Christianity EtcRe: I Am An Atheist by goodguy(m): 6:33pm On Aug 08, 2006
KAG:
First, evolution, as used in biology and the theory of evolution, doesn't say things are perfect, nor does it say the Earth is perfect. In fact, no science theory I've come across says the Earth and all it contains, are perfect. I've only heard of a perfect Earth, etc, in religion.

Second, the theory of evolution wasn't "cooked up by an idle, ignorant fellow, who believe[d] he [was] intelligent enough to deceive the whole world.", not that it would have mattered much if that was what he was, because science theories aren't based on the character of the "founder", but based on the evidence behind them, and how they stand up to close examination.

Finally, just for emphasis, only religion speaks of the perfection of the Earth.
Thanks for the clarification. I was under the impression that we all view the earth as a perfect creation (whichever was you think it was created). Now I know that evolutionists actually see the earth as imperfect. However, I hope you know that are also theistic evolutionists, who may not share this same view with you.

@Eurphoria, how old are you? huh

IDINRETE:
so only Noah and his entire household were innocent in the eyes of the God of the Bible
Yes.  Only Noah and his entire household were innocent in God's sight.

IDINRETE:
what about the little children, all the adults that were innocent and all other animals that were just destroyed.
Only Noah and his entire household were innocent.  No other was.  And. . if you've read the Bible well, no animal was destroyed.  They were all taken into the ark.

IDINRETE:
that God must be a very wicked God o.
Not at all.  Please be well-informed next time, before making certain statements.

P.S.  Did you check the links I provided on page 1?

Christianity EtcRe: I Am An Atheist by goodguy(m): 5:09pm On Aug 08, 2006
Eurphoria,

If the thread is boring, or if you're tired of reading the same old arguments, why don't you ignore the thread and go find something more appealing to you?  Why tell nferyn to get a life? Why don't you also log out of the forum and go find something to do for your family also? Remember this is a forum, so you should expect all kinds of situations here. If you can't stomach it, then you leave. It's not by force!

nferyn:
perfection isn't human.
According to evolutionists, the earth in which we all live, was perfectly formed through an evolutionary process. Humans too, if I'm not mistaken, are a result of evolution. So how come the same evolutionary process which perfected the earth, and it's components, did not perfect the humans as well? If you believe the earth was formed perfectly by evolution, then I see no reason why humans too should not be perfect. But since you already admitted that perfection isn't human, then I refuse to believe we all came into existence as a result of some process, cooked up by an Idle, ignorant fellow, who believes he's intelligent enough to deceive the whole world.
Christianity EtcThe Bermuda Triangle by goodguy(op): 11:11pm On Aug 07, 2006
The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, is an area of the north Atlantic Ocean where it is popularly believed a significant number of ships and aircraft have disappeared under highly unusual circumstances. It has become popular through its representation by mass media as an area of paranormal activity where the known laws of physics are violated. It has even been suggested that extraterrestrial beings are responsible for some of the disappearances.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bermuda_Triangle

So now, what do you guys think?  I believe this shouldn't be strange to anyone.  So what are your opinions concerning this?  For those of us that believe in the supernatural, do you think it's more of a spiritual something, than physical/logical?  And for the others, what do you have to say?

You can read more about the Bermuda Triangle here or just do a quick google search.

Christianity EtcRe: Celestial Church of Christ: Your Experience And Opinion by goodguy(m): 10:29pm On Aug 07, 2006
alheri:
the celes in our midst are taking it personal.
I beg to differ here.  I personally have not taken anything personal here.  I believe we're only trying to make ourselves understand certain things.

alheri:
But I think the best way one can start is by accepting that there is a problem before help can come, not trying to counter-argue what alot of people here have experienced first hand.
Obviously, virtually every Cele member who has posted on this thread, myself included, has admitted that there are problems in the Celestial fold, so I do not understand why you're reiterating that.  However, what I find disturbing here is that thought of yours that implies that we shouldn't defend derogatory statements made against the church.  You may be surprised to know that some people's "experiences" here are only based on 'hear-says'.

But then, I wouldn't blame most people for always saying negative things about Cele.  It was only recently that I also started hearing things about so many other cele parishes elsewhere, confirmed by notable members.  There are just so many of those bad ones out there, and people keep going there and keep falling for their lies; and at the end of the day, when fowl yansh open, Cele will be labelled generally as bad.  I guess the only reason why I am usually so defensive over Cele is because I have never had a single bad experience in my own parish, which usually makes me believe other parishes are as good as mine too.  I guess I was wrong.

There are many bad cele churches out there, but the Celestial Church of Christ in its entirety is not bad!

zebudaya:
This is the dumbest idea ever, the minister of Education should be shot!, there are more pressing issues in Education.
how can kids aged 6-15 be in the same school, i bet the rate of bullying would increase.
Did you read this part? :-

He explained that to achieve the objective of the Universal Basic Education, which included Education-For-All, the Federal Governement had made it mandatory for every child to have compulsory and uninterrupted education for the first nine years.

"This new arrangement means that a child must attend the six-year primary and the three-year junior secondary school," he said.

He explained that any child that concluded the first nine years of education, depending on his or her academic qualification, could proceed to the senior secondary or, go for technical education.
A child doesn't have to be aged 15yrs and still be in the same school.  The issue here is that they must complete a minimum of 9yrs of primary and junior education, before proceeding to the senior level; even if it means spending each of the 9yrs in 9 different schools.

2. A woman shoots her husband. Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes. Finally, she hangs him. But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together.

How could that be?
wink
She shoots him [there was no mention of a gun], but we are not told that he died. He is under the water for 5 minutes while she holds him, and finally, she hangs him [there was no mention of rope]. So definitely, she didn't do any harm to him. That explains how they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together. wink

Hello Kumbi KC. wink

Sweetnini, I still come online frequently, but usually don't spend much time, and hardly post anymore.  I'm now more of a reader than a poster on this forum.  Most times, I usually come in as a guest, but only log in when I need to reply to a post.  I was actually surfing as a guest when I saw this thread.  Also, I now prefer posting on more serious-minded boards.

Anyway, it's good to see you all once again. kiss

I have actually been thinking of creating a re-union thread for the 'old' nairaland members because these new members have really made this place uninteresting (no offence).

It's great to know nddy is back. God knows I missed that dude's posts. cheesy Welcome back buddy; it's nice to have u around once again.

Wow, I totally forgot about this thread!

KAG:
Exactly, it's useless until you can retroactively fit an occurence to suit the prophecy.
You don't get it, do you?

KAG:
Well, I just heard of both of them for the first time. Something tells me, if Ige hadn't died, the other guy would have been used as the example of the fufilled prophecy.
Well, if Ige wasn't going to die, the prophecy wouldn't have been delivered at all. wink

KAG:
Once again, this is a clear prophecy: {Insert name here}, this is going to happen, on that day, in that year. It will also look like blah, blah. Vague prophecy? See below.
A herbalist should be in the best position to do this type of trick for you. grin

KAG:
When was the time period, how long was it, and who found the prophecy in his pocket? In fact why would he have it in his pocket?
All I know is that it was found in his pocket.  I do not know why he would have it in his pocket and I do not know the time period of the warning prior to the incidence.  The important thing here is that he didn't heed to the warning, and something tragic happened to him.

KAG:
Perhaps not. So, what kind of setting are we talking about?
How do you expect me to explain that?  It is only best known to the one who experiences such.
