Vandalism is part of the reason our refineries aren't working at optimum and also constant electricity blackouts.

I think death sentence should be the punishment for pipeline vandalism

Many SAN's do a great job. We should not scrap SAN...just because of the activities of a few corrupt ones.

We might as well scrap the teaching profession....because some teachers are lazy!
Wrong analogy....

He asked that SAN be scrapped and not Lawyers.

All SAN are Lawyers but not all Lawyers are SAN right?

If you scrap Teachers, who will now teach but if you scrap only SAN we would still have Lawyers who will take on cases.

I just wanted to point out the wrong analogy you used. Happy sunday!

Why do people make reference to beauty when death or bodily harm affect people. Are you infering that ugly or not so fine and endowed people don't deserve as much pity?
BusinessRe: Why Can't I Use My UBA And Gtbank Mastercard Online? by GenOrumov: 10:56pm On Feb 27, 2016
@ famopompy, are you trying to pay for something that is charged in Naira? If yes, that's the problem. You have to set it for you to be charged in dollars. How to do that is to change your address from Nigeria to USA.
I wanted to pay on googleplay but it declined my card. Find attached the email I got from gtbank.

The reason the banks do that is so that they can charge you in dollars because the value of the naira has dropped and the amount quoted on that site therefore will not reflect the true value of the price you are asked to pay if you are paying Naira.

So get ready to be charged at black market rate.

I have to purchase something inlline but GTB charged me 300 naira to a dollar. I was mad. I knew they sell back at less than 200. Pls which bank debit is cheaper? Thanks
This is the reason why

TheFreeOne:
Autonomous Sources Control Prices of Dollars In Banks, BDCs – CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says autonomous sources such as exporters and correspondent banks now control the price of dollars in banks and the Bureau de Change (BDC) segment.

The Director, Corporate Communications, Mr Mu’azu Ibrahim, stated this in an interview on Friday in Abuja that customers would also find Forex expensive in the banks or while using their debit cards abroad because the Forex got by banks from the CBN was not sufficient for all transactions.

He explained that for this reason, banks reserved the Forex they got for developmental transactions, especially to manufacturers looking to import necessary materials to aid the real sectors of the economy.

http://www.nta.ng/2016/02/19/autonomous-sources-control-prices-of-dollars-in-banks-bdcs-cbn/
I guess what you paid for was not going to aid the growth of the real sector of the economy hence the sale of the dollar to you at the black market price.

Seun:
True, but the problem isn't importation; it's the lack of exportation of goods apart from oil. Every strong nation imports, but you must also export.
You are still saying the same thing I'm saying but from another angle.

From what I said earlier, if we produce our own needs we wouldn't need to import goods to meet our needs. From the goods we produce we will then export them.

femzysticks:
i still dont know how our currency fall will lead to a rice in the economy

i am of the opinion that a rise in Naira will lead to a rise in economic growth

help me understand you
Part of the reasons the value of our currency is rapidly dropping in the parallel market is because of the importers who bring in just about anything into the country since we hardly produce anything but rely on goods from outside. If the naira keeps falling at this rate, those importers will have no choice but to halt the importation of goods which will thus force us to produce them locally since we can't import finished goods from outside into the country anymore.

Until we start manufacturing/producing everything we need internally to meet our demand, the naira will keep falling.
BusinessRe: To Save The Naira, FG Need To Do This! by GenOrumov: 11:35pm On Feb 18, 2016
oyinkinola:
....there are very many commentary on depreciation of ₦ nowadays expecially in parallel market, although parallel or black market can be manipulated by the traders, they either do it on their self interest, so those who doesn't beleive in the prosperity of nigeria can harbour $ as they can on imported goods hereby cause hike!
But in my own point of view the depreciation of ₦ is a great success to this nation if well manage to nigeria situation today. the looted fund is in $ and it must be refunded back in $, so if $1 is ₦198 when the money is looted, then if the money is refund today at $1 to ₦350 the nation has gained ₦152!
imagine if $1=₦1000, the gain is ₦902!
So in conclusion if the government managed to refund the $trillion looted and the refunded money, change it in parallel market, this will reduce the pressure on ₦ and the scarcity of $ in parallel market so the ₦=$.

