All Universities— theocratic or otherwise— award certificates to individuals who have proven themselves worthy in CHARACTER and in learning. Break what they consider as “Character”, you face the consequences. And these goes for Universities outside Nigeria as well.

There’s no need to critique a University for doing what they signed up to do. Instead, and fully, the blame should go to the student(s) who fell foul of a simple rule.

If we want to be honest, this explanation is as simple as it comes. Why is there always a pushback, when it comes to holding people accountable, especially in Nigeria?

Some things are not excusable in the African society; and public display of sex before marriage is considered one of them.

It doesn’t mean it has to always be that way - but it is what it is.

I want to believe the Schools decision is as a result of the social media outcry - and to serve as deterrent to present/future students not to indulge in a public display of sex.

If you ask me - nothing wrong with this decision. An institution is free to determine the standards they expect of the students they give their degrees to. It’s all about reputation.

You cant make up rules as you go, because that by definition is lack of standards. The school had no rules that covered sex OFF-CAMPUS and therefore based their decisions on emotions not substance.

Also the school as a Christian Uni are not upholding their duty as a member of the body of Christ. Our duty is to win sinners over not cast them away

4. The university claims to be saddled with the responsibility of making Nigeria great right? By inference sexual purity is the prerequisite for greatness right? Developed countries have a large number of sexually active youth. They all have very low birth rates as well as low rate of HIV prevalence (sex education and access to health care) and are all great by every human development index.

5. I have also read Babcocks rules and regulation and nowhere did it address having sex off-campus. It does mention that association with members of the opposite sex ON-CAMPUS is highly prohibited.

6. I will like to see what rules she must have broken that warranted her expulsion. This why no one takes Nigerian education seriously.

7. The university should be investigating whoever leaked this video for violation of privacy but this is Nigeria where hypocrisy reigns supreme.

Fire stations do not prevent fires, they put out fire. Reducing the frequency of fire outbreaks starts by

1. implementing and enforcing safe building standards.

2. Regulating how these markets are built and run.

3. Educating Nigerians on fire safety.

4. Reducing the need for individuals to move flammable contents including petrol, liquefied natural gas canisters , kerosene and diesel.
