He Laid Down His Life For You! · Wednesday, December 25th ·

Pastor Chris

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13).

The Lord Jesus laid down His life for us. No other shepherd, before or after Him, ever did that. He wasn’t the first to be crucified, but He was the first to be crucified in the place of others, surrendering Himself of His own free will. He could have delivered Himself from His captors as they led Him to the cross, but He didn’t. He chose to go on and die for us all; it wasn’t that He had no option; He was driven by love.

Jesus did everything He did because He loved us; when He declared His purpose for coming in St. John’s Gospel it was that we might have life, and that we might have it to the full (John 10:10). Testifying before Pilate in John 18:37 He said, "…To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice." He came to bear witness to the truth. What is that truth?

He declared it in John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Jesus was born for us, lived for us, and died for us because of His love for us. As we celebrate His birth today, let your focus be on the purpose for which He came, lived, died, and rose again triumphantly. It was so that you might have eternal life—the God-kind of life—and become one with the Father.

Prayer..
Dear Father, I thank you for loving me with an everlasting love, and for sending Jesus to pay the price for my salvation. I yield my life completely to you, and declare that your will and purpose are perfected in me today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Christianity EtcRe: Can I Make Heaven Without Going To Church? by Gombs(m): 8:34pm On Dec 24, 2013
ledafaze: You can only make heaven by believing in Jesus Christ, his death, salvation, washing away of sins and justification because we live by faith.

If one pastor quotes the bible that the bible says you must not revoke the meeting of believers, tell that pastor that you are all believers in your family... even on Nairaland we meet here as believers... praying with your family is also part of meeting as believers... so don't be fooled.

Going to heaven is not tied to your church attendance. Jesus was there to prove a point... to hear and teach the word of God... If they had internet in those days, I believe it should not be stressful for him.

If you ask me, I really don'y have a constant church... I have been to a few tho... and I only try stick to where i believe they really teach unbiased.

Presently with The Apostolic Church (TAC) - Its like a family church service everytime I attend cos the pastors are always free to talk and they say the truth... the only thing I really dont like there is the way the offering goes... kai!

Also MFM... was even a teacher there but had to leave when we were told to uphold anything Dr D. K. Olukoya holds and reject what he rejects.... spoon-feeding at this age and time? Abegi! But I really love their service, the only church where Praise and Worship goes for over 1 hour every sunday... Whao! and the hymns.. like 5 - 7 every sunday service... more so, I had to leave when they started forcing me to teach @ the head quarters cos I was not ready to tell the followers to also hold what the G.O. holds... him be God?

Synagogue... I have been there a few times... to feed my eyes ni o jare... Sebi when Jesus was passing by a guy possessed by legions, He already knew from afar but still passed there to feed his physical eyes and also tell a story... so I was there also to do eye feeding...

Celestial Church of Christ (C. C. C.) ... Cherubim and Seraphim (C & S), Christ Apostolic Church (C. A. C), Christ Apostolic Mission Church (C. A. M. C), TREM, Deeper Life, Catholic, Anglican... but not and never the Church of Satan...

So, the bottom of it all is this... Religion is of the world... but Christlikeness is within.

EDIT: I never type finish, Ajibam don come... anyways I see you!
U be church supervisor abi inspector? shocked

At op did Jesus ever missed going to the synagogue? The man went there as frequent as normal
Find a church and be a part of raising others in the faith

Brokenness?

Hmmm OP, please find another word to use.... brokenness ( the right spelling) has alot to do with negetivities, and as such I don't subscribe to it. Use another noun instead of brokenness or another kind of adjective pls.

And I'd have to call your attention to your second paragraph. It was somewhat ironic.... brokenness meaning dead to the flesh, self denied, surrendering to God etc... those for me are meekness, humility and patience. Why u chose to call them brokenness is a mystery to me.

However, excusing the topic "brokeness", your write up was stupendous. God bless you

Goshen360: @ Gombs,

Sometimes, it appears some Christians study the word BUT they don't understand tenses. This is not an insult to them but that's what it seems like. How can someone be reading "A is LIKE B" and be telling us it is the same meaning as "A IS B"? This is the problem we have with folks today and we wonder why so much argument as if we, Christians are bunch of confused people. The same problem I have with the OP, if he likes, let him call Melchizedek anything but saying Melchizedek is Christ, Oh Lord, help us!

