TravelRe: My Experience With Loneliness After Canada Migration by Gerrard59(m): 7:48pm On Feb 14, 2023
Confusedgirlie:
Before I left Canada for Nigeria in 2020, I had heard severally that it was very lonely there for Nigerian immigrants. I didn't quite understand what people meant exactly when they said this. However, over time I now have a very good understanding of this particular challenge with migration. Here are some of the things I've learnt on the way. But first, a little background about me.

I'm an introvert and I like my introversion. It gives me a lot of time to think and to be in my own space which I enjoy a lot. I read, write and love to watch documentaries. Those are the three most important things to me in life. When I lived in Nigeria, I lived a mostly secluded life that didn't have a lot of people in it. Regardless, it wasn't boring to me. I went out when I wanted to and took my time for my own activities.

Since being in Canada, my observations have been that it is a lot lonelier here. The reasons are very obvious: there are not a lot of people around me from a culture I'm familiar with (Nigeria), so it's definitely a lot more difficult to interact with others. .

Nevertheless, there are steps I'm planning to take to change a few things. I am now taking more opportunities to actually go out and buy things even if I don't have to, e.g groceries, clothes, etc. Secondly, I say hello first to strangers and neighbours and get to ask them a few questions. This I wouldn't have done on the first place. Finally, I downloaded a social media application called clubhouse and have been making new friends in my area using this. As a cautious person, I'm taking baby steps here and not jumping straight into friendships I may not like.

Overall, what do I think of being in Canada as an introvert? I enjoy it. My life and choices are a lot better and I find that I have the time to do much more than I was doing back in Nigeria, not hampered by lack of power or resources.

. It's just because you need to dig deep and find yourself in a new country where family is absent and culture is unfamiliar.
Abroad is lonely in that aspect. While in Nigeria, you would think you're an introvert, but na where your introvert stop, na there their own start. You are even in a place where there are people who look like you and the language is English. Now, think about those in places where there are very few black people and the language isn't English? shocked grin

Nevertheless, one cannot underrate the working system and safety. Ultimately, people should know what took them abroad so that they remain very focused.

pansophist:
Just make him look good outside, and feel good inside. Like a pot of soup, you have to get a lot of ingredients to make that single pot of soup. The ingredients to make a man look good can be summarised in three words, such as being fit, feminine, and friendly, or the three F's.

When I see lots of spinsters in need of a suitor, one thing many suffer from is being overweight. In a man's head, an overweight woman will never click as his ideal partner, the same way a poor man will never register in a woman's head as an ideal man, except in circumstances where they have been dating for a long, and she became overweight over time, for example.

Be feminine. One thing about femininity is that it's very fragile, and if a woman has been exposed to hardship (eg no parents and brothers to secure her), femininity may be lost for life. It is sad to see women that interpret having traits such as being disagreeable, combative, and argumentative as good traits. The kind of strong man you want will never tolerate such, and the weak men in your friend zone tolerating such treatment just gave you a wrong idea of men.

I personally think that it is unfair to a man for him to be with a woman that has enjoyed her prime being polygamous, sleeps with as many men as possible, collects money from her collections of friendzone brothers, and wants to settle for a good man that worked his way up and expect him to be monogamous to you alone. Argue all you want, it is unfair to him. If you want monogamy, you should be that when you were at your best look, that's the ultimate test. You cant fork your way through life and expect men not to exercise such options when he finally worked his way up to be attractive to most women.
I do agree with the bold. I think it's a major reason for the rise in Ndi feminism in Nigeria. When a lady had to fend for herself admist the poverty situation in Nigeria, she tends to develop masculine traits. That said, what about situations where she is "argumentative" because some men want to override her? Are intimidated by her educational qualifications and exposure?

Frustrated modafvckers who are angry because they've no GFs as they're poor are clinging to alfa meilism. Take it from me, these men's greatest achievement is wailing alfa meil, alfa meil, alfa meil along the streets in Nigerian cities while dangling their smelly preek.

CaveAdullam:
You don't like the tune ANALLORD used in describing his post, however, he's right, and same as you.

1. It's true that women's sexual side is hidden, as they will only reveal it to men who aren't judgemental of their slutty side and able to satiate their sexual fantasy. Women might claim independence outside, but they always surrender in the bedroom. For women, a man that's able to dominate them sexually can be likened to a man who is a great warrior. Both possess strength women always fall in love with.

