To correct you - Ooni wasn't elected but selected.

Oniwo of Iwo was not born a king (but a prince) because his father was never the king at anytime. He was selected from amongst many eligible princes just like the Ooni.

Presidency is different from royalty. If it's an inherited title like the obaship in Benin Kingdom, the day you're born is the day you will know you will inherit the throne of your forefathers. That's if you're the first son though.

You only gave one example - Obaship of Benin but this is not about Benin Kingdom neither Olubadan of Ibadan where we know who is next in line at all times.

This particular throne we are discussing is like many others in Yorubaland which is not inherited directly from their fathers but where we have many families with many princes and princesses that have to SLUG it out amongst themselves. Therefore in this scenario, how do you know if you are going to be selected to be King amongst say 20 eligible persons (that is even if the person doesn't die before the throne becomes vacant)?

I don't see any reason to disagree with what this man has just said.

Nigeria's situation was akin to travelling on a smooth road but veering off at a point into the bush and continuing the journey deep into the bush. As it is, Buhari can only help Nigeria navigate back from the bush, then the next person will now take us to our final destination.

Any sensible human should know that Nigeria is currently so bad that it will take magic to cure its problems instantly but you and I know that magic doesn't solve problems. 4 to 8 years isn't still not going to be enough to turn Nigeria into a country of our dreams (minimal corruption, improved healthcare, constant electricity, no fuel scarcity etc.)

Neither am I from Delta nor have any interest whatsoever in the men you are both arguing about but I couldn't help but make a comment about your statement.

As a learned quantity surveyor I can boldly say that this statement of yours is logically and factually impossible except you're intentionally exaggerating which is understandable.

How can one person construct more roads in just 10 months than in 8 years especially at a time State governments finances has severely dipped. Unless you mean patching of potholes and not construction of new roads or rehabilitation of dilapidated roads.

Because the fuel you consume is imported from outside the country as our refineries are not working optimally and the little its capable of producing; pipeline vandalism won't make them achieve that thereby making us import dependent . Exchange rate differential, import duties, shipping costs, cost of tranportation from the ports to (remote) parts of the country etc.

For your information, the crude oil drilled from the SS isn't what the SS and SE is consuming. The fuel we all consume in Nigeria is imported hence the high price in the SS/SE. Its lower in Lagos because all the imported oil, gets to Lagos first before its distributed to other parts of the country (other parts of SW, North and SS/SE). That's the reason why fuel is a bit lower in SW than in SS/SE because the cost of transportation from Lagos to SW is obviously lower than Lagos to SS/SE.

Before I go, let me inform you that I bought petrol in Osun at 200 per litre last week so other parts of SW are in no way different from SS/SE.

The solution is to mount pressure on government to fix the refineries but most importantly, call your brothers and friends who engage in pipeline vandalism to order. Despite the old age of our refineries, they are still capable of producing 30%-50% of its expected output but when you vandalise pipelines, you leave NNPC with no choice than to shutdown the refineries. When this happens, the SS/SE which should be the major beneficiary of their crude becomes the loser and short-changed (by their people) which is no fault of neither the government, SW nor North.

How can government claim to have deregulated but still go ahead to fix prices?

This government wants to run a socialist government but unfortunately, the development that will be recorded will be minimal at the end of their tenure. Although the government should not leave Nigerians to the mercy of capitalist (because majority of Nigerians are poor), they should still shift position a bit so as to encourage the massive investment into the country. That action will make us record serious development than currently experienced.

Nigerians in other parts of the country except Lagos and Abuja are currently paying more than 86.50 for fuel. Why not ride on that once and for all so as to enable us record serious development there?

Well it appears so because almost everything in Nigeria revolves around crude oil/petrol. The nation is currently at a standstill (all capital projects are on hold therefore they have nothing to supervise at the moment). Until when the budget is signed and ready for implementation, then we'll start hearing about others.

I also understand your frustration with this administration because they haven't changed the usual things we know is wrong with Nigeria despite its promises but to label it the worst is uncharitable just after 10 months is too short a time. When its 2018 if all that is happening is still present then, then I will agree with your opinion.

I bought it on sunday in Osogbo for 200.

As the price of everything has gone up over the years (small indomie is now N45, purewater N10, holts brake oil I use for my car 600 before but 900 now etc.), so is the price of fuel too. And don't forget whatever goes up in Nigeria never comes down. So brace up!!!

@ Phestosuah, as a businessman I understand how you feel and I am sure God will compensate you with a bigger contract than the one you lost.

But when next you find yourself in that situation, park your car somewhere safe, leave your boys behind and take public transport. Even though image (like riding a car) is important in business, in this period of fuel scarcity the company giving out the contract will surely understand your plight if you don't drive a car to their premises.

Nigerians money is different from Nigeria's money. Also the money remitted by the diaspora is remitted to fellow Nigerians account in form of cash and investment and not personally to CBN's account.

The judge who may preside his case may have queued for hours before getting his tank filled. With that anger, the station manager's punishment go long pass River Nile.

Good development!!

If you make money, then you should pay tax towards the development of the state. You want roads, housing, good business environment but you don't want to pay tax. How will you now get the good things listed?

As for this market women, they can place a flat fee on them like its done in Lagos where artisans, market women and all those in the informal sector pay a token of 2500 per year. We know the disposable income in KD is not as high as in Lagos, therefore they can place a levy on them say 500 or 1000 per year that's 41.6 or 83 naira per month.

Will that be too much for them to pay? I leave you all criticising this initiative to judge this matter from my suggestion.
