ebamma: even if the swear by amadioha or ogun,it won't matter, cos even the priest that protect dis deities can be bribed and then the vow won't have any effect again. You are so, so wrong. That's what you think probably fed by erroneous Nigerian movies. The priests don't protect the deities nor vice versa. The word 'priest' is even a wrong usage since it is English concept. The oluwo of the deity is just the communicator who knows the 'phone number' to press to invoke the essence/energy of a said deity. It's obvious you didn't read the part where I resolved the issue of a swearer going back to appease the deity. |
Joey82: well, u can only swear by what you believe in, what u dont believe in cannot have any effect on you, any aboki that swears to amadioha will not be struck by thunder.Even African americans who are into Ifa and orisha worship will tell you that 'believe it or not, it gonna happen'. See my guy, you don't need to believe in its efficacy but just try and offend a Shango devotee or an Ayilala priestess. The truth is the devotee or the priestess may not even harm you because they will calculate if offence is worthy of such penalty because they know it's human life at stake. But if you mistaken their leniency/discretion to mean 'phoney' going further to challenge Irunmole/Orisha powers, maybe your psychology books told you its all in the mind/head, a placebo feeling or maybe too much comics or movies....well, Thor or Wolverine won't help you out. |
kayusbrown: They will hide under the Bible and Quran gods by insisting that they are ''born again'' or ''believing other gods except allah is haram'' so they can't swear using anything that contradicts their faith. We all know they don't believe the Bible and Quran. If you ask most of them to UnCloth, u'll find all sorts of incision and charms on them for their personal security (ever wonder why they don't take security issues seriously). A thourough background check on every one of them will reveal that most of them belong to evil cults and also offer sacrifices to some of these traditional deities for their protection! An easy way to make them take a valid oath is to place and conceal a formidable ''Olugbohun'', ''Afose'' or ''Epe'' (charms that make whatever one says comes to pass) at the place they will be taking the oath! You are indeed right. MODIFIED: They should make oath under the ACTIVATED essence of deities: Ogun, Shango, Shokpona and Ayilala backed with the extra juju plug-ins: Àfose (statement-to-order converter) and Olugbohun (commander)...Ekpe (curse generator) is a different thing. |
Orikinla: Believe it or not, even the Nigerians who claim to be Christians fear the Juju more than they fear God.See there's a different between Juju and deities though they are related in some respect, though they both share a common result - Supernaturality. |
Ayilala and Ogun are the most vicious of the Yoruba deities. Shango is too dramatic and absolute. Ayilala and Ogun strikes the violator and any who is directly and or indirectly involved in the violation. |
His Majesty: @topic, not a bad idea atall.... I even suggest the Aiyelala deity common among the Aworis.... Dat diety no dey take nonsense oo!I forgot to even add that powerful deity known as Ayilala to that list of deities that can be used for swearing. Ayilala is unique not only to the Aworis but also to the Ilajes, Ijebus and other Yoruba tribes. I could recall the event of a woman who stole her husband money and when accused fled to the village square shouting 'egba mi o eyin ara ilu, ki ayilala kpa mi ti ba ji owo ti oko mi n wa'. She was brought to the local govt. clinic where my aunt worked and nobody could helped her mysteriously swollen belly. |
afam4eva: You have a point. But even those that are clean won't want to contest for fear of Amadioha and Sango striking them mistakenly. They don't strike mistakenly, If I promise to fix the death trap known as Lagos-badan expressway that have consumed thousands of lifes under an oath where both Shango and Ogun are present stating that within my one year in office and fail to do that, then am done for. Would you as one of my voter/elector prefer that or I swear by the Bible and at the end steal billions and pay some judge and go scott free leaving the masses more impoverished. |
amosy007: do u have a soul? Please let don't trivialise this topic into insult. Ofcourse he has a soul just like you and I simply because we have minds that can think, memorize, deduce, etc |
afam4eva: I don't support this because we'll have to be conducting elections every week.Lol! At least it will filter out those who don't intend good life for it people. As it is now most Nigerians aren't living just merely existing. |
@OP This is an interesting topic and I contemplated and briefly discussed this with another individual some time ago. It seems as if some if not many Nigerians fear the traditional curses and gods much more than the imported ones thus will they be more faithful if they swore under a native god(s) with consequence? Would Nigeria be better off? I guess what you really mean is if their life literally depended on Nigeria’s success then would those necessary changes be made? Hmmn.... I think it will depend which dwells greater in the individual...fear or greed. I think it is an interesting experiment but one that will for various reasons will not be welcomed and that is also due to the perception of traditional beliefs i.e “uncivilized"...”idolatry”..."witchcraft" etc But are there not rival gods? Couldn’t the swearer back him/herself with another god to render themselves immune from consequences?...and what about those who actually have no beliefs in these native customs (they are thus not bound by fear or superstition)? ....or what about those with a contrary faith (whether imported or not)...is it permissible to submit a contrary believer under rituals that they do not observe? Despite the “if’s” and “but's” I do certainly understand where you (the OP) is coming from.