2. Now, you must understand that men have a higher testosterone volume than women. And testosterone hormone is responsible for libido. (Though, as observed by scientists, testosterone level for men is seriously declining).

Also take note that, other hormones like progesterone, oxytocin also play alongside women's testosterone thereby making them less interested in sex than men. Unlike women, men run on only the testosterone sex hormone 24/7. Only as men grow old their testosterone volume declines.

3.
4.
Unlike women, men aren't picky, the reason they always date down plus can fvck any woman provided she got a pvssy. This difference is as a result of different testosterone volume. Men want to fvck and go while women want to fvck and stay. (However, monogamy still remains human primary mating strategy).

.

Men can ejaculate as many times in a day when it comes to reproducing and that's all. But once a woman gets pregnant she becomes vulnerable. This fact is also a reason women evolved to be less sexual than men.

7. Judging from the indecency of women via social media usage you will think women are more sexual than men, but no! What you must also look at: Who are these women customers? What's their number? Men is the correct answer.

8. Men experience more sexual fantasy than women. Men are more promiscuous than women. Men are more willing to get laid on a first date. Men dream about sex more than women. Men are the highest consumer of pornography.

The aforementioned boils down to testosterone hormone.

Thanks.
Hopefully, the ignorant men/boys who blame/curse/lampoon Nigerian girls for the rise in hookup would understand that it's Nigerian men who made it so, not the women.

I have been preaching it for donkey years that men perpetuate the prostitution/escort/hookup industry, and the higher demand for sexual services, the more women go into the industry as suppliers (which is a monopoly). So, when ignoramuses whose highest achievement is wailing alfa meil, alfa meil, alfa meil blame Nigerian women for doing hookup rather than their richer counterparts for the patronage, it means that these poor men (na only poor men dey chant alfa meil daily) don't understand elementary biology.

Basically, everything is fucking cheap in Nigeria relative to other countries, especially the western countries I have been to. The rent I used to pay in the US for a month will literally buy two acres of land in Lagos, and the amount I spend on food when I went to the US is enough to last me for the whole year in Nigeria if I spend extravagantly. This is what I noticed over time. Is it because wages and salary are not that great in Nigeria or there are other reasons to This?
Where in Lagos?!

I should have read that statement before my initial reply sef.

Niceguy06:
Cheaper than at least 80% of all the countries of the world combined. The only problem I have with Nigeria is insecurities, otherwise, Nigeria is good, at least to me and my family
When you generate your income from the Nigerian economy, it doesn't become cheap. If your income is dollar denominated, it's cheap.

This is elementary economics.

Mr Kingsley should advise Nigerian men not to reward ladies who dress in such ways. As long as Nigerian men reward these ladies, more ladies will dress in such manner. Women make themselves beautiful to be attractive to men who can afford them.

No, it doesn’t. It’s even worse for people like the guy who was laid off while out of the country. Those people are denied re-entry until they apply for and get approved for another visa.
The companies that are doing the layoffs are ruthless about reporting everything to USICS immediately so that visas they sponsored can be cancelled right on the 61st day if the employee hasn’t found work because they don’t want to be responsible for the employee staying behind, risk their ability to hire foreign workers in the future.
I am curious, from a pragmatic POV, how easy is it to marry an American citizen as a black African man, say a Nigerian? Obviously, his first options will be second-generation Nigerians/other black African females, Caribbean and African American women. Then, white women, naturalised Latinos, East Asian and maybe, just maybe Indian women. grin grin grin

How person go dey country ten years without planning to become a permanent resident, yet don born two children put for school on a temporary visa? What sort of optimism is that?
TravelRe: Thousands of Immigrants Losing US Visas After Massive Tech Layoffs by Gerrard59(m): 7:32am On Feb 11, 2023
In some cases, laid-off tech workers find themselves in an uneasy limbo, as in the case of Neuman Vong, who until December worked for Twitter on a temporary work visa available to Australian nationals. Mr. Vong was on vacation in Malaysia when he learned he was laid off.
To avoid complications, he has been staying in his home country of Australia. His neighbor in Los Angeles has been taking his car for occasional drives so the battery won’t die. Another friend is watering his plants. His apartment sits empty.
As a worker on a temporary visa, he says he has felt a constant pressure to hustle and prove his worth.
I’ve been fighting so hard to stay in the U.S. for the last decade,” says Mr. Vong, who has lived in California for most of that time: “California is my home; all my friends are there.”
These folks are too over-pampered, and quite ignorant of the benefits their citizenship offers them. Australians, Singaporeans and one other country's nationals benefit from employment-based visas such that they don't have to participate in the same pool as everyone else. Singaporeans have 2, 500 visas meant for them per year. Australia should be more than that.

