Can you imagine? A poor young man with no hope for the future is will to go to war because the government is willing to probe corrupt leaders and he feels it may affect his kinsmen.

See how twisted and backwards the Nigerian mind can be?

In one breath they claim some particular people are not corrupt, in other they threatened fire and brimstone if this incorruptible individuals are probe. Is that sensible?
most Nigerians don't understand what Nation building is all about, I don't blame them cos someone has said that 'Stealing is not corruption'

It so amazing that a section of the country who never saw or expecting anything good in Buhari before the elections will turn around to start expecting a lot of bounties from him, is that how cheap we are in this country?

This only confirms what some of us have been saying all along that the south east historically can never play opposition politics, they have always aligned themselves with the center and have suddenly found themselves in a strange land, hence the agitation for biafra in some quarters.

Al this talk about we don't need appointment to survive is like blowing hot air and its getting stale, is there no other better strategy?

So far, the Yebooes have been the most antagonistic to this new government right from the first day.
The way they are going about this issue will eventually be counter-productive to the Yiboooe nation. The Ijaws that should be more worried have accepted to lay low but not the Yiboess that saw themselves as the biggest losers from the GEJ's defeat.

It is actions of selective probes like this is why many african leaders refuse to leave office even after decades in power

In nigeria the case is largely different but the incumbent just imposes his stooge there and nothing new really happens

I think buhari should stick to his earlier plan of starting a new system in Nigeria where corruption in public office will be severely dealt with

The extent he can go for now is to recover stolen funds because as it is even he himself has his hands soiled with the sponsors of his campaign

Corruption can only stop when everyday people can get into public office to fix the wrongs they are sick of seeing: from fixing that everlasting pothole close to their houses and giving a detailed account on how it was fixed

If buhari thinks he can go far with this cosmetic treatment to the problem of corruption in Nigeria he would waste the next three years and won't have achieved a thing at the end
So corruption should continue abi? which new system should we start when 150billion dollars have been missing in just 10 years? na so una like corruption reach?

Why does it trouble you so much that corrupt agencies may be held accountable for their actions and failures to remit funds to nigeria?

People like you are traitors. You should be trying to make Nigeria better. Instead you're letting petty partisan politics get in the way of your common sense and desire to see Nigeria improve. What is wrong with you??
This is an audit to check remittances into the Govt account...not a probe of state governments. If you have evidence of Oshiomhole misusing state funds, please approach the EFCC and stop joining the ranks of those desperate to see corruption thrive in Nigeria.

It's really sad that past governments never took Nigerian sovereignty seriously
I have been attending a search and rescue meeting where this matter always comes up, I was shocked when someone in the meeting accused NAMA of embezzling the money meant for the airspace take over, this airspace matter is so serious as it has great security implications, its possible a missile can be dropped into our country without nobody knowing and we are all in trouble since we do not control that airspace, also the money airlines should be paying to us for using our airspace goes to Ghana so you can see the huge revenue we have been loosing to Ghana over the years, don't be surprised if Ghana resist this move cos its like taking food out of their mouth.

Another problem is that when International treaties or conventions are signed abroad, our Nigerian delegation instead of sitting down in international conferences to understand these conventions, they go out shopping all over the period of the conference while countries like Ghana and other african countries sit down to understand these international laws and take advantage when our guys are shopping. This is what has caused this airspace palaver.
Politics › Re: The Petition To Buhari & EFCC Against Amaechi, That May Cost Him Appointments by Goke7: 8:04am On Aug 06, 2015
I advise everyone here to leave Politics for Politicians, what is playing out here is that the pdp in Rivers state knows they are finished if Amaechi is given a Federal appointment, the same Federal might wike used on Amaechi when wike was minister, Amaechi will definitely will not spare wike too. Also with Amaechi as Minister or whatever Federal appointment, the APC will continue to consolidate his hold on the entire country and Pdp as a a whole will continue to diminish which is what they want.

Politics is at play here or do we think the planned clean up of Ogoni land by PMB is just a ruse? My advise to Wike is to go and settle with Amaechi. PMB is a President and at the same time a Politician and every good Politician continues to expand his territory.

Anybody who is expecting the APC to act like a saint which the Pdp didn't do either is only wasting his time.

Ghana isn't controlling (the whole) Nigerian Airspace.
Its the area over the ocean that is being talked about.