Both corruption and greed are just part of the several human nature which is mainly triggered and fuelled by X. Let us assume X to be 'the absence of certain conditioning force or check and balances'. If X is a triggerer of malevolent human nature, then there must be Y which is the opposite of the purpose of X because it suppresses the triggering effect of X. Y is not to inspire fear but to enforce a condition that counteract the triggering result of X where it will self-act whenever the condition in which it was programmed is breached. Why can't we implement Y into the equation of our reality here in Yorubaland if not Nigeria? And no the swearer can't be made immune by even a deity/god he personally propitiates in his home provided he has sworn an oath under another deity. Yoruba cosmogony is similar to computer GIGO (garbage in garbage out)... When anyone or leader is to swear under these deities, every possible turnaround would also be sworn into it as 'if I shall in anyway attempt to reverse or appeal to...in order to exempt myself from the wrath of....may Z happen. Z can be a curse of 1. Thunder striking(Shango) 2. Instantaneous drying of blood or mysterious accident involving metal (Ogun) 3. Having himself/Herself and offsprings afflicted with incurable terrible diseases until death. I am not a sadist but I, like millions of suffering Nigerians are victims of sadistic leaders in power. They just brought the light bill now which is exactly N3,728 for a supply that didn't make up to 48 hours in a month. They bring their light and everyone shouts 'Up Nepa' and as I begin to charge or iron the clothe, they just take it off until at times midnight. This is Psychological torture and yet people don't have a choice than to pay for fear of disconnection. This is rainy season, bad roads and pot holes everywhere gives walkers a lot of injuries in my area due to sliding from slippery untarred roads and streets while the top officials at the local government rides their jeep and SUV over the undulate wacky terrains that constitute most of Lagos suburbs. Emofine, what is your understanding of term 'witchcraft'? Do you think it's the same thing with what the Yorubas call 'Aje'? |
991: it is called "Arusi-Ogbunizu" unfortunately you cant find it online, unless you wish to visit it to do your researchOfcouse I know it can't be found online and I wouldn't intend to visit it if you can tell me more about it here for us to learn. |
musKeeto: Nigeria would be better if the humans/citizens living within begin to look beyond tribalism and religion. When the people develop an intense hatred for mediocrity, when the people decide to be more aware of their role in nation building..How is it possible for the citizens to look beyond tribalism and colonial-imposed religions when you like most fail to accept the brutal fact that the colonial experimentation called Nigeria was a result of the AMALGAMATION of incompatible tribes whose consent weren't sought prior to its formation in 1914.(note the 419 in the date). Now can I force you to marry a lady who's not only strange to you but also don't love? Your sincere answer would be NO...but then again you could if under duress. If I point a gun at you to commit bestiality with animals, does that mean you should go on when I am gone? My pont is senatorialism is Italian by origin, democracy is a western thing, these and others aren't ours but are intrinsical to governing a nation, the whites who originated this system can practice it because not only do they respect and obey rule of law but also because they don't want anarchy. And since we now find ourselves to be copying their system of government, I see no reason why we shouldn't integrate our traditional check and balances to it just as its done in certain Asian countries. For you to have expressed your thought that the foolish African gods stood by and watched how their lands were raped shows that you are just like the majority who haven't researched deep but chose to believe whatever they are told or heard from a 'pepper-soup joint talk and pro-Euro-Arab religious pastors and imams/alfas. Are you familiar with the saying that 'the victor rewrites history'. Our deities don't act like the ones you must have read in some books about Greek/Roman myths, ours are propitiated when a task is needed from them and in the case of 'slavery' some tribes never saw it coming while others who did through the IFA oracle neglected several heedings and sacrifices that if when done would avert it, though from my research, I garnered that the Odu that came out to address the 'slavery' phenomenon was such that it is bound to happen for certain reasons. Another mistake most Nigerians make, which