Hey Sista, I understand you now.
Christianity EtcRe: Bleeding Statue Of Jesus At Warri! by goodguy(m): 6:59pm On Sep 22, 2006
zebudaya:
You must be feeling preety smart right now, with a nice smile on your face, hold on let me wipe it off
What is this supposed to mean?

zebudaya:
1) Egypt right now is more developed than 90% of African countries, they may be in africa geographically, but economically and by culture they are Arab. Even so back then they were more developed than any African or South American country they had Writing, Built Pyramids, and Chariots.
I do not dispute this fact at all.  The reason why I raised this issue was because it seemed you were secluding Egypt from the rest of Africa; when you said Egypt was better developed than Africa.

zebudaya:
So according to your reasoning the American/British Garbage Collector is not living in a developed country? huh
This is not what I mean.  Rather, my point is that in a country where majority of the people engage in not-so-productive professions, like carpentery and fishing, I don't think such country should be classified as 'developed'.  Remember in the days of Jesus, there were far more beggars than rich men (at least, as portrayed in the Bible).  I don't think this is the case in the developed nations of today.

zebudaya:
You have to be preety developed back then to overlay the inside of temple with pure gold, you have to make enough money to finance the project don't you think?
Solomon was the richest man in the world (1 Kings 3:13), so I don't know how this affected the state of the nation back then.  The fact that Mike Adenuga is the richest man in Nigeria today, and can use pure gold to build a mansion, does not make Nigeria a developed country.

zebudaya:
The stones were hewn from a quarry and brought to the Temple:, everything was constructed off site, engineered and measured precisely then assembled at the temple so that no hammer or chisel or any iron tool was heard in the temple while it was being built. What about transportation how did they move heavy stones from place to place?
Yet you say they were not developed for that era?
It took the efforts and wealth of one man to make that possible.  That does not still mean it was a developed nation.

zebudaya:
and as for not having "any sorts of classification of continents" check out where paul went in Acts 19:22

19:22 And having sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while.
Read again.  I said, in the days of Jesus, not Paul.  Things were already becoming modern in Paul's time.
Christianity EtcRe: Bleeding Statue Of Jesus At Warri! by goodguy(m): 11:15pm On Sep 21, 2006
For your info, Egypt is in Africa.  Besides, I don't think there were any sorts of classifications of continents as at the time of Jesus.  Also, even though he was born in Isreal, I doubt if Isreal could be classified as a developed nation then.  Do not forget Jesus was a carpenter in this "developed" country (as you've classified it).  If he was born in Rome, then I could reason with you.

Before you put up any oppositions of any sort to that story, I urge you to please read through everything on that page.  Thanks.

This does not make any sense.

Assuming you go to church for communion with your God,

Why should you get distracted by some people talking behind you?
Why should you get distracted by the fly hovering around your head?
Why should you be disturbed by what your pastor uses your tithes for?
Why should you even take note of your surroundings at all?

In Bolivia, the statue was not only bleeding, it was weeping as well. Even cameras recorded the falling tears.

KDK: Like I said earlier, Even if the statue is sweating,or peeing; All I know is that it a statue and you have turned it into an idol just the way you turned images of angels and dead saints to idols all in the name of giving honour. What do you understand is an idol and what do you think the term worship means sef?
They have turned it into an idol?  I wonder how.

zebudaya: Why would God make a statue bleed?
Are you asking?

KDK: @ Medube,
Listen to yourself. You are talking to images (both prints and otherwise) of JESUS, SAINTS AND ANGELS. What do you think the occults do with the images in their shrine, they just use it to decorate. They talk to them too you know. Please , it's like you guys need to open the dictionaries to check the meaning of worship.
When you look up to the sky and pray (to God), does it mean you're talking to the sky?  Or that you're worshipping the sky?

KDK: God clearly said it in HIS words that he will not share HIS glory with another (Isaiah 48:11) and The bible categorically said it in 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is ONE GOD and ONE MEDIATOR between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,. Remember Jesus said He had an exclusive right to accessing the father in John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
You're right.  But what's the essence of your sermon here?  Afterall, it's not like any statue is sharing any glory with God.  And it's not like the statue is serving as a mediator between God and man.

KDK: Is it written in your bible that mary was the mother of God?
Not at all.  But it is written in my Bible that Mary gave birth to Jesus.

