Drfernandez: you are naive politically and otherwise. Your little brain did not tell you that unlike the 1993 election where the two-party system was in place and was a two-horse race between NRC and SDP, which largely contributed to SDP victory, that it is not the same in the 2023 election.
The fact that you failed to tell yourself the truth that Atiku would do better than Tinubu in the entire North using your sentimental analogy, shows that you are completely naive.
The election will be Peter Obi's to lose, so he is winning by all indices available so far. God will judge us all Well, some might have misgivings towards Igbos, but being that PDP candidates are participating in the national assembly elections, they cannot afford to gamble with "vote LP for presidential and PDP for national assembly". Also, Akwa Ibom is a core PDP state. A goat being a candidate of the PDP will defeat Peter Obi any time any day. The only way Akwa Ibom would have contributed is if Perer Obi stepped down for Atiku. Tinubu was never going to win the state, but PDP has always won Akwa Ibom since 1999. Why did deluded LP supporters believe the state would be won for them so suddenly? |

Why should Peter Obi step down for Atiku when he will bring more votes than Atiku? LordAdam16: Why would Atiku reject Obi for VP in 2022 after he gave it to him in 2019?
Why?
Atiku chose Okowa after Obi left. And Okowa was chosen as reward for delivering Atiku in the primaries.
If Obi stayed and worked with Atiku, we'd be calling him VP-elect by now. But he felt he is bigger than VP position. GEJ was once a VP. Tinubu begged for VP in 2015. Atiku became influential because of VP. Let him manage his Presidential Candidate achievement.
Humility is important in politics. If El-Rufai gives Fashola VP position in 2031, he'll grab it with both hands, even though Fashola pass El-Rufai normally. But Obi is claiming he can't be VP to the Waziri. That he will win without structure. Now he came third in 4 SW states. Kano and Katsina, he is no where to be found. In SS and NC, they'll suppress his votes.
So how does he expect to be President? In 2027, will he defeat Tinubu? In 2031, even a Northern stone will defeat him handily.
The Waziri has accepted his fate. Allah wills.

tensazangetsu20: Nna men you be prophet o Peter Obi is better qualified than Atiku, but Peter Obi at, this current state of affairs in Nigeria, cannot win votes in the north west - where fresh voters are needed. Peter Obi did not gain fresh voters - none whatsoever. He snatched votes from Atiku yet has not won a single state. Atiku was the only formidable person against Tinubu not Peter Obi. Gerrard59: With this analysis, wherever Tinubu’s chances are higher, Peter Obi’s are lower and vice-versa. However, the issue is: the people who would vote for Peter Obi are folks who have historically voted for the PDP and did vote for Atiku in 2019. This means he (Peter Obi) is not getting fresh voters from groups that did not vote for the PDP in 2015 and 2019. For instance, in 2019, almost a million people in Southern Kaduna voted for the PDP. In 2023, some of those people will vote for the Labour Party further reducing the votes PDP would have garnered. Let’s face it: the Labour Party does not have structures in the hinterlands of the country or die-hard/historical voters.
The same thing applies to the south-east and south-south. In these regions, Peter’s chances are higher but these are people that have consistently and historically voted for the PDP across all electoral positions. For instance, prior to the senatorial elections in 2019, Godswill Akpabio defected to the APC and lost resoundingly to the PDP. Mind you, this was the same position he won with a landslide when he aspired for it in 2015 under the PDP. Why? The voters in his senatorial district voted against him mainly because he defected to the APC. These are core/die-hard PDP supporters. In 2023, these people will not vote for the APC due to its Muslim-Muslim combination but will divide their votes between the Labour Party and the PDP. The inclusion of Peter Obi in the presidential election does more harm than good to the PDP and his ethnic group, ditto ethnic minorities in general. I understand the pain of the south-east that the PDP chose a Fulani northerner as its candidate, but the reality is: an Igbo man cannot be Nigeria’s president in its present state. Kwankwaso echoed it, and I am saying that is the reality. The alternative is to have an Igbo man as the VP and Okowa does this beautifully, something Peter should have been the one had he remained in the PDP.
Again, a vote for Peter Obi and the Labour Party is a vote for Tinubu. Where-ever PDP could have competed greatly with the APC, Labour Party snatches those vital votes, and this affects PDP’s odds while increasing Tinubu’s. Even prominent APC’s supporters have said the same (screenshot attached). Peter Obi cannot win the presidential election, and his inclusion affects PDP’s chances and increases the prospects of having a Muslim-Muslim presidency.
In summary, Peter Gregory Obi should step down for Atiku Abubakar. *Coughs* Gloating...1...2....3..... |

