sukkot:Bullcrap! Why not drive across Nigeria anytime you like since it is safe? I have been driven to Kyoto late in the night, and the safety I experienced was priceless! I have never felt so safe in my life while on the road. I almost cried! You people just come here typing mumbo-jumbo. Few days ago, 46 people were murdered in a community in Benue. What did they do? Nothing! Today, 40 were slaughtered. Meanwhile, children as young as five use the train to move around unaccompanied and very are safe. Wouldn't you want that for others? Just as I expected, the most wicked people always quote the bible. After all, that was what you have been doing with your previous moniker. The same thing the rascal who calls himself Dayo Israel does. |
Rilwayne001:Apart from the bold, the rest are paid in Nigeria. So, what is the fuss about? Huh? Citizens dwelling in the world's poverty capital are comparing themselves to developed countries. The jokes write themselves. Even this one who supports Tinubu and anything APC is also talking. |
sukkot:Explain like I am five years, what is your problem with paying taxes aka bills? You think people living in Port-harcourt, Lagos and even Kano do not pay bills? I am a sucker for low taxes, especially towards businesses, but I see/understand the need for taxes. You want a functioning society without paying taxes? How come? You want good roads yet you whine about paying taxes? Are people in Nigeria getting water for free? Don't they pay school fees notwithstanding the strike actions? Don't they pay security levies here and there even to bandits? You see, this is my problem with Agbado disciples. The way all of you people reason is scary and leaves much to be desired. You people are a perfect example for the existence of psychiatrists. |
livingstone2013:Unless he intends to return to Nigeria in the nearest future, it is not advisable to convert your abroad earnings to naira. it makes no economic sense because you are not spending naira in the abroad. I rather convert it do dollars. Also, even with returning to Nigeria, inflation would have reduced the spending power of his savings, except he has a base to build on using the savings. |
jidobaba:They return only to support politicians that implement policies which made them flee in the first place. Honestly, sometimes, I see reason some whites would not have a black person, especially those who were bred in Nigeria to man political positions except as a diversity token. |
The problem with people like OP is their sheer hypocrisy and wickedness. OP is a British citizen and he supports Tinubu and APC. I can never take such people to be serious. They preach what they don't practice and practice what they don't preach. They are the first to shout rAcIsm but carry tribalism for head like gala. I know their antics so well. Only naive and ignorant people can be deceived by them. |
MrBrownJay1:It is possible and can even cost more than that if it is in London (like the YT video says), and she targets top universities in the city. For instance, MSc Computer Science at Imperial College costs 40K pounds for foreigners. Almost all STEM courses at UCL, KCL or management programs at LSE or Warwick or Durham are close to 30K pounds or above the figure. Tuition fees alone. So, it is possible. |
Talentuex:I would not advise advanced-age folks with huge investments to japa. However, they should plan for their kids' education and citizenship. Having African country citizenship can be quite restrictive when it comes to assessing economic opportunities in the global economy. Across the continent, the unemployment rates are extremely high, and to think the continent has more young people than elsewhere. |
When this unfortunate Orangutan supported Buhari in 2015, what was she expecting? Just like Pat Utomi and Kenneth Okonkwo. Foolish people. They never learn from history. Idiats! |
laiperi:She is donating the money to African students studying at Oxford. Every wealthy person does the same. Most of the donations by wealthy blacks in the US to elite universities are targeted at black Americans there. Elite universities produce the next set of leaders, politically and in business. To enable your kith to have a seamless study time in those places, it makes sense to donate to those institutions. If not, you would have fewer of your kith from those places, and invariably, fewer African folks in global leadership positions. |
but but but but but but but but but butt NiW:: https://www.reddit.com/r/immigration/comments/125sf88/friend_didnt_get_h1b_what_are_best_alternatives/ |
This coming from a man who married a woman that birthed children that are not his. ![]() |
amigo1088:Obviously a copied post. But let's assume it is real, what stops you from departing Canada? It is literally that easy. In fact, leaving Canada is harder than entering. So do the needful! |
