soetanoreoluwa: That's Nigerians for us... We forgot good things easily but hold on to bad experience...
Nobody is talking about 36 WCQ unbeaten runs second team after Spain... It makes me happy and glad... so many positives from the eagles so far and for the first time, we have started early preparations for the world cup by using our last dead rubber wcq game and a grade A international friendly with Argentina in russia where the world cup itself will hold. It can't get better than that. Finally, the super eagles of old would have bundled today's match by the regular big players not tuning up e.g. Okocha, some players would have even selected to play argentina instead of algeria. But look at the eagles today playing as if they are yet to qualify. The patriotism players like balogun, ekong, iwobi and the rest are showing is something to be proud of and mikel turning up for a dead rubber match despite not playing is something that was missing even in the era of oliseh and co. is the team perfect? No but they deserve all the credits, if person pass exam, he should be commended and not be blamed again for his bad hand writing when he has good results to show |

Humility017: my fear is rohr sticking wit the errors of today...same mistakes he made against RSA....he rarely make changes...
etebo is not AM...why play him there...you see today the boy was lost...his impact was rarely felt...why not swap wing with iwobi...
and for nwakeme guy....I fear he does not start him same...against Argentina....
rohr is a good man manager I agree....but this area of tactics leaves me scared... are you aware that the games against algeria and argentina are experimental games? if he does not experiment now, when will he do it? at the world cup? look here rohr has his starting 11 already, he is only trying out new experiment and which games will he do that? there are nothing at stake with these games and so expect more trial and error. You guys are not even appreciating the fact that just in november alone we are playing two warm up games to prepare the eagles. you guys should chill pls |

so please....we should let everyone pour out their minds.....though i don't support names calling.... after all...every honest person will admit that alot still need to be done...in regarding the super eagles.... the criticisms today are not only destructive but catastrophic, what was even at stake in today's match for God's sake? let's be less emotional pls |

soetanoreoluwa: I tire o... Just dey imagine if Argentina flog our ass Next Week... Imagine what people will call the coach and the player . just that I don't think we will lose the Argentina match...
Do you remember we once beaten Argentina by 4 goals to 1... In 2011 at national stadium abuja... Allegedly fixed match....? honestly expect the worst from nigerians if we loose to argentina, they will forget it's a friendly match and bash hell out of rohr and the players like they have done today despite its a dead rubber game. Ezenwa may be crucified upside down should we loose. |

realpoacher: Am sure you will do better than Rohr. When some of you criticise, you do it so blindly that it looks like you have a personal score to settle with the coach. Give this man some credit. This is the first time in a long while that we qualified without calculator and here with a game to spare, Algeria needed a dubious referee assisted penalty to draw at their own backyard against our second team. What were you expecting?, that we go there and whitewash them?... Na we buy boot for dem?
Some of you guys here with negative words, criticism, and "never see good in Rohr" are a suspect. I believe that besides our team's success, you guys might have an ulterior motives.
I mean how else do one explain the name calling and demeaning remarks on this match and on our players.?.. In the viewing center where I just watched this game, applause and praises were all the players received only to come online to read this rubbish!
I am beginning to think that many of you are kids who knows nothing about our history in football or better still you guys are all foreign based Nigerians who are just beginning to show interest in our football.
That should be the only reason why you guys throw new players at the coaching crew upandan and making weird statements calling it tactics.
From time immemorial, apart from westerhof. Rohr is the only foreigner doing something great about the Super Eagles, heck it took almighty westerhof 4 years to do what Rohr is doing for us under a year. And the best you lots can do is to criticise, insult and demean his ability, capability and achievements so far.
I don't blame you, you all probably won't be saying this had we been stucked at the bottom of this group, to which the worst you would have done is to sack him.
Armchair coach is what I call you all, and not until you guys take up a coaching job, it remains so.
Honestly it is nauseating reading many negative comments here. Just imagine you wishing us to lose, you have been saying it since last month. And since we didn't lose today, instead of running home with your tail in between your legs, you are making a lame attempt at being a contempt.
If you can't support this team positively, abeg maintain your Lane.
SMH! Honestly we have too many immature folks on nairaland and is worrying, Rohr that took the risk of coaching the eagles where other coaches were scared. na wa o |

tbaba1234: Too many complainers, we just completed the easiest WC group for a very long time. There is work to be done and i believe we are on the right track. Nigerians are never satisfied, thank God we have qualified o, if not rohr would have been beheaded by now, we have started again with our nonsense complaining, I remembered how we complained badly against philip troussier and brought in Bora yet we disgraced ourselves in france 98. Rohr deserve all the praises for daring to coach the Eagles where other top coaches avoided us because they felt we couldn't qualify from this difficult group |

vaxx: i posted two argument there, instead of you to refute my claim. you are bringing in your strawmen argument as usual ...
This is is the argument again.....
Lagos was pre occupied by the awories in 15 century , they were predominantly fishermen and hunter..
There is different between lagos state and lagos Portuguese.....
If you must know, the word lagos (eko)was crested by the awories not the binin..... This is the pronunciation in yoruba vocab....(Yoruba: Èkó) Bini are not just offshoot of yoruba, they are yoruba by themselves that is another story for another day.....
Before the prince ado( war lord ) was invited to wage war against the Dahomey empire who are about to take the place from them....the word eko ile has been used.......
The same thing happen when eko wanted to be taken by the fullani, the Oyo warriors were invited to stop them in Oshogbo.....
If you are ignorance of a knowledge..... Ask you shall be given..... You are getting more nairaland confused with this your mr lekki and Mr badagry coinage... it actually sounds like mickey mouse |

So you want to also contest Ikorodu with Ijebus now (Yorubas)
Tell me the meaning of Yenegoa egbon e don do make we leave matter for matthias, I think the message is clear, inasmuch as we want to coe-exist, everybody should contnue to answer im papa name so that our children do not loose sight of their true identity like the average african american who is still annoyed with his ancestors who sold his grandparents all in the name of slave trade |

PointB: So you agree that the Constitution can change the fate of Lagos? Do you also agree that SW cannot save Lagos from the Constitution if other Nigerians think Lagos need to change status for sake of Nigeria? And you think anyone can change the constitution to the disadvantage of the yorubas? This is where the political games will be played, the senators from lagos asked for a special status for lagos, the senators from the se team up with their counterparts from the north to shout it down, no hard feelings, then next the se senators brought a bill for a special dev fund for the se and wanted everyone including the sw senators to support the bill and we all know how the bill was thrown away. Any change in the constitution that will not favour the sw will not see the light of the day trust me, shout from today till tomorrow, politics will always decide whatever change. You think the north is stupid for making sure they are always on top of any political games in Nigeria, they know that's what will decide commerce or trade. Do you see northerners struggling with the yorubas for land, commerce or other assets in lagos? They know where the actual battle is and they go there |
Politics › Re: Lagos Is Part Of Yorubaland - Femi Okunnu by Goke7: 2:13pm On Nov 10, 2017 |
PointB: No please.
Both Yoruba and non-Yoruba buy land from in Lagos. But everyone has a price. If you are ready to pay over the top for a piece of real estate and are ready to pay quickly, it usually sway the seller.
Secondly, it make little or no sense to limit your potential market (as land seller) to a specific group of people. You may end up selling cheap or dying of hunger. So if land owners say they won't sell to non-yorubas, we'll see how that goes when the wad is padded! life is way beyond trading bruv, if not by now Dangote would have bought over Arsenal club or you think he can't buy it for any price they want to offer it? Things don't work that way all the time, if not by now the Lagos state would have taken over the National stadium, National theater and other FG properties or you think Lagos state does not have the money or individuals? Why is the FG refusing to even allow the state govt do some roads? Everything in life does not revolve around commerce alone and by the way currently, it's now difficult to get c of o right now in Lagos, you think the govt does not want to make money again? |
Politics › Re: Lagos Is Part Of Yorubaland - Femi Okunnu by Goke7: 2:00pm On Nov 10, 2017 |
PointB: How much of their 'country' can they get back? Their country has moved on and they have been left behind. No one is saying Yorubas should not play politics in Lagos; politics all Yoruba know how to do, so by all mean go ahead. But realize there is limit to any politics Yoruba can play. Like those who voted Trump to take back their country are failing, same fate await anyone who plays politics with the intention of returning Lagos back to stone age - failure of abysmal proportion. Such individual(s) or group are best served chasing shadows, they have better chance catching shadows than returning Lagos to a predominant Yoruba enclave.
Now you folks keep asking Igbos to forget Biafra and move on. Please take a page from your book. Lagos was a Yoruba City; Lagos is now a Nigerian city. It belongs to all, and it belongs to no one. Lagos is now No-man's Land. Forget Lagos and move on. Resistance is not only futile, but retrogressive. Lagos state is a state like any other state in Nigeria that does not have any special status attached to it and and will remain so until the constitution say otherwise. it will also continue to operate like every other indigenous state in Nigeria, reason the State assembly adopted the yoruba language officially to be taught in all schools. The state assembly will continue to make laws that will rubber stamp that status as far as the indigenes who are represented in the state assembly are okay with it. We can whine and shout online, it will not change anything. Tinubu and his cronies were politically naive initially but they have all realized that as Lagos economy expands, they also have a duty to uphold the cultural heritage. Watch out as the politicians starts to do their manoveurs cos they have now realized that their so called friends are not too many. Don't think the fate that befall the Hausas who allow the fulani minority to dominate them will happen in Lagos or any other south west state. lessons have been learnt from the past and the yorubas are way too smart for that. Don't use your biafra ish loss to try and contend for Lagos, you will loose again cos you folks are not very good political strategists, not everything is buying land or trading, life is way beyond that bruv |

PointB: I don't know the size of Oba's palace; but if valuable mineral is discovered on the piece of estate, it's only a matter of time before he sells. So what is suffering about someone making such a smart decision to sell? If land owners didn't sell the lands in Lagos, will we be here having conversation about the value of Lagos? Will you have the population to make Lagos the buzzing city it is now? Or you somehow think Lagos attain this status by refusing to welcome people - sell lands? so only non-yorubas buy land in Lagos? Yorubas don't own land at all abi? |