you also did is to single in only the WHITES as the sole perpetrators of black slavery. Infact I can tell you that the Arabs did more damage to Africa than the whites. In primary school we were all made to believe the whites were the ones responsible for black slavery, pointing accusing fingers to them..A misleading lie...the Arabs devastated Africa for 4centuries, Uthman dan Fodio, a black Arab who alone controlled the largest slave economy in West Africa. At least we can today see the descendants/generations of black slaves that were carted away to New World as Africican-Americans but the same can be said of the blacks slaves that were marched to Arab emirates and the males were castrated and turned to eunuchs in order for them not to be aroused when commanded to fetch their harems and thus blacks couldn't perpetuate among themselves there. |
991: that would be the best, the diety of my village kills exactly 4days from the day you break the oath.Do you know the name of the deity? Would like to add it to my research. |
ZUBY77: I dont trust anything that demands for my soul and that includes orishaIs that what you think or what your religion have brainwashed you to believe, or perhaps your understanding of the 'soul' is a reflection of literature works such as The Faustus Legend. My brother, our deities don't require the soul as a price for their service. You are probably mis-interpreting the African deities to mean 'demon' which are usually connected with the 'soul' of which both are white man's concept. The Yorubas don't have a close translation for them. Nevertheless you can checkout my take on the soul here: www.nairaland.com/954879/human-clones-souls/5#11051728 |
Vieira: They are all from comics, how else should we view it now?Darkseid has beaten Superman just as Doomsday too had done...don't get me wrong...by beaten I don't mean killed...I mean within combat......Batman outsmarting Darksied in that cartoon doesn't imply he can beat him....what do you expect from cartoons and comics...the villain can't win ofcourse. |
ZUBY77: You definitely have an idea here. I guess they know that their Gods and Allahs dont act fast enough in punishing them. If a bill for such comes up, i will support it. Not that i beieve in deities but fear will hold them up.I don't see it as an idea rather a panacea to the multifaceted problems that afflicts Nigeria. You said 'fast enough' as if they've ever acted. Why does the God of C&I acts through a medium - supposedly revealed book? Why do most Nigerians associate the happenings in their realities to how the holy B&Q can interpretes it. Suppose you were to go into a business partnership with someone on a deal that bears the prospect of yielding huge, unimaginable profits; for instance a situation very similar to what happened in the movie 'The Social Network' - and you were given two options of swearing with the Bible/Quran or Ogun/Shango, would you have gone for the Ogun/Shango option because of the fear it MAY strike you if you don't adhere to the conditions of whatever oath that you must have sworn? No qualms if you don't believe in deities since infact the the word 'deity' isn't Ghanian nor is it a Calabar language. But do you believe in Irunmole/Orisha? |
If our sinators, legislooters, politrickcians, governors, ministers, commissioners etc were made to swear whatever promises and manifestoes they meant before assuming office under the presence of our deities (Amadioha, Ayilala, Shango, Ogun, Shopana) wouldn't their be 25hours of electricity supply and good roads and other social amenities. The argument of the possibility that the swearer can go back and offer something to the priests in order to revert the effect of the oath made can be easily resolved by televising the whole process on NTA or AIT where the politician/president/governor will be making such an oath with the provisio that in the event of him/her attempting to reverse the sworn oath...may 'so so and so' happen. That condition of the oath and the 'so, so and so' provisio would be an an agreed upon 'curse'. I know many would disagree with this benevolent measure because of their cling to foreign religions brought onto them by Euro-Arab colonialists/jihadists. These religions have rendered our society retrogressive and decadent since 1914. |
If most of blacks in Africa still haven't realized that these foreign religions which isn't ours in the first place that we still keep arguing about is the number 1 root problem of our miseries - mental slavery. Euro America are rapidly dropping religion and embracing atheism, science and technology...any should go thru my contribution to topics similar to this just to see my POV concerning this matter.

