RomanceRe: Campus Prostitution A Growing Concern In Nigeria by Gerrard59(m): 5:13am On Mar 22, 2023
Rubyjade:
According to research by Britannica, sex has always been one of the few pleasures of the poor and oppressed. Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world. Do the math! While sex is part of normal human behavior, prostitution on the other hand is frowned on morally and legally in Nigeria and has now evolved from the road side and brothels to social media apps.
An unofficial survey revealed that the Transportation Network Industry in Lagos and Abuja (Uber and Taxify) generates 80% of it revenue from 8pm to 6am (with numerous instances where these females offer sex acts to drivers as payment for their ride fares #sexforrides).

It is left up to you to determine whether you support their lifestyle and professional choices or not. What should be a cause for concern is that the money these girls make from digital prostitution is tax-free. Our government is broke! Looking for loans here and there while we have millions of young females raking in an average of 200,000 Naira on a monthly basis tax free (using Lagos State and Abuja as our reference points) with an average income of 20,000 Naira per night
Like I have preached countless times here, it is always the jealous men whose deeks are smelly, useless and chanting alfa meil alfa meil alfa meil that whine about hookup. They never attack their wealthy contemporaries who patronise these girls, pay for their vacations abroad, sponsor these girls' siblings etc. You may ask, why don't these poor and envious men with smelly d!cks lampoon their fellow men? It is because they wish/hope/plan to be like them, but as they don't have money, they attack the girls rather than the men as if the girls are fvcking themselves and paying each other 20K per night.

These men are envious that their stinking pen!ses cannot generate 20K per night. Trust me when I say when the cost of gender change reduces, many of these men would opt for it so that they can deceive the patronisers to pay them for sex. After all, there are more cases of men pretending to be women in Nigeria than the other way round.

You are a coward. I forbid you from transferring your wave of cowardice to other Biafrans. My father carried the armors for the Biafran Army because he was too young to join the troops.

You have no right to preach cowardice here. So I should leave the land of my birth for the Fulanis? Are you mad? My wealth is in lands and my next 3 generations can not even exhaust the use of my landmass, and you think I can relocate to abroad? I came back to my country to build wealth and fight the enemies. You have not crossed a border yet I guess, but if you have, then you have no knowledge of what true wealth is.

Let tell you this. No man born of a woman can come to my community. You think I am interested in losing my homestead ? Never.

You better learn how to build landmines and bombs and prepare, and stop preaching escapism. May be you are Fulani trying to preach fear so people can leave their lands.

You have failed. We will kill you and eat you.
I would be here to remind you, and gloat at you. The same braggadocio Igbos on Nairaland displayed when Fulani herdsmen were ransacking Benue state that such can never happen in Igbo land. But today, the same herdsmen have a well-established base in Enugu and Ebonyi.

Peter is not Buhari. If Atiku and Peter contest, Atiku will win. Heck, Atiku won states in the north and south, which Peter did not and would never. Read this again, an Igbo man cannot become the president of Nigeria. Not anytime soon. The earlier you know this, the better. The closest to Igbos got to power was Jonathan, and we saw how he was maligned and treated. I witnessed the way he was treated leading to the 2015 elections. He was cursed and mocked. So, Peter and any subsequent one would face the same issue.

The north would never vote for an Igbo man. The earlier you know this, the better. As an assignment: read Nigeria's history dating to 1930 to understand a thing or two.

It's because they know very well that in case there is another war all their properties will be gone.
The idea of not developing your home first or understanding that charity begins at home is something that makes the rest of Nigeria laugh at you. That's not true. How many light skinned people were targeted when Tinubu was governor in Lagos? He embraced the Ibos and other non-Yorubas in Lagos. There's no video evidence of anybody being denied the chance to vote because they were lightskinned.Besides, anybody from any tribe can be fair or dark.
Everybody just saying what they like because some people didn't win. I don't understand this. Someone posted it first now everyone is singing it like a song.
You lots lie a lot and try to gaslight people. Chioma akpotha, WAJE and Prince of BBN were disenfranchised from voting in their polling units in areas which have a high number of Igbos. Those people posted video evidence. Others did videos to show the clear destruction of ballot boxes. In 2019, the same thing happened in Okota and environs. So, stop lying foolishly and try to lie intelligently. This time around, even Yorubas, who looked fair and well-dressed, were harassed. Go to Twitter and Instagram, people narrated their experiences - shocking, terrible and disgusting acts that were perpetrated by APC warlords. Lagos state government officials continue to post tribal information - describing the Labour party candidate as "Chinedu". That tells everyone the coordinated attacks have state backing. Yet you say it is a lie? You lots want to use the same tactics you used in denying #ENDSARS for this one even when #ENDSARS had videos, ditto as this one.

