TesoDee:Where is User321, who accused me of dashing people's hopes when I said people should stop targeting Germany for studies? Is TesoDee dashing people's hopes as well? ![]() Look, in this life, we have to be ruthlessly realistic and sometimes be pessimistic. Look at the numbers closely, regulations and read people's experiences before having high hopes. |
Akts:Photocopy your certificate alongside your original certificate to a public notary who certifies it with a stamp that carries his name, chamber's seal and contact details affirming that the certificate is original. Then send that notarised copy to the school. Don't ever send your original certificate to an organisation/institution unless during face-to-face interactions. Please next time, follow instructions or ask questions when not sure so that you don't incur more costs. As it is, you will pay another courier fee for an activity you should have performed once. That said, my immigration oga has said Czech Republic is a no-go area, as seen below: tensazangetsu20: |
abike12:https://www.nairaland.com/5886610/racism-against-blacks-reduce-drastically When will I ever be wrong? ![]() |
gforce5:Thank you for your response. Seeing those South Asians at the bottom tells me that culture is everything. You are right that blacks in the UK are not fully represented compared to their cousins in the US - Democratic Party. Also, the Conservatives were smart by nurturing ethnic minorities within the party. David Cameron did the magic, and that is where the Republican Party failed in the US. In your opinion, what do you think or predict of the recent black African migrants in the UK in a decade's time? |
killsmith:The majority of debt owed by African countries to foreigners, whether national governments or institutions are to the West and her sister organisations like the IMF/Word Bank. Nigeria is an example; we owe China the most as a country, but overall, Western countries and organisations are our biggest creditors. Regarding the seizure of assets, it was stated in the loan agreements na. Why collect something one cannot re-pay? For instance, Buhari collected loans to build a rail to Maradi instead of linking the southwest and southeast - two of the most important economic zones in the country. Is that China's fault? Let's go to Ghana, which borrowed massive loans from Western institutions only to use am build what could have been one of the biggest churches in the continent and employed more than 1000 PAs to the president. Today, Ghana sought and received loans from the IMF, for the 17th time. Na China cause that one? The interest rates are not even high, and one can pay in Yuan instead of the dollar if currency fluctuations are a problem. Secondly, some African countries have complained about the weight of the loans relative to the sizes of their GDPs and sought re-adjustment, to which China agreed. Kenya and Zambia are good examples. Being pragmatic as she is, China has opted to trade by liberalising trade rules in importing agricultural products from Africa instead of the usual infrastructure. Meanwhile, accessing Western markets is extremely tough for most African farmers, apart from flowers and coffee from mainly East Africa and cocoa from West Africa, all in their raw states o. Europe's cousins in South America have it hard to export agricultural produce to the EU, but all rely on China as a major market. killsmith:That is not true. The history says it all. It was not China that plundered, and still plunders, the DRC for donkey years. It was not China that butchered the Himba tribe in Namibia, the first genocide committed on an ethnic group/race. That was where the Germans learnt work before the Holocaust. What about apartheid, was China involved? When China was constructing rails in Tanzania even when she lacked the expertise as she did today, where was the West? Na China enslaved blacks go America, Brazil, Caribbeans? In my opinion, the issues many Africans have are poor negotiation skills, not utilising the finances appropriately and being dogmatic. China has eclipsed the West as Africa's biggest trading partner without sponsoring a coup, genocide or war. The facts are there. Which president has China used its power to topple across Africa? Before China, would Africans have been able to purchase Android devices to access the Internet? Huawei to ensure 4G and 5G networks are widely available? However, Africans don't have to stick to one major bloc, but be able to choose without coercion or bullying, none of which China does. Again, the facts are clear on it. Inasmuch as we can benefit from the West (I am having a hard time recalling any major benefit Western countries have invested into Africa willingly, not in a bid to compete with the Chinese), we should not treat the Chinese as if they are the worst because of some misunderstanding of facts. |
greenermodels:I recall it, too. One prominent lass who resides in the country with a moniker starting with the letter J said some Nigerians were either disregarding rules in the country, breaking them and trying to scam the system. She stated if they didn't behave, the immigration rules would be tightened, and here we are today. But I am accused of dashing people's hopes?! |