Vieira: Huh? Odin? Do you know who Odin is? Neither Doomsday or Darksied can wield Mjonlier. Even Superman could not do it until given permission.Who doesn't know Odin the Allfather, see you are only right if looking at it from the comic world, let's try and visualize them into our reality and you'd think Darkseid or Doomsday would require permission to wield it. At worst they might not be able to completely wield it but at least would haul it back in a counter attack when gripped in mid-air and am sure the 2Ds can also resist it the hammer with ease. I could adjust my views by saying that since Mjonlier was created from the heart/energy of a dying star while Darkseid's age/Tech in his realm of exitence is beyond Asgard so logically Darkseid would probably even control Mjonlier with his super telekinesis. |
guru01: See you mouth, see your username. What's with it with my username? You should be ashamed of yourself and not me for degrading the knowledge of your ancestors as 'fake magic' because the SF character 'Zangief' appeals to you MORE than the names of any real past-existing warriors in your village. I'm sure you must have heard of one from the lips of our elders/oldfolks from tales and History of our various towns. |
zangiff: Fake magicWhat do you mean by fake magic? You ought to agree that if there exist fake magic e.g. Stage tricks and illusions therefore there must exist real magic I am not sure but let me assume that you're just like the majority of the so believed schooled/educated Nigerians who are convenient with various foreign concepts and practices like zodiac signs, speaking-in-tongues, horoscope, fasting, tarot reading, rapturous prophecy, armageddon, blood-cryng mary, etc but always condemn, negate, demonize anything that relates to African supernaturality/divination. I'm a natural born skeptic who's still yet to be a complete atheist and until then I will undoubtedly subscribe to certain things that pertains to our ancestral believe system rather than others because it's what identify me as unique among the human race. |
Doomsday will wield Mlonjir with ease and Darksyde will wield 5 of it. I bet not even Odin can survive Darksyde's Omega Blast, an energy that almost killed the man of steel. |
Wait, hold on, are the three of you trivialising this news report from Tribune? Guys this isn't Legend of the Seeker nor is it Harry Potter? This is for real. The only thing dangerous about this idea is that a lot quacks/419ers might venture into it hence spoiling this wonderful idea I have always thought of. |
I just got a BBM newsflash that the kidnappers have demanded $180, 000 for his release. /p26AnE-k9 |
soloqy: If you are getting any of these cards from our local banks, the address on it will surely be your Nigerian address. UBA will even do a phisical address verification in the case of their UBA AFRICARD . secondly, even if in some magical and strange way, the Bank registers your card with a foreign address, there is also the AVS(Address Verification System) that Paypal puts in place that would flag any transactions you make from Nigeria. Leave Paypal alone. They dont want Nigeria (at least for now). The more you keep trying to circumvent their system, the more you give them confirmation that we are crooked and hence, further delay any plans or moves to accomodate Nigeria.Well said and am convinced but there are certain things that can only be bough from eBay as fairly used because nowhere else can one get it new because it's no more manufactured e.g. HP TM2 tablet PC. And am sure you know most eBay sellers only accept PayPal. What advise would you profer? |
Guys and gals, there's no such thing as the ILLUMINATI you've all been made to believe by Christendom. Kim K is a kind of diva I wish was my younger sister and would seriously reconsider her actions, consider Montana Fishburne, daughter of the character Morpheus in Matrix saying something like if Kim K can make money and fame from p0RN why shouldn't she....well then again, it's an American thing...where anyone can live his/her life as they like provided you're not doing crime or illegal, American liberty = zero morality. |
