ajl: You see the problem you have is this. You are giving advise through your own context or experience. You said people as young as 25yrs. Here we are talking about someone who is probably in mid-20s or early 30s that is just coming from Nigeria. And you want to compare that same person with native Australians or someone from an immigrant family living in Australia or who moved there, already got an education there. Is permanent resident in Australia automatic if you school there? Will you get job right away after living school as a foreign student. Put context in your response. While you are more concerned about people back home not thinking you are living a tough life in Australia, I am more concerned about giving advise on all possibilities. I do not care about what anyone thinks about how I live in Australia at all. It doesn't bother me. I give my advise because I know for a fact that for an average Nigerian graduate there is more prospects for them in Australia than NIGERIA. You can ask anyone who lives in Australia. Yes currently it is getting increasingly difficult to settle in Australia on a permanent basis but that was never my argument. We were talking about economic upliftment |

ajl: How much of that $70k remain in your bank account at the end of the year. And that $70k is the gross income before tax. What's the net income? Look beyond the immediate numbers. Australia has high income tax rate. Biko is there anyone in Nigeria that has 15m in their account at the end of year that is not a CEO? How many businesses in Nigeria make 15m in profit per annum? $70k is income before tax, it is an entry-level position, salaries grow. You can start your own business, getting a loan is easy. To each their own, if you prefer Nigeria, your choice. For me after living in 2 different countries, I sure know that Nigeria is not in my plan as a place to raise my family. I am only challenging the prevailing notion here that people living in western countries are suffering. What you term suffering is even less stressful than an average dude that lives on the mainland and works on the Island in Lagos |

ajl: I can only laugh. Let us analyze your lie very well since you think I am based in Nigeria. I wish I can give you my name and do a search on Google with it. So, let us list typical monthly expenses and you list the amount you pay for each. What's your annual tax?
Mortgage or rent, health insurance, auto loan, auto insurance, day care for kids, property tax (annual), Annual home community tax (for property owner, if any), life insurance, utilities, internet/phone; you can add or remove from the list based on Australia context.
To clarify again, the comment you read gave one side of the possibility while a second comment I gave after also gave another (possibly rosy) side. Point is how many % of Nigerians get to that rosy side. You don't just give a one side rosy picture. Give both side because not everyone would have your level of perseverance, hardwork or foresight. At a point in my life in West, I was at a six-figure income. It took over 15years of investment of time and hardwork after first-degree. And there are no guarantees. Please learn how to advice people the right way. There are lots of immigrant Nigerians living tough lives. I am an immigrant who lived in Australia ,UK ,currently in Nigeria and will soon be moving to Canada. Your salary in the West depends on the country you live , the type of work you do. Starting salary at Google is 100k , Amazon 120k for a software engineer. A Nigerian doctor in the UK just bought his house after two years. Nigeria cannot be compared to any western country in terms of opportunities, I can confidently tell you that. Like I said, I made my first million(naira) within months of living in Australia. I lived in Melbourne for 3 years. Made over nearly 300k in those three years, got a degree to booth. Could have made a down payment for an apartment if I wanted to. Unless and immigrant is in the West illegally it doesn't take too long to settle in. So biko stop deceiving you people |

If it was that easy I wonder what so many Australian professionals are doing in Western Europe earning far less than that figure. What most Australians have told me is although lifestyle/beach life in many parts of Australia is great and income is decent, life has become very expensive in the last 20 or so years.
They are in Europe not just for "change of environment" or "to experience another culture or education". Most moved looking for opportunities. Entry level software engineer in Melbourne earns $70k. Go and confirm then come back and apologise |

Australia has one of the highest minimum wages in the world. Most jobs in Australia pay far much more than what you'll earn anywhere in the world doing the same job. ajl: You are surely lieing. How many Australians can go to school to pay $60k AUD without student loan or family support. Did you go there as an immigrant with permanent residency or someone who just flew in with a visa and became an illegal immigrant. There is no lie in my comment. How many native Australians have $55k (AUD) in their bank accounts. I am not saying that it's not possible to attain high income in the West but what percentage of Nigerians have achieved that with genuine wealth and 100% assets belonging to them and not the system.
I made another post where I said you can even make your to earning $200k per annum but it's not guaranteed. I know what I am saying because I've been there. Do you know how many years you need to invest to achieve that and what it comes with. At the end of the day the system will take back most of the money. Someone who have the same job in the oil industry in Nigeria will come in to buy a house cash down while you in Canada is still paying mortgage.
Even the personal income tax rate in Australia could be up to 45% in Australia. So better give credible response. I lived and worked in Melbourne. Young people as young as 25 lived in their own apartments and were doing well. Continue believing that everyone outside Nigeria is suffering oo |

