deliver within 24 months:
•100 elementary schools (2,100 classrooms);
•50 (62?) middle schools; and
•20 high schools
Impressive

Like I said, the enemies of the Yoruba race are bewildered and so shall they remain because they've not seen anything yet

Even the residents of the state accusing Ogbeni here have attested to the fact that he is getting things done. You get uniforms for N1,500 and you're complaining, try a private school then. You buy uniforms for N1,500 in a term and have text books free in your Opon Imo. At $10 per term, you won't get this quality of education this cheap anywhere else I assure you.

I'm sure the non Yorubas that have never been to the state before now or even now and accusing Ogbeni will deep within their hearts wish their governors could do just a quarter of what this progressive governor has done

PoliticsWhich States Have Developed Since 1999 by geeez(op): 5:04pm On Oct 01, 2013
Since the fourth republic began on May 29, 1999, states in Nigeria have witnessed democratic governance

To this end, there have been several administrations in respective states, charged with the responsibility of making their states better than they met it

In Lagos, for instance, the IGR, when Bola Tinubu became governor, was N600m per month. However, the concerted efforts and improvement of the socioeconomic landscape, the state has succeeded in attracting investments and today, the IGR stands at almost N30bn every month

Today, the state can stand on its own and even support a number of other states in the country

I've travelled around and seen changes in several states but the question remains:

Which Nigerian state has witnessed the greatest advancement in the fourth republic? From the GDP, to the IGR, to the employment rate, to its per capita? These figures are connected with other parameters such as health, infrastructure, education and security as these factors influence investment decisions.

So in a reality/actuality check, can we rank Nigerian states in order of advancement in the fourth republic from where they were when the military handed over in 1999 till date
PoliticsRe: Aregbesola’s Massive Looting Of Osun State by geeez: 4:38pm On Oct 01, 2013
olaezebala: Just like I always say wen it comes to Osun state issue on the Forum, if u don't live in Osun den pls don't comment based on what u read online else "God will work in ur life the way Aregbe is working in Osun".

All what the OP said is true especially on the Opon Imo, school uniform and collapsing of schools. Presently Osogbo will have only four (high) school.

He's about to commence demolitions of schools. Africa Grammar school along Abere road has been demolished with the claim that his proposed east by pass will pass thru the school.

One of the best public secondary school (Fakunle comprehensive High school, osogbo) will also be demolished to pave way shoprite. The students of the school protested but ogbeni denied the allegation then. Using his words as he said in ogbeni till day break, "only an insane government will demolish a school to build a Mall". Now, all the students of the school have been distributed to other schools prior to resumption in october and he publicly announced the demolition of Fakunle school.

This November will be his third year in office and he hasn't commisioned any project. I won't deny the fact that he's working on many things but we all know they are meant for his re-run campain. "Vote for me to complete what I started"

Local governement activities are dead presently as Ogbeni took over their affairs to the extent of paying LG staffs salary directly.

Those are what osun people are facing and I find it disturbing wen some Lagos based mofos come online to say trash based on what they read online.

I'll say it again, please if u don't live here in Osun state don't comment else God will work in ur life the way Aregbe is working in Osun state.
You admitted he's doing some things and no one can fault that

I was in the state last year for up to a week and I saw a marked improvement from what it was like under Oyinlola. I have very senior members of his cabinet as friends and when we sit to talk, its obvious they understand the issues and are working with a roadmap

No government is prefect but undeniable progress should be applauded

Merging schools and introducing a common uniform is meant to save cost. Why would you have two schools with 500 pupils each when you can have a big school with 1,000 pupils and save cost of teachers, teaching aid and maintenance of infrastructure? There are also a lot of private schools in the state causing a drop in public school enrolment.

No government in this country (apart from Ekiti) has even given students books in computers. If you feel aggrieved that you know some people who haven't picked their Opon Imo whereas their schoolmates have, you can direct your issues to the Ministry of Education and if it isn't addressed, you can come here to rant

The distribution is in phases from what I know and its free for students in public schools while those in private schools will have to pay for it

This project is saving parents the cost of having to buy text books and new bags every term. It helps the students study ahead and I believe we will begin to see the results in the students' grades in another four to five years in national and international examinations

This man is light years ahead of Oyinlola and he has done better than many had hoped

An increased IGR from N300m to N1.6bn in 3yrs is not achieved at the push of a button

In southern Nigeria, the state's GDP for 2012 was fourth, behind Lagos, Rivers and Oyo

I love the criticism which I believe should be constructive and make Ogbeni work even harder but looking at the economic indices above, including being the state with the least unemployment rate, you just have to give him some thumbs up

Wake me up when they turn the sod on your biggest pipe dream

A state governed by Nigeria's worst performing governor

Just show me one landmark thing that is worthy of note that has been achieved under his administration in 6yrs and I will show you two of Osun's in 3yrs

Oyo, Lagos and Ogun are too big to compare with that ramshackle, erosion ridden, poverty ravaged, ill governed, backward moving forested streets where garbage are like footpaths

Osun State (N1.6bn) generates more than twice Abia State (N650m) in IGR monthly

Chinom: I'm all for the bolded. I live in Lagos. But please bear in mind that what happens in Lagos has no bearing whatsoever to you and your fellow Yoruba people from Oyo, Osun, Ondo etc. Same way, you cannot ascribe what happens in New York to any particular race, colour or creed of people that inhabit it.
Lagos is bigger that your myopic self. That it happens to be located in SW of Nigeria is insignificant. Afterall, it has to be located somewhere.
I'm from Lagos but its not happening in Lagos alone where IGR has grown from N600m in 1999 to almost N30bn per month

Ogun State has grown its IGR from N730m 2yrs ago to N4bn per month

Osun State has grown its IGR from N300m 3yrs ago to N1.6bn per month

Ekiti currently generates over N1bn per month in IGR

Abia State generates N650m monthly while Anambra does N450m monthly

Osun State for last year had the fourth highest GDP in southern Nigeria after Lagos, Rivers and Oyo

So its not a Lagos thing but the Yoruba progressives at work

And increased IGR is a function of development because its either more companies are opening and producing or you've increased your taxes

The latter cant be true since companies are bound to shut down or relocate if you increase your taxes arbitrarily

FreeGlobe: That has not been confirmed. Until we see the mall I don't trust Lagos media.
So its the Lagos media that posts and edits Shoprite's website?

Your moniker, Free Globe, proves there's a lot of free space between your ears

Meanwhile Shoprite in Tayo Amusan's Polo Park in Enugu is making what ...?

A second Shoprite will be opening in Ibadan before the end of this year and it will be bigger and better

Ogun State will most likely get its next year and I also tip Oshogbo to get one next year

You laugh at us for celebrating Shoprite but remember the fanfare that greeted the opening of Shoprite in Enugu

The five times I've visited Enugu this year, the Shoprite Mall was scanty, even on a Saturday. Does this explain why they've not opened a kiosk after that?

If you sit down and think, you will realize that the joke is on you

Enemies, oya view this picshur

Okay we've heard but that didn't stop the state from having the fourth largest GDP in southern Nigeria for 2012 behind Lagos, Rivers and Oyo

It also didn't stop the state from increasing its IGR from N300m to N1.6bn per month in less than 3 years (Currently the state with the third largest IGR in Nigeria after Lagos at almost N30bn and Ogun at N4bn monthly)

Yes Shoprite is a big industry that open in places they will profit from
