Benin might have very bad infrastructure due to bad Governance over the last eight years, but interestingly Benin is actually the Fourth richest city in Nigeria in terms of economic size. It has a larger economy than every other city in Nigeria except Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja. It is larger than Kano, Kaduna, Ibadan and all the other seemingly large cities.

Benin has the highest number of banks per city outside Lagos.
Benin Airport has become the fourth busiest Airport in the country after Lagos,Abuja and Port Harcourt.
A lot of interesting other statistics reveal Benin as a very unique economy as it doesn't have the Federal Support the other three large cities possess.
For instance, Lagos is what it is because it's been a capital before. Port Harcourt is what it is because of oil. Abuja of course is an FG project.

What actually drives the Benin economy is the inflow of remittances from Benins in Diaspora. The amount is huge. They probably scoop up maybe 30% of all the $10 billion remittances flowing to Nigeria yearly. That is $3 billion dollars for just one city. Much more than what all states recieve in Federal Allocation.

So the logic is, don't underestimate Benin! It is a better place to do Business than most other Nigerian cities less poor infrastructure and insecurity.

Its not advisable for anyone to pay for goods via cheques on ebay. PAYPAL is the most secured way to pay.

I recently bought some items on ebay and paid using paypal. After payment, the seller ignored all my emails and never sent the goods, after 2 weeks I reported to ebay, My money was refunded. Since then, I only Buy goods from Business Registered individuals on Ebay not individuals because I no want story.

The trust rating doesnt work in most cases, A seller can rate himself high using multiple ID's.

Even me nko way i dey find house. I saw an ad on Gumtree and got in touch, the yeye boy was typing oyinbo english for email. we exchanged 2 emails with pictures of the apartment and the 3rd one he put his number for me to ring! Only to ring and the idiot told me to send money to secure the apartment without viewing the house; that alot of people have interest in the apartment, besides hes not in Uk at the moment, that he went for holidays in another country. That if i make payments he will send the key and address of the house to me I was so mad! I changed my foreign accent immediately to Pidgin because i guessed he was a naija guy and I was right .