User321:The facts on ground says it is not feasible. How is that killing hope? I recall there was a time when some folks wanted to protest at the German embassy and actually protested on Twitter. Did it change anything? The Nairalander UPDATED2020 was at the forefront of it. Before, it was six months, then one year. Now, almost two years, and you accuse me of dashing people's hopes?! The fact is clear: if one does not have a first class as at 2020 or is able to secure a scholarship, the person should look elsewhere. Also, people should stop learning a hard language such as German when the opportunities to japa to where it is spoken is tough. This morning, I read that Rwandans who could speak Chinese earn at least $500 a month working as translators in the country. Even if they don't travel to China, the economic opportunities which learning Chinese brings are worth it. How many German companies dey active for Nigeria? In your daily lives, how many Germans you don see? How many German companies dey invest in Nigeria? https://www.scmp.com/week-asia/people/article/3237105/mandarin-learning-takes-rwanda-boost-job-prospects-its-best-commercial-language |
greenermodels:As you can read, getting a visa interview is not feasible. Why should students spend almost their entire study duration (two years) waiting for a visa interview? The argument was logical during COVID-19, but not anymore. Like person go do online classes within that period whereas his/her contemporaries don almost finish their programs elsewhere. ![]() No na! It is unheard. Simply make it impossible to be granted the visa like Poland and Czech Republic do. Thankfully, universities in those countries warn African students to avoid them since the visa issuance process is tough. People should let go of Germany. It is not realistic. Why e be say our people no dey like hear word?! Yes, French is a useless language to learn because the majority of francophone countries are horribly poor. To japa to a country with feasible economic opportunities via study route, few of which are in Africa, the best language to learn is Spanish. For business, as Anglophones, the best language is Chinese. Canada's Express Entry makes it look like French is useful, but seeing the current scores in the latest draw, it would require an elite profile to attain the minimum score just to qualify for ITA (Invitation to Apply). Most people who opt for study visa don't have the kind of profile Express Entry requires. cc: alakara |
tensazangetsu20:But we have warned people on this forum about Germany's new visa restrictions since 2021. What were they thinking? With Sweden being Europe's Colombia, British Home Secretary Suella Braverman and Olaf Scholz saying multiculturalism has failed, expect the mother of all immigration tightening. German should not be learnt by an Anglophone African. It is effectively useless. The countries where it spoken have tough immigration rules: Austria has a convoluted student visa application process, and the mother of all, Switzerland. Even native Europeans fret when the country is mentioned for work purposes. Sha, I know what I am best at. ![]() |
greenermodels: Bethxxie: bamdexfarms: LandMann:I would be accused of being petty and puerile, but my preek rises whenever I see the results of what I warned earlier happening. There is this joy inside of me when I get the opportunity to say I told you/I warned you We have a nigga who can hear what Olaf Scholz says. We had another nigga who studied German in his undergraduate, but both cannot get a visa interview. Visa interview o, not the visa itself. But hey, Ndi Study in Germany would say otherwise. I would always be here to remind y'all. Goodluck to everyone involved. cc: Nietzsches Don't learn German. Don't say I did not tell you. As it is, it is a useless language to learn for economic purposes by an Anglophone African. In front is French - a thoroughly useless language. |
martins2021:Search for organisations that offer English lessons and apply. I have no idea of their recruitment process. The information is online. However, because it is English, you will find posts/comments by mostly Westerners complaining of long hours and low pay, none of which don't apply to you as a black African. With your degrees and hopefully knowledge of leetcode, you can change to a tech job while in Japan. Alternatively, search for recruiting firms if you have at least three years of experience to get tech jobs. Jobs are not the issue, but whether companies would be willing to sponsor someone from abroad or if the person speaks/understands Japanese is where the issue lies. The fastest route is the English teaching role. Your educational qualifications are in order, as the minimum requirement for visa issuance for employment purposes by the immigration authority is a bachelor's degree. |
