una go always talk...

At least literates should know that everyone in paid employment should enjoy nothing less than 21 days annual leave. As for employers of labour (entrepreneurs), you can go on leave anytime you like and for as many days as you like provided it doesn't affect your business negatively.

Even I a mid level civil servant spent part of my annual leave in May in the city of Port Harcourt. After sleeping to my fill during daytime, I spent my evenings at the pool side of my hotel and night time at the bar. And come December this year, I'm packing my bags and using up my remaining leave days in Calabar to look at the beautiful girls at their carnival.

So if I (mid level civil servant) can do that, what do you think a Governor of a state will do??

yes, you're very correct. but I can bet it with you this said money was in N and not $. in the 70's, we we're not reliant on the $ as of today because of the strong naira. Also i don't think Dangote was probably importing anything as at that time so it couldn't have been $.

They may be termed as portfolio/briefcase companies. Foreign investors who come in to quickly do brisk businesses (buy bonds, stocks, TB or offer professional consultancy jobs etc) usually don't have a fixed address (although they are expected to drop a local address which they use a friend or acquittance address) and on the completion of the projects or expiration of the tenor of the investments, they may return to their home countries.

Likewise as a Nigerian and want to register your company with CAC, you are mandated to drop an address. Many people usually drop their home addresses because at the initial stage, they may not have gotten an office space and when they finally secure an office space, many people don't bother to indicate a change of address with the banks nor government.

Why would policemen guarding/escorting civilian?

In developed countries you can only hire private security agents and not NYPD blue or CIA

Dead country!
This was a subject of discussion between a friend and I just today.

I was made to understand why only Nigerian Police Force provide security for private individuals and politicians instead of private security agents.

In Nigeria, apart from the police, armed forces (army, navy & air Force) and just a few years ago the Civil defense (NSCDC), the law bars private individuals which includes private security agents from bearing arms therefore they are not licensed to use guns.

So what is the use of the security agents if they are not licensed to carry guns? That's why it's the NPF that provides security for private individuals. Unfortunately, this law deprives ordinary Nigerians of the needed security as the short staffed Nigerian police is further stretched thin providing security for the elite.

The blame should lay at the footstep of our politicians. I agree Nigeria is almost dead.

Between 1999 to 2017, South has ruled Nigeria for 14 out of the 17 years. And this one that Osinbajo is already acting again, I don't know whether 3 full years can be attributed to the North.
Well, we didn't tell them to field people who aren't 100% fit for the job. You and I know the position is for someone who is 100% physically and mentally fit.
PoliticsRe: Osinbajo Will Not Be Allowed To Replace Buhari In 2019 - Northern Elders Forum by GenOrumov: 9:54pm On May 17, 2017
Even as a southerner, I totally agree with this man's remark.

It's like you guys aren't good students of history. Every knowledgeable Nigerian knows there is an unwritten arrangement about power rotation between the North and South which started from 1999.

Obasanjo from the south ruled between 1999 to 2007.
The North was expected to rule from 2007 to 2015, unfortunately due to Yar adua's illness he ruled for almost three years and his Vice (Dr. Jonathan) used the remaining one year of the first term. Instead of stepping aside in 2011 and letting a Northerner continue Yar adua's term, we all urged him on to recontest and throw the arrangement into the bin.

What happened after? That betrayal of the arrangement was one of the reasons Dr. Jonathan failed to win 2015 election and power returned to the North. In essence , it means the South has been short changed of its remaining 4 years as the arrangement should have gone thus:

South: 1999 - 2007
North: 2007 - 2015
South: 2015 - 2023

But it went thus:

South: 1999 - 2007
North: 2007 - 2011
South: 2011 - 2015
and now North: 2015 - 2023

Look at how we have been short changed of our remaining 4 years !!

Now, the same scenario that played out in 2011 is rearing its ugly head and it seems we haven't learnt anything from it.

If Buhari is unable to continue his term in 2019, a Northerner should complete his term to pave way for the South's uninterrupted 8 years. Failure to do this will lead to the 2015 scenario playing out again. We must not let that happen again. We must learn from the past so as to avert same future mistake. A word is enough for the wise!

No guardrail to prevent the car from going over? We can avoid so many disasters.
Guardrails Street urchins have removed or will remove. Go and check all the bridges built in the 80's & 90's e.g Eko bridge, Third Mainland, Carter bridge, Jibowu Bridge etc.

Or is it the Modern bus stop built by Fashola lights and branded by LASAA with functioning lights and seats on Ikorodu road e.g the ones at Fadeyi bus stop, Onipanu, Anthony which has been turned to Street urchins offices. The glass is broken and the lights are functioning any longer.

We citizens aren't helping matters as you have said.

martyns303:
Thank you for your matured approach.

Road accidents are not the only ways Corp members have died. But then you hear about the occupants of an entire bus dying every year on their way to their PPA. This people are not going about their business out of their freewill but by a compulsory scheme. Imagine if a particle organization have a program in which hundreds of people die yearly, won't you like for that program to be reviewed?

1. Victims Road accidents
2. Victims of Neglect in camp
3. Victims Electoral violence

The list could go on, NYSC served it's purpose, time to review it.
I totally agree with you on the need for it to be reviewed and modified based on the current happenings in the country.
NYSCRe: Gombe Corper Dies In Accident On His Way To Taraba (Photos) by GenOrumov: 10:57pm On May 09, 2017
martyns303:
At what point do we review this NYSC thing? Hundreds of people have died travelling to or from where they are serving. We can not put a price tag on a single life. NYSC is not worth it, if you doubt me, go ask this boy's mother if she would rather have her son back or have NYSC scrapped.

It was useful and now it has outlived it's purpose, time to move.
In as much as I totally agree with you on the need to review/modify the NYSC program or probably cancel it (im not in support of that) is it only corp members that have died while travelling on Nigerian roads or died from other things?

Or if a student lives in Abia but schools in Bayelsa and dies while travelling to school, should we call for schooling only in the state a student resides?
