teemola: The World Health Organisation (WHO) has said that by May 2013, all Nigerians traveling abroad would be compelled to take the oral polio vaccine. This was noted by Dr. Ray Nihar, an official of the WHO yesterday in Kaduna.
STALE NEWS!!! Besides it's for children.

peters ife: Gentiner pls does it mean dat those that collected their visa in dec, and plan travelling to america in february 2013 won,t pay the processing fees at the point of entry.
I can tell you AUTHORITATIVELY that you are EXEMPTED from any additional processing fee since your visa was issued earlier this month. You got nothing to worry about my brother. By the way, I'll send across the promised document the moment I receive your blank mail as directed.
TravelRe: DV 2013 Winners Meet Here by Gentiger(m): 11:39am On Dec 15, 2012
Spoondar: To my understanding if you enter the US in Feb this means you will start processing for both your SSN and GC which will take 2 weeks, then you will have to pay the fee.

If the applicant is unable to make this payment, another person can make this payment on the applicant’s behalf.

Failure to Pay

The applicant will not receive a green card until the required USCIS Immigrant fee is paid.

Failure to pay does not affect the lawful status of the applicant. While the applicant can use their Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Form I-94, Arrival and Departure Record, for one year to document they are a lawful permanent resident, once that I-94 stamp expires, the applicant will need to possess a green card as evidence of their lawful permanent resident status.

OR LETS US WAIT AND SEE WHAT THE CONSULATE OFFICE SAYS but meanwhile save $165 per person oooooooo

MY QUESTION IShuhhuh
Is this fee going to be included in the visa fee or we shall pay later after obtaining the visa
I strongly believe they will look at the date your visa was issued in your passport to determine whether the fee is applicable to you.

It's my training as an attorney to interpret drafts and status. We examine keywords inorder to arrive at the intentions of the drafts man.

The major keyword there says 'Effective 1st February.' Since there is an express mention of a kickoff date, any individual who obtains an immigrant visa BEFORE the specified date is EXEMPTED!!!

Gsluv: Hello house, pls I'd like to ask this question. On my waec cert "H" was omitted from my name,"Ridwan instead of "Ridhwan", but correctly spelt on other docs, pls do I need to swear an affidavit or it won't cause an issue?
My dear brother, while the omission of a letter from your name might be inconsequential and negligible, it won't put a hole in your pocket to correct the error through a court process. Get an affidavit and keep aside just incase it becomes an issue which I doubt. It won't cost more than N500.
TravelRe: DV 2013 Winners Meet Here by Gentiger(m):
Effective February 1, 2013

About the Fee

Foreign nationals who seek permanent
residence in the United States and receive
an IMMIGRANT VISA will need to pay a USCIS
Immigrant Fee beginning February 1, 2013.

The new fee of $165 was established in
USCIS’s final rule adjusting fees for
IMMIGRATION APPLICATIONS and petitions
announced on Sept. 24, 2010. USCIS has
worked closely with the Department of State
(DOS) to implement the new fee which
allows USCIS to recover the cost of
processing that is performed in the United
States after immigrant visa holders receive
their visa packages from DOS and are
admitted to the United States.

Note: Applicants will now have two separate
fees to pay. They are still required to pay
the DOS visa application processing fee, and
will now also have to pay the USCIS
Immigrant Fee.

What the Fee Covers

The immigrant fee will cover the cost of
USCIS staff time to handle, file and
maintain the immigrant visa package, and
the cost of producing and delivering the
permanent resident card.

Who Needs to Pay the Fees

ANY INDIVIDUAL who on or after February 1,
2013 receives an IMMIGRANT VISA package
from a United States consulate or embassy
abroad (including Canada and Mexico) WILL PAY the USCIS Immigrant Fee.

NOTE: Pay close attention to the words in upper case

Just before you conclude it doesn't apply to DV lottery winners, please read today's Guardian Newspaper, page 6, bottom page.

