Suffersmile or whatever, those are not Nigerian police forces but volunteers to the Kwara state Government to assist the police locally in the fight against insecurity. Obviously they expected to be paid salaries but the Kwara state Government says there was no agreement to pay salaries from the beginning.

Spot on! Exactly on subsidies. But you might not really need to remove subsidies. Reduce it and monitor it better than ever. Improve revenue and spend some of it on subsidies instead of borrowing money to spend on subsidies like they've all been doing.

But wait o. I thought Buhari and Tinubu said subsidy was a lie when campaigning against Jonathan. You see why this people can never run this country well.
This is why I don't take all these political smears and campaigns that seriously. To opposition parties, Governance is bread and butter, when they get there they become something else.

Well, look at this from DMO.
To me
From$10bn to $33bn is a lot compared to Jonathan. External debt only.
Debts are problematic of course but they are not our biggest problem at this time. Our biggest issue is tax collection and revenue expansion, for example expansion of modular refineries should have been taken as first priority by this Government alongside electricity.
In terms of revenue, there are several ways of expanding our revenue base. Check out this report from Airtel Africa and how they are making a killing in the Nigerian market (despite operational costs from diesel operations due to electricity issues).

The Nigerian arm of telecom operator Airtel Africa has pushed its earnings to $425 million, approximating N182.33 billion on official N429 per dollar exchange. The Nigerian operation also helped the group to repay $450m of debt.

This is bigger than what they made in all of East Africa combined. From thesame report it says:

Nigeria’s growth was more than that of East Africa, which grew by 14.1 percent, and in Francophone Africa by 11.7 percent.

We currently service debt with about 90% of revenue. As at December 2021 debt was about$80bn. Six months after it's about$90bn. And something doesn't tell you we are headed for the precipice?
The debt in naira is certainly high, but in dollars Buhari hasn't really borrowed much more than Jonathan. The thing is that as the naira falls, our naira economy has also grown larger simultaneously. But everything is eventually balanced out in dollars.
Buhari increased the debt from 64 Billion dollars to 100 Billion dollars currently, but in naira it is from 15 trillion to 41 trillion naira.
Our trade have also increased in naira by almost 3 times as well.

Buhari's Government like the South Korean Government seem to be more inward driven, caring much about boosting naira supplies and making our exports cheaper irrespective of what happens to the currency but unfortunately his policies favours an already diversified economy like South Korean and we are not yet at that level. You have to leap before you fly.

No where was it mentioned that Simon Ekpa should be targeted and arrested by the Nigeria govt..nothing at all about his destructive activities and you want us to believe your write up of pretence?! Why’s there so much silence from the FG and state govs on their stance on Simeon Ekpa?
Kanu also, would not have been arrested if he didn't step foot into Nigeria immediately after requesting for guns from the diaspora. DSS simply waited for him to step into Nigeria. I am sure DSS knows a lot about Simeon Ekpa already.

Strategic meaning sustainance. This is a project that will likely not be completed next year. While we are facing immediate economical and poverty challenges.

It is better to solve the current challenges than going for a large project that will likely suffer because of the current challenges.

A father investing in a project that will yield dividend in ten years time when he can't feed the family or pay medical bills or rent is not being economically wise.
I agree. Baba I think say you be Gaduolar and messi for only sports oo, I nor know say you be politician too grin.
But on a serious note though, expanded working modular refineries would have been a smart option.

Which economic infrastructure? Don't bring up the sgr which was started in 2013 before he got to power.
My bro, PDP started many things and campaigned with many things which they abandoned. Better to finish as many existing projects as possible than have a huge backlog which we always had. However Lagos-Ibadan railway was started and completed by this Government. Buhari also have started some things too and left halfway so far but in my opinion PDP was worse in this regard.

Where I am disappointed however, is that Buhari's Government couldn't create many modular refineries with the private sector. At least Diesel should be specially made available through modular refineries for the Aviation sector.

There is food crisis, huge burden on subsidy, lack of jobs, lack of power. Solve projects that will make massive economic impacts but no, these people will tell us infrastructure will boost economy.

You are now taxing people that you did not invest anything into to continue feeding their fat lifestyles.

These guys are pure failures and it is baffling that there are youths trying to defend their gross wastage.
You have a point though. We should at least have a modular refinery that takes care of just Diesel for the Aviation sector.
The matter tire person sometimes.

The Government can not boast of going into partnership with private Modular refineries to boost their capacities and establish more.

This is eight years and we are waiting for a project that will kick off after they have gone.
I just told you Waltersmith refinery was completed and another one ( most likely in Kwale) have been completed. Waltersmith is functioning, the one in Kwale has no oil field supplying it yet but it was also completed around April I think.
Waltersmith is currently undergoing expansion to boost it's capacity.
First 3 years of Buhari I agree was more or less a complete waste. Buhari was also too slow in some aspects as we came out of recession.

We are in a financial crisis today due to the gross wastage of this Government and lack of planning.

Like the Government borrowed us into a position that our crude revenue accounts for nothing.

So literally wasted our resources and people are applauding them.

The only solution is to keep taxing us because the Government did nothing to move us forward economically.

