A 22-year old Mass Communication student of the Cross River University of Technology, Priscilla Ojong, has been declared missing, Reports.

According to journalist and publisher of CaliTown who notify , Iwara Iwara, the 300-level student had supposedly travelled from Calabar to Lagos State three weeks ago on the invitation of a male friend.

Ms Ojong has not been seen or heard from since she left Calabar and her phone is unreachable, Reports.

Two of Priscillia’s friends who spoke to calitown confirmed that she travelled to Lagos on the invitation of an unknown male friend who credited her account with the transport fare.

One of the friends said she received a call from Priscilla informing her that she had arrived Lagos safely and will be staying over for just the weekend.

When she however didn’t return, they became worried and repeatedly called her phone number but it was switched off.

Several days after, unable to reach her through calls and even text messages, the friends contacted Priscillia’s parents in Akamkpa LGA of Cross River State.

Their attempt to reach their daughter equally proved abortive so they informed the police in Calabar.

"We were at the (police) station today. My friend and Priscillia’s dad will be heading to the bank to get her statement of account because the day she traveled the guy in question sent her transport fare”, one of the two friends told Calitown.

The visit to the bank was to obtain Priscilla's bank statement in order to establish the identity of the person who invited her to Lagos.

Meanwhile, police sources confirmed that investigation into the incident has commenced.

On Sunday, last two weeks my mom got a bank alert notification, someone sent her 3 million naira, she wasn't expecting money from anyone.

She was shocked, she called I and my younger sister. We couldn't believe it, so we waited for three days to see if the bank will reverse the money, they didn't, so I and my sister took our mom's ATM card to withdraw and test if the money was genuine.

We bought three phones from it. That's when we believed it was real. Then I transferred #50,000 to my bank and transferred #50k into my mom's other account which we used for foodstuffs.

On the fifth day the bank froze the remaining balance of the huge money sent. But no bank official or staff called my mom. That week passed, on the 3rd day of the second week, one lady called my mom by phone in the afternoon, she said her name is Sarah from so so bank.

My mom is not literate so they spoken in pidgin, she told my mom that she knows that my mom received a #3mil last two weeks and she has spent out of it. That the money was government money. Sarah told my mom to go to any nearest ........bank and write a mandate letter authorizing the bank to unfreeze the remaining #2mil in her acct and the bank will give us the beneficiary account which she will send the money back to. And we should return the money we spent out of it immediately.

When we got to my mom's bank, we went to customer agent area, instead of writing the mandate letter, we told the agent everything that happened leaving nothing untouched. the agent said we should give him the number of the staff that called us, when he called the Sarah with his phone, Sarah gave him another name, instead of introducing herself as Sarah, she said her name is Evelyn. She now told the agent to hold my mom down till she (Evelyn) gets to that bank to arrest my mom or whatever.

The agent said on what basis would he hold my mom down. The agent checked the description when the money was sent and he couldn't understand the description. He was saying how could this be government money. He told my mom to try and return the money spent and he told us to go.

The description on the transfer when it came in on Sunday was: "National Procurement of Scanners" #3million.

Is this truly a government money?

Nairalanders what are your opinions? Because my mom is scared, Sarah or Evelyn bullied her on the phone with jail time.

....... Spending the money was wrong even though not many Nigerians will blame you for doing so given the economic hardship facing the country at the moment..... Una good wen be say na less than 200k una remove.... If na other people, they would have removed as much as possible..... That not withstanding, I suggest you don't take any further action until the government through a legal means or a proper channel contact you.... Before that, make una hustle their money keep for them to balance the 3m..... My thought is that, a crooked government official tried to divert the money to an unknown account and tender the alert as proof that they have paid for the procurement of the scanners then later go back and ask the person to return the money to a private account and now it's backfired...... U guys should hustle their balance and wait for a proper government official to contact you....... Last last we all dey hustle for 9ja.....them get luck say no b my account e enter sha..... I for turn am to long term loan..... Last last me and government go arrange how I go take dey pay 5k monthly until the 3m complete.....