(take note all the money took out of CBN during jonathan regime were changed in parallel market before ditributed)

you have other opinion?
First and foremost, do you think the FG can recover the so called "$ trillions" intact the way it was stolen? Never! Majority of that sum has passed through different hands and has gone with the wind forever.

Secondly, the FG cannot take dollars to the parallel market when they have banned BDC's. What they will do is add that $trillion to its reserves and the CBN then redistributes into the economy through the commercial banks.

PoliticsRe: Stop Playing With Fire & Withdraw Troops -- Tompolo Warns Buhari by GenOrumov: 12:02am On Feb 18, 2016
Tompolo seems to be winning the battle but the FG will eventually win the war. No one ever fights with a government and wins. It may take lives, totally shutdown the economy but at the end he will bow.

Ojukwu fled, Shekau hasn't been heard from in almost a year, kanu entered Nigeria's trap and he's suffering for it and Tompolo too won't be an exception if that war starts.

CrimeRe: Court Imprisons 16 ABUAD Students In Ado Ekiti by GenOrumov: 4:05pm On Feb 14, 2016
It baffles me how over every small thing, Nigerian youths will go on a rampage under the guise of protests. They will loot, destroy or even maim those who attempt to correct them.

If those students are innocent I beg for them to be freed but if they aren't, they must be asked to pay for what they destroyed and jailed so as to serve as a deterrent to others.

I got mine for almost 6m last year and you're telling me its now 7.5m. That's incredulous!! I guess its the naira - dollar exchange rate.

I fell in love with the exterior that's why I went for it. The interior (dashboard) is what I'm not too impressed with. Well its typical of toyota cars not to have the interior something your jaws will drop for.
PoliticsRe: Ministers Did Not Have The Time To Screen Budget Properly – Presidency by GenOrumov:
That's what we get when Buhari refused to appoint ministers until the end of the year and truly, what can they do when they rushed to meet the deadline.

Mr President and his ministers should be blamed for this rubbish budget though we should give them time to correct the sorry state of the nation Nigeria has found itself in. Nigeria will not change overnight with the level of the rot/corruption that is evident in our nation.

Its good we are criticising and firing our government on all cylinders. This will make the President and his team sit up and redirect Nigeria in the right direction.

I believe they will make more mistakes but at the end they will get it right.

The way to go would be to engage a sound lawyer rather than this ineffective jungle protest.
You are just too intelligent for the quoted comment above unlike a silly boy that quoted me earlier.

Nigerians just think with protests they will have their way but experience has shown that protests aren't effective in all cases.

There was a particular girl wearing white glasses that was screaming herself hoarse and was so unruly to the point of hitting a guy's car. A lecturer came to the gate and marked her face. Now if punishment is meted out on her, people will say the school is insensitive right?

I can bet that by this time next month, the protesting students will either be in their respective new courses (botany, fisheries etc.) or have left unilag for other schools whichever they are comfortable with.

you Are a fool . we are talking about people's career you are here talking about traffic. learn to sympathize at least
You must be daft and silly to not know how to carry out an effective protest in Nigeria.

It baffles me how you Nigerians just think you can block everything and make the world stop for you.

In that traffic were kids, parents, workers who after a hard day at work were denied their rights to free movement.

Representatives should have been chosen to meet with the VC. From experience, you cannot arm twist the school with protests on admission issues unlike if it were a hike in school fees.

Until you are old enough to see my point, don't quote me.

That was a silly action on the part of the students.

Was stuck in that traffic for hours. I had to call a friend to come pick my car while I left it behind so as not to miss a very important appointment.

@gunuvi & acidosis

Pardon me for just reporting back to you both. Been busy since Tuesday.

The meeting with the M.D of LASWA went as scheduled. Also in attendance was the Commissioner for Transport Lagos State, GM's of Lagos State Safety Commission and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

It was good to hear that NIWA and LASWA have set their differences aside and have resolved to work together.

@ Acidosis, A minute silence was observed for those who lost their lives in that accident. The sand dredgers who caused the accident have been directed to stop their activities on that route. Also, a revised guideline which will guide water transportation in Lagos should be out in like 2 weeks. The aim of the guideline is ensure utmost safety on the waterways.

@ gunuvi, the Authorities were informed about the activities of sand dredgers in Badagry and they promised to look into the matter.