I dare say he did fight hard enough. Ten years is way more than enough to be a permanent resident of the US as an Australian national. Anyway, he is an Australian. Re-settling would not be as drastic as an Indian or Nigerian.

BTW, having a dog to let go is even better than having to sell off one's property at below-market prices. I think the average human being is too optimistic - people getting married, birthing children, putting them in school, and making huge investments on a temporary visa. Did they think the job was forever? Companies no dey sack people? Do they know the number of workers oil firms sacked since 2015-2020? How can you build your life on a temporary visa?

EducationRe: See The Evil Happening In Uniport! by Gerrard59(m): 5:02am On Feb 10, 2023
There are some departments of that nature - Biochemistry, Chemistry and Geophysics in OAU, Chemistry in Uniuyo and Chemistry and Computer Science at my alma mater - they have a history of abysmal grades with lecturers who hate seeing students excel. For instance, in one of the departments in OAU, I mentioned, it has been a very long time first class grads convoked from it. Meanwhile, first-class grads are plentiful in Accounting and Chemical Engineering (has produced some of the overall BGS in the school). In mine, the dude who graduated with a first was lucky as he was not popular within the department until his final semester (had lots of Cs and even a D). Then, there were grumbling by lecturers stating "how come he is graduating with such when he is not an indigene?". However, the same people were at the helm of affairs when two indigenes had the chance to convoke as first class grads, but they made it seemingly impossible. Thankfully, the dude is now at NNPC. Luckily, my department was not (and is not) like that. We had quite a high number of first class grads compared to sister departments, and most weren't even indigenes.

My advice: if you cannot beat them or join them in what they do, let go and choose another department. In your search, assess how many first class grads convoked from the department, how many 2'1s it has produced, when was the last time she churned out a first class grad etc. With this, you can judge the mentality the lecturers have towards academically good students.

Why did you also underestimated these women in underdeveloped countries as idiots who can't think for themselves? You probably know little about non-western women.

Are Nigerian women docile and easily exploited? Or is Nigeria not an underdeveloped country again? If a wealthy man marry a poor woman, is he exploiting her?

Was men marrying low not how marriage have been from the beginning of time? Why is this one (going abroad to find a wife) surprising?

This is exactly what I discussed with you two days ago. The tendency for women to judge and interprete men's behavior with the most negative angle.

Nigerian women in the West also go back home to pick a husband. Are they exploiting these men? Ned Nwoko, a billionaire married broke Regina, is he exploiting her?

Is this not the dream of every woman to marry a man above her in social status? So how can this natural dynamics be interpreted as exploitation nitori olorun?

For the passport bros trends to stop, then the society have to be repaired to accommodate men interest, because at the end, everyone suffers.

Regarding this Passport Bros, if Igbo women, especially those outside the South East/South continue with their Ndi feminism, they will have a limited pool to marry from. One, they have a high taste that in Nigeria, outside of Igbo men, it is mostly Christian Yoruba men that can afford it. That is a limited pool as he has options in his ethnic group and similar ethnic groups in other states. No wonder tho, many Igbo men who reside outside the East go home to marry than those born and bred in Lagos and Abuja.

Europe was nothing before they embraced christ- they were barbaric pagan worshippers with backward civilization. They will become nothing again now they abandoning Christ.
Errrm, the Renaissance witnessed the society fight off the Church. The advent of secularism greatly benefitted the continent, introduced critical thinking and questioning authorities, and generated wealth, which was used to explore new regions. So, religion as it was practised in Europe (almost like Nigeria) actually made them poorer.

The most important motivations for human beings is genetic relationships...family, tribe, race and ethnicity. You can clearly see that in polygamous families in Nigeria.

ALL the examples you cited above with Trump in USA, Ardern in Zew Zealand, Truss in UK and all others, were motivated by RACE and ethnicity. Anyone can go research the details of those governments and figure it out.

Nigerians should give this matter some deep thought. The best countries in terms of HDI are small AND homogeneous OR have a generally accepted DOMINANT tribe/ethnicity, with democratic, free market capitalist systems. Think Norway, Sweden, Switzerland. In terms of big countries think Japan, China, USA. Humans simply PREFER to be governed by their own kind. There's NOTHING strange about that.

