Skyview01:Maybe that is why we might never be wealthy as a race. We would be worse than those we criticise. |
TheCongo2:Those are white dominated countries. Why do you want them not to dominate the executive positions? How many whites dominate executive positions in black dominated countries? Why should the majority not dominate their country? You people want to reap where you don't sow. Whites built their countries. Go and build yours and impose your rules. That is what the Japanese and Chinese did. |
Skyview01:Thank you ooooooooo https://www.nairaland.com/5886610/racism-against-blacks-reduce-drastically As for the Chinese, they have suffered a lot. They were denied naturalisation status in the US based on their nationality. World powers then humiliated and punished the Chinese. China was divided across many parts by these World Powers. Japanese soldiers raped Chinese women and seized Taiwan. British colonial masters fed the Chinese with drugs and seized Hong Kong. Portuguese sailors seized Macau. Today, as a result of their wealth, no one dares discriminate against the Chinese. When one says this to black people, one sees them ranting about capitalism, whereas that is the only economic system that has pulled more people out of poverty. |
oakenfold:It is not self-hating but an assessment of the whole issue. If I were in Lagos in February, I would have been flogged. Even non-Igbos were flogged. More than 500 farmers in Plateau were butchered by people who looked like them. If those 500 farmers were in South Korea, would they have been butchered? Blacks have no moral right to complain about racism, especially as no black-dominated country (population above 5 million) is prosperous. |
Skyview01:THANK YOU! I would never take the rants of so whiners of racism to be serious. Never! |
TheCongo2:I want to assume you are a Congolese; you won't understand what some Nigerians have experienced regarding tribalism, which is why they don't view racism with much seriousness, considering the economic opportunities available. In my opinion, tribalism is worse because we share the same skin colour. Houses have been razed in Northern Nigeria by people of the same skin colour. People's businesses have been burnt because they are of a different ethnic group, even though they have the same skin colour. A man from Plateau is likely to live longer in South Korea than his native state as Fulani herdsmen (black people) would love to kill him. Meanwhile, the average South Korean is not bothered. Earlier this year, Igbos were flogged because they went to vote. Some Yorubas who "looked" like Igbos were also flogged by their kith, and someone wants to tell me that racism is worse? ![]() |
JaskanFactor:So, what do you say about the tribalism in Nigeria and xenophobia in most parts of black Africa? If to say the discrimination we have in Africa is accompanied with wealth, one would have looked away. But no, poor people are discriminating against themselves. Does that make sense to you? |
alt3r3g0:Anytime I notice people don't want to sit near me, I remember how tribalistic Nigeria is, and Nigerians are. I just forget whatever happens inside the train. |
ffo:Our people have spoilt the reputation of Nigeria in Malaysia. That was where most prominent yahoo yahoo boys honed their skills. HushPuppi notably. |
tunddy1:You cannot regularise your stay with a visit visa anywhere in the developed world, except probably the US. But you will always be wary of the police and ICE (immigration force). OgaTheTop2:He said he would respond, but he is yet to. |
NaijaNaWaa:Well, it is what black people have to face when outside their dominant environment. The only solution is for the dominant environment (sub-Saharan Africa) to be prosperous. Once that is done, everyone would want to befriend black people. No one likes poor people. It sucks, but na so life be. https://www.nairaland.com/5886610/racism-against-blacks-reduce-drastically |
Elvis2kay:Do you mean the Japanese? I respect them. I really do. They, especially the men, have been able to build a functioning society for themselves based on their cultural characteristics and norms. I applaud their tenacity, rule-based system and how the society functions. The women, especially young women, are facially beautiful. They lack the chubby features as observed in black women as a result of genetics, but from seeing them, you go know say suffer no dey disturb their skin. Why should it when they don't inhale generator fumes, enter poto-poto, sweat 24/7 and be exposed to constant noise ![]() The society runs optimally, and we, as black Africans, have much to learn from them. I tell them this every time I am asked why Japan? But yeah, I admire what they have done for themselves. |
grandstar:I understand the hoodie aspect, but I was not wearing one, nor do I have one. Most Japanese young men don't wear it either. I am yet to see anyone wearing a hoodie. |
DyingFetus:How does the world depend on the US for oil? As in crude oil? Oh! Please! The US ![]() |