KDK: Do you really think God had sex with mary?
Not at all.  Why would such a thing cross your mind, pastor?

KDK: If Mary was so special , do you think Jesus christ wouldn't have set out that law that we must honour her as she is the mother of GOD? (Mother of God Indeed  ).
Jesus never came to earth to give any law.  That was not his mission on earth.  Besides, he needn't set out any laws about honoring his earthly mother; just as he didn't need to set out any laws for Christians to celebrate Christmas.

KDK: My God has no mother because  He is the beginning and the end, before all things were made (including Mary) HE already was.
We all know that.  But Jesus had a mother while he was on earth.

KDK: Think about it, were is it written that the disciples (Who are the pillars of the Church) honoured Mary. Even Peter the 1st Pope didn't.
They didn't celebrate Christmas either.

whytee:
medube: Are you questioning the decisions of God?
Why not
Hmmmm. . So you really dare question the ways of God?  Interesting!

whytee:
when He says we shouldnt worsip or bow down to any image. Is God now an author of confusion. No He is not
Yes God said so.  And I don't think anyone has violated that commandment yet.  Please be reminded that we're talking of a bleeding statue here, not statue worshipping.

whytee:
Anything in any form of any thing called statue has nothing to do with God.
Including the cross you carry about?  And the one at the top of your church building?

whytee:
By the way why should you pay much attention to a carved work by a man instead of to God Himself. The statue has nothing to offer Isaiah17 vs 7-8
We are paying so much attention to it because it was bleeding.  That should get you thinking!

whytee:
Have you also heard of people who claimed to be Jesus Christ or havent you seen them on newsline. read Matt 24 v 23 - 27
Exodus 20 vs 3 - 5 can answer your question
What is it that you don't believe?  The fact that the statue was bleeding, or the fact that it happened in Warri?

KDK:
Just that HE wouldn't do it through statues like they thot.
But it happened in Warri, and even in Bolivia some years back.  We have at least 2 people who reside in Warri on this forum, and have confirmed the incidence.

KDK:
@charlisco,
You guys are so so naive. The bible clearly stipulates the right mode of worship but youchoose to allow the devil deceive you by a statue.
I don't think people worship the statue.  I don't think anyone here has talked about worshiping of any statue.  It was only reported that the statue was bleeding, and has been confirmed by some people residing in Warri.  Besides, it's not just any statue; it's the statue of Jesus.

KDK:
I am not even contesting about whether blood was flowing or not;
But you seem not to believe, even though people have confirmed it here on this forum.

KDK:
rather I am telling you that it is wrong for you to pay so much attention to an image.
It's the image of Jesus.  Anything wrong with that?

whytee:
Please read Isaiah 42 vs 8 which says: I am the Lord, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images
For God's sake, people don't worship the carved image!  It's just a man-made statue that is used to revere the presence of Jesus.  They do not worship it!

I think you missed the first line of goodguy's post.

KAG:
If he brought a picture of him sitting with the ghost, and can demonstrate conclusively that the picture was taken three years after her death, then I would believe him.
Listen to yourself.  How do you expect one to demonstrate conclusively with a picture, on a forum?  That's the point I'm trying to make here, and that was why I said you wouldn't believe.  Besides, if it is a picture of him and a ghost who appears to be like just any other human, of course, you will not believe.  And even if it really was a ghost (the way they are usually portrayed), you'll conclude that it was achieved with a Photoshop effect.

KAG:
If she came here to confirm the story, AND can tell me things about relatives and friends that no one except an other-worldly being should know, then I would believe.
If she came up here to confirm the story herself;  first, you wouldn't believe a ghost would use a computer; secondly, you will accuse the 'ghost' of being a regular human who is just disguising as one on the forum.  Hence, any explanations offered by the ghost wouldn't make any difference to you.

KAG:
See above for examples. By the way, don't quit your day job, you'd mke an awful mind reader.
Don't quit your day job also.  You'd make an awful mind twister.
Christianity EtcGod Created Man In His Own Image? by goodguy(op): 10:32pm On Sep 18, 2006
Often times, we, at one time or the other call a fellow human "ugly", and the next thing we usually hear from the "good Christians" among us is: "Don't call her 'ugly'.  She was created in the image of God.  Calling her 'ugly' means you are abusing God.  We are all created in the image of God, hence beautifully made; so stop it!".

