I get your point and it's actually a beautiful thing to encourage more women into tech. But imho I think that trend has basically neglected the men in tech (at least the ones just starting out), we're lost in trying to get more women into tech and refused to see the other side of the coin which is the male gender. I've seen guys give up on tech to pursue another career due to the struggle and no little encouragement whatsoever. Have you ever heard about a male bootcamp or gadget giveaway strictly for males ? NO! There are also jobs where males are under represented, HR for instance, and not a single place have I seen "get more men into hr"
It is a fact that in tech, women are less interested than men generally and this could be due to cultural factors that make it seem like a man's job primarily. The idea then is to encourage more women and make them develop interest first and then we see from there. However, I get your point that it should be done in a more tactical manner and not at the expense of men who also crave for such opportunities.
For instance, I support opening more female IT training centres than we have to see if we can spark their interest, but when it comes to the job proper ( even for entry level jobs), I'd prefer no favouritism. Let the best from amongst the Male and female get the job, but let us do more to introduce tech to more females at the grassroot level because the gap between males and females in IT in terms of numbers is huge the world over and especially in Africa where cultural bias also plays a significant role.

She code camp shared laptop to all their members. Boy are on nairaland crying for laptop. Coding on phone. Coding on 30k laptop suffering and fighting to escape poverty no help from anywhere. Once you realise as a man that you are alone in this world that is when you have waken up.
It's not really about a man being alone in this world though. I think the idea is to encourage more of the women folks. The thing is women have been discriminated for centuries and seen as the property of men and as people who can't be as smart as men. So giving free laptops to women is to encourage more women into tech so as to dispel those barbaric notions in society. It is possible that we are missing out a lot from not having so many women in IT.

The last time I checked, men have had it easier in so many other ways and have not been so underrated in history due to their gender like the women have.

yeah, i have a mauritanian beloved friend whose looks middle eastern as sand claiming to be a Nigerian. both her parents are non nigerian, but theve been here for long but how can the law affect them when there is also a tribe(shua or something) in kaduna- i think they are a mixed breed of fulani and arabians- so yellow and damn beautiful. you cant just pinpoint any one in Nigeria as an African foreigner. its not possible.
This is because of how diverse Nigeria is.

Here some of the reasons (out side Economy and population) why Nigeria still remains the Giant of Africa grin grin grin grin
1- Giant of Africa in Banking
2- Giant of Africa in Agriculture
3- Giant of Africa in Tech
4- Giant of Africa in entertainment-and-music
You are very correct.

Almost all Ghanians I've met speak Twi, so I guess Twi is the dominant language right?

Pity, how the actions of few cripple the reputation of the remaining lot. Now, i have to explain to everybody that my non fante looking face, and accent came from my Nigerian mama. Goddamn my brain for not understating the damn language yet.
Even in Nigeria, foreigners are committing terrible crimes but in Nigeria it's very easy to mix up all blacks as Nigerians, so the media doesn't dwell too much on that. But I found out this is not the case in other African countries.
That being said, I think both the Nigerian and Ghanian immigration system is damn too weak. About 70% of the foreigners who commit crime are illegal immigrants. We would reduce crime from foreign countries by a whole lot if we work on our immigration department and take data seriously.

Unfortunately when Ghana decide to deport those who stay more than 3 months, people starts crying that Our immigration does not want others from the region to stay in Gh.
Fvck those people. The law is the law.

So your brain could not tell you both Nigerians and Ghanians can claim multiple passports and some charlatans can stay in a country without documentation? They could be from Togo who knows?
The point is: Crime is Crime irrespective of Nationality but the media loves sensationalism.

If you are replying to the first part of my question, my answer is this:
The immigration in African countries have to do better. People coming on visit visa must be monitored and not stay beyond three months. If you check properly, most of those guys may be there illegally ( Ecowas or not).

It is not uncommon for some africans to claim they are Nigerians when they commit crime. Also it is strange reporting to me that the first thing the Ghanian media reported was their nationality. Media sometimes love propaganda.

Even now Nigerians complaining still spend over 20 million naira sponsoring themselves or their children to the U.K to study. More than any African country, Nigerians patronize the expensive universities of the western world.

My friend a lot of Kenyans keep patients in the bank and they have money in the bank even their social security is tied to the banks. Kenya is not Nigeria at all. The property which you own is validated by the banks. Kenya's banking sector is very strong and robust. There is social security insurance debt security housing security and a lot of things which are validated by the banks. Kenyans keep a lot of money in the bank even if they don't keep money they're asking her who is tied to the bank because of security and insurance. But in Nigeria none of distance exist only empty mount. Kenya the banking sector is the foundation of the economy. Go there open your eyes and see
Nigeria actually has one of the most developed banking and fintech sectors in Africa. I don't know about Kenya, but if you don't know anything about the Nigeria you are criticising, I'd say you keep quiet. Why your brain dey pain you like this naw?

You have been left behind. Going to ghana no be big deal, you don't have any investment and you won raise shoulder, who you won intimidate helloo.
Even Dangote at a time in one of his interviews spoke against leaving too much money in the bank.
Even Jesus in the parable of the talents was against the man who decided to save his one silver coin without investing it or putting it to work. The parable makes it clear in the end that even that which the poor man thinks he has would be taken away from him while the rich would keep getting richer.

Just said Nigeria's economy is collapsing that is the best thing you can say because I don't see how people would be doing business without transferring money into the bank. I do not see how dealer's house rent and everything will not be paid into the bank for god sake the country is broke and a sinking ship
They are transferred into the bank but are not saved in the bank for a long time. Money should not stay in one place. They are being withdrawn all the time for various purposes. Leaving money in a bank for a long time doesn't help, it does more to enrich the banks using your money to give out loans.

Jesus so what Nigerians are digging holes in their garden and keeping money inside the homes. So bank account is no more relevant. I wish the Ghanaians could hear this they will start laughing even this one is worse than informal sector no bank account grin
You nor just sabi anything at all. Saving money in the bank is poverty mentality. Truly rich people don't leave money in the bank, they make use of the money and allow the money work for them. People who lack are more interested in saving in a bank, and the bank makes use of their money. Value and services created and multiplied are more important than saving in a bank.

as an Expert?
Read this job advert below for instance. It's an example of the adverts you'll find a lot on indeed and linkedin. Masters as a qualification is usually required even at entry level. But there are many jobs that may also take just a Bachelor's degree or Ausbildung ( vocational training).
Ausbildung (vocational training) is popular in Germany and enough for mostly technicians not engineers in the academic sense.

All the jobs I see especially for Engineering require masters. More like 80%.
Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.

This was what I was driving at someone very clever said i should keep quiet! I did two years there I could just see how life will be tough if I was to settle there with little or no German.
To be honest, things have changed within the last two years. Germany now accept lots of Tech guys who can't speak German at all and it has been massive this year.
In 2018, your arguement would have been much more valid but not 2021.