tensazangetsu20:I am sure one criminal agent don deceive am say him fit get job with visit visa. Na so one come dey disturb me for Facebook say visit visa fit get work for Japan. I explained tire that it is not possible, he refused to listen. Telling me he has paid 500K for the visa (total amount is three million naira) and has applied for an interview at the embassy. I told him to contact me if he gets issued the visa. Almost two weeks now wey bros don apply for visa, I never hear from am. Let me even contact him sef. |
So, India's External Affairs Minister said the West is not the bad guy as portrayed by most people. The West is not the one flooding Africa and Asia with goods on a massive scale. The world is more complex than just the West being the bad guys, and the developing world, obviously being the good guys. https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/in-veiled-dig-at-china-s-jaishankar-says-west-not-the-bad-guy-because-2437001-2023-09-18 The phrase flooding Africa and Asia with goods on a massive scale hints it is China. Within the past few months, the West has been engaged in a bromance with Modi and India as a country. Notwithstanding that the US sanctioned the same Modi until he became president, and Obama rescinded the sanctions. In a bid to "contain" China, the West has entered into many alliances with countries surrounding China. Whether India will succumb to this newfound friendship is yet to be seen. I recall this same external minister was one of the major voices opposing the belief that everyone should stand with Europe because of Ukraine's rancour, saying, "Europe has to grow out of mindset that Europe's problems are world's problems". I wonder what necessitated the change in tune. LordAdam did say the Indians wish to benefit from the West just as China did, which I perfectly agree with and understand. But it would be stoopid of them (India's elites) to think they would not experience the same animosity China is facing if/when she (India) grows as big and influential as China. |
Karleb:The majority will be stereotyped judging from videos they watch about Africa, Haiti and negative actions by African Americans. However, there exists a significant proportion that like black people. This time, based on the positive actions and culture of African Americans, coupled with African American soldiers stationed in America's military bases throughout the country. African Americans are accorded a higher level of respect than black Africans. CandidAdmin:That one is her business. Sometimes, our people no dey try, especially black Africans. Few months ago, there was damage to sculptures in a shrine in Kobe by a Gambian. Now, if a random black person goes to that area, s/he would be viewed with suspicion and hatred because of the act perpetrated by "one of us". Which is why the first question you get as a black person is: where are you from? It is a common question non-East Asians get, but as a black person, it is to know how to judge the person. Follow-up questions can then chart the discourse. If you go to a top school or work in a reputable firm, the narrative changes regardless of one's nationality. |
CandidAdmin:Then, you use it to your advantage. Those people have money to throw around. So you, as the African, would have many opportunities since they want to be seen as "lovers of diversity", "helping other people", etc. People wey dey look for allies sef. Present yourself as an educated person, understand the language and culture, and grab the opportunities they offer. Since they know/have related with few black people, when they come across cool-headed black folks, they want to associate. Your interest is the economic opportunities which come with such an association. Remember, you don't have competition as in the West, where black people full everywhere. Economics over emotions. |
Litmus:When is Mr Litmus going to relocate to Nigeria from the United States? Don't you think you should practice what you preach? ![]() |
marlow1962:Except the person na orphan, family will be missed, and maybe food. Those are the two things I miss. If not anything, I cherish the level of safety I experience. It is breathtaking. |
A significant number of Japanese will not sit beside a foreigner who is non-East Asian except the train is full. When I went for an interview for my first part-time job, I used a narrow path which led to the train station, so I reduced time. More like short-cut in Nigerian parlance. At the point of entering it, one Japanese woman also entered. Few seconds later, she dey begin dey waka very fast while looking back. At one point, I wanted to say in Japanese that I am harmless, but my instincts kicked in, "don't say anything". Few seconds after that, she begin dey run o. Meanwhile, wetin dey my mind na how to arrive at the train station on time, so I reach the interview venue. Other than that, nothing else. The Emperor hasn't threatened to push me into the Sea of Japan. ![]() |