Again, I repeat, if you must lie, do so intelligently. This was how Gbawe was lying through his smelly fingers that Osun was the best thing since sliced bread because Aregbe was the governor. Only for the rasta-looking governor to vacate office and people got to see the extent he ruined the states with huge debts.

Keeping Nigeria is a task that must be done is ingrained in the blood of northern politicians. If you think the country will divide just like that, I have a bridge to sell. Name ONE COUNTRY in Africa that has disintegrated without a war? The average Nigerian is uninterested in fighting any war, and those who seem interested are outnumbered. As long as northern elites and now Yoruba elites align themselves with the west, Nigeria will not be divided. The earlier you know this, the better for you.

RomanceRe: Campus Prostitution A Growing Concern In Nigeria by Gerrard59(m): 5:04pm On Mar 21, 2023
Like I have preached for donkey months:

Gerrard59:
I read to the end. The major reason I like Nairaland - the real nature of Nigerians is displayed, no forming. This is how the typical Nigerian man spends on sex, and how he loves it. Like I've said countless times here, the average Nigerian man is sex starved. If the country was very liberal, culturally and religiously, like countries in Southern Africa, I doubt sex will be so monetized as it's in Nigeria.

To those who say get a wife or girlfriend, well, that doesn't stop men from patronising prostitutes. It's akin to those who say polygamy stops a man from cheating. In fact, the vast majority of men who patronise prostitutes are married men and those in serious relationships. As long as testosterone exists, men will always desire for sex and spend on it. To some men, sex is a hobby just as a sommelier loves tasting and drinking different wines. There are people who spend a lot on wine tasting and drinking. Hobbies can be addictive, one just has to manage it properly and financially.

Additionally, sex is not free. The belief that it's free is entirely false. Sex is paid for in either kind (offering a job, contract or admission), cash (like opined on this thread) and commitment (marriage/engagement). However, in rare cases, handsome men get sex for free. This is the top 1% of Nigerian men as the vast majority of Nigerian men are ugly (myself inclusive). If you think getting a wife equates free sex, don't drop feeding money or money for her upkeep and beauty products.

In conclusion, the best way to derive benefit from the sex industry is to offer a service or products that patrons and players consume. This could be as a restaurant (my hypothesis says 50% of restaurants in Nigeria will shut down should men be faithful to their partners, ditto 75% of hotels for the same reason), lounges, intimacy gadgets, herbs for sex enhancement etc. Men will always demand for sex, you don't have to play as a patron but as an entrepreneur. That's how my parents built their wealth.
Gerrard59:
The issue of hook-ups is entirely on Nigerian men. Men sustain the industry, not women. These women don't fvck themselves. The average Nigerian man has an insatiable demand/urge for sex and would do anything to get it. That creates a market, and since women can be the only suppliers, they cater to this demand. If Nigerian men indulge in celibacy, the rate at which young girls resort to hook-up will drastically decline. It is simple economics. Additionally, it is biological because men have testosterone which induces the urge for sex every single day, people who cannot tame it will resort to demanding for sexual intercourse, and another set of people have to supply that demand.

Also, in poorer societies, many women resort to selling their bodies because they have fewer economic opportunities, just like men resort to stealing. In richer nations, the rate is very low. Even in prosperous patriarchal societies, women don't resort to prostitution because they have a high standard of living. For prostitution to reduce (it cannot be eradicated as the average men will ALWAYS want to fvck), Nigeria has to be rich and Nigerian men have to tame their lascivious demands.