Eitherway, it's unacceptable.
What you are saying is being clarified here:

According to international maritime law, a country's territory extends 12 nautical miles from its shore to the sea (and airspace).

The new national carrier should be, at least, 80% owned by private individuals and corporations; with the FG having 20% equity.

I believe Buhari made the right call in ordering for Nigeria's control over its own airspace. According to international maritime law, a country's territory extends 12 nautical miles from its shore to the sea (and airspace).
u be correct guy, Nigeria has been loosing so much money, imagine since 1945 on this airspace issue, do you know that money has been allocated for this airspace takeover over the years to NAMA but of course you know nah, the money was embezzled, I think EFCC get work small for that aviation ministry, thumbs up to PMB, am truly enjoying this Go slow o, Let's go there!

Its unfortunate that Nigerians who want to true democracy will be the one tongue lashing someone who was duly elected according to the Nigeria's democratic process. We would rather support Tinubu who is ready to usurp all the powers in the presidency, senate and house of rep through the back door (a disturbing show of shame).

My opinion, support democracy all the way, Saraki was duly elected he should be allowed to function. If he messes up, he should be thrown out according to Nigeria's democratic process.

Tinubu should be put in his place, he should realize that this is not AC or Lagos where he does the hand-picking. obviously, his definition of democracy goes by contrary to the peoples definition.

Ekwerenmadu should be probed and if found guilty, he should be thrown out but if innocent we should rally to support him too.

We have to have a very clear mind in making sure only the true democracy we voted for prevailed in this country. We will not allow anybody whatsoever to hijack it because of individual or party interest. NIGERIA IS BIGGER THAN THEM ALL.
My guy forget story, the election that brought in saraki was a sham and the whole world knows it, deceptive guys are just using tinubu as an excuse to justify the sham, you think buhari is stupid by distancing himself from saraki? The house of rep issue is still manageable hence the timely intervention by buhari but the senate palaver is a cankerworm that is nauseating.

Politics › Re: Buhari's Planned Probe Of Jonathan's Administration: A Booby Trap For APC by Goke7: 5:44pm On Jul 24, 2015
Buhari is only interested in recovering stolen money and not for people going to jail unless we Nigerians wants public officers to continue to go away with their loot. Anybody who does not want probe should just handover 150 billion dollars (stolen over the last ten years) to buhari and there will no more probe.

Looks like stealing has finally been legalised in Nigeria with the way people are wailing. What a pity

His wife okay.

His young children no wahala.

Common! Adult children should be busy doing something.

They should not be living off Nigeria's presidency; he is not an official of Nigeria, at least not yet.

At least Obasanjo introduced his son Gbenga as a "businessman from Nigeria" during his own time.

What domestic thing are you talking about when his wife is not around? Is he a homosexual or what? Or will he sleep with his own child?

They won't cook or do his laundry would they?

A president ceases to be "domestically" inclined the moment he takes the oath of office.

He becomes very serious with national issues.

What are you talking about? The family of the president are the property of the country as long as they are in power and the Government is responsible for them and that's why all over the world they reside together officially, buhari has done nothing wrong by taking his son along or do you want to separate him from his family because he's president? Na wa for una o. If his wife was on the delegation along with his son, I will be the first to shout, but only his son was his immediate family member on that trip. I think we should rather discuss better issues than this. Yes there are domestic affairs that only his family member can attend to especially on his personal effects, he belongs to a family first before the nation and there is nothing anybody can do about that

So why do you think they are frantically trying to diversify the economy?

Who do you think would suffer most if they bring down the economy? The oil producing states with arguably the least inhabitants receive the most income by the sharing formula. wouldn't they be the one to suffer the worst of it all?

That is the mistake a lot of folks keep making, they think its an Abuja issue whereas the Niger Delta States will be the ones to bear the brunt, some guys are also not realizing that non-oil sector of Nigeria has been growing over the last few years and yielding lots of revenue for the Federal Govt too. This is 2015 and not 2008, times have changed o. Those silly threats may not work much this time and even the militants know it however they just need the attention but am sure the Govt will find a way around it but mind u those father christmas gifts which the previous administrations were known for has expired.