maivd:Yeah, after voting for Buhari in 2015 % 2019 then voting for Tinubu in 2023, people should have sympathy for you? ![]() |
WHERE ARE THE COWS? |
horlahsunbo225:Without sounding like a broken record, I know this. But it is not guaranteed compared to being an international student based in Canada. The latter has a guaranteed/sure/almost 100% chance of being a permanent resident than the former. That is my point. Yes, NiW is an option, but it is not guaranteed compared to Canada's route. If OP had an offer from ETH Zurich, I would say take the American option because getting permanent residency in Switzerland is not easy for a black African (excluding marriage). Let break this down,You are trying to teach a bird how to fly. I know these things like the back of my palm. Now back to Canada, everybody knows that the labor market in 🇺🇸 is more lucrative than 🇨🇦. Hence, people go for 🇺🇸.Even an unborn child knows this, but for someone who has the option of going to Canada, he needs that assurance of being able to assess the US labour market on favourable terms. Unless you want OP to hustle employment with only Nigerian citizenship in an economy with layoffs here and there. The Biotech industry, for instance, except for large firms doesn't like recruiting international students, especially in a struggling economy with reduced VC funding. Except you did stellar research like a future Nobel laureate. However, most people are average or slightly above average. So I'm repeating once again than NiW is still one of the surest way, if you meet the requirementsNiW is a sure path but compared to Canada's option? It is not. Canada is certain. It is like the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. It is guaranteed. Certain. Confirmed. Sure. 100%. In fact, I am willing to bet that from 2015 to date, more Nigerian students in Canada with a PhD became naturalised citizens before their US counterparts all things being equal (excluding marriage). It is the reason I created that thread to know how Nigerian students in the US became naturalised citizens. I wager that the majority got there via marriage, including PhD graduates. I am open to seeing data that says otherwise |
martins2021:Not in all industries. The US has the most diversified economy globally with plentiful of opportunities. Then, as a black person, the US is the best place to succeed. There are more black dollar millionaires in the US than sub-Saharan Africa - which has more black people than elsewhere. In fact, I dare say, for any non-white person outside his/her dominant society, the US is apt for more economic opportunities. |
LordAdam16:PassportPorn, MBA, GradSchool, Investing, LeanFire, DigitalNomad, Travels, WallStreetBets, Singapore, GeoPolitics etc. To the topic, on FatFIRE, they encourage prenups and advice others to always be mindful of how divorce can impact wealth trajectory. And you have less to lose when your SO is a Bay Area FAANG techie making 400K+ than if she is an SAHM who handles your finances.Well, OP is in Nigeria. The guy I referenced earlier is doing so because where we are (East Asia) does not give room for that to happen. The culture is close-minded, and if she is to cheat, it is most likely going to be a fellow black dude. Who she wan follow talk to be wrongly influenced? If he was in the west, say UK, I am sure he would have doubts. Whatever you do, you should always work out the SHTF scenario.I got it from Pocohantas. The spelling is world-class! It is similar to "Intellectwats" - how I describe seemingly educated Buharists. But Raals got a point. Even BrownJay. The kind of formative education and exposure a Caucasian or Asian SAHM spouse of a high earner has under her belt beats 80% of the education the average Nigerian gets (and I'm on top of this table). So it's not exactly plug and play. And I'm sorry, but the sh*t women have pulled in Nigeria (and worldwide) is enough to give any man pause. Rather than blithely assuming the best possible outcome.Agreed, and it applies to almost all Nigerians. Read about an account where a surgery resident went home to surprise his SAH partner who he caught being unfaithful and he was so mentally f*cked by it that he truncated his residency. You know how residents in the US are overworked in competitive specialties. Oga could not wrap his head around making plans with his LOML and working his fingers to the bone while she was getting boned. If he'd never found out and she ends the affair, dude would be seeing seven figures at some point in an HCOL city, and she could potentially become one of the respondents on a similar thread.Such is life. No wonder one of my friends has resigned fate to his future wife cheating, provided his children are his (DNA proofed). He plans to marry and keep her in Nigeria. A lot of these alfa meils adopt that