This korokorovirus eh, some rich people are going to commit suicide from loneliness and lack of opportunity to flaunt their riches openly to those worshing them. Someone called it compulsive deprivation behavior. It can choke some people to death. No wonder the happiest billionaires are the ones that can get lost in a crowd of average people and those that disguised their identities to mix freely. |
They claimed Covid-19 cannot kill blacks. They claimed they are covert in the blood of Jesus. They claimed Covid-19 is the disease of the rich. Meanwhile, Nigerians are beating their chests again that it cannot happen here Are these stories planted by racists or by ignorant blacks to deny immediate prevention, precautions and treatment for the most vulnerable people discriminated against everywhere. They even attack any person of goodwill that urge and pointed out what disaster it would create in Africa. |
The early written records that mentionss Ife was during the early fourteenth century High Florescence Era when the well-known adventurer, historian and travelor Ibn Battûta(1325–1354) them in his travelogue. Here we read (1958:409–10) that southwest of the Mâlli (Mali) kingdom lies a country called Yoûfi [Ife?] that is one of the “most considerable countries of the Soudan [governed by a] …souverain [who] is one of the greatest kings.” Battûta’s description of Yoûfi as a country that “No white man can enter … because the negros will kill him before he arrives” appears to reference the ritual primacy long associated with Ife, in keeping with its important manufacturing and mercantile interests, among these advanced technologies of glass bead manufacturing, iron smelting and forging, and textile-production. Blue-green segi beads from Ife have been found as far west as Mali, Mauritania, and modern Ghana, suggesting that Battuta may well have learned of this center in the course of his travels in https://kwekudee-tripdownmemorylane..com/2014/09/ife-people-ancient-artistic-highly_14.html?m=1 |

One thing is clear from this discussion. Kokorovirus has opened the eyes of Africans that all that glitters is not gold. Branding is not reality. The reason 70% of Africans make up the number of deaths is because their health system is not made to take care of blacks. Stop glorifying it because you got token treatment or beat the odds created against you. Umaru Dikko once told us that If we think Nigeria is bad, we should go to America where people pick and search for food in people's garbages. It came to pass in Nigeria. We had a relatively good healthcare system, at least in the South. Prof. Olikoye Kuti mobilized Basic Health Services into Primary Healthcare. He and Dr. Lambo were vilified for promoting Voodoo health care because they emphasized local research and Community Health Officers trained all over the Country. Think about it, Ebola was defeated in Nigeria, not by the best health system in the best Hospitals in Europe and America but by residual training from old school of Nigerian doctors, nurses and grassroots vigilance. Imagine? This is what is going to defeat korunavirus before it wipes us out. Stop your complacency or self denigration. Nigerians, if you cannot help yourselves, who is going to help you? |
Gregyboy, see what you reduce Benin to. They got their ass kicked by Nupe. Nupe got their ass kicked by Oyo and pay allegiance to Ife. They sought refuge in Lagos under Oshodi Tapa. I think your pride will be better served as Yoruba slