mikeapollo:
It os good that the bridge has been built by the govt. Very commendable.
My problem is: every bridge / bus stop in Lagos becomes a potential hotspot for criminal activities, especially at wee hours of the night!
And to make it worse, as you descend the new constructed road at berger going towards Isheri, there is a bump toward the turning towards isheri. Not a good one for security and safety especially at night. I wonder what the govt was thinking. Yes they want to slow down vehicles before they turn to Isheri but that spot could be a trap for criminals at night unless there will be security right there. Even the security agencies could take advantage to have an illegal check point there. That bump was never a good idea in my opinion.

The refusal of Goodluck Jonathan to accept Same sex marriage was the main reason Obama didn't support his return even though they knew they won't have it with Buhari either but they just needed to deal with him for saying absolute NO. My observation.
what a childish observation, so it was Americans that voted in PMB abi?

You don't know what you are talking about.
How do you expect people to show respect to elders like obasanjo, buhari, IBB, and co that have truncated your destiny and that of millions.
Do you think that is how the developed countries became develop? By showing respect to elders.?
Have you ever heard of civil disobedience?

I'm sorry but Igbo people need to talk to theirselves and sort this out. Even my fellow Africans at my school here know about Igbo people and drugs.
its a big problem, the tribe is now so easily differentiated from other Nigerians because of this menace especially with the distinct names; chukwudi, chukwu something sha, everywhere even in kenya and other parts of africa, they are finding it so easy the identify the igbos separately from other Nigerians. If it was for positive causes, no problem but these drug issues and other vices are now being strongly attached to our brothers in SE and it's so worrying. Yes other tribes have got their issues but this drug thing is becoming too bad for our image not only for the SE but for all of us as Nigerians

even the oba palace got burnt, the one that surprised me though is the electricity angle, I think when a fire begins, first thing to do is to go to the power switch box and change over from electric supply that is if the fire has not gotten to the area of the switch box yet cos waiting for both fire service and for nepa abi na phcn to take their light is asking for too much in an under-developed country like Nigeria.
Politics › Re: In This Critical Moment, Why Is There No Igbo Politician In Opposition? by Goke7: 11:32pm On May 05, 2017
Funnicator:
YES! The Igbo need to wield more political power; but that can only be done through a visionary, tactic, intelligent, sagacious/rich, diplomatic Igbo politician.

Ekweremadu, highest ranking Igbo politician, is not diplomatic, he does not go for Hausa festivities to intimate with the locals there or even in Yoruba land; hence his name will not sell outside SE. Rochas name can easily sell outside SE but is DEAD in SE.

Without the support of your people to guide them into economic prosperity, can you be called a leader?
Food for thought bruv. I have truly enjoyed this conversation. Its been so refreshing. Thanks for making it a delight. Cheers

You probably need to understand how logic works. If you claim that the SE wants a certain thing then you have to establish that at least a clear majority is interested in that objective. You've not established that. You only mentioned some nonentity talking about appointments. Who told you every single person from the SE is interested in the same thing.

You're not making any sense whatsoever and I will have to stop this childish back and forth before I start bleeding IQ points.
You are still living in denial bruv, try harder instead of the unnecessary agitation

GEJ may be corrupt just like all the politicians but he is humble even to his boss Yar Adua. Buhari is the true definition of HYPOCRISY and posterity won't be fair with him. A man and his party that was busy clamoring for resignation of Yar Adua, has found it impossible to do same.