position after them chop better hot bfast. Yes he's broke. But even on top that brokeness, women for trenches no get joy. You go dey manage your phone wen screen don crack, gather money buy phone for babe wen go use d same phone and data wen she buy with your urgent 2k transfer tk arrange hookup with one Mr "that is just a friend". Aunty 1 level up too.Rather than lick their wounds, they should understand that the average woman is hypergamous. Wailing and posting negative opinions would not change it. However, I do appreciate their presence due to the over-Ndi feminism that has thrived for close to a decade. There had to be a rebuttal of sort. So kudos to them. They should understand men are the prize, so no point wailing. Just build yourself to be a desirable man. I knew these things right from my university days, yet you won't catch me posting negative comments about women. They come across as people who are/were poorly educated and exposed. Just as there are bad relationships, good ones exist. Be that as it may, Nigerian men drop the little they have. Even the alfa meils, after the bravado online, dem still dey drop sth. Nobody dey wear body cam. So you can't exactly begrudge many for trying to cover their bases. Na man go still tk care this woman finally, even if the OP sky. 28 year old beautiful woman in Nigeria: Na man dey support am now sef. That is another issue with them - wail online only to pander to the same women you lampooned once change enter hand. Which means it is out of frustration. They lampoon hookup girls but never the rich men who patronise them simply because they wish to be like those men. They should stop blaming the players and play according to the game. Nothing will change it, not even the so-called gender equality feminist miscreants scream about. |
MrBrownJay1:Sure, I would. Hopefully, you don't deactivate when the time arises like you have done previously. ![]() |
horlahsunbo225:Everyone has friends who have done these things, but we are looking at the numbers. What he can control is better than the things he cannot. Many would have tried it if it were that easy to get NiW. That is the truth. Regarding elite institutions, my point is: if na so NiW easy, why have these folks with stellar qualifications and publications not done the same rather than crying on LinkedIn? The probability of getting US citizenship via NiW, Marriage and Work sponsorship compared to the Canadian route to citizenship is low. It is easier and faster to become a naturalised Canadian than an American. So the best bet is to accept the Canadian offer, play delayed gratification and move to the US. You win in the long run. He is even better than most of us who still admire the US but are in other countries with nothing like a TN visa. A Nigerian who has a British passport is treated the same as a Swiss. However, Canadian-Nigerian gets preferential treatment, especially in some sectors rife with startups that don't have time for H1B process. Even Indians are now encouraged to apply to Australian universities, get naturalised and apply for E3 visa which gives Aussies preferential access to the American labour market. Then a Nigerian should now let go of a fully funded offer from a Canadian university when there is a sure pathway to citizenship and preferential access to the US labour market? ![]() Not all Nigerian students get naturalised via NiW (https://www.nairaland.com/7535720/nigerian-students-now-americans-how_, but literally all Nigerian students in Canada have a sure pathway to becoming naturalised citizens. Tumbo-tumbo is not good when there is a sure bet offer in hand. |
horlahsunbo225:If na so e easy, all those MIT, Stanford grads with PhD and MBA for no dey complain for LinkedIn na. Na so one for Twitter wey attend Caltech, Yale and Harvard cried for help. Today, bros in back in Trinidad and Tobago. This dude won an Olympaid during his secondary school days o. Then, na person wey try manage get 2.1 you dey suggest NiW to? ![]() |
luminouz:Actually, that is the same one of my guy plans doing, just as many of our kith do here. Provided it works for the family, it is OK by me. I will not dictate how someone should run his family as long as it works for the parties involved. In OP's case, it must not be a university. A polytechnic is OK. But she must be kept abreast with modern developments and ways on how to make money. Again, a SAHM is not wrong as long as the parties involved are fine with it. I understand you are a revered alfa meil. That is OK. But I am not responsible for dangling your smelly penis as you have been doing in the sexuality section for nearly a decade. |