I have written about this extensively. The blame is on Nigerian men not the women.
Don't forget:

Gerrard59:
One thing I have noticed in sexual relationships or affairs is that the men who complain a lot about how women are so "sexually free" are never financially buoyant. They are always poor! I am yet to meet a man who bemoans sexual freedom for women that is well-to-do.
Gerrard59:
Trust me when I say it is always the poor men who cry every day that young women these days are fvcking everywhere as if the people these women sleep with are not men but ghosts. I can understand their pains - women are raking a lot from their genital parts while they (young men) cannot replicate the same. It can be painful, but if they understand a thing or two about biology and elementary economics, they will rather look towards seizing opportunities within the industry than lampoon all day on social media.

Cry today, cry tomorrow, cry forever, women will keep getting paid for sex, and men will always continue to pay. Nothing will change it. Sex itself is not free.

Tell the men who patronise these girls to stop the patronage. These girls do not fvck themselves.

Then, she would say "Nigerians don't know how to enjoy life", "even with money, you cannot enjoy life in Nigeria", And this is a woman who has money o.

Yes, regional government is the best. Let Abuja be weakened, and various states/regions elect leaders that can cater to their needs based on their cultural norms and beliefs. Use their natural resources for themselves, and contribute something to Abuja. Similar to the UK, and a little like the US. That is the only way Nigeria (various constituents) can develop and prosper. The elections in 2015 and a little bit of 2011 taught me lessons that the country is not united, and last I checked, divisive countries never prosper in the long run. Even when they do, they are not safe as prosperous homogenous countries.

I don't plan building/buying a house in Nigeria as we have properties already. I rather do Namibia than Benin Republic. I forsee Nigeria fighting another civil war. The case of residents in Ogun fleeing to Benin because of Fulani herdsmen and those in the North East to Cameroon or those in Western Cameroon fleeing to Uyo/Calabar are enough deterrents. I dread countries that have weak immigration policies towards Nigerians. The fewer Nigerias are there, the better.
PoliticsRe: A Tinubu's Nigeria And Nigeria In 2050 by Gerrard59(op): 4:27pm On Mar 21, 2023
In 2040-2050:

I stated this before the presidential elections. To analyse Nigeria, you should always expect the worse to happen.

Gerrard59:
1. A Muslim northerner will succeed Tinubu after eight years. The Muslim northerner will choose a Yoruba Muslim as his running mate. The bigwigs in APC SW are mostly Muslims. With Tinubu's presidency, they will cement their influence and power. Which means, for 24 uninterrupted years, Muslims will head Nigeria. The influence of the church will decline as division creeps in. Already, the elections have shown that Nigerian Christians are not united in the face of Muslim-Muslim presidency. Like I predicted on Twitter last year, should APC win in 2023, no Christian would get into Aso Rock for the next 16 years.

2. In two decades, Nigeria's Muslim population will not only increase by influence but by actual numbers. Maximum of 30 years, I expect Nigeria to have a solidified Muslim majority, and becoming an Islamic Republic. Christians would be economically disadvantaged with some converting to Islam and these rich Muslims marrying the daughters of Christians, including those in the south south and south east. The Christian men are obviously very poor due to limited economic opportunities and a large number having relocated. Men japa more than women. These women cannot remain single forever. This is already happening in Northern Nigeria and will extend to the east. During the relentless onslaught towards Northern Nigeria's Christians two years ago, I told someone who mimcks as a geopolitical analyst that Nigeria will have a Muslim majority by 2050. He said I was talking nonsense. Last year, he saw that Christians' birth rates in the south have declined while the north keeps increasing. Add the economic destruction Northern Christians have faced, it means their population has declined further. Expect to see Ezinne Mohammed and Ekaette Umar. grin

3. As for Igbos in a Tinubu's administration, they should expect economic warfare. Buhari did military warfare, expect economic destruction. The kind of Yorubas who support APC fervently DO NOT like Igbos. They will do everything in their power to deal with Igbos economically. With people like El-Rufai and Shettima, the job will done clinically. Igbos go get crumbs (assuming they get anything in the first place). These events will further reduce the wealth and birth rates of Igbos. Again, as an Igbo person, it is better you build your wealth and investment outside Nigeria. I stated this, but got insulted. As usual, when it happens, I will be here to gloat.