And, YOU, Gombs, leave that tithe matter this Christman season, the one una don collect don do. grin

Christianity EtcRe: Jesus Christ Is Melchizedec In The Old Testament by Gombs(m): 10:13am On Dec 24, 2013
Bidam: @Gombs, the point is Melchizedek was a Type of Christ of Old,Moses was a Type of Christ,David was a Type of Christ, Joseph was a Type of Christ,
Samson was a Type of Christ. Read their stories and see REDEMPTION in them. In the NT i am a Type of Christ. Paul says Christ has many membered PARTS. Christ filled the OT as well as the NT, The bible is ALL about Christ. Do you not see how you are missing it? Let's look at the Melchi story again.

Melchisedec was a type of Christ as Priest. He was without father and mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life, but made like unto the Son of God. Now, remember this, in Hebrews 13:8: "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever."

And let me also point out an interesting story about Abraham's encounter with 3 visitors in Gen 18. Do you know who they were? They ate what Abraham gave them? God is Spirit, does God eat food? You can see this thing is bigger than what you can imagine.

When Jesus appeared before His disciples after his resurrection he asked to be given food and he ate it to show them he was flesh and bones(none of his bones was broken), He shed his blood to show us that the life of the flesh is in the blood. Right now Jesus is sitted as a person at the right hand of God the Father. To say He never preexisted his birth is poor bible knowledge on you part.
What I am against is that Jesus was/is melchizedek..... Melchizedek is/was a type of Christ is far different from Melchizedek is Jesus.

As for the above bold, I chose to ignore ur indirect invective and unguided slanderous remark, You might wanna choose ur adjectives more careful in the future.

MEILYN: how will John know Christ is melchizedec? John the baptist didnt even know he was Elijah. This philosophy of yours doesnt discard the fact that Melchizedec is Christ, and again you dont believe in Regeneration. So thats why you think so bro.

Christ met Abraham and Abraham didnt try to kill him, but he rejoiced to see Christs day. Where did that occur in the old testament? It fits Melchizedec visit to Abraham perfectly.
I was talking about John the beloved.... aBi na john the Baptist write the book of John?... John the Baptist came in the power of elijah, even if he was elijah, it would not be termed reincarnation, because elijah never died in his day.
Atheism to you might not be a religion or might be a "lack of religious" beliefs but does that give anyone the right to insult them for any reason?
Bro... I never said anyone should insult them....

As for whether I think atheism is a religion, I would say yes. It is weird and kind of not correct but if you say it is not a religion, why would you say they should be lumped with paganism?
Even when they don't believe in a deity or the existence of God?... fascinating. I 'thought' not 'said'0 they should be 'left' not 'lumped' with paganism because they are a very very very vast minority.... satanist can join them too, voodoo too, bhuddist, name them. They should be together not as a discriminatory factor, but due to the fact that they are a microscopic few. (Men, that their place go dey boring die... grin they would only get fun or lively when they attack Christianity.

Lol.... I was just saying this cos, I'd give my right hand to see the sections for just none Christians... voodoo, bhuddist, pagans, atheists, agnostic etc....
Bros, no vex, just ignore my thoughts about em folks being ostracized....twas a wild joke.

As for the creation of sections......not my jurisdiction
Suggest it.... pls do. BTW, pls where did HBG go to?

On a lighter note, I just become pessimistic when it gets to atheists, not that I hate them (of course I can't) , but I just can help being pessimistic. Ask me why?
I'd tell u... mynd44, do u like a mouse? No, I'm guessing. But if u are in your room and a mouse runs in, even if it has a good intention, u can't help but get pessimistic. Then u go after it, to chase him out... that is almost instinctive, right. But when a squirrel get into ur room, u stare at it with amazement, and would even wanna keep it, u would wanna accommodate it, not minding the intention it has, right? Now, both of them are rodents, and can Spread same kinda disease, but why then do u instinctively go after the mouse, and would wanna keep the squirrel?

The squirrel for me is the ignorant unbeliver, the mouse is the one who know the truth and chooses to ignore it. Now, love is of God, and I have to love all men, that's why I love em atheists and pagans n all, but I can't stop telling them the gospel, and they seem to don't wanna stop deceiving themselves. If I tell them and they disbelieve, fine.