Ajibade123:No. China is the world's largest manufacturing nation. |
Woodshot:Just wanted to point out...very few Nigerian politicians' children attend top schools in the West. Okorocha, Saraki and one former Northern minister in GEJ's tenure had their children attend top schools. Orji Uzor Kalu's daughter graduated from one of the top elite and private high schools in the US. But generally, very few attend top schools. |
Nigeria needs a high-speed railway connecting major economic hubs of the country. Privatise the rail lines like the Japanese. It will make travel faster, cleaner and more comfortable. Privatise the so-called highway by installing toll booths Hint: The so-called High Ways will never happen. See Cross River and wide-mouthed Ayade. Unfortunately, Buhari worsened things when he used loans from the Chinese to construct a track to GodKnowsWhereInTheNameOfMaradi. Look at what Indonesia did with Chinese investments and technical know-how. The current APC baboons supported that atrocity of a feudalist cum president. |
SeaTrade:The poverty situation in Nigeria made it so. In prosperous countries where work plenty, the ladies don't exhibit such traits, at least in most of their lives. |
Well, as a hustling dude, I agree with that. However, as a made man, go for the lady without anything yet to her profile. That is what Seatrade said o, not me. I am only spreading his gospel. ![]() |
KingClown:Which got blessings from the US. If you noticed, the companies that dominated were Apple (US), Samsung (South Korea), LG, (South Korea), Sony (Japan), HTC (Taiwan), Blackberry (Canada), Microsoft/Nokia (US/Finland). The US is satisfied when she and her Alternatively, Chinese EVs should target the developing world. Flood Indonesia, Brazil, South Africa, Mexico, UAE, Kenya and even Eastern Europe with EVs. That way, a significant proportion of the world's population will drive EVs, but won't be by Western automakers. They fought Huawei. Fortunately, it survived and even got stronger. That is the stuff I have noticed about sanctions - it forces one to research ways out and come out stronger. But this only happens when the sanctioned people are united by religion, ideology, ethnicity or race. |
pansophist:I just dey wonder whether black people dey those countries and if dem dey, how dem dey cope and do things? I had to check the term "double landlocked", and learnt something new today. If Nigeria divides, we go increase the numbers cos countries coming from the likes of Kogi, Benue, Kwara etc would be triple landlocked. ![]() That said, yes, no means to align with the West. It is just like Mongolia. No country aside from Russia and China can attack her. It rests on China to ensure those places develop economically as they provide consumers and a labour pool to tap from. It is not as bad as peddled o considering their high birth rates. Interesting stuff... |
Few years ago, I had the same thought. But after witnessing women's hypergamy and the depth at which they carry Ndi feminism for head, I now support men who prefer chaste women. Since men carry the tag of being providers in households, they have the right to dictate the tune as they pay the piper. However, from observations of my female classmates who got married, I don't think Nigerian men do keep up with it. They still marry ladies who fvcked a whole lot during their university days. |
ednut1:It is actually legit. Nigeria's refusal rate is approximately that figure. chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/Non-Immigrant-Statistics/RefusalRates/FY22.pdf P.S. This is assuming it is the B1 visa category. fykes: |
LordAdam16:That will likely come from China, not Japan or South Korea. In Japan, laws prohibit the government from forcing citizens to do what they (the government) want them (citizens) to do. This was seen during COVID-19 when the government pleaded with citizens to take precautions, but there was no lockdown, unlike other countries. Borders were shut indefinitely. So, the government threatening citizens with loss of privileges for not bearing children will not happen. The same applies to South Korea, where a majority can speak or quickly learn English. Any law forcing such will see many exits from both countries to neighbouring countries to live. The phenomenon of low birth rate cuts across all developed countries. East Asia is just ahead of everyone else. Governments should find ways to structure societies and policies around low birth rates. High birth rates are a thing of the past, except they want to revert to history when women lacked education. But women, having seen the power education and money give them, will never want to lose it. Feminism aside, the trend shows that birth or marriage rates plummet once women are educated and start working. East Asia is a conservative region but wealthy and does not practice the vapid Ndi feminism as the West, yet birth rates are low. |