Statements such as these are the reason our growth is impeded as a nation. How can we allow a cartel control our collective wealth? And let's stop creating hideout castles for them under the guise of they are so dangerous and deadly if we all refuse to entertain their excesses they will soon run out of breath. The fact is Mr Tompolo is a criminal and hence shouldn't be given more feathers to soar, and that's what glorifying results in.
Exactly, we easily give in to silly threats in Nigeria, even a petrol attendant [whose livelihood depend on my buying fuel] can easily threaten that there will be fuel scarcity in Nigeria and the next thing everyone starts rushing to any filling station to buy up every available fuel. That's how cowardly we behave in Nigeria. What the Niger Delta needs is sustainable development and not handouts, simple.
Politics › Re: Why Buhari Must Handle Tompolo With Tact by Goke7: 1:52pm On Jul 24, 2015
I continue to say that nothing lasts forever, anybody who thought that the father christmas gifts they were all enjoying in the last administration will lasts forever was only deluding himself, wisdom teaches that when you are enjoying your period of boom, invest wisely and establish yourself for the rainy day. Did the likes of Tompolo and all who benefited heavily from the last administration thought that Jonathan will be President forever? even if Jonathan was re-elected for a second tenure, will they have been clamouring for a third term to keep on enjoying their loot?

Nigerians must come to reality that truly nothing lasts forever, The Niger Delta region had all the opportunity to turn all their captivity around with Jonathan as President and set themselves on a path of sustainable prosperity but some few individuals hijacked the whole cake for themselves and are now crying foul and wants to blame other Nigerians for their acts of foolishness, I wish them Goodluck sha but history continues to show that no individual or group of persons can hold Nigeria to ransom. Boko haram continues to thrive because the region where they operates does not contributes much to Nigeria's fortune but I can assure folks that the Government will never allow some group of persons in an area that contributes much to Nigeria to go up in smoke in-spite of the threats, even the Governors in the Niger Delta cannot afford crisis for now, Its not just an Abuja affair but a serious International affair.
Politics › Re: Why Buhari Took His Son, Yusuf On The Official US Trip – Presidency by Goke7: 11:29am On Jul 24, 2015
Nigerians sha, There is no way Buhari will go on a trip like without a member of his immediate family especially when his wife was not part of the trip, there are little domestic issues that only a member of his family can help him out, not even his personal assistants.

There are too many kids on nairaland so I can understand and appreciate all the wailing here lol
Politics › Re: Buhari's Planned Probe Of Only Jonathan Administration And The "Far Past" by Goke7: 10:12pm On Jul 23, 2015
The way I see people getting heartaches because of the plan to probe the immediate past Government amazes me, one big lesson am learning here is things will never remain the same forever, the Jonathan Govt thought that because the past Governments before them got away with their loot meant that they can easily get away with theirs too which is why they are actually hiding behind the past Governments corrupt practices to justify their corrupt actions too, what a big shame to the likes of the so called Ngozi Iwela and our former President with his so called Phd. Its a big shame that people who were accusing buhari that he has no certificate or education can afford to justify their mess with other people's mess, do we really have shame in this country.

My last word, Please I beg everyone the fact that you see someone stealing everyday and getting away with it does not mean that when you start yours that you won't be caught at your very first attempt, guys often caught at the airport for drug trafficking most times are first timers.

Jonathan knows what to do i.e. return the money and save us from further embarrassment but to keep the money and begged not to be probed is asking for too much and nobody in this life can have everything, even the likes of ibb, obj, abacha and all former heads of state did not have it all. You win some and loose some but Jonathan wants to have everything and use the concession of defeat as a cover up for his loot.

Times have changed, all the excuses of obj, abacha and ibb did same cannot hold water anymore as the country is in dire need of funds and Jonathan and his cohorts knows this, they just have to let go of their greed now.

wao, its great to see how people are excited to have oliseh to coach the eagles, this is how we were excited to have siasia and even keshi at the beginning but i must remind Oliseh that this is the least talented generation of Nigerian players we've ever had, these are not like his days then o, its easy to sit in the studio and analyse how the players should play but getting to the training pitch with them is a different ball game.

I wish Oliseh well but he must also be reminded that Nigerians will not be too patient with him including all the journalists that are cheering him up to coach the eagles, success only has relatives in nigeria, the moment he fails to invite fans or journalists' favourite players, the lower to the ground he begins to go [he can ask keshi or siasia about this]as his first two games will be crucial.

As for Oliseh fans [am not included] Please stick with him thru thick and thin, anyone who says it will be an easy ride is only deceiving himself.

God bless Nigeria.
