Emmanuel909090:Countries or regions that implement such laws tend to be poor. You might think I am lying, but the UAE has liberalised its laws. Economic prosperity doesn't sit well with religious dogmatism. Remove crude oil, and most Middle Eastern countries would be very poor. |
tensazangetsu20:Alternatively, he register on Nairaland preaching how bad America is and why young and ambitious people should not japa. I will be here waiting for such a fvcktard, patiently. |
pansophist:Na for Instagram I know say Suriname is a black dominated country. I saw the flag during one Afro-festival and had to ask. Guyana I knew, but not Suriname. To think both countries are contiguous to each other. A pet dream is touring black dominated countries/regions/cities outside Africa, except Haiti ![]() |
pansophist:Only the foreign affairs section. I noticed that if one spends too much time writing a comment and later submits it, the likelihood of being banned by the spam bot is higher. However, even when I quickly submit the post, the ban still happens and only in the foreign affairs section. EDIT: Banned revoked and post reinstated. I will resume commentary. If I get banned, na to quote the Mod. |

sms4sure:How are they killing his career? The university omitted the alumni file of 1979, only for 1980 to show up. I was shocked sef. BTW, Atiku is the one pestering on the Chicago issue more than PO. |
Special kudos to Obedients, even though they can be mouthed at times. They have followed this case judiciously. Why did the university omit the alumni file of 1979? |
lastkingsman:To an extent, it is like heaven in Asia. Japan, Taiwan and South Korea can/might be better off than Singapore. However, what makes Singapore attractive to most people, especially those of non-East Asian origin, is that it is multicultural (although Chinese dominate the city-state) and has English as one of her official languages. But those features make her very competitive to migrate to. Apart from AUSNZL, Singapore is the only developed country where English is the official language across East/South East Asia. As a result, she is very selective in who she accepts. Even companies would screen certificates if the person graduated from certain countries (Indians from the mainland have been accused of applying to work in Singapore with certificates from degree-mill institutions). Singapore is smaller than Lagos but more populated than Bayesla. Also, it is very safe, and almost everything works there. The salaries are very high for all kinds of jobs, especially as a foreigner. Some Malaysians travel from Johor across the Causeway to work in Singapore because of the salaries. The education system is top-notch, such that parents living across the border overlooking Woodlands, Singapore, send their kids to public schools in Singapore. Foreigners are not employed to teach in Singapore's public schools. To get a job in Singapore, employers must advertise the job to Singaporeans and permanent residents for two weeks. Only after that can the job be advertised to foreigners. The Ministry of Manpower scrutinises these things, and companies found to be wanting are fined heavily. It is also called the Fine-City because there are many fines for every offence. Some offences come with caning, and trafficking drugs comes with the death penalty, no ifs or buts. It is on the visa issued and announced when entering the country inside the aircraft. It was because of the spate of drug peddling to Singapore by Nigerians that made them cancel the visa-free status in 2006/7. The $1BN is because citizenship is tied to race. So a Chinese who invests $5M into the economy would get approved for naturalisation over a black person who does the same. So for a black person to get it, the person has to invest more into the economy . Don't get me wrong, few blacks are naturalised citizens. But their parents got it during the '90s. There has been no recent one after the 2011 elections when the PAP lost significant votes as the citizens got fed up with the increasing population. Ever since becoming a naturalised Singapore has been extremely tough. Before then, to become a permanent resident (the first step) was like ABC if one earned a high salary. An example of such blacks: https://www.mindef.gov.sg/web/portal/pioneer/article/regular-article-detail/people/2023-Q1/11mar23_news1 |