PITY.
osinbajo is also humble to his boss, so what's special about GEJ's humility. Pls find another excuse for GEJ

The truth is that, given Biafra and given Nigerian presidency, an average Igbo man will recognize that a Nigerian Igbo president's tenure will be marred by opposing Boko Haram savages, herdsmen too difficult to checkmate, cases of strong associates caught up in bribery scandal and too close to relinquish to jail, all these and many more, plus the age-long practise of serving other regions beyond your own region(OBJ-helped SE more, Yaradua-Helped NDelta more, GEJ-helped North more), also contributes to what would make an average Igbo man choose a Biafra where passion for ethnic group will force all corners not to fight the Government in the center, and remember where there is collective co-operation, there is progress.
The truth which, even you would agree is that; with the way Nigeria is structured, even the most righteous Politician will either find it TOO difficult to clinch the presidency, or even when he does, a cabal will take over and ruin it, or opposing voices from other regions will destroy the administration; like IPOB and before; NDA are doing to Buhari now. Nigeria is ungovernable with its current structure, so even an Igbo president will fail at the center and join the long queu of bandwagons that have destroyed these country. But structure Nigeria in a better MOULD, and watch it EASIER to govern; i'm talking about federalism. For an Igbo man like myself, an Igbo presidency will not solve Igbo problems. Best is Biafra or at worst, at worst, the true federalism as we practised it in the first republic. 1963-1966.
We never appreciated true federalism when we had it, the SW has been clamouring for true federalism for a very long time. The SE only started clamouring for it when it lost out in the political equation after 2015 elections. If GEJ had won re-election, nobody from the SE will be clamouring for true federalism. It's good now that many more wants it but its not going to come easy as our reps in both senate and reps have to put side their looting spree and slug it out with their northern counterparts for it to be a reality and not all these emotional cries here and there. Now that is a tall order to get true federalism but for now how will the SE slug it out politically to benefit their region. Lagos state and some SW states are already taking advantage of being in the center for their benefit. In the short term before restructuring or biafra actualization, how will the SE use their Political capital for the advantage of their region? The Fulani is a minority tribe in this nation of just 7 million and they have been deceiving others by tying themselves to the Hausa in the name of Hausa-Fulani to get Political power to amass influence and we have the Igbos who are well over 30 million sitting down and always trying to play catch-up. Haba, this is not good enough! The Igbos need to wield more political power!

The SW easily submit to their leaders, and there are always issues of backstabbing amongst them, Akintola backstabbed Awolowo, working with NPC and sending him(Awolowo) to jail, in SW, Kayode; Former Ekiti Governor and Fashola, even Fayose wouldn't want to be "lorded" by Tinubu.

Over the river Niger, states prefer to have their wn individual leader, there is no consensus leader whose popularity cuts across ALL 5 SE states. The only men who achieved it on very high level were Azikiwe, Ibiam, Ojukwu and today; Kanu. The dearth of quality and focused Igbo representative since this 4th republic that started in 1999 has been an issue of debate on many social media platforms.
Just the moment you though Orji Kalu's PPA would be an emancipation, dude looted his state and couldn't spread his popularity across all SE. Obi had the mandate when Ojukwu handed over APGA to him before his demise. Obi blew the chance of turning APGA into a formidable opposition because of his lack of patience, perseverance, good leadership quality, diplomacy and wisdom. Kalu has stepped into the vacuum and occuppied the entire space, but is he focused in Nigeria project? No! He's a freedom fighter, if he achieves his ambition of REFERENDUM, he automatically becomes greater than Ojukwu and Azikiwe because that is one foot inside Biafra.

But is he on a suicide mission?... His failure will mean Igbos have lost in the Nigeria project and Biafran dream. Too scary to imagine.
hmmm, another very interesting drift from you, yes being humans there will always be backstabbing here and there but hope you are aware that whenever there is a strong urgent yoruba interest around the corner, folks in the SW easily forget about political party differences and rally round that interest, should osinabjo emerge president today, you think Fayose and ffk will continue to throw their jabs? Did you not see how ffk and fayose started blasting the PMB gang for sidelining tinubu the other time. Did you see fayose opposing the ministerial nomination of fayemi despite being rivals? This is what am talking about. We want to see the entire SE rallying round any igbo strong political interest like what we are seeing in the case of Nnamdi Kanu. The kind of strong support the igbos gave kanu should what we should begin to see whenever the issue of Igbo presidency comes up. The igbos saying they are not interested in an igbo presidency are living in denial.

