You are beating about the bush. If they mean the same thing, your dictionary would say so. Reference your dictionary and get the difference.

You sound so holy, it doesn't make the rest of us less saintly. I just hope you really are like that in life. But really, I love to make my rough paths easier for those behind. It's not my business afterall but I care for others who have made too many mistakes.

Get the difference between 'bribery' and 'incentives.' This is where you err. No one forces you to pay extra. Pay government rate and have your file tossed aside. Give incentives to appreciate their efforts and motivate their performance and you'll still be on the side of the Law. Justwise, I am learnered and not lettered.

justwise: You really need dictionary more than i do, when you give money or gift to alter somebody's behaviour/views/judgement then that is bribery. When you give a police officer money through unofficial means to facilitated a service then that is bribery.

I'm not ready to bend any rule, no number dropping or email dropping for some dodgy dealings please.

Go back to my definition and correct your error. Money paid at NPC, IMMIGRATION and POLICE clearance offices were paid through the government established channels, not unofficial means. No arguments Justwise. You call the shots. We comply. I just don't like that tag 'bribery and corruption.' It shouldnt be associated with me.

justwise: If you keep giving bribe and complaining about corruption then you are as bad as those collecting the bribe. Don't help them make things even more difficult for generations to come. You are part of the problem and have only you to blame.

Do you really know what bribery means? I can see you are getting it twisted. When you intend to induce an individual with money to escape a guilty verdict of the law or to influence them into doing what would be considered illegal in the eyes of the law, that's bribery. Please bend some of these strict rules to make it easier for the forumites.

If you pay the government rate (official cost) for anything, you must be prepared to wait for the NORMAL time established by LAW for processing. You could wait for 6 months for your International Passport if you pay the official rate. 2 weeks minimum for NPC birth certificate if you pay N2500. That's the system we find ourselves in. Now the question is, who is willing to wait?

My brother, let's not pretend about it, even your tithes, offerings, seed faith etc gives you accelerated hearing before God and miraculous interventions in your earthly affairs. 'Winks'

justwise: I'm not bothered about how much the police did it for you or how fast it was done, why should one go through a police officer to get it done faster or cheaper? The officer is just lining his own private pocket, we should not encourage that and still complain about corrupt in Nigeria, nobody need to call any police officer in private before getting things done in Nigeria.

Let me step in here my brother. You are doing a good and laudable job as the moderator and I understand what you are trying to prevent. That great.

Now, when you get to Alagbon for police clearance, the mopols at the entrance won't allow you in until you state WHO you want to see or WHY you came around. If you state WHO you want to see by name, you are given a clean pass. If you state WHY you came around, they will hijack you as their client and look for their colleagues to assign you to. You will pay much more as a result.

Let me tell you the case of 2 brothers I met there. Opposite the Police unit is Prisons and immigration offices respectively. These two brother were accosted by a prison warden who knew what they came for. He collected N30k from them, gave them a seat in the nearby restaurant and proceeded himself to do it on their behalf. The bubble burst when it was time to finger print and their physical presence were needed. Out of curiousity, the younger one asked the Police officer the official cost of the exercise. When he learnt they weren't supposed to pay more than N5k each, they reported the prison warden, who refunded the money and was reported to his boss for appropriate sanctions.

Inside the police unit are different police men on their desks. Their job is to attend to the people and charge any amount they deem fit. If you are not informed, you could pay as much as N10k. What we have done is to release contact details of high ranking officers who will expedite action on your case at a cheap cost. By the way, the money goes to the government and anything in excess of it goes to their pocket.

If what you've read here means anything to you, then get to understand that the release of such names and numbers is in the interest of the forumites. Thank you sir.

What i really need is how to board a bus from Obalende to the embassy(2, Walter Carringtoo Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos). Would av prefer to pick a bike from Obalende but Okada has been restricted in Lagos. Pls gurus in d house, ur prompt comments will be appreciated.

Imcool, I am cool too. Firstly, Okada to those routes have been banned. Secondly, going thru Obalende isn't cool.

Get to CMS instead and board a bus heading to anyone of these routes. They will drop you off at the embassy bus stop.

Maroko Sandfill, Law school Idowu Taylor or Aja. Let the conductor know you are headed to the US embassy. But if you ask me, keep N3k aside for a taxi ride from any part of Lagos to Walter Carrington Crescent. That saves you time and stress.

saakeem2003: Hello House, I want to thank everybody on this forum for their contributions and suggestions and I pray almighty God to be with each and everyone of us, Our interview was Jan 3rd I was there with my wife and children though we were denied by that lady in window 16 as usual and the only thing I can realized from the interview according my wife who is the principal applicant was her WAEC result where she had pass in English though she has HND but the lady refused to look at other results except that of WAEC, she later gave us a paper where they said she was not eligible for the DV.
My purpose here was achieved and I loved you All and Also pray that God should be with you all, am using this opportunity to congratulate those that have gotten their visa and also pray for those awaiting visa that God should see you through, Thanks to the moderators and coordinators of the forum, I love you all God bless NIGERIA, God Bless America

Couldnt you combine results? Had you at least a credit pass in Mathematics? Had you up to 5 credit passes? While I do not really expect an answer from you under the circumstance, it will be okay if you can tell.