LOL! ![]() As Nairaland's unofficial Singaporean lover, the only feasible way to work in Singapore as a black African is to obtain a superior education and work experience from a Western country and eventually its passport. Then, apply to jobs and recruiters or transfer to the Singapore office of the firm you work for in the West. Alternatively, if you are a very top tech bro/sis, and you luckily get recruited by a firm directly from Singapore. The salaries are really high, though, for the Asia-Pacific region. Singapore competes favourably with Australia in terms of high salaries, and apart from mining, her economy is more diversified than Australia's. Other than that, forget about Singapore. It is morbidly expensive. The rules are strictly applied, and the country is wary of Nigerian passport holders, which is why you must be on the right side at all times. Don't be surprised you could be sidelined at Changi Airport for questioning just because of the Nigerian passport, even though you have a legitimate reason for entering the country. Finally, remove your mind from permanent residence and naturalisation. Before 2011, it could have been possible, at least PR. But now, as a black person? It is almost mission impossible. I say so because the law does not explicitly state that blacks cannot naturalise, but naturalisation is tied to one's racial group. Historically, blacks have nothing to do with Singapore. So preference starts from Chinese, Malays, Indians, then others. The others here na White people and other races like South Koreans and Japanese. Then dem Filipinos, Indonesians, Vietanmese etc. I have asked a Singaporean doctor who graduated from elite schools in the country about the possibility of a black person being a naturalised Singaporean. He first smiled and laughed, then said it was not possible. Afterwards, he said, Well, invest at least $1BN into the economy then we can think about it. Also, I have read on Reddit/Singapore where a Ghanaian was told to his face that "just because you married our woman does not mean you would get the passport. Manage the permanent residence status you have". There you have it. ![]() |

LordAdam16:That is an insightful post you have there. About the bold, the Chinese are putting their all into semiconductors really hard. I believe it is possible, but it would take time. The old strategy has been sending Chinese to study at top universities abroad, get the knowledge and experience and move back to China. This has seen Western governments try to limit their numbers. A few years ago, even before the "trade war" started, ministers in the UK were worried that Chinese students dominated Computer science, mathematics and elect/elect engineering departments at elite universities. The Netherlands recently brought up new rules limiting the admission of Chinese students into "sensitive departments" in its universities. The US has started resenting Chinese researchers and scholars. However, I see this as futile in the long run as Chinese students still constitute the top two blocs of foreign students in Western universities. Without them, some departments will have very few students. In Japan, most PhD students are Chinese. The same applies in South Korea. Chinese students bring in hard cash, which is challenging to overlook. If not for Covid and the so-called trade wars, India could not have overtaken China as the US's number one source of foreign students. Even at that, quality over quantity. The courses studied by the Chinese rank higher in economic and geopolitical importance over that of the Indians. The second strategy is poaching scientists from Taiwan and Japan with higher salaries. That of the former has been very successful, but with new rules by the Taiwanese government, it is becoming quite unpopular. I read a comment on Quora where the poster said China can get ASML secrets by poaching the foreigners who work there. Since foreigners have no skin in the game and are only concerned with their pockets, rightfully so, it is a good option. One strategy here, especially in life sciences where the Chinese are way behind (the US is a dominant force in advanced biotechnology/bioengineering), would be to target Africans working/studying in the industry. Offer them higher salaries because I believe/think Chinese nationals would/might be restricted from working in the most sensitive positions. Nevertheless, Western life sciences firms are still hell-bent on assessing the Chinese market. Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca are still investing in China. The reality is, that the other options are not as profitable as China. India is not yet there to offer similar revenues, neither Indonesia nor the Phillippines. This is why I think China has a greater chance of winning - Westerners love money just like everyone else. The Europeans need the Chinese and vice-versa. It is why BASF is building its second-biggest factory in the country. Airbus and ABB generate billions from the Chinese market. Except there is a unison agreement among hedge and pension funds to accept lower dividends. But with an ageing population, that is not realistic. The third strategy is supporting Chinese firms with massive subsidies to develop the tech they need. This has been extremely successful in renewable technology. Whether it is wind, solar or EVs, the Chinese dominate disproportionately. I believe the same is possible in aircraft engineering. Below are screenshots and the link attached of Huawei being supported to develop semiconductor chips. SMIC, YMTC, UNISOC are examples. Aircraft technology should not be difficult for the Chinese if the Brazilians can have an Embraer. In my opinion, the Chinese are still not major players in life sciences and partly aircraft technology. Agrochemicals