Conner44:
Ehailing in lagos is dead cool yes its true. It is totally dead.

Once upon a time when people like pearl and cheerful were posting huge dashboards to motivate others we never knew that some few ones already knew ehailing was on its last legs and dangling by a thread.

They were seriously advising other Drivers to stop listening to dubious posters that call themselves drivers on this thread showing fake dashboards and port to something better or suffer for life and risk losing their eyesight and proper body posture in the course of driving.

After all, back then ehailing was already terribly unprofitable to those same set of people, then out of nowhere, Tinubu and his governance came into the picture and has finally killed off ehailing for good.

But in the end we still give proper and major thanks to the Almighty cheesy all because after the advices and bants (coming from the usual suspects) concerning the wellbeing of their fellow struggling Drivers and their families on this thread . . .

most Drivers are wiser now
They have applied for and secured good salaried jobs

many Drivers are more focused today
They have all learnt soft tech skills and are landing lucrative remote work contracts

past Drivers are prudent now
No more buying fuel anyhow and checking mpgs everyday just to be moving the whole of lagos upandan. Now they move just themselves and families

all the stubborn Drivers went broke
They have sold off their vehicles and gone back to their villages

So coming to this thread today to seek updated knowledge concerning everyday ehailing struggles in lagos is no longer possible. Nobody drives on ehailing again. Everybody has moved on to greater things, taking helicopter from lekki to ikeja. . . or are treking, cycling, Jumping danfo and flying bike upandan or are just plain broke.

If you are outside on the road and see any corolla or civic carrying someone it's definitely private and all the moove suzukis you see have been privatised. That's the reality some people here want us to accept. Their insider source told them that Uber is getting ready to shutdown operations in nigeria, bolt have already threaded water long enough and Indrive is just . . . there, let's not even talk about rida.

Infact if you're coming to tbis thread today it's just to reminisce about old times and reach out to people you miss who you haven't seen their posts in a while like a few members do these days . Just to check if people are still alive or dead . . . Then the other member might come out and post stuff like "I am fine, just busy travelling for work and getting major allowances. Too busy to post " and that will be the end of their discussion till when loneliness triggers another call-out between them.

This is the current reality on the nairaland lagos uber thread today AND WE ARE TOTALLY HAPPY AND CONTENTED WITH THE SITUATION OF THE TREAD

So please, newbies seeking information should start from page one and read up to page 5000, anyone who has a question can post and pray the 'serious' drivers take out time to reply their posts and the old usual members can continue using this thread as their avenue to relieve stress and pass time with their cruise and bants. After giving so much information and experience for the past 7 years and over 5000 pages on this thread they believe they have earned the right to do with this thread as they please. It is not their fault that stubborn or less fortunate drivers hadn't moved on to other businesses or professional engagements since all the months that they had been shouting and warning, so let nobody blame them.

Instead blame yourselves for still attempting to invest in or are still driving on any ehailing platforms in nigeria after all the warnings the more experienced ones gave here or still attempting to come here for information, tips and tricks concerning ehailng.

So when people wonder why the thread has suddenlygone cold and dead, why drivers no longer post or update stuff here . . . It is simply because THEY HAVE ALL MOVED ON and I think you should do so too wink
Zobo. grin

Fuel subsidy removal is bitting hard, Drivers are feeling the heat. we need pearl to bring back his motivational speech to ginger men to get back to the hustle. Na when hustle sweet people dey come online on this thread comment.

As per the killing of drivers Bolt needs to scrape that driver score activity or acceptance rate, that shiit is one of the factors that is putting drivers life in danger especially the naive and inexperienced ones.

Oyindamolah:
Is that not profitable? Let assume it 10k, multiple that by 5 that's 50k a week and 200k a month.
13k is not so good for the driver's effort, for you to make 56k in day, you have to drive round the clock. 6am to 11pm. There must be surge of 1.5 upward, and it must be on weekends cos the road is free no traffic. And mind you 56k is not what drivers makes every single day. It is way far below. They only make that kind of money on peak days only.
Car TalkRe: My Experience As UBER Driver For One Day by GeneralZodd(m): 4:34pm On Oct 09, 2023
Oyindamolah:
hmmmmm, just last week a friend told me he made 56k and he bought fuel of 29k, do the maths and he showed me everything on his phone 📱,
56k in sales

29k in fuel

25% commission on 56k = 14k commission To be paid by driver to Bolt or Uber, money will remain 42k

Minus fuel money from 42k: 42k - 29k = 13k profit after all expenses.

Your friend made 13k only after all expenses and driving a whole day

Wrong sir. They are not importing fuel. Only the big players with access to dollar at the I&E window are importing fuel.

You can't buy dollar at the parallel market to import fuel simply because you can't compete with those who get it at the I&E window.

And with the reintroduction of subsidies, we don't know how far the government is willing to go to keep fuel at current price
You don come again grin

Just above average.

Personally it is a battle between expectations and reality.

Expectations like the promise of radical reforms in the order of restructuring the state which is fundamental to the survival of this country, nothing yet.

Because the reality is that it is not people driven. And the people cannot drive a process if they are not united in their desire to better the country, to save the country.

So like the previous regime it is safe to predict that results will be average and gains largely superficial by the end of the tenure of this regime.
Its very insensitive and irresponsible for Government to implement policies that are detrimental and inhumane to her citizens without providing alternative that will cushion the effect.

Fuel subsidy removal. Astronomical increase in petrol price, almost X4 of its formal price. Nothing was done to ease the pains and suffering.

Increased Electricity tariff by 40%

High foreign exchange rate almost doubled compared to previous regime.

Increased in Federal University and polytechnic tuition fees by 1000% from #21,000 to #250,000

Inflation bitting hard on every sector of the economy.

Sometimes I think these policiies are intentional so that they can impoverishand control people. Poverty is one of the biggest tool Government use most especially in Africa to subdue the masses.

Like play Like play, another 8 years will go just like that. Buhari came and wasted Odin-odin 8 years and destroyed the economy without achieving nothing.

Tinubu is gradually following the footsteps of buhari, making people poor and wretched under 3 months of his tenure. I pray and hope his policies will be favourable to the Economy and masses at the end because the rate of poverty in this country won't be quantified with words

I rate him 2/10 at this moment