tensazangetsu20:Apart from how safe the society is, another aspect of life I applaud the Japanese is the train system. These guys have hacked it thoroughly. Sometimes, I feel like crying when using the train. The way it moves, speed, the mannerisms of the drivers and everything about the rail system. I bet they can construct a railway line while asleep. Na small small things like this dey increase life expectancy rate. Karleb:I was happy when I saw the news that the monorail in Lagos started work. Before then, Lagos was the only city in the world with over 20 million residents without any rail transit. The city abi state needs rail and monorails. The market is there to make money out of it. If need be, they should privatise the lines as the Japanese do. When the rail is good and working optimally, copy Singapore's ERP system. Trust me, when the rail works, most people would not want to drive except for personal reasons. Development no hard these days. There are enough templates to copy from and tweak to personal tastes. |
superdee01:That salary is the standard for fresh ALTs. No company is supposed to ask you for money before employing you. Yes, once you get the COE, the visa is approved, barring any unforeseen circumstances. That is the great thing about Japan's visa process - issuance of the COE means the embassy just to go through your application and approve it. Your friend should expect her visa within three days after the application. If she submits it on a Monday, she should get the visa by Thursday latest. The problem with the COE is that it takes almost three months to issue it. Although, the government wants to reduce it to a month for highly skilled workers. ALTs run as the demand arises. I am currently an English teacher for a branded organisation and from the interview, the busiest periods are March, July, August, September and December. So, I believe it should almost be the same. The firm will help you both with finding an apartment, SIM registration and city taxes. Welcome to Japan! ![]() |
Karleb:I am curious, why is it so? Abi dem never fix the Lagos-Abeoukta Expressway up till now? . |
superdee01:I checked Google and did not see anything. Does the school have a website? If yes, kindly provide the link. Minato is like Maitama - a major elite area in Tokyo, and, invariably, the whole of Japan. Salaries would be higher than in most areas, but you cannot rent an apartment on it within the area. You would have to live far away to adjust for living expenses. I don't know how ALTs are hired, but I know that Zoom interviews are an integral part of interviewing in Japan. Before there is a physical meet-up, interviewers want to see applicants via Zoom. So, I am a bit sceptical. Before an offer is issued, I strongly believe there must be an online meeting. If such can be requested from people in the country, how much more for someone in faraway Africa, considering the process involved in applying for a COE on your behalf? |
gforce5:If there is one stereotype I have about British elites is always assuming they either studied at Oxford or Cambridge and few times, LSE or Imperial College. I have been wrong a few times. The only black politician I know of who studied at an Oxbridge is Bim Afolami, whose dad is/was a GP. Although there has been a rise in blacks studying at Oxbridge, but apart from costs, what else hinder the growth? I think the route /path of migration matters a lot in wealth building apart from social/ethnic/racial cohesion. Which sectors/industries do educated blacks in the UK tend to congregate the most? I think of medicine, law, finance and higher education. In your opinion, which sectors lead to the upper middle class in the UK, apart from finance and elite law? Lastly, I think we should be distinctive about "Asian communities". This is because East Asian communities have little in common with South Asian. East Asian tend to dominate in North America. |
I don't see China losing that position any time soon, and I am surprised how the Indians have not been able to leapfrog past other countries, especially those with smaller populations. Also, I see Vietnam and Thailand rising if they can really prepare themselves to receive the factories from exporters who want access to the US market but not from China. But then, Malaysia and Thailand are presently production grounds for Japanese, Chinese and American companies, yet they don't feature on the list. This shows how competitive it is to be a major exporter. To a great extent, geography is destiny. If Southern African and East African countries can put their houses in order, they should benefit from the outflows of investment from countries with high cost of labour. The UAE being a major exporter means Kenya can become a mid-level exporter if things are properly aligned. Being born into a landlocked country can mean one thing: being a citizen of a landlocked country where your neighbours are poor is a double whammy. pansophist:To add, the Russians did not diversify their economies as the Chinese are doing. Oil provided free money, which the Russians could have used to deepen the expertise level of the citizenry further. The Russians are badass in mathematics, science, including literature, sports and arts. So, there is no how they could not have been a major economic power as China is today. Na the problem awuff cash dey cause - it makes one too comfortable. |
