nobody should be troubled at all by this article now as pdp is only trying to get relevance now just because of the present state of the economy and so its an opportunity to get some political mileage. The emergence of the new controversial pdp chairman has further battered their image and so any thing now to throw tantrums at PMB and his govt is a welcome idea by them.
pdp including barcanista should be ready for the long haul as more revelation about the pdp reign of 16 years of terror will continued to be revealed even down to when 2019 will begin to gather momentum. The hard stance of PMB not to devalue the naira and the sudden appreciation has caught pdp and its fans by surprise and by the grace of God, they will continue to be shamed and disgraced.
A party who failed for 16 years can never be a good assessor or examiner of another party or Govt that has been in power for barely a year. |

The moment Ben bruce came into the political soccer field with his twitter rants especially with his attacks whether constructively or not, I knew it was only a matter of time before guys will find a loophole to try and even scores with him.
I support his 'buy made in naija' campaign but some of his previous twitter rants especially when the price of fuel was fixed at 86.5 naira per litre were a 'no no' for me. Ben bruce should play his political game more wisely cos he will meet more of this on his political journey |

Akaujaa: "Approved by national assembly not house of assembly", I guess you mean. Yes, I am very much aware but don't forget that they have been working the supplementary budget of the previous administration. Besides, that's not the basis of my assertion. I have taken time to study the body language of the above mentioned ministers and discovered that even with the budget at their disposal, they have little or nothing to contribute in this administration. While they wait for budgets to get to work, I believe they also need to manage the administrative aspect of their office to save this government an embarrassment. You are wrong, the major duties of ministers is to implement Govt programmes so how is that possible without budget approval. The supplementary budget is for emergency spending and not for major capital expenditure. You are in a hurry judging the ministers who just resumed duties few months ago. Tell saraki and his men to stop playing politics with the budget with his cct trial. Thanks for the correction too. |

I think just like Boko haram, we are beginning to play politics with the present economic crisis at hand. I think the ruling party and those who actually know the true state of things understand the game PDP, their fans and apologists like Aribisala is playing. This is why they will continue to be ignored in the scheme of things. PDP is still nursing the pains of defeat. I had expected Femi to write an article about the new PDP chairman as he has been canvassing for a strong opposition and accusing PMB and APC of trying to kill the opposition. I even expect Femi to accuse PMB of imposing sheriff on PDP From Femi's articles, one can see bitterness which may never be cured, as per the economy another major point people fail to realize is that non-Government expenditure is another reason for the current situation, when Govt starts spending after the approval of the 2016 budget, things will generally improve, those wishing and prophesying doom and asking us to beg NOI are our Nigeria's greatest enemies at this time |

codedguy1: I believe 2 major things are wrong with us in this country:
1, Our attitude towards leadership or rather our attitude when we get to leadership positions - it seems all sense of decorum and empathy is thrown out of the window and the innate selfish nature just takes over. I just can't explain.
2, The structure of this country, including electoral and constitution as it is presently constituted will always make us never reach our true potentials as a country.
No be swear! there is nothing wrong with our structure but rather we take advantage of our constitution, laws for our personal gains. for example, the card reader and pvcs were introduced to make our elections better but instead we claim that they are not recognized by our constitution just to kill the innovation to continue electoral fraud. We are the problem not our laws. |

This is entirely my opinion because these ministers either make noise in the wrong way or are obviously quite and redundant. are you aware that the budget is yet to be approved by the house of assembly? which money do you want these ministers to operate with? I think there is a lot of misinformation about CAN, surprisingly it was even the northern Christians who supported Pastor Ayo to emerge as CAN president due to the role he played in the crisis in Jos some years back when he was PFN President. The Christians in the north were even the one who insisted that Pastor Ayo should be CAN President despite the opposition from Onaiyekan and the Catholic Church.
Its a pity what CAN has become today, a once respected and true National body has now be made to look so partisan and politicized along tribal lines. |