If you will be issued a green card upon arrival to the States, then you must pay an additional GREEN CARD processing fee of $165, effective 1st February, 2013, to USCIS at the point of your IMMIGRANT VISA application of which DV lottery belongs.

This fee has nothing to do with date of entry to the States, but the date the visa was issued. So those whose interview fall before the specified date are exempted.

ojisalara: Morning Guys, Thanks for all your wonderful advice...I'm having this issue and I don't know if it will be a problem though while filling My form I indicated it There:
1. Most of my Cert have my First name and my surname while other have First, middle name and Surname, do I need an affidavit for this issue?
2. I studied Electrical Electronics Engineering but work with an Oil and Gas Servicing firm where I don't do more of Electrical Engineering work . though I have some experience in the Electrical Field from previous employment ,Should I go with Education during the Interview?

Though My interviews should be around February because I wrote KCC about Status of my application and they sent me this reply "Your forms have been received and are acceptable for the continuation of your visa processing. KCC is currently scheduling visa numbers for your region for the month of February. Please refer to the visa bulletin at www.travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month."

Thanks and regards
You got no problem. Go to the high court and do HARMONISATION OF NAME also known as CONFIRMATION OF NAME. Publish in a national newspaper atleast 30 days before your interview date. Many have been denied for inconsistencies in names and date of birth. Go the extra mile. It won't cost more than N6k to do all these. Goodluck!

tinubaby: Hi guys , i need your advice ASAP. my interview is coming up and i dnt wanna be denied. reading about prince charming really got me scared. its so sad. i filed inmy educational qualification and also my job experience but looking at it now, im not sure my job would qualify me for the visa. would i be asked if i want to go through with my work experience or educational experience cos i think it would be fair if the co considers my education instead of work since that doesnt qualify? i wish prince charming would tell the house if he had the minimum ssce requirements so we could tell if he was educationally qualified and rejected or if he also didnt have his ssce. i also wish he would tell us his occupation as well. i was gonna take my employment letter wit me but i thnk il just present my school certificate and hide the employment letter in another envelope in case the co asks.wat do u guys thnk? pray for me o. i also want to share my success story o. no be only congratulations i want tell people. make people sef tell me congrats wen my time reach ooooo
I very strongly doubt if the wife had up to 5 credit load of the 9 subjects entered for which was why they relied on work experience.

You rarely get denied if you meet the education requirement, except of course there are other unspecified mitigating issues.

Princecharmingobi: Hi everyone, me and my wife was denied our dv lottery visa on tuesday, the issue was that they claimed in the denial letter and below is their statement,
that this office regrets regrets to inform you that it is unable to issue a visa to you because you have been found ineligible under the labor qualifications section 212(a)(5)(A) of the law. After careful review of your application, it has been determined that you do not meet the qualifications for this visa class. Unfortunately, there is no appeal for Diversity Visa Lottery applications.
I need the phone number of the naira land lawyer for his advice, because i want to appeal this decision because i won through my wife and she has credits on her 9 papers in WAEC.
It appears appeal is restricted to certain nationalities alone of which Nigeria may be exempted. This is not for certain.

Top of the day to everyone in the house! Rejoice with me as I just turned current. I have been down and busy lately, and so seldom visit nairaland. I had to try and do some catching up backwards. I owe my thanks to all in the house who have been very helpful. Thanks to Temmy, Gentinger, Tiwana, bussyme, jidedon, adovia, adesoji, and others to many to mention; you are all definitely appreciated. I would definitely come back on this forum to share my interview experience for all to learn one or two things. God bless you all! Lest I forget, I know how it feels not being current- I can imagine the impatience, the emotions, but please just relax! By HIS grace, he will make all things perfect in a time beautiful for you. I felt that way when on the 15th of Nov I checked the visa bulletin and discovered that Nigeria was stagnant at 10,000. Believe, and the visa will get to you too, Amen.
Thanks nwannem nwoke. Ogadiligi nma.

