Politics › Re: DPR Seals NNPC, Forte Oil, 12 Other Petrol Stations-the Punch by Goke7: 8:43am On Aug 22, 2015
bushdoc9919:
Fuel susbsidy removal will end all this stealing.

Want to know why?

Because at N87 our fuel sellers are not making any profit.

A businessman goes into business to make profit. Landing fees for fuel are more than N100 per liter. We import a lot of the fuel used in this country. Subsidy pays the difference. Meaning....little or no profit. Meanwhile, our fuel marketers have staff to pay, equipment to maintain and buy , and the wife's annual trip to Dubai to fund. wink. Hence the shenanigans......because a business man must make profit. (Unless you want to run an economy influenced by Marxist-Leninist principles).

And anyway, fuel is being sold at over N100 in many stations across the country. N87 exists only in Lag and in Abuja.(My folks bought fuel several weeks ago in Niger State at N170 per liter. DPR....won't go there).

In my opinion, fuel subsidy has to go. We are pouring money down a bottomless pit.Plus....we do not have enough money to subsidsze fuel....what with the fall in international oil prices .(The UAE and Saudi are contemplating removing subsides on fuel this year....and they have far more money saved than we do). GEJ made many mistakes....but proposing to remove fuel subsidy was not one of them(especially when SLS and NOI were in agreement....rare event, even now).PMB should remove fuel subsidy and do what GEJ tried to do....spend part of the money on mass transit projects.

Sorry Nigerians.....but either crude oil goes back up to 100 dollars per barrel or higher......or we go broke spending money on subsidies. Fellow Nigerians....tighten your seatbelts. Our time machine has taken us back to the 1980's.
Removing subsidy totally is not as straightforward as you guys think, the independent marketers will take us for a ride and fix prices as they like, not even PMB can control them, there is no subsidy on diesel but look at the way the price of diesel fluctuates, this is the reality.

The best way to go is to get the refineries working optimally and allow only NNPC import fuel to supplement if necessary which is what PMB wants to achieve but to leave us at the mercy of private marketers to import fuel and sell to us is suicidal.

Hypocrisy and hatred sometimes make you lose your mind and sense of reasoning. The jumbo pay for legislators were set at a time when the biggest PDP criminal of all time in the person of David Mark ably assisted by Ekweremadu held the whole nation by the jugular as senate president and deputy SP.
Interestingly this same man never stops defending this wanton rape of suffering Nigerians any time he's called upon. Precedence is a condition that's not easily erased from a system but gradually with the exemplary leadership of this president things will begin to take shape.
A cursory look at the bible might reveal PDP was one of the plagues God unleashed on Egypt when Pharaoh refused to let his people go.
Thank God for reasonable Nigerians!

You see now that you are the funny one joining others to sing praises and adoration of the man for using his "body lamguage " to make governors shun private jets but you talk of separation of powers on the CORRUPT salaries received by our SINators and representaTHIEVES of even his own party of saints & angels.

How do you define HYPOCRISY huh
You lack understanding mhen, who fixed the corrupt salaries received by your reps or senators, is it PMB? Do you really understand the system of Government we operate in this country, are you aware that saraki wants the allowances of the senators to be reduced but they opposed him? You would have said that PMB should use his body language and catch those robbers that operate during Traffic jam in Lagos cos he is fighting corruption abi?

I tire for una, anyway all this your blackmail is not working please change strategy.

Honestly, PMB is redefining governance in Nigeria from what we used to know.

He has the political will which has been absent since 1999. Just imagine how many other states have cancelled sponsoring delegates for Hajj just because PMB cancelled FG's sponsorship! I am sure that decision was not as simple as it seems to arrive at.
How I just hope people realize this, we have a problem in Nigeria, we don't appreciate genuine leaders when they are in office, we only sing their praises when a bad successor emerges. For example some people now admit that a sick Yar adua was even better than a GEJ.

I just hope this will not be our lot this time around.

you guys are so funny o, don't you know what seperation of powers is? Buhari only has power over the Federal arm of Govt, including all the Federal agencies, the judiciary and house of assembly are independent, the states also are independent, his powers are limited to other arms of Govt. If Baba starts you guys will say he is interfering. This also why the probe of tinubu and amaechi u guys shout too is impossible by PMB since its their states' money, Do you understand now

We just have to believe and support him.

The fact you have just stated is the more reason why not rushing to appoint cabinet ministers makes a lot of sense.

Had he rushed things, a lot of bad eggs would have found their way somehow into the cabinet.

As things are, many have given up hope while those that will make it must have taken a good lesson from how he's putting his feet down.

We just have to support the man.
well said, that is what those who criticize PMB fail to realize, the longer he delays the appointment of ministers, the more the bad eggs will give up, brilliant strategy from PMB, even the senate are tiring out on the ministers issue and won't fail to quickly confirm them when they have the list.

Leave those boastful goats, they should be praying that PDP doesn't pay them back in their coins by blowing up gas pipes.

I don't hope so. but May be that's a way of getting political power which now makes the arena very competitive.
those who can really blow up the pipelines have made so much money that can even last as long as they live so they may not really be interested. A lot of the pdp guys who have billions in their accounts will choose to enjoy their loot in peace while the broke ones will decamp to APC, don't you think so?