Expect LB and amanfrommars to attack me... grin

Thanks man, for ur time, I'm just hoping u tell d ogas that we Christians would love our own section, I'd let posterity judge my thought.

MEILYN: "For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;" (Hebrews 7:1).<<< Now lets get this story from the old testament and see what really happened between Abraham and Melchizedec

"And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king’s dale. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God." (Genesis 14:17-18).
"And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all." (Genesis 14:19-20)
.<< Now, when Abraham saw Melchizedec he was very happy, he rejoiced and Melchizedec blessed Abraham. Now lets goto that Hebrews and complete that verse.

"To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;" (Hebrews 7:2).<<< He was the king of righteousness and of peace, now who is that?

"Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually." (Hebrews 7:3).<< Melchizedec had no father or mother or decent, Melchizedec had no beginning of days or end of life but He was made like unto Christ, he just popped out of no where, he abideth a Priest continually, a priest of the most high God.

Now lets see how Melchizedec is Christ without wasting time.

"Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?" (John 8:53).<< the Pharisees came asking Christ, they came asking if Christ is greater than Abraham.

"They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham. " (John 8:39).
"But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. " (John 8:40).
<< now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, this did not Abraham, wow, Abraham did not try to kill Christ? Where the hell did Christ and Abraham meet?

"Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. " (John 8:56).<< Abraham rejoiced to see the day of Christ? Wait a minute, dont try to tell me these things happened in the Spirit world because they where talking about earthly things. What did Abraham do when he saw Melchizedec? He rejoiced to see Melchizedec.

"Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?" (John 8:57).<< The jews were shocked and they asked Christ the same question am asking, you are not up to 50years old and you said you have seen Abraham? How is that even possible?

"Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. " (John 8:58).<< wow, now you see Christ was Melchizedec, Christ is a priest, so was Melchizedec. Melchizedec has no beginning or end, so was Christ. Melchizedec king of Righteousness and Peace.
When Jesus said before Abraham was I am... that obviously would have been a wrong grammar, twas suppose to be "before Abraham was, I were". But Jesus knew what he was saying when He said "before Abraham was I AM"... He was referring to the name God called him self "I am that I am".... Jesus was actually saying " look buddies, l already existed before everything... even your father Abraham"

Stop proliferating false doctrine and thoughts all in the guise of proving whatnis not worth proving in the first place

MEILYN: I dont know why some Christians argue things they shouldnt argue. Even if you show them from the bible.

Now if Melchizedec isnt Christ, it means there is another Christ or someone like Christ.

Melchizedec=1]King of righteousness and peace.
2] had no beginning or end of life.
3] made like unto Christ.
4]high priest

Please people, is there someone exactly like Christ? If he isnt Christ then he and Christ must be on the same level. Who is melchizedec please? I stand to be corrected, but nobody has given me a reason to discard this...
Didn't wanna get involved in this, but your above is a worrying thought.

Quick quiz, did Jesus EVER exist as a person in heaven or on earth before he was born by the virgin? The answer is a big NO! Why? Because John 1 said the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.... this was during John's time, twas not Abraham's time, and this was the only time such was done, and twas solely done to redeem man.

Know this.....Jesus is not melchizedek. If he were, then Hebrews 7 would have lied to us from the fact that it said that a priest would rise up in the same order as melchizedek, meaning these folks were two different folks. Note however, that he was LIKE the Son of God.... if it is not panadol, it can never be panadol.

And Goshen, I'm watching u.... Be careful, u might contradict ur tithing stand with this melchizedek thread.... and I'd redily archive it.

Proclaim That He Reigns Tuesday December 24th, 2013
Pastor Anita

I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, amen; and have the keys of hell and of death (Revelations 1:18).

The Lord Jesus, after His resurrection, appeared to His disciples and said, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you..." (Matthew 28:18-20). No one ever spoke with such boldness and audacity! He had all authority in heaven and earth; and on the basis of that authority, He commissioned us to preach the good news of God;s Kingdom, and tell the world of His plan of salvation.

Our responsibility, as ministers of reconciliation, is the most sublime on the face of the earth. Nothing could be more dignifying, rewarding, and fulfilling than being the oracles of God; preachers of righteousness ; bearers of the divine order and dispenser of eternal verities! He has entrusted His glorious Gospel of salvation to us. Take that light to someone in your world today.