Richardid: Why all this shout and pretence. r we not aware that the nation is in crisis, these r just signs of long time neglect and rot in the polity. This is just the beginning, the worst is yet to come if the youth of this country does not take to the streets now in protest against bad government. The prphesies of the signs of the last days r more visible in nigeria.*SORRY OFF TOPIC* CULLED FROM MY POST IN ANOTHER THREAD I support what is Israel is doing wholeheartedly, most of my friends have all fled to USA, UK, Turkey, Egypt, Israel etc in the guise to study or work when all they are doing is hustling to make money. Every youth and certain adult are ever ready to leave their respective Yorubaland/Igboland at the slightest mistake of opening a free visa conditions to USA, UK, Canada, Israel etc...and I ask the ones who dream to migrate this good-turned-bad land that if 90% of male and female between 19 and 29 fled off into the various countries of thr globe who would remain to tackle the mess and retrogression our corrupt and insensitive leaders keep converting our lands into...their varied response made me realise our youths never had any sense of nationalism in the first place. The Idea of a proud developed nation with advanced technological prowess and scientific achievements in par with others economic giants of th world is strange to them....the only moment my fellow youths display such spirit is when the AMALGAMATION called Nigeria is playing against another country in a football match. Everyone here in Nigeria is a potential escapist, runaways and stowaways. It's very wrong. Nigeria can still work out without dis-amalgamating ONLY when each region swears by the ancient deities of our respective lands. We need to scrap these foreign religions it hasn't helped us a bit, anyone or politicians can swear every manifestoes and promises by the 2 holy books and would still embezzle, launder and misappropriate public funds knowing the God of the Jews (Yaweh) would strike immediately nor would the two most popular prophets descend from wherever they are to do justice but let them try it with Amadioha, Shopona, Ogun and Shango and let us see whether we won't enjoy good roads and 25 hours steady power supply. Israel as little as it is today is trying to manage itself as a nation the best way it deems fit regardless of any western backers or not. The Knesset alone has the power to decide what's best for the Jewish state of Israel. |

soloqy: You cant verify paypal in Nigeria unless you want to start trying to circumvent their system and terms. Dont waste your time.Okay what do you suggest? I said I have once done this before and it worked before the card from ICB got expired. Acquiring a card here in Nigeria where the form bears a genuine UK or USA address as the billing/postal address and whilst using it to successfully register a paypal account where the funding is in Nigeria either in dollar or naira. What I'm not sure of is would this trick work again with any of these present Visa and Mastercard from GTBank, Zenith and First Bank? |
Okay let's analyse this problem since someone made a comment ealier that we should criticise constructively... What courses runway lights to go off? Power failure is the obvious course. Should the Aviation Minister resign? Yes because I think she is incompetent. If I am the Aviation Minister in a country with erratic power supply, the first thing I'm gonna do is go round all the Airports in the country and embark on a major upgrade. One of my major upgrade plan is to make sure that the generators that power all the Airports are reliable ( 27/7), and constantly maintained. There will be multiple sources of power generators in each Airports, so if one is being repaired, the other will be in use. On plane maintenance and records: I will ensure that every plane over 5 years that flies within and outside Nigerian Airspace is subjected to a 3-month MOT. A team of experts (paid Boeing And Airbus Engineers from Europe and America), check the air-worthiness of the Plane every 3-month and any plane with the slightest fault is grounded and issued a warning. If the same Airline fails this test again, I will automatically revoke their licence and tell them to reapply after 2 years. I'm not an aviation expert, I'm just a sensible patriotic Nigerian with due diligence.