4. Y'all start learning Yoruba o and the Koran. It will be very important in seeking contracts and plum federal jobs.

5. As for the economy, the south west and the north will benefit economically. The rest of the country won't. Nigeria as a whole will not prosper because of the ethnic fractures - divisive countries never prosper. Since the south west will benefit economically, it is why number 4 is very important.

As usual, some will curse me and say I am lying. But as usual, I will be here to remind them and gloat. grin grin grin grin
Look at that bold and tell me I was wrong. I was not. It is out there. In fact, one of the reasons I am not deactivating this account is to ensure I come here to remind you people. I will always be here to remind you when the time comes.

In simple terms, Nigeria is not for you as an Igbo person or ethnic minority from the south-south. The earlier you know this, the better for una.

1. As an Igbo person, the bulk of your investment should be outside Nigeria. Tinubu’s administration would deal with Igbos economically, just as Buhari did militarily.

2. Ethnic minorities from other parts of Nigeria, especially the south south and even Northern Christians, should expect strong and in-your-face discrimination during property search, job search and anything official. You would be regarded as an Igbo person. This is more peculiar to Ibibios and Efiks as they look like Igbos. Another close group is the Binis. You should prepare to be denied access to certain places and things because you would be categorised as an Igbo person. You don’t know how to speak Igbo and are not Igbo. In fact, you might even hate Igbos, but whatever ill treatment Igbos face, trust me, you would experience the same.

3. Igbos in Igbo-dominated markets in Lagos should be prepared for the mother of all economic destruction. Computer Village, Ladipo, Alaba and other markets would be converted to other uses by the government, forcefully or otherwise. There would be an increase in fire incidents across major markets, leading to loss of goods and properties. Your investments would be razed down, and no one would rescue you.

4. As an Igbo person residing in the south west, you would be excluded from ALL state and federal government assistance and policies.

5. In the next twenty years, Nigeria would experience another civil war. This time, your properties would not be seized but razed down. Last time, you got 20 pounds. By 2040-2050, one pound or even one kobo, you would not see. Again, as an Igbo person, move your wealth outside Nigeria. Open offshore accounts. Buy citizenships of other countries. In this case, do it strategically. Don’t buy that of St Nevis but Grenada as it leads to the EB1 visa of the US. Get insured, but this is for the short term. The long-term is offshoring every money you have. Do not put all your wealth, savings and assets in Nigeria. It is better to live with racists in a prosperous place than reside with tribalists in the world’s poverty capital.

Tinubu is coming. Do not say I did not warn you. As usual, there would be some people who would say otherwise, but when it happens, I would always be here to remind you and gloat at you. I am very good at gloating. Ask around.

Lastly, YOU CAN NEVER LOSE BETTING AGAINST NIGERIA. NEVER HAS IT HAPPENED!

I think the Igbo people still have a good shot at this presidency of a thing if they can field a candidate like Prof. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala.
.
With her vast knowledge of economies and her experience at the world stage, we can be certain she has all it takes. Wikipedia currently quotes her age to be 69 which makes her much younger than the incumbent president.
.
She is known for her neutral stance in ethno-religious commentaries and she has worked with several Nigerian presidents and world leaders.
.
.
In my opinion, most Nigerians will vote for this woman if she ever runs for office.
Peter Obi was the best chance Igbo man had to become president. Still, he did not win as I predicted earlier because an Igbo man cannot win a national election in Nigeria. Anyone who has read Nigeria's history dating to 1930/1940 would understand it is easier for Trump to marry a black woman than for an Igbo man to become president. Then to Okonjo, she too, cannot win because she is Igbo and a woman. Northern Muslims in Adamawa and Taraba are always complaining why should a woman become the governor, yet you expect them to vote for an Igbo woman?

Anyway, I am glad this election has taught naive, deluded, newbie, ignorant and stubborn young Igbos how Nigeria works. For some of us, we learnt it since 2011 and mainly in 2015. Mind you, Jonathan is not an Igbo man, but he was treated as one. We have known Nigeria for what she is rather than what we think it should be.