The advanced chip by Huawei has gotten policymakers in the US to be apprehensive, unlike what their supporters on Reddit parrot. The Commerce Secretary has even stated more sanction tools will be explored to further clamp down on the industry in China. Meanwhile, a member of one mumbo-jumbo think-tank has outlined ways for the US to ban Chinese EVs from the American market. As I suggested earlier, Chinese EVs makers should shun the US market and focus on Europe and other parts of the world. Good thing BYD is investing in Brazil and Geely in Malaysia. Flood those highly populated markets with EVs such that Western automakers would be on the backfoot when they realise their folly the same way they opposed development in EVs. Advocating for policies to stem the tide of Chinese EVs into the US market: https://archive.md/SgZZC (free-to-read) Within the week, Indonesia inaugurated its first high speed railway, and the first in the region - South East Asia. Just as it is in Nigeria, DRC, and Zambia, so is it elsewhere. While others get military bases and LGTV policies, China delivers world-class infrastructure to the rest of the developing world at affordable rates. Indonesia had to choose between Japan and China, and went with the latter - it got delivered with alacrity save for Covid. Meanwhile, the deal between the Japanese and Indians is yet to kickstart due to pressing issues. China agreed to transfer technical know-how to the Indonesians, Japanese did not. I interned at a Japanese pharmaceutical company recently. While discussing the case study presented and possible entry into Africa, I told the Chinese employees that the so-called trade war between China and the US is because the West envy China's growth and is angry that China is not succumbing to threats and bullying, which they agreed. Also, unlike Westerners, the Chinese are very pragmatic - we do business and everyone goes home happy. That has been the reception I get when I discuss with the Chinese - we do business, make money and go home happy. China has economic issues they must solve, and hopefully, it is done quickly and smoothly. On the other hand, in this semiconductor chip industry, I see them winning the war. During my usual reading, I came across an article where a former Samsung executive, now a politician, complained that the US is being selfish by dictating that South Korean manufacturers who have invested billions of dollars into factories and development centres across China have to let go of the market just to satisfy the so-called trade war against China. One could sense the frustration and agony from her words, but knowing that South Korea cannot say no to her master, one could sense the subservience. In her words, “If [Washington] continues to try to punish other nations and to pass bills and implement ‘America First’ policies in an unpredictable manner, other countries could form an alliance against the US,” Yang told the Financial Times in an interview. “The US is the strongest nation in the world,” she added. “It should consider more of humanity’s common values. Appearing to use its strength as a weapon is not desirable.” When we say na vassals, not allies, e get why. Why strangulate your ally's ability to serve a large market while you invest billions into your manufacturers, then prevent others from benefitting from the largesse? Chipmaker's executives in South Korea cannot do without the Chinese market, they will be done for it. And the day China succeeds at it, that is the end - semiconductor chips will turn to pure water. Just as the South Koreans are not happy about the whole issue, the Germans are too not happy because they know the importance of China to the German's economy. But Anglo-Saxons will disagree. They even accused the South Korean politician of being sponsored by China. Envy no good o ![]() https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/27/business/samsung-hynix-south-korea.html free-to-read: https://archive.md/oLyXw https://www.scmp.com/economy/china-economy/article/3236785/refreshed-china-germany-deal-helps-beijing-keep-economic-foothold-west-amid-us-led-decoupling |
Gerrard59:The Swedish Prime Minister called the army to help combat the gang wars in the country. The majority of the perpetrators are second generation immigrants who work with the recent migrants the country accepted enmass. It will only get worse as the continent is faced with low birth rates, restrictive immigration policies and being abut to the world's poorest continent. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/sweden-opposition-party-calls-military-tackle-deadly-gang-war-2023-09-28/ As explained a while ago: https://archive.md/ziHwl You go think say na Colombia the article dey describe. |