Evergreen4:If he was going for his MSc, then that is a great option, including getting her pregnant. However, OP does not have tertiary education and undergoing tertiary education in the abroad is way expensive than graduate studies. Plus, his age almost disqualifies him for a visa if he is going for an undergraduate course. I don't know which graduate program admits foreign students without a bachelor's (3 or 4 years). |
EriMma1:So an educated girl who works in corporate Nigeria should wait for a hustler without tertiary education to later marry her? C'mon! Let's be realistic here... If he was already settled/stable abroad, even as a hustler, good. Or if he was going for further studies after his undergrad, better. As it is, the man is not financially stable. He wants to use his life savings for wedding o, not marriage. OP, I strongly suggest you get financially stable or be in the process of financial stability, considering your lack of tertiary education and wish to relocate. You need that financial stability not only for yourself as a MAN, but for your immediate family BEFORE bringing another family into your life. As it is, you are not financially stable. That is the truth. You have two options, re-invest that money into your hustle and expand on it or hustle in the abroad. Whichever way you opt for should be legitimate and not wuru-wuru. |
Sonnobax15:She does not have to work. She can be a SAHM managing the homefront. Rather than spend thousands of naira sending your children to daycare centres, you have the mother taking care of them. Inflation, competition for scarce resources and low salaries don scatter the system. But if you can make enough money, it is very OK for the wife to manage the homefront. Although caring for children cannot be quantified, it is an important contribution to society. She can learn online and if smart enough, can do one or two jobs online while managing the homefront when oga is doing work. |
ufotty2001:It is like you people don't know the effects the Nigerian economy has on its citizens. From your name, you are most likely based in Uyo. Imagine how it is for folks in Taraba, Kogi, Adamawa, Kebbi, Yobe, Ebonyi, Northern Cross River etc. The farming some indulged in, Fulani herdsmen no gree make dem rest. If she is good enough character-wise, yes, you can set her up and ensure she is educated on basic maths. I was going through a thread for people who have made so much money. The question was, "couples to these rich folks, what do you do?". Many responses came up, from women to these rich men, on how they manage the homefront effectively while the man makes the dough. It made me realise that inasmuch as it is good/OK for both parents to work, the traditional way is also good before competition entered the global economy. One wrote about how she manages his schedule to attend friends' events, children's school events, exercises etc. Another manages the investment aspect together with her husband as she has experience in investment management, but since the man out-earns her, she stays at home. Yet another wrote how she takes care of the four children, which frees up time for the man since he knows the homefront is safe and sound. She ensures he is minimally distracted as much as possible. So, having a SAHM (sit-at-home mom) is not entirely bad as most make it to be. Obviously, the woman should keep improving herself educationally and mentally to keep up with developments. This is common in East Asian societies even though inflation, low salaries and increasing westernisation are gradually changing the society. For instance, in Japan, men work and hand their salaries to their wives, who manage the expenses. This model can work for your household - you make it and she manages it. So far it works for you, it is very OK. Don't listen to hungry, uneducated, unexposed and mentally malnourished alfa meils. Their greatest achievement is chanting alfa meil, alfa meil, alfa meil while dangling their smelly preek around. |

E no get where you never go. Right from MrBrownJ to MrBrownJay to this moniker, I have admired your expeditions. Man! You are a living map! Hopefully, life tarries, I would want to meet you one day. Hopefully, in Brazil too. ![]() Kudos to your travels, and your signature really encapsulates your experiences. |
pocohantas:I know that thread and even learnt from it. Some people are so close-minded and dogmatic. They believe something can never be possible even though others have achieved it. |
lavylilly:White people, men and women, also cheat. The same applies to East Asian men and women. The difference is consequences both financially and socially. Most especially financially for the man in the case of divorce. That consequence does not really exist in Nigeria and most parts of Africa. When there are no consequences for ill-actions, expect those ill-actions to increase exponentially. There is little that differentiates humans from animals in the jungle. |
TimFisher2:Case in point: hookup skyrocketed as Buhari dealt with Nigerians economically.