Where a country must remain diverse for whatever reasons, that makes it even more important to adopt a free market, capitalist system so there's less chance of government being involved in so many things and being accused of bias

Have a good day.
I'm glad I have seen someone who shares exactly my understanding of Nigeria's problems.

To add, the dominant group's culture should promote free enterprise, meritocracy, pragmatism, integrity, discipline and respect for rule of law. Add a bit of secularism and that society will prosper endlessly. The homogenous of such societies are the safest when compared to their prosperous counterparts which are heterogeneous. Examples are plentiful.

I'm not catching cruise...I have tried by cutting wasteful lifestyle...in fact I stopped womanising and drinking.

But the reality is I want my kids to go to the best schools and live in a decent environment.

In Abuja here, a decent 2 bedroom is 1.5-2 million. With my 500k per month, it will be very foolish to live in such apartments.

So, I have to do everything possible to double or triple my income to live in such environment.

The fact is that a 500k income in today’s Nigeria is very meagre.
You need to increase and, most importantly, diversify your income and its sources. The thing about increased earnings is that, as you earn, you are likely to spend more. However, that can be avoided by being disciplined. You don't have to be parsimonious, but you should be very frugal. What do you do?

- Download a budget app (Wallets or Monefy will do)
- Track every expense you make, even if it is buying pure water or recharge card
- At the end of the month, see how much you have spent, and look for items you should reduce, cut off and keep to state.
- The following month, you create a budget with a spending limit and stick to it. When your salary comes in, tell your bankers to send what you have calculated as the leftover to a different account.
- Diversify your income sources; invest in yourself by learning new skills to command a higher salary; begin investing after you have saved at least one-year of living expenses.

Budgeting is fun. Before now, I thought I could not budget, but I do it now. At the end of the month, I look for creative ways to cut costs by all means necessary. At the same time, I ensure I am learning new skills to diversify how much I earn. If you really want to send your children to the best schools (say, Loyola Jesuit or any top school in Abuja), you need to apply those measures, and I strongly suggest your new sources of income have to be dollar-denominated. One of the good things about budgeting is that, at first, it will be hard, but as you go on, you will get used to it as you spend less than you earn and live below your income, not above.

My point is this; it's social media and anything goes, pple say things to chase clout or find engagements. we should nt always be emotional about such frivolities. People engaging her just played into her motives
Then, why are you criticising them? huh

Once anything gets to the Internet, you cannot control how people would respond.

In every area of society, your past matters, but somehow, women wants to change the game where it suits them.

Want to get a loan? or be promoted in your job? , how about assuming a political office, or even applied for upper level degree, your past qualifications and financial behavior matters.

Alot of Nigerians are bitter and seriously need help.
Any sane person knows she is just catching cruise but trust Nigerians to rain their frustration on the poor lady.
She does not know her environment and acted poorly. If she had shown excitement about it being her first time riding okada and said una dey enjoy o. I no know say to climb okada sweet like this, most viewers would have loved it. Nigeria is a poor country and most citizens have used Okada at a point in their lives, mocking them even when it clearly shows that she is a pro at okada climbing comes across as stoopid.

I watched it and found it so irritating.

Plus fake nails and fake flat stomach. I encountered a girl who seemed to be within my specification of flat stomach, only for her to remove her clothes and behold there is one tight fitting gear they call girdle that she had on. The moment she removed it the whole stomach just spread out yaaaaaaa. And I was like I had been scammed.
Those class of ladies really disgust me. I wonder how men get along with them

FamilyRe: My Girlfriend Wants To Travel Abroad Without Marrying Me by Gerrard59(m): 4:29am On Feb 07, 2023
You do not know how to travel abroad, but you have a girlfriend who does and you supported her so much financially to enable it happen. While doing this, you did not ask her; Nne, how are processing this application to move abroad? Could you teach me considering I am sponsoring the process?

Did you? Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Then, you came to Nairaland typing mendaciously about how she has changed her mind even though you wanted to travel but you don't know how. Not only that, you had created the same topic in the Travel section, but since that had little traction, you came here to try your luck, all in a bid to enter FP.

I understand that the unemployment situation in Nigeria is extremely high, but don't you think there are better things to do with your time and precious bandwidth?