Also, such restrictions have failed over the years to industrialise the country. It hss instead encouraged smuggling. And when manufactured here, they csn not meet markrt demand snd may have s monopoly. Dangote was fleecing Nigerians for uears. Your excuse does not hold water cos no country develop that way. If those importers are wise, they would have used the massive profits over the years to develop and invest into building industries for production here in Nigeria. Do you think dangote was stupid in building and investing into refinery? He knew Christmas will not be forever, also another importer of petroleum products are about to start building another refinery in Lagos. Those import palm oil should go and use their profits over time to build industries for palm oil produce in the east. Do you think Nigeria can make up the shortfall in a month? How long does it take for a palm tree to fruit? We can make up the short fall if we are serious, laziness is our problem due to our politicians especially state governors who spoil us by throwing money for us on the street. Marpol: The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) recently issue a directive stopping some imported goods and services from the list of items valid for forex in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Markets. This policy implies is that, those who import these items can no longer buy foreign currency from the official window to pay the overseas suppliers. Rather, they will have to source forex from the parallel market or Bureau De Change to pay for their imports.
The items include the following:
Rice Cement Margarine Palm kernel/Palm oil products/vegetables oils Meat and processed meat products Vegetables and processed vegetable products Poultry chicken, eggs, turkey Private airplanes/jets Indian incense Tinned fish in sauce(Geisha)/sardines Cold rolled steel sheets Galvanized steel sheets Roofing sheets Wheelbarrows Head pans Metal boxes and containers Enamelware Steel drums Steel pipes Wire rods(deformed and not deformed) Iron rods and reinforcing bard Wire mesh Steel nails Security and razor wine Wood particle boards and panels Wood Fibre Boards and Panels Plywood boards and panels Wooden doors Toothpicks Glass and Glassware Kitchen utensils Tableware Tiles-vitrified and ceramic Textiles Woven fabrics Clothes Plastic and rubber products, polypropylene granules , cellophane wrappers Soap and cosmetics Tomatoes/tomato pastes Eurobond/foreign currency bond/ share purchases There are companies in Nigeria that produce many of these items, truly some fellows do not wish our country well, what a pity |

Saifullah01: MAN should realise that PMB is trying to optimise the utility of our current reserves subject to a constraint of falling oil prices and unlimited 'raw materials' to be put on that list. So my advice is this:
As unauthodox as it may seem this is a time for Nigeria to boost its local industries. This is like a protectionist regime imposed by the government for local manufacturing to take advantage of by governments refusial to devalue.
I was in kaduna yesterday and met with one of sokoto state government officials, he told me he was coming back from inoson motors HQ to discuss the possibility of supplying 800 sedans to the state government (and am very sure other states are looking towards that direction too). My fear is does inoson motors have the capacity to service this sudden interest in their motors. So rather than MAN complain on government FX policies they should encourage their members to seize the opportunity. I expect inoson motors to drag CBN top officials to their plant - just like dangote did to his refinery - and secure commitment from the CBN to prioritise them if they choose to request FX for expansion of operations.
I read an article once in the Harvard business review about international businesses in China, the author was complaining about how it takes more than 6 months to obtain a 1 year business permit in China! (You think that was just because of bureaucracy? ). That was their government delibrately protecting local companies from foreign competitors. Little wonder Chinese companies are number 1 in all sector of their economy.
And those that feel devaluation provides some sort of silver bullet, if we devalue then what?
Devaluation is meant to reduce the pressure on governments scarce dollar reserves by freeing it up for "other purposes". But by banning non essential items (call controlled devaluation) government has effectively freed up FX for essential purpose or "other purposes" like importation of raw materials and spare parts for local manufacturing. So let's not get it twisted, devaluation of the naira won't bring down the price the perfume (Montale - black auod) I coughed out 39k naira to buy online to 19k naira. The same Innoson is from the region that hates the present FG with passion, they will never see the positive side to the present situation we are in. By the time Government bow to the sentimental pressure of flooding the country with FX and all state govt and others go back to start patronising Toyota and co. They will be back here to say that FG is killing local industries. This is the time for Nigerians to look inward and become innovative, how long shall we continue to rely on foreign goods? Why the hypocrisy. The tight FX rules is beginning to favour many local industries, can't we see, don't we want nnewi and aba to become heavyweight industrial hub to even out all round national development. Nigerians think, let's stop blackmailing ourselves. The Western nations and Asia are becoming jittery. Let's not play into their hands. |

The supreme court judgments in favour of pdp brought some new lease of life into the party, when one was thinking the pdp was gradually regrouping, suddenly they brought up a new sheriff. Just as ffk said in his article, pdp is bewitched and has finally sold its birthright for pottage.