TravelRe: What Exactly Does One Enjoy In Nigeria As A Rich Person? by Gerrard59(op): 1:12pm On Mar 21, 2023

While discussing with some buddies yesterday, we touched on the topic “moving back to Nigeria”. I argued that Nigeria is not safe. Sure, there are places that are pretty “safe”. However, my notion of safety is when other people elsewhere can go about their normal activities without fear. For instance, I don’t consider a place safe if one part of the area keeps suffering repeated attacks from Fulani herdsmen (like Southern Kaduna and Plateau). I don’t have to be the affected party, but others who go about their normal activities should feel safe doing them. The other guy countered that, with money, one could enjoy Nigeria. “Live in Maitama, run Lister generator and live quietly.” Also, you get to be in a place where almost everyone looks like you.

Upon hearing “…with money, one can enjoy Nigeria”, I asked him to list five things/ways one can enjoy Nigeria as long as the person has money. Surprisingly, he could not mention one thing/way. I thought it wise to throw it to the house, especially for those who are anti-Japa or those who have stayed abroad for a long time and currently reside in Nigeria.

As someone with money, what exactly does the person enjoy in Nigeria? What are the differences compared to his/her counterpart in say, Namibia or Canada/UK that also has money? How do you enjoy Nigeria provided the money is available?

P.S. I understand that the notion of “enjoyment” is largely subjective. Some enjoy going to parties, while others enjoy travelling around or even reading a book while in a park. But I believe there are some universal notions of enjoyment.
So, you are a rich Igbo man or woman, honestly ask yourself, what do I enjoy residing in Nigeria?

P.S. Heck, you can't even vote. grin grin
ProgrammingRe: Should Engineers Still Apply To FAANG In The Future After All This Layoffs? by Gerrard59(m): 12:59pm On Mar 21, 2023
tosinhtml:
Amazon plans to lay off 9,000 more employees, mostly in AWS and as we know this is powered by cloud engineers, IT technical support staff, tech managers and marketing staff. I have never been a big fan of FAANG but I reckon people should work there for like 1 year to boost your CV so recruiters would always be looking to hire once you add Ex-FAANG software engineer on your LinkedIn title.

Now, I wonder if all those 8 stages of rigorous interviews would make sense anymore seeing that there is no job security apart from Apple, and your job can be lost just like any other medium-size tech companies. I know some people on NL have made these companies their dream place to work but right now realistically, is it really worth it? Would It also be worth it 2 years down the line? If job security is gone, would the only perk just be for the prestige?!

I would say It is better to aim for smaller companies with great opportunities, where you and your small team can actually move something. A job where you are responsible end to end and learn and use many skills.
What is the likelihood of being recruited by a startup vs a big tech company as a foreigner? How many startups have the legal departments and resources to push for visas for new foreign employees? Why should startups - as the name implies - go the extra mile just because of a tabula-rasa employee when there are ex-employees from big tech companies?

For instance, in the US biotech industry, startups don't often recruit foreign PhDs because of the legal requirement and costs. Unless the person has performed wonders, companies prefer to employ permanent residents or citizens. It is the reason most foreign grads aim at Big pharma or big biotech, then once experience or citizenship is attained, they crossover to startups for higher pay and more responsibilities.

See cases of those who have PhDs wailing because no one is willing to sponsor, and unlike tech, biotech startups is where research and development is cherished and actually done.

Although I have noticed bias in some smaller companies where they also only prefer to hire ex-FAANG engineers first before anybody else, they propose a very high and compelling salary on the same job level and the disparity in salary with your co-worker is so much that It annoys you when you it gets leaked. The tech recruitment industry is very weird.
There is nothing weird there. It is simply business. An ex-McKinsey employee would be accorded more responsibilities and higher remuneration than someone from a tier-4 consulting company or a recent MBA grad because it is believed the McK employee has been thoroughly grounded and knows his/her onions, which is true.

It is the reason ex-Big4 employees in Nigeria get fast-tracked when they join banks or other companies after say four years at a Big4. The quality of experience differs. That is capitalism.

Joke of the day. So, OBA would have defeated Umo Eno when he did not pair up with Akan Udofia? How was that going to be possible? Na the same thinking Obidients get thinking Peter Obi would win leaving Tinubu and Atiku to come second and third.