has been bought via Syngenta. Robotics through KUKA AG. Maybe someone can list the sectors the Chinese are way behind. But this semiconductor industry? I see them getting there by fire by force. As usual, when they do, they flood the market and prices plunge. Additonally, Western and allied countries' firms are still interested in the market because China alone generates ~30% of Nvidia, ASML, Tokyo Electron, Lam Research and ARM revenues. Currently, policymakers want to extend the sanctions to lower tech chips, but the companies no dey gree. Like Nvidia boss - a Taiwanese - said, paraphrased "This will make the Chinese develop their versions and cut off Western companies. After developing these chips, they will flood the market and drive down prices." As for Taiwan and chips aka TSMC, I don't think both are major reasons the US aims to prevent a reunion. Should China take over Taiwan (which is only a matter of time), China has landed a punch on the West's face. It is that humiliation the West does not want. Mere looking at the map shows that China is being encircled - Guam, South Korea, Okinawa and now the Phillippines. So much for China is being aggressive towards her neighbours. ![]() https://archive.md/2023.08.23-143233/https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-08-23/huawei-building-secret-chip-plants-in-china-to-bypass-us-sanctions-group-warns |

You read comments page by page from random posters, and one realises they have/had strong convictions for relocating. They have seen results and are glad with their decisions. On the other hand, there are demons like RaptorX, and his cretinous cohorts who spew lies up and down. Again, as Tensa20 and I have preached, no one has lost betting against Nigeria. I am yet to see it happen. |
Love56743:Life must be terribly bad for our women there. It's not like India offers a strong passport. These are the things we preach constantly in the Travel Section. Yes, not everyone can move to Western countries on the first try, but some countries are better stepping stones than others. Those girls would be better off in Brazil or even Peru or Ecuador than India. cc: Regex |
Just to let folks understand the concept behind reducing birth rates. For Nigeria - a heterogeneous country - to dictate how many children a family should have is impossible. The heterogeneousness goes beyond religion, but it is also culture. Most respondents tend to mention the Islamic North but forget that some Igbo families have many children simply because there is a search for a male child. That is not religious but cultural, even for an ethnic group with one of the country's highest attainment of Western education. To reduce birth rates is simple: ensure Nigeria becomes rich. Countries with previously high birth rates saw them plummet because they got richer. Malaysia is an example. The birth rate has dropped significantly compared to when she was poor. Religiously, though, it is pretty high when compared to Chinese Malays or Indian Malays who are not Muslim as ethnic Malays. Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, also experiences a gradual drop in birth rates. The most striking examples are the UAE and Qatar. Their birth rates have dropped rapidly, again, because they got wealthier. So, a reduction in the birth rate is made possible by a growing economy. Couples would want fewer children because they have more money, which leads to time for other activities. China is an outlier because it is a homogenous country with a one-party system. So, adopting the Chinese model is impossible. Even her East Asian neighbours - Taiwan, Japan and South Korea - did not adopt such a model, but all suffer from low birth rates, with South Korea having the worst birth rate globally at 0.8 TFR per woman. The only country that tried the Chinese model was Singapore, and that worked mostly with the Chinese ethnic group; the majority, as Singaporean Malays and Indians, did not adopt it wholeheartedly. Singapore, too, just like Mainland China, has a one-party system, at least during her nascent years. Prosperity begets low birth rates. Culturally, some regions would still have more children, but not as many as today. |
Love56743:Nigerian girls or Indian girls? If Indian, are you implying they beg Nigerian men for sex? I am curious. |
fineberry:When the man ejaculates. |
Fredoh:You cannot outlaw prostitution when it is the oldest profession in the world. In a post you made, you stated men are sexually aggressive and have high libido than women because of testosterone. If that is true, how can prostitution be banned when the buyers are willing to pay any amount just to put the head inside? P.S. Nobody is discouraging legitimate businesses in Nigeria. Nothing stops you from patronising the woman's restaurant business, but you would be willing to pay a lot just for one round. The reason sex workers charge high is because of the risks involved. The greater the risk an occupation has, the higher the prices/salaries/wages. Women in this case are the only service providers. So, they have total monopoly. https://www.nairaland.com/7684230/how-reduce-hook-ups-nigeria |