Ibtxxo: Sometimes I ponder why some youths blame the government instead of their unfortunate father like mine. I don't blame the government but my useless dad that was too lazy to think well and plan well before getting married. This is the man that worked for 12 years before getting married when Nigeria was still manageable. That 12 years he worked was a complete waste. No single achievement before getting married. You worked for 12 years when you were single. You couldn't build house or property. You couldn't connect or have big connections that will set you up or children up for better tomorrow. You married yet you couldn't train your kid or give them a better education.. Unfortunate Nigerian Fathers are the cause of kidnapping, robbery, unemployment, cyber crime, prostitution and social vices in Nigeria not the government. I know it is not easy especially for those from poorer backgrounds. I know what poverty looks like, and to worsen, poor people tend to birth plenty children. This is a major reason their offspring remain poor for life. If a poor family has just two children, the situation would a lot different and better than having four or six children. I have preached this for donkey years on Nairaland and created like three related topics to buttress the issue. The best advice I can give you is to postpone marriage till you can stand on your feet very well. Even if it means 50 years, no problem. You are a man. Just learn relevant and LUCRATIVE skills, grab opportunities when they present themselves and live a healthy life. Don't rush into marriage the moment small change enter hand o. Save, invest, diversify and compound your investments. When you plan bearing children, at most two, at least one. You are not a South Korean or Singaporean where the governments do everything possible to support new babies and their parents. P.S. Poju Oyemade, Oscar Onyema and Olumide Akpata married in their forties and fifties respectively. You don't have to be as rich as them, but stand on your feet and correct your dad's wrongs. Also, don't aim to be financially OK because of marriage, but for current self and retirement. |

Eastcoastboy: Find solace in Christ and decide to change the narrative because if you continue to nag... You might not do much other than what your father has done. Of course, that is actually normal. Parents who do well lay the foundation for their children. It is a cumulative process. Adults who are struggling now had a rough start when they were young or later in life. That is the reason it is very risky for children from humble backgrounds to misbehave, as nothing to fall back on. The situation would change if there is rapid economic growth as it will usher in lots of jobs and businesses flourish. Also, if the society is safe, people's investments can compound steadily. Imagine the economic destruction residents in Christian dominated areas in Northern Nigeria have had to experience within the past eight years? It has shattered whatever anyone built, resulting in people starting again from square one. The same applies to parts of the south east. Insecurity is way worse than poor economic growth because it destroys everything one has built. Now, imagine the fate of those communities and many more should a Muslim-Muslim presidency take office? |

It will take passing through hellfire, brimstone and luck to get to his desired position in life.
All of you telling him to hustle, una think say e easy like that. Look around you, 9 out of 10 folks doing well are usually from solid backgrounds.
Unfortunately now, APC is going to win the election and according to tensazangetsu20, a catastrophic economy is expected to follow and therefore many children will curse out their parents in the future like the Op is doing. Nigeria will not work out no matter how we try, we are so diverse and have a very deep hatred for one another... It's so unfortunate that the likes of Babagida took us from regional govt to this quack federalism we are practicing because the north lacks oil. Since then nothing has prospered in Nigeria.
Only if we can go back to Regional govt, and each region using what they have to develop one another.... Or else Nigeria would never work as one, imagine what transpire at today national elections. It's certain that we are heading for collapse.
So I'll rather be at that Benin republic and watch Nigeria from afar than be here witnessing all this hatred. She has always told us that Nigeria no be am. That the country can never get better. This was when I was in primary school o. So no be today. She has been preaching it as she is well travelled. Then, she would say "Nigerians don't know how to enjoy life", "even with money, you cannot enjoy life in Nigeria", And this is a woman who has money o. Yes, regional government is the best. Let Abuja be weakened, and various states/regions elect leaders that can cater to their needs based on their cultural norms and beliefs. Use their natural resources for themselves, and contribute something to Abuja. Similar to the UK, and a little like the US. That is the only way Nigeria (various constituents) can develop and prosper. The elections in 2015 and a little bit of 2011 taught me lessons that the country is not united, and last I checked, divisive countries never prosper in the long run. Even when they do, they are not safe as prosperous homogenous countries. I don't plan building/buying a house in Nigeria as we have properties already. I rather do Namibia than Benin Republic. I forsee Nigeria fighting another civil war. The case of residents in Ogun fleeing to Benin because of Fulani herdsmen and those in the North East to Cameroon or those in Western Cameroon fleeing to Uyo/Calabar are enough deterrent. I dread countries that have weak immigration policies towards Nigerians. The fewer Nigerias are there, the better. |

My mom has preached it for donkey years to my siblings and me that Francophone countries in West Africa are better off than Nigeria if one wants to live a simple and safe life. She said those places are safe, clean and life is easy without stress. That if no be marriage and raising children, she would have moved there. After all, she speaks fluent French and was her set's best graduating student in French. Then, I used to argue, of course, with puerlie points.
Last year, I watched some videos showcasing the elite parts of the city, and one feature I noticed was no open gutters. The elite places I have seen in Nigeria with closed gutters aka well pedestrian streets, are some parts of Abuja and gated estates in parts of Lagos, and one gated estate in Port-harcourt. The rest? OPEN GUTTERS! Recently, she advised I build/buy a house in Benin Republic (Cotonou, precisely). But my fear is how safe the country would be should Nigeria descend into a war. Benin Republic would be overflooded with refugees. Ukraine's situation would be a child's play. |

If Nigeria was just like eg Ebonyi, small, maybe 5 million people, it will be very easy to govern.
Don’t be comparing 5million people to 250 million people. Over 300 ethnic groups. Over 500 languages. Oboy, incomparable. That is the very reason for constituents in Nigeria to prosper and develop, Nigeria has to divide. Apart from the US, there is no heteregnous country that is very prosperous and safe. Brazil is a case study of that. Homogenous societies that are prosperous tend to be very safe than hetergenous societies that are also prosperous. |

However, Singaporeans can apply for the H1B1 visa to work in the US - 99% chances of getting approval. On the other hand, Japanese have to apply for H1B like everyone else. If only you knew the strength of some South American countries. In fact, as it is, I no dey only look from the angle of visa free access, but work permits.