@the bolded, Oh no, the dams thing is now stale news as we use more of gas now than hydro, if you have said that the supply of gas to the plants were limited before now which GEJ tried to work on, you would have made more sense.

Oh come on! You honestly believe that what was holding up power all this time was the relaxed attitude of people working in the power sector? You think those people are happy to be wasting money on generators like everybody else? It is in nobody's interest that Nigeria has no light. Buhari is just someone who came to power as all the money and hard work of the previous administration started to yield result. Buhari should take no credit for the hard work of others.
Trust me, this reason of yours is just too weak, the cabals don't really care about money being wasted on generators as they profit heavily from this, do you think the private hands who owns the the Gencos and discos want their licences revoked for non performance?

Things that would make me take Buhari as a man of integrity are ;
1. If he apologise to the Family of those corps members that lost their due to his desperation to rule the country.
2. If he clear the controversy surrounding his WASSC certificate.
3. Publically declare his Asset as Promised.
4. Keep all his campaign promises.
For now, that word integrity is being abused when use in connection with Buhari.
You can never be impressed by somebody you didn't vote for based on your biased mind, even if he tars Nigerian roads with Gold but let me help with some of your questions.

1. He should apologise because he was actually the one that led those who did the killing abi? even those families have moved on and are enjoying change but you are being left behind, sorry.

2. His WAEC certficate has been found after March 28 you hear, you can ask the recently sacked service chiefs to confirm.

3. Oh you want to him to declare his assets publicly, fine he can do that but if we ask all our Governors and Senators to follow suite, some of you will shout witch-hunt [many don't know this is actually the reason, its no big deal to PMB]

4. You never believed in him so what does he owe you? Promises, pls think again but he is already doing that and that's why he wants to recover all stolen monies to fulfill all of them but you guys are shouting witch-hunt.

The truth about the power issue is that the pdp Govt from the time of Obj initiated all the Power projects which continue thru Yar adua and GEJ, but the same pdp due to their indiscipline and corruption could not make power sector function effectively, this is what everybody knows.

Buhari is just a man who allows Govt agencies function the way they should be [e.g. EFCC, ICPC, NNPC and so on] this has been the weakeness of the pdp past Governments.

PMB deserves all the credit, only biased minds think otherwise.

My guy, Nigeria is blessed and loaded with tremendous human resources who still have integrity as their watchword, trust me they are there both home and abroad, our political class have been the one messing us up. Without sounding ungrateful for the so-called milestone in Power Generation in the country, fact remains we are at the peak of raining season and water level is relatively height for the hydro-power stations to operate more efficiently hence this increase.

However instead of counting our chicken before the egg hatches, APC should share encouraging concerted efforts so far made in addressing our power crisis. It is technically childish to think that integrity of PMB is the main reason for this improvement.

Let's stop praise singing to allow the President focus on the real issue. Besides if only presidential integrity is now the source of change in Nigeria then, I am afraid this nation will slump after his tenure.

The president should build institutions and not personality. I have been waiting to hear any meaningful changes made so far with re-energising or restructuring the National Orientation Agency (NOA). This is the most powerful agency we need now to re-orient Nigerians on the way forward perhaps different from business as usual.

God bless PMB
God bless Nigeria
Oga electricity now in Nigeria is more powered by gas more than hydro. The truth is the discos are scared cos their licences can be revoked. Have you wondered why they take the issue of electric bills more seriously these days. That water level reason no longer hold water rather there have been a steady supply of gas cos no one messes with PMB for now

i can see u a young lad... Do you know the history of Oliseh? Na dem bring mafianism enter Nigeria camp. mikel in his prime cannot even near oilseh's table in their time. It was not a matter of money... It was matter of prestige (Well until they were disbanded). NFA then could not even handle them... Remember Nigeria vs Denmark, They walked over the game just to prove a point to NFA... And still got invited to subsequent games because the players were so good the country could not do without them. After they were disbanded, the Naija performed woefully in the next world cup (02)... Could not qualify for the next and managed to make it to SA. Who is Mikel that we cannot do without... Mikel is just an egotistic lone wolf, he no get clique self, not to talk of these men that formed a soccer syndicate at their time. <Finidi, Oliseh, Uche okechukwu, Taribo et al. Let me remind that their last act of qualifying Nigeria to the World cup of 2002 was pure class. They qualified conceding only one goal and unbeaten in all 18 games leading to their disbandment (which included a Nation cup appearance where they came 3rd, knocked out in the Semis by an in formed Senegal team on penalties. Senegal went on to be the African show at that world cup) because of local football politics. Who is mikel obi?
This is why the class of 94 eagles when they become coaches of super eagles can't enforce discipline cos they were never disciplined as players be it eguavoen, keshi, siasia or oliseh. The talent those guys have then would have taken them to the quarterfinals of the 94 and 98 world cups but they are full of egos that can't be easily controlled by any coach or NFF.

Oliseh is just wasting his time I tell you, he is going to have big issues with players, watch and see