Michaelspresh:Abuja men have money to fulfil any fantasy of their choice. Well, since you are not interested, my advice is to stay away from such men. But don't criticise the ladies offering such service. As you have pointed out, the demand is high and the wage is astronomical. |
GEEBITE:That is why I don't involve myself in the so-called anti-racist mumbo-jumbo I see daily. Worse happens amongst people I share the same skin colour with. |
SonofGod231:Are you sure ladies there charge 30K for TWO NIGHTS? Then again, Lagos has wealthier residents than Kano and attract more non-Lagos based visitors. So prices can remain as they are, but minimal increment as previously. |
matm:Prostitution is as old as mankind. Why the faux morality?! |
Kingosytex:Sex is not free. Every man pays at a point. The minute percentage of men who get it for free are very handsome, of which the majority of Nigerian men are not. For instance, married men pay for sex via commitment. The energy mostly required to fuel the intercourse comes from the man and psychology has proven that women enjoy sex more than men. That is not true. Research studies say men enjoy it more because of the presence of testosterone. Women have little amount of the hormone. If men were not enjoying sex, they will not go on the length to get it. Also, most women complain that they don't achieve orgasm - which is their form of enjoyment. |
Anonymoususher:Converting a visit visa to a working visa in Canada is almost impossible except if you come from a country with LMIA approval, which Nigeria is not a member. Your friend will experience the same issue. Why do you people like using agents when every piece of information is online? |
samsegs:Most of your politicians and celebrities japa'd during their youthful years. A whole lot did. How did almost all achieve second passport status? There is no prominent Nigerian politician who does not have a second passport for him/she and his/her family |
ThiefnubuBandit:Some people decide not to leave Nigeria for personal reasons, which should be respected. The problem is that some of those who preach anti-japa/relocation to those who actually want to leave do so dishonestly or are propelled by wickedness. |
Donpre:I had to re-read what I quoted. My bad. I would go with Tensa20's figure. Thanks. It has been modified. cc: lastkingsman |
lastkingsman:It is less than 70%. There is a website where the stats can be seen as published by the Canadian government. Tensa20 shared it with me. The extent to which he has dug into immigration policies is mind-boggling but highly commendable. |
DrAkpamudehe:I really don’t get your animosity regarding his choice. OP has actually worked in Europe and returned to Nigeria, where he was a remote worker after being a mechanic. This is something he has written extensively on Nairaland. He then decides to relocate and begins his search on the best, straightforward and affordable route to emigrate to the US - his dream country. At one point, he wanted to study at the University of Virginia as that was the only university that accepted non-computer science/mathematics/elect engineering grads into their Computer Science master’s program. OP does not fancy the UK and most of Europe due to their ever-changing immigration policies and how it long it takes to become a naturalised citizen. From his deep and thorough research, which I applaud, he discovers that South American countries’ passports are very strong. Furthermore, he discovers that certain countries enjoy labour privileges with developed countries. These privileges range from Working Holiday Visas to Youth Visas or Farming Visa. OP dug into the H1B system through which most tertiary-educated foreigners use to access the labour market. Before Covid, the probability was high, but after Covid, the chances dwindled drastically. So, he decides not to study in the US since, after studies, one is not sure of easily attaining US citizenship. There is a need for stability rather than running helter-skelter. From there on, he discovers that citizens of Chile, Mexico, your darling Australia, Singapore and Canada ENJOY unrestricted access to the US labour market. OP is hell-bent on working in the US by fire, by force. But as a legal citizen of a country with strong ties to the US. He emailed Mexican universities, no response. Singapore is out of the question as being a naturalised citizen as a black person is almost impossible since naturalisation is tied to one’s race. Australian universities are very expensive, even more than the UK. The same cost applies to Canada and before Covid, 8 out 10 student visa applications were denied by the Canadian embassy in Nigeria. I did not pull this stat from my yansh. It is on the Internet. Chile is left, and he emailed the universities and got some replies. He enrolled in a Spanish language class and paid his tuition fees. Today, he is in Chile. Now, Mr-I-Worked-In-The-HoR-And-I-Have-Mansions-In-Nigeria-Which-Nobody-Asked, what is bad in his approach? |