So this is what engaging intellectually has come to this days. No Igbo politician will play any opposition crap ( with an eye towards 2019) because no one back home (their constituents) gives a fck about your Nigerian presidency any longer. Don't you understand that?

In a space of 8 years Katsina state has produced 2 presidents. Is Katsina like Dubai today? How about Ogun State and Bayelsa? I can't understand why you guys keep flogging this long dead horse. We have bigger fish to fry.

Intellectual indeed!
keep living in denial, the igbos want the Presidency so bad and this is a known fact. You don't give a fck about the Presidency yet you complained about lack of enough political appointments for the SE and marginalization. What a contradiction!

Someone really needs to lead the ace. I would say Ekweremadu is in favourite position to lead the ace but Fayose and Wike have firmer control over the PDP structure than he does, hence I fear a "Deputizing". He seems more pre-occupied with his court forgery case and senate duties to as well, organize PDP and become a pseudo-leader just as Asiwaju is to APC. Well, let's watch on.
I thought he has been discharged and acquitted from the forgery case nah. Ekweremadu looks too soft to lead the ace bruv. you need a bit rugged politician to lead.

One issue though for the SE is its peculiar culture in contrast to the SW where folks easily submit to leaders or elders in the Land. This is a challenge to the SE

Most Nigerians are double-mouthed, it's because they benefited hugely from Yar adua' death which made their kinsman became President, that's why they pretend to love Yar Adua.

When I saw GEJ on Facebook remembering Yar Adua and calling him boss, I laughed and said to myself, what manner of hypocrisy!

Tunde Bakare has done its part. The question is what have you done? Does Tunde Bakare have 2 heads?

If Tunde Bakare decides to lead a protest, people like you would say he doing it because the next person in line is a Yoruba person.

So can you tell us what you did about the Yar'Adua situation and what you are doing about the Buhari situation?
chai, see finishing op, the joke is now on you, when are you leading the protest as prescribed by this wonderful post and advice

The unnecessary and phantom agitations for Biafra? Look at a Yoruba man claiming to know what is best for an Igbo man. What do you know about Igbos or Igbo land? Can you speak one correct sentence in Igbo? What historical connection does your tribe have with Igbos? All you know is that Lugard made you and Igbos 'one Nigeria'

Exactly, that is my point. Buhari's presidency is very shaky and Fayose and co are already strategizing to be at the center, by hand-picking a party chairman loyal to them. What are Igbo politicians doing? #waiting for 2023 the "god given year for igbo presidency". Dumb, naive set.
The unnecessary and phantom agitations for biafra is also a distraction and product of the political naivety we are talking about. Even the Jewish angle the igbos are now displaying is something else which makes me wonder what the political elites in Igbo land truly stand for. Everything is becoming comical from the SE these days when by now we should seeing Igbo political heavyweights moving round the entire Nigeria political sphere positioning themselves strategically for 2019 like we see Atiku doing.

Honestly what I see from Peter Obi these days looks impressive despite the drama, but am not too sure if it has any bearing for 2019 and to which political camp he belongs. We all want to see more pragmatic conversations and engagements from the SE political elites. no be everything be fight and gra gra which does not benefit anyone in the long run.

Mophasa:
A source at the state house, abuja has indicated that president Buhari would be attending the Jumaat prayer today at the state house mosque.

According to the source who pleaded anonnimity, preparations are already in top gear for the public appearance of the president today, this is intended to douse the tension in the polity about the uncertainty of the president's state of health.

Notable public figures will be attending the Jumaat service at the state house today, in order to have an audience with the president. Only the president's personal photographer would be allowed to take a picture of the president under the directive of his security aides.

State house journalists have been warned not to take any pictures or video coverage of the brief appearance of the president in public today.
is this necessary if there is nothing to hide? truly akande's public statement rattled aso rock as they have been uneasy since the beginning of this week. I hope they truly remember akande's words; this is 2017 and not 1993.

when they are secretly and openly decamping to APC, what do you expect?

The Igbos surely have a very big chance to clinch the presidency in 2019 especially with the way things are going now but they are too politically naive to discern and begin to take their chances.