In Christmas season, a time when people are generally friendly, and in joyous mood; seize the opportunity. Don't wait for them to come to you; go to them, and initiate a conversation, with the aim of ministering the Gospel to them. Many around the world who celebrate Christmas don't know the miracle of the birth and life of Jesus. To them it's a story, but He's not just a story! He's the One declared to be the dead, and is alive today, and has all authority in heaven and in the earth.

We're to herald the great news of His salvation around the world, letting men know that He has paid the penalty of their sins. We must proclaim Him as savour of the World, and the Lord of heaven and earth!

PRAYER:
Dear Father, I thank you for the privilege given me to preach the unsearchable riches of Christ, and minister life to those in my world, through the Gospel. Thank you for empowering me for this glorious task, which I'm pleased to carry out today, in the demonstration of the Spirit, and of power, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Christ In You Means Glory In Your Life! · Monday, December 23rd ·

Pastor Chris

To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).

The last verse of the Christmas song, "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," written by Charles Wesley, tells us something beautiful: Christ was born to make it possible for men to be born again. It says, "…Born that man no more may die Born to raise the sons of earth, Born to give them second birth…."

Now that’s wonderful; Christ has been born in our hearts. This important thought was what the Apostle Paul referred to when he said, "…Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Colossians 1:27). Do you know what it is for Christ to be in you?

That means the miracle worker Himself is alive in you. Remember, He is the one who opened the eyes of the blind (John 9:1-7, Matthew 9:27-31, Mark 10:46-52), unstopped deaf ears (Mark 7:31-37), gave the lame new legs to walk (Matthew 21:14), and restored maimed limbs—those who had their legs amputated—He gave them new legs to walk (Matthew 15:30). He fed the multitudes (five thousand men; women and children not counted) with a little boy’s lunch (John 6:5-13), and raised the dead (John 11:43- 44, Luke 7:11-15)!

This same Jesus lived, died, and was raised back to life, to be born in our hearts. Think about this for a moment: Christ has taken up His abode in the quarters of your heart; that means He has become one with your spirit. The Church needs to get a hold of this reality. Christ is in you now; and that means glory has come. This is the essence of Christmas. Christmas means you’re in Christ now; you have the life and nature of God now. You’ve become the effulgence, as well as the carrier, of His glory. No wonder He said in John 17:22, "And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them…."

Prayer..
I thank you, precious Father, for crowning me with your glory, and making me the perfection of your beauty and grace. I manifest your glory today everywhere, displaying in earnest, your excellence, virtues and perfections, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

"…Add To Your Faith…" · Sunday, December 22nd ·

Pastor Chris

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:5-8 ).

To better understand the actual meaning of the word "add" as used above, I’ll give you a brief history of that word. In Peter’s day, they had these Athenian or Greek dramas, enacted on stage. Usually, there were three major collaborators required. One was the scriptwriter, who wrote the script for the play, and then the state who provided the theatre where the play would be staged; thirdly, they required what was called "the sponsor."

That word "sponsor" is from the Greek "choregeo," and it means the supplier; the one who lavishly sponsored or supplied all that was necessary for the successful staging of the play. This was the financier. Therefore, when the Word says, "add to your faith virtue," for instance, it doesn’t just mean taking one thing and adding another to make two; no. It means "epichoregeo" (Greek); "to lavishly supply" or "sponsor" virtue to your faith. What’s the importance of this?

God has already given you faith: "…according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith" (Romans 12:3). However, here you are in this world, which, in a sense, is your stage, where you’re acting out your role, based on the script (God’s Word) that’s been written concerning you. However, you need some "supply" such as, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love, to make your faith effective and enjoy all the blessings that God has given to you in Christ.

Now, understand that these things, which you’re to add to your faith, are already in you; you only need to dig deep within you, bring them forth, and put them to work! The communication of your faith—your faith-life—becomes effectual when you acknowledge that they’re in you, and put them to work in your life (Philemon 1:6).

Prayer..

Dear Father, I thank you for your Word, which is my life; it dominates my thoughts, actions and words. I’m growing my prevailing faith, and I’m effective and fruitful in every good work, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