ajl: N15 million is approximately $55 000 (Canadian). You will be surprised that 90% of Canadian don't have that amount of cash in savings. Most don't own their homes until they are around 55-65 years because the houses belong to the banks until mortgage is paid off. In fact most dont have or own assets. They are just regular Joe with piles of debts on their head. But they do have better quality of life because of a working system. Though this does not guarantee happiness. So, if I were you, I will invest in a low risk business in Nigeria and be patient to grow that money. The only reason I can advise any youth to travel abroad is to get better education, get a little experience and work to become independent. Chances of being rich is very small. Only a very, very small fraction of immigrants have achieved that. You will just be okay with lots of debt until near old age. Be wise. I paid 60k AUD is school fees in Australia without getting one kobo from Nigeria ! Stop lying to young people biko |

15 million naira is about 55K CAD. I am not conversant about Canada but I know making 100k AUD (24 mill) in Australia is easy and you can save up to 40k per year. Nigerians love to dampen others resolve. For all those talking about bills overseas and taxes, how do you think the roads are maintained overseas? Do you not pay bills in Nigeria? Do you all live ren't free and have free food? I will repeat my assertion, after bills and rent, most people I know in Australia still manage to save up to 40k per annum. Like every other country, if manage your finances well you will have more money in the bank. You don't need to buy a new phone every year or change your car every two years or buy new clothes every month. Statistics still show that Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world. You can Google yourself before you claim that people overseas are suffering Last update ooo, to each their own if you feel Nigeria is better and you are happy stay there. If you feel everyone living abroad is suffering believe that. I am tired of all these mentions telling me that Nigerians are richer than people in the West. A country where there is evidence of poverty every direction you look. |

Except you are insinuating that most Nigerian men are not kind . The jury is still out on that one but I strongly reject the notion that MOST Nigerian men are not kind. Most signifies a majority and that isn't true at all. Another issue contributing to this factor of increasing number of father who abandon their kids is the dire economic situation in the country. Nigerian men are highly sort after by women from other countries around the world |

A father who simple felt since his was divorced his duty to his child ended. This one is even a known celeb o. I still strongly suggest that marrying someone who is kind is the best path. A kind woman and man will most probably make a success of their marriage. If the marriage fails for some reason their divorce will probably not be nasty One thing I have personally noticed is that most feminists have lost their kindness on the altar of the god of feminism . |

She's saying alimony benefits both men and women and na lie. In 2017, U.S Census Bureau said 98% of people receiving alimony were women. In as much as it can be argued that the West has become gynocentric in recent years, it does not mean that divorce laws need not be strengthened in Nigeria. Do I like divorce laws and child support laws no? Is it being abused? Yes every law has loopholes but it does serve it's purpose and that giving women who are genuinely in danger an opportunity to leave their marriages and have a decent life afterwards. Anyone who argues that women dont have equal opportunities in Nigeria isn't wrong but the truth of the matter is that everyone in Nigeria is as oppressed as the next person. Nigeria is simply a lawless country where anything goes and so more laws to protect women won't even change anything. However I feel it is fair to support your child after a divorce and not leave the women empty handed also. It is only fair to do so EVEN if the divorce is her fault |

GeneralShepherd: I am an atheist, I dont believe in God because there is no proof and I don't care if you believe in Him.
There is a common perception that there must be “something more” to atheism than simply disbelief in gods because atheists so often debate theists. What’s the point of debating if not to convert someone to some other philosophy or religion? It is, then, fair to ask why atheists get involved in such debates and what they hope to achieve. Does this show that atheism is some sort of philosophy or even a religion?
Let's discuss please!!! Some of my views back in the day were quite astonishing |

DanXplore: Truth is, some people are athiests because of their very high level of intelligence. I have interacted with alot of them and I must admit, they raised very intelligent issues that I had to admit I could not answer. I gave up because their questions were 100% valid and would only require objective evidences to prove its truthfulness. Very intelligent Athiests are usually Athiests till death. The few that become christians never go back to athiesm and the reason is that their conversion is usually based objective proof which one cannot just conjure.
On the other hand, people that oscillate back and forth like a pendulum bob between christianity and atheism (just like you) are usually very unstable band wagon followers with no trace of intellectual potential. Na anywhere belle face they move. You most likely reverted to athiesm from christanity and back simply because of how your brain processed the infomation you received and not anything else. In a class where students are taught under the same conditions, some will pass with flying colours while others will cause their teachers pain and heartbreak with their failure and stvpidity. You appear to be the latter.
What I wrote will definately sound like crap to someone without exposure. Sadly, your arrogance will ensure you remain trapped in your domain of intellectual deficiency. God bless you. |