I don't like it when people start dropping number of police officers for some back-door deals. This place should not be used to promote or encourage bribery or some dodgy dealing.

Noooo. This wasn't the intent. I remember dropping off a number too. Most of us device means to make it easier for others. I did my medicals and discovered why people pay more and reported. I met a very nice man when I cleared with the police and got a first class treatment and expeditiously too and decided to extend the same to others. We all know that in Nigeria nothing has a fixed price. The official cost of NPC birth certificate for instance is N2500 but people pay much more than that. National Passport costs less than N10k officially to procure. But people pay as much as N18k for it. I find those words 'bribe' and 'dodgy' spiteful. Let's always see the good intended by these forumites.

All those you mentioned are wonderful but go a step further to procure your transcript and keep handy your notification of result which is issued in lieu of your certificate.

My brother, Patience ran out of my house this morning and I am also tired of waiting! I called Kcc on the 19th of Dec.and by my calculation, today makes it 10 working days. Since no show within 5 to 10 working days, let's give kcc the benefit of the doubt and extend our wait to next week believing that they went for a longer xmas break than we are assuming! I want to believe that by now, kcc staff should have resumed work. Na who fit call confirm? I can't call again; may b they have a computer automatically recording the number of times one calls. I am just thinking: what if I call and they tell me the computer has flagged my case no. red and so I have been disqualified. If that one happen, wetin I wan tell my dead grand father? I don't think it's an issue when you explain yourself well during your interview. That might not be the same here in Nigeria where the average person is erroneously thought to be fraudulent. The image built by Europeans could play our in your favor.

In all my applications for the DV lottery processing, I used the recommended size against a white background. I recommend you do same. I saw some one with a regular size passport photo taken against red background during my medicals. I can't however tell which country he is applying to.

Thank Tinu. For the police report they requested for a copy. Medicals requested for 2 copies. In all instances, I had 4 copies of two different passport photos. Varieties is the spice of life. Always carry spare with you. You can never get stranded in life having too much.

You're correct Jide. I asked the doctor some questions yesterday while he interviewed me. I was made to pay for Small pox/chicken pox vaccination because I told him I haven't experienced both before. Again I gathered your age is another determinant factor. Thanks Jide.

please go with at least 4 copies of the correct sized photos for the interview. They may opt to replace the undersized once.

Allybert: House please I need your help. I finished my National Diploma in August last year and I filled it as the highest level of education completed in the DS-230 form sent to KCC. Now interview have been schedule but I have not gotten my ND certifcate. Plus I have a reference meaning that my certificate will not be ready anytime soon. And I have been schedule for interview already. ............ Please house, what can I do or what should I get to show to the CO on the day of my interview? Do you think a letter of introduction or any documemt from my school will suffice?

If you can lay hold of your admission letter, student ID card, school fee receipts, statement of result (different from notification of result) or a letter from your faculty/department addressed to whom it may concern, you are good to go.

emybaby2: Hurray, i've been given my visa today, am so happy. I woke up early and arrived the place and we were checked in by 6:30am. Passed through the security check and got in. We did the documentation i.e gave my original and photocopied documents. I forgot to include 2 photocopied marriage certificate rather it was one and they wrote it down in my form that one certificate is out. That was the only error i made though i was nervous. Then we waited again. When it was time for the interview, window 16 who is a white lady was so tough with so much drilling of people with questions. The first couple for DV there were rejected by her. Up to 5 people went and she either refer them for the next day or told them that they have failed. A particular woman with a family of 5 children and her husband were denied their DV visa. What i come to know is that if you can't answer or defend your education and also know dates of birth, time you went to school etc, then there will be problems. The woman in window 13 was so nice and was handing down visas like water only denied one man. Who wasn't a DV applicant.
After praying that i should not pass through the white woman, believing God for window 13 when i was called to window 16(the white woman.)

Your questions were answered. Aren't you satisfied? No one will ask you for a DNA test. Your pictures and wedding certificate are enough.

I need to inform all that your visa interview commences at your medicals. The Dr. asks you certain questions and documents the report. Be sure you don't say anything inconsistent with what you filled in your forms. I have been here all day for my medicals. Can't wait to depart for home.

Hahahaha! Please don't disagree with the truth. You can do nothing against the truth but for the truth. Your business with KCC ends the moment they forward your documents to your home embassy. If you read the content of your 2NL, you will see the directive to deal henceforth with the home embassy. It's the home embassy that reschedules interview appointments and not KCC. Abeg, better agree with me.

He's got no further business with KCC. They will refer him to the interview post if he writes them. I strongly advise you write the embassy. Be truthful. Let them know you were expecting your interview appointment through the regular mail until you were properly informed by which time it was late. You will be rescheduled.

The names on your International passport which I believe must also be the name on your KCC documents must take the precedent.

If the missing name is Olatunde and every other names are constant, then, the confirmation would read somewhat like this:

CONFIRMATION/CORRECTION/HARMONIZATION OF NAME:

Olatunde, Nigerian, male, born on 3rd January 2013 is the same person as Olatunde Olamiji Atoole. All documents remain valid. The general public should take note.

Please explain clearly to them at the High Court so as to adjust the template to suit your peculiar situation.