A hint. Channelling part of the allocations into boosting the refining capacities of modular refineries for instance would have created a cushion for Subsidy and reduced pressure on our Forex exchange.

Investing in large scale Integrated farms to produce high demand crops in mega scale would have eased cost of food.

Instead they are sinking N210 Billion on Bridge.
A hint. Channelling part of the allocations into boosting the refining capacities of modular refineries for instance would have created a cushion for Subsidy and reduced pressure on our Forex exchange
Logical enough. I think a few modular refineries like the Waltersmith and another one in Edo ( both not more than 20000 bpd) have been completed. Others were given license to construct but it seems a number of them did not start. However, the PortHarcourt refinery rehabilitation to 60000 bpd by 1st quarter 2023 is on course.

Investing in large scale Integrated farms to produce high demand crops in mega scale would have eased cost of food.
True. Security challenges must be solved quickly enough in my opinion. However, there are large rice projects, one in Lagos and the other in Katsins and several interventions in the agricultural sector by the CBN.
We now have the second largest cassava processing plant in the world (from the private sector). There are palm oil fields now in some parts of the country. Government definitely should have done more though.

Also gas projects are also important, because gas solves revenue problem faster as well, even more than oil.

Buhari messed up his own legacy by allowing the Fulani herdsmen to have free run of their nonsense up north and spreading it across the nation thereby hampering agricultural production, and institutionalizing terrorism. Apart from that he turned a blind eye to corruption in his regime. Look at the case of the accountant general for example. Then the mismanagement of forex. The list is endless.
True, you've made very good points.

Buhari messed up his own legacy by allowing the Fulani herdsmen to have free run of their nonsense up north and spreading it across the nation thereby hampering agricultural production, and institutionalizing terrorism.
Security and the politics surrounding it is first of all local. These are things local Governments or councils up North should have nipped in the bud before they grew and spread.

Apart from that he turned a blind eye to corruption in his regime. Look at the case of the accountant general for example.
Yeah my guy fvcked up eventually on the so called fight against corruption. He started well but lost momentum along the middle. Dunno what went wrong.

Then the mismanagement of forex
This is one area the Buhari administration should have really done better in, but let it also be known that from mid 2014 the forex was bound to go down. Infact Yaradua and Jonathan depleted our reserves from what used to hover around 63 Billion dollars to about 29 Billion dollars as at the time Jonathan was leaving. Our reserves were used to sustain the currency as well. When Buhari came, the reserves were already too low and currency was already on a free fall. But Kama caught up with Buhari and APC because they also used the freefall of the currency to campaign against Jonathan then as well grin.

With rising debt? ECA funds depleted, no strategic economic advancement project done. We should clap hands for the economic destruction because they wasted funds that could have been used for financial growth to build bridge.
The AKK gas pipeline is one of the most important project any Nigerian Government would embark on in my opinion and it is getting to Kano already. It started late 2020 and the pace of work has been fast tracked by the completion of the Warri Itakpe rail. So how then can you say boldly: "no strategic economic advancement project done"?
We slowly came out of recession in 2017 and also went to recession in 2020, so where do you expect funds to come from for projects without borrowing? When our monthly FAAC shared between Federal Government and a states have hardly surpassed 700 Billion naira most times? In 2016 it went as low as 400 Billion naira.

Factos, IMO. Buhari has laid the foundation for Nigeria's economyic prosperity.

He has been one very unlucky fella.

Resuming his tenure battling insurgency in the N.E, to unrelenting attacks by The ND avengers that plunged Nigeria's oil production to <1mb/d, to the 2016-2022 years of low oil prices, compounded by CONVID and lingering disruptions of oil production by vandals.

Barring any uncertainties, His admin would complete the AKK has pipeline which in my opinion is his most significant project, it would drive productivity and propel the economy it would greatly enhance socio-economic stability especially in the North.

The industrial sector would come alive again, piped gas would evolutionize Nigeria's economy which would largely be gas based.

He has been able to weather the storm, the political class were running helter skelter after the revenue crunch post '16, alot of States and FG prioritized agribusiness, they'll be riping the rewards in the coming years.

Palm oil production has impressively increased(Nigeria did not suffer from the ban of exports of cooking oil from Indonesia) which suggests a certain degree of self sufficiency

The well known rice revolution has paid off(self-suffiency attained)

There are ambitious programs for wheat, maize, and sorghum.

Nigeria would be energy sufficient by next year, and NNPC has successfully lobbied the International community notably the E.U to adopt gas as a green energy source(Nigeria has $63trn of proven gas reserves)

another boom is coming, let's hope our political leaders have lent their lessons, and bring the much desired transformation that we need in this country.
Buhari definitely has been unlucky. Yes he has made some mistakes too, but I like his model of what an economy should be built on. The man has spent more time trying to complete old abandoned projects and resolve administrative bottlenecks, both the ones by PDP and even the military as far back as the 1980's.
Talk about our Airforce and Navy as well, the reforms. Oh my God.
It's painful that majority of the youths only see Buhari for his weaknesses and part of that should be blamed on having a person like Lai Muhammed as information minister.