kinzzo112: Yestarday was our interview, God favoured my wife and I. Our appointment time was 7am, by 5.30am, we were already at the Gate, waiting. Before 6.30am it fill up to its capacity. Exactly 6.30am we were called to line up(immigrant and non-immigrant). we went through all the normal security checks. We Got there pick our tag number(B......) we sat for few minutes, our names were called for documents submission. we went to window 17, a black lady there told us to go ahead and make payment before she could collect those documents. we made the payment(660 dols). And we went back to her again. that was were God started His work! after the documents were submitted(including our marriage certificate) she told us to bring our passport photographs, after looking at my wife's own, said she is not comfortable with what she used in hair, that if we had any other passport with us, which we said no, that passport was rejected, look at how the woman was looking everywhere for us search for another replacement, at last she has to remove the ones KCC sent to the embassy and used it for us. we were asked to sit that our number will called again. Mind you before we left home, we had prayed for us to be interviewed by the black lady at window 13 cos we have read about the way she favoured people. our eyes was in her window, we saw her approving two visas to different people, So here God did another Wonder! when she was done, she called another number B...., she waited for several minutes for this person to come up for interview, the particular person never showed up, she had to drop the forms and details, she went to pick another form, behold, it was our number she called, we smiled to each we stood-up to meet her. The interview was just within 10 minutes, no long thing!
took our finger print, take the oath and it went this way:
CO: You were the winner:
mywife: yes
CO:How low long have you been playing DV?
CO: Who played it for you
CO: How long have you been married?
CO:what do you do?
mywife: i teach and also a student
CO: how do cope with both:
mywife: am partime student, i only go to school weekends
CO: OOK, I C.
CO: which of the marriage you people did
mywife: court registry and it was celebrated in the church
CO: you have any pictures from the wedding:
mywife: gave her all the pictures( during the bride prize payment, the ones during dating, and the wedding)
I noticed she was looking for some particular pictures, immediately she saw them, she stopped and gave us back all the pictures, i noticed her typing into her system.
The only question i was asked:
CO: What do you do?
me: A network engineer.
CO: ok, you also work and go to school?
me: yes
she typed again
CO: congratulations yous visa has been approved!
she brought out a paper, circle an address told us to collect visas in a later date.

My people na so i see am reach!

HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR US!
A super congratulations.

seven!!:
GLORY BE TO OUR GOD FOR HIS GOODNESS AND MERCIES ENDURES FOREVER. AMEN. Good afternoon house. I've been reading this thread for some time and i must say it has really helped my wife and I a lot. My wife and I just had a successful interview at the US embassy in Ghana and will like to share my experience with the house.

We got to the embassy around 7am went through the security checks and went straight to the visa section. There were a lot of would be immigrant waiting to be called for interview. After an hour we called to pay the visa fee and were asked to sit and wait again. My guys we sat there for almost 2 hours before we were called again to present our documents.
Please house I advice u present only the required documents. And for couples don't forget your foto albums.

We waited for another hour and we were finally called to windows 8.

CO : Good morning
ME : Good morning Sir grin grin grin grin(remember to smile well well)
CO : Put your right index finger on some machine and asked my wife to do same.
CO : Do u sear to tell the truth so help u God ?
ME : Yes I do.
CO : Do you have any relatives in America ?
ME : No but my wife's aunty is there
CO : When did u meet your wife ?
ME : 1st October 2009.
At this point the CO stepped aside and started arranging our documents followed by endless typing.
He then stretched his hands and gave us the blue visa collection and told us to come back on Friday morning for our visas. I then asked if i can come alone to collect the visas.

Guys that was it just 2 questions. This miracle is just too much for me. BABA GOD DO AM AGAIN OOOOOOOOOO. HELP ME TO SAY THANK U TO JEHOVAH GOD FOR ALL THAT YOU'VE THAN FOR MY WIFE AND I.

TO THOSE YET TO GO FOR THEIR INTERVIEW REMEMBER TO PRAY BEFORE U GO. AND ITS WELL. SEE U IN AMERICA SOON.
Congratulations. Many more outstanding testimonies to follow.