gforce5:Na we do ourselves. There is a level of cooperation and camaraderie amongst Chinese from different countries - Mainland China, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia etc., except for maybe politics. But I don't see such amongst blacks from different regions except so-called diaspora wars and which women do this and that. Or could the UK's case be so because the blacks are from different regions, unlike the US, where the majority have a common origin? Indians were not conspicuous in the financial sector? What do you mean by gradually taking over the financial sector? To be honest though, I am always afraid when Indians start flooding an organisation or country or field, it only means one thing; they would dominate it and employ their people over others, except probably the white man. Second bold, there are more blacks in the UK than in France? |
EducatedMind369:It has its good and bad sides. Isn't that the Nwa Boy system Igbos practice? Not everyone can be an entrepreneur and the sort of business that post suggests no pass buying and selling. The surest route out of poverty and into the middle class is via quality education. Rather than cajole teenagers to become traders, arm them with the necessary skills to study relevant courses, and at good schools. |
Sometimes, one wonders what the governors of Akwa Ibom and Rivers do regarding meeting foreign investors and chairs of blue-chip companies. I thought some say Onne is a major port for the export of non-oil products? ![]() |
Yusufisraelj:That is not how things should be. People should be honest. You should demand honesty from people. This is one of the reasons it is hard to do business with Nigerians and why the country is a low-trust society. Yet every Friday and Sunday, road go block because say dem dey go mosque and church. ![]() |
Westchester:It is a major reason I don't chat with ladies in Nigeria. I am afraid of billing. I grew up with the mentality that every money must be worked for. No free lunch. I can be in a platonic relationship with a lady and even go on outings on my pocket. But e get limit, and at my discretion. Also, I know that genuine desire cannot be negotiated. If I want sex, I will state it explicitly, and I pay my escorts good money. If I don't want sex but an ordinary friendship, I am ready for it. Just don't ask me for money, else you have to work for it. |
creativehubb:Nigerians pay taxes, so I don't know why people parrot the claim that taxes are not paid. People tend to look at it from the formal sector as the informal sector is "less taxed". However, there is what is called a levy, which almost every business, no matter how big or small, pays. The combination of taxes and levies leads to multiple taxation, most of which are punitive. Also, in return for not paying taxes, people pay on their own for services, basic services o, which should have been provided by the government. By not paying taxes, roads are not maintained, hospitals are not stocked up with standard equipment, security agencies have to be paid before they act on a case etc. I am an advocate for low taxes to ensure businesses thrive, but they are essential as they form the bond between the state and citizens. A society where people less to no taxes, with limited sources of revenues, is an anyhow society. However, there are examples of where low taxes are paid and amenities are provided: UAE, Qatar, Switzerland, Luxembourg etc. The underlying theme is low population and excess natural resources. Nigeria is highly populated, so taxes are necessary to provide the needed infrastructure and amenities. Bonny Island can afford to be a "no tax" area, but Lagos cannot. |
gforce5:It probably means blacks are not as entrepreneurial as peddled in the media. My postulation is: the brains of first generation immigrants have been wired for enterprises suited to their dominant environments. But if so, what about second generation immigrants who grew up in the country and should have assimilated better than their parents? To be fair though, the UK isn't noted for big-time entrepreneurship and most of Europe's big businesses are in regulated industries and less dynamic in nature. The bold has to do with the refusal to enter partnerships and forging alliances. Everybody wan be boss on hin own. |
Aaaaarghmed:Some of these girls don't have self-respect. My sister would never ask a random man for money if her brother bought two cars within a short period of time. If I no get, she will ask my younger brother or my parents. Lots of irresponsible modafvckers these days!!!! |
Westchester:Don't give her the money for any reason. Her boyfriend, as she said, must be doing well, she should ask him. What about her father? Brother(s)? Male colleagues? Male classmates? If she is not so important in other areas of life, convert the fee to hook-up fee. That way, she has to make a decision. Nothing wrong with being a friend with a lady, but ladies should also respect boundaries with men who initially stated the sexual bargain of the friendship they sought. However, if you go ahead with giving her the money, consider it as a gift because she won't pay it back. Don't come back here complaining oh |
Newusername:I appreciate. |
