Kindly ensure you are properly enrolled in school in Canada and have your school ID and Canadian redidence permit handy before you attend the interview. I also got a US visa from Germany barely 5 months I landed as a graduate student despite a previous refusal from Nigeria. I am not sure where you can book conferences but these are organized from different sources. You can enquire from other folks in your field. It could be an event organized by your professional organization, your work place etc. I supported the other moniker because he/she is a masters student in public health and going for a conference in that same field which makes sense. If you are using conference as a reason for visit, you want to be sure your story looks genuine and believable.

You can apply from the UK since you are a legal resident as a student as long as you are fulfilling your student visa conditions by attending classes. The case would be different for visitors who are better applying from their home country. Going for a conference in line with your field as a student makes sense.

Success on visa application is at the discretion of the Canadian Immigration (IRCC) but you should stand a high chance if you can take your time and put in a convincing application. Few tips that can help you are itemized below:

* Attach your immigration document that legalize your stay in the UK i.e UK Home Office BRP letter & BRP Card.
*Academic Record sheet with Grades to date (that proofs you have been attending classes)
* Proof of Funds (if your brother would be sponsoring, you can attach his one pager financial Net worth and stamped by his bank).
* Confirmation Letter of Financial Sponsorship by your brother.
* You can also attach your bank statement as additional proof of funds, just to demonstrate you have some cash.
* Since you are going for a conference and still studying, the shorter the number of days you declare spending in Canada, the better since the officer would expect your resumption for the following semester. Dont forget to attach evidence of payment for the conference and any other relevant document like confirmation of attendance etc. I want to also assume you are planning this to fall during your school scheduled academic break.

* When filing your application, there is section that ask "amount available for your stay" make sure the amount you quote make sense in regard to the days you intend to spend in Canada. Your brother would be able to advice you on this since he lives in Canada.

Overall, you guys should evaluate the application well before you submit to be sure nothing will be confusing to the visa officer. A clue would be if your brother would be granting you an accommodation for the duration of the conference, you want to be sure that he lives in good proximity to the conference. Your brother cannot be living in Alberta and the conference is taking place in Ottawa, that would be a concern to the officer just to give you an example.

Please if someone renew a passport with a valid student visa and the passport is yet to expire till 2025 which called (migration), and the immigration cancelled the previous passport data page with cancelled stamp when the new 10 years passport was issued to avoid using 2 passport.

Yes, just I said earlier, some people have done that Here I mean sending lump sum close to date of submission and still got approval. Truth is this things basically rely on how you word your SOP and the VO handling the case.
The best way to usually checkmate this is demonstrating the availability of the funds making an expense.
In conclusion, supporting docs as you said is one of the most important and how you use your SOP to convince the VO. In all, na to enter prayers once you submit application.

Well what I noticed is that if someone lack of documentation to backup his claim that the propose study funds is raised from the sales of property and no details explanation of lump sums in the bank account is Red flag.

Also, if someone hold the proceeds of sales for months in his bank account without explain in ​details the lump sums and backed with documents to proof it doesn't count anything.

Because the funds I used for proof of funds apart from my Sponsor's bank statement and little funds in my salary account I submitted, I opening my new account with N1,000 and the lump sums was transferred to the account on day 3, then printed the bank statement on day 4, still got my student visa approved.

In an event like this I make sure I left no stone untouched I explained the lump sums in details in my SOP&LOE, then backed it up with documents related to the property ( from first generation to the last )

I'm planning to extend my study permit when I enter Canada before, but with this info you are sharing with me now I think I should go ahead and do another passport since they accept Visa in expired passport.

Note: my student visa was issued according to validity on my passport and my course will ended in August 2025, while my passport will expire in March 2015.

Yes sir, you can present a renewed passport to get the complete duration of your study permit. You just have to show a valid passport alongside the visa in the invalid passport.
Using a valid visa in an expired passport is acceptable, provided you have another valid one.

Hotel reservation is not mandatory but is choice, try and book one without paying some hotel can cancel your reservation after you submit your application still got approved.

If you are resuming in January 2024 you can still make your payment after your deadline but you most complete the first semester fee required from your LOA before you travel to Canada.

A friend of mine did the same thing even he paid 3 days before his flight and gotten his acknowledge payment receipt while his on transit before landed, upon landed no officer was asking him any single thing.

Note: make sure you pay your first semester tuition fee as required from your LOA before you travel to Canada .

You can email the school and inform them how difficult you are facing through your bank to make the payment to school.

Trust me that's what a friend did and they responded that they are aware of that and he should make sure he pay the fee before travel to Canada inorder to avoid officer query at the Airport..

You can apply with your current passport and, upon receiving PPR, submit the renewed passport with explanation. Alternatively, you can present the new passport at the port of entry to get the complete duration of your study permit. Or you can apply for a study permit extension when you renew your passport in Canada. Don’t do capturing in Nigeria if you intend to follow the latter.

Note: Considering the expiration date, it may not be possible to renew your passport now.

Don't waste your money for USA student visa 5 out of 100 Applicant gotten student visa from Nigeria.

I knew UK VO usually denied on using business account to apply even if your CAC is not active but that not usually common to Canada.

I used sponsor business account without tax or receipt for my student visa and got approved despite my Sponsor company account is inactive for many years.

Note: All application is not the same and no one should take this as priority because what work for me might not work for you, but I have seen many people that used only business account with multiple transactions debit and credit (like 30 pages of business trading ) that gotten their visa.