True patriotism is only exhibited from a citizen of a nation only when the citizenry have collectively felt the positive impact of their government. There are horrible roads everywhere also known as 'death traps' were the responsibility is pushed between the FG and State governments. There is no steady electric supply, infact it's as if there's no power at all and yet most pay FULLY for the monthly high tariff electricity bill which isn't fully supplied to us in fear of permanent disconnection, more like we are paying surcharge for the usage and possession of personal electric generator. Take a 360• view everywhere in this AMALGAMATION called Nigeria and tell me something good that has benefited the common Nigerian...is it "Reps throw out bill seeking to prevent members of the National Assembly from defecting to another political party", or "Reps probe report indicts NNPC, others; NNPC Diverted N3 trillion from Federation Account, Reps reveal; Reps to investigate N14billion misappropriation in Justice ministry". Yours at best is considered as bind patriotism. |
Enddystar: Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I think I'm rather late responding to this post....Anyway, your online payment solution, I mean any website you can think of is FIRST BANK'S VISA GOLD credit Card, I'm really surprised that only one person mentioned it so far, VISA GOLD is your express solution to website hosting, online shopping and more, the good thing about it is that it goes with online banking access so you are in charge of your account, with First Bank's online banking platform, you can generate as well as print out your account statement, meaning that any website that requires account verification like hostgator.com can be handled by yourself without going anywhere close to the bank. It is far cheaper and easier to get just with $100 or Naira equivalent, u're good to go.Can you give me 100% assurance that the First Bank Visa Gold card would work for registering a PayPal account? |
To all theists....until you can tangibly prove that the God of the Christian religion who you all so believed is the sole creator of the universe exists you have no proof whatsoever just a claim. Richard Dawkins is against organised religions and theistic doctrines nevertheless he suspected that for an intelligent design to exist there ought to be a intelligent designer but not the genocidal, infanticidal, megalomaniacal, Sadistic...God (Yaweh) of the Christian religion and ofcourse Allah of the muslims. Then again Dawkins views was of the reason that perhaps we may encounter God from the realm of scientific knowledge. As for me, I am only athesitic towards two of the three Abrahamic faiths. I remain a Neo-paganic deist. There's a particular aspect of the Yoruba ancestral belief system called 'ishegun' (craft of ogun) which is an embodiment of what some might erroneously called occultic knowledge/powers, satanic/demonic by Christian/Muslim religionists or arcane/esoteric knowledge by parapsychologists and metaphysicist. I call it African science. Ofcourse the white man: Newton who conceptualised a force that is responsible for pulling all matters towards the earth had no reason to think beyond the 5 senses and that is the limit of oyinbo man's science i.e. Physical reality but Africa man science specifically the Yoruba psychic/scientist popularly known as BABALAWO knows both the physical science and beyond for instance he knows how to make an object defy gravity. He's equipped with the ancient knowledge to know what and what to combine with certain incantations to achieve egbe (moving thru space and time aka teleportation), the babalawo knows what to do to achieve afeeri (invisibility; a technological feat modern science is eating billions of dollars to perfect in the field US millitary active camouflage where they attempt to bend and manipulate light waves, didn't they taught us waves are unbendable in science class?) The logic is is fair enough that whatever can be proved by evidential demonstration can be accepted to be true. Jeovah God hitherto still remain a ruse. Same goes for Allah and Buddah. Ogun and Shango are damn true because I have experienced their effect if any Nigerian theists or pure atheists disagrees then its simple let all or any of our politicians and lawmakers desist from swearing by the holy books of the imposed foreign religions and make their oaths under the activated presence of Ogun, Amadioha or Shango and let all see what would happen whenever our money is embezzled or missappropriated. Ofcourse you all know that won't happen because Christianity and Islam brainwashed us that out ancestral deities are demons and agents of satan. But ask yourself if the word 'satan', 'demonic', etc are Calabar, Igbo, Yoruba? If the answer is NO then why would you agree to another white man's interpretation of our stuff. They should try and translate Ibadan to English too na!. So is also the soul just like one poster said up there somewhere that it's a theological proposition to shape the concept of a self entity that is divine property of another theological concept called 'God'. I have been researching about the human soul since I was like 13 and I can authoritatively say regardless of any religious meaning is just thd human 'mind'. A zombie is a souless body which doesn't think for itself nor capable of reasoning unless you command it to obey an instruction just like a computer. Now as human we can think, we can reason, we can deduce, we can exhibit all spectrum of emotions so therefore something must be behind all these sensibilities and we may conveniently ascribe it to the machinations of a concept called 'mind', however if one is to imagine it from an ethereal perspective as something tangible then it's called 'soul' from a theological viewpoint, so depending on what perspective you look at it, its still the same thing. Mind = Soul. In conclusion if a cloned human can think and reason on his/her own therefore he/she isn't souless. |