Now, while going through a thread recently, I found these posts below really sensible (both made by darkmanzero).

personally I'd put it this way. your SOUL, which makes you a Child Of God (TM) was made by GOD himself (which is why u can't see it, duuuuuh) and put inside a fleshy vessel (with selfish needs and desires that drive you to SIN) that was descended from Apes. So the FLESH was descended from apes, but the SPIRIT is a creation of GOD! afterall its created in GOD's divine image, and since we can't see God the fact that we can't see the soul follows suit.

Or do u want to tell me that GOD has 2 legs 2 arms, a head with EYES ON THE FRONT (what a terrible location), a TAIL THAT IS COMPLETELY USELESS (except for opening and closing ya butthole so u don't stink up the place when ya farting away, does GOD fart?!?!??!) an Appendix for breaking down chorophyll,  which we NO LONGER NEED TO DO (since we no longewr swing about de trees like our simian cousins in the orang-utang gang) ,  a ridiculous arrangement where his reproductive organs and TOXIC WASTE DISPOSAL SYSTEM are forced to use the SAME body orifice,  Sheeeeeesh!!!!!!

If u really believed in God u wouldnt claim that this fleshy vessel is anything like him. It is an Ape. Or at least it was one before the LORD breathed your spirit into it! rejoice!
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-11284.0.html#msg312858

In any case, I think it shouldnt be hard to accept that the spirit is created by God and the fleshy body is akin to that of an ape. Personally I think that it is even more insulting to religious sensibilities to claim that the body is in the image of God. It is the SPIRIT and not this smelly, sinful, blood-and-sweat-suppurating meat sack that is in the image of God.
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-11284.0.html#msg312967

Personally, I will like to go with his line of thought that it is our soul, our spirit, that is created in the image of God, and not our fleshy body.  However, I do not agree that we are apes. I believe man was created with dust; but hey. . that's offtopic.

What do you guys think?

Christianity EtcRe: Bleeding Statue Of Jesus At Warri! by goodguy(m): 8:47pm On Sep 18, 2006
The one that happened in Bolivia, in 1995 seems more real to me; except someone made up that story.

Take a look at these interesting facts:

-The statue has been thoroughly tested and found not to be fraudulent
-The statue forms tears of human blood at the eyes that weep down the face, caught on camera in the video
-The blood has been tested and found to be human
-The blood contained a piece of thorn, identified as a thorn from the Hawthorne bush, believed to have been the type of thorn used to make the crown of thorns for Jesus of Nazareth.

See also the Scientific examination, as well as the Theological explanation.  Infact, read the full story.

maka_why,

Funny enough, I was just searching for this same thing 2 days ago.  I also want to update my PC BIOS, though I'm yet to do that.

Please note that you cannot update your BIOS with a flash drive (unless you have the software inside your flash drive), and you cannot flashdrive your PC BIOS. grin

You seem to be confused with the terms being used here.  I'll explain.

Actually, there are two types of motherboard ROM chips.  The Mask-ROM and the Flash-ROM.  The Mask-ROM cannot be upgraded with software, but the Flash-ROM can.  Therefore, you can only update your motherboard BIOS by downloading and installing programs, if it has a Flash-ROM chip (most modern motherboards do, anyway).

I guess what you really want to know is how you can upgrade your BIOS by software.  Well, first things first, you should know your motherboard manufacturer, motherboard model, and your BIOS manufacturer.  Then all other things shall be made available to you.  If you do not want to go through the whole process of checking your BIOS manufaturer, the date and serial during POST (i.e. while your PC is just booting); as well as the stress of deciphering the codes of the serials, then you should download either Sandra, EVEREST, or Hwinfo32.  I recommend EVEREST because it also gives you a direct link to download your motherboard BIOS, unlike the others.  Download EVEREST here:  http://www.lavalys.com/products/download.php?pid=3&lang=en

Check this page to see how EVEREST works: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/236/3

See this site for more info:  http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/33 (Go through all the 7 pages).

I hope this helps.

Sentiments!  Sentiments!!

What makes the usage of the left hand for elders a rude act?  Why isn't the right hand too considered offensive?  I need strong reasons to believe it's actually rude, I need someone to really convince me that using the left hand for elders is offensive.  not just. . 'it is my culture and I love it that way'.  If it's your culture, so??  Does that make it sensible?

I need answers people, not sentiments!
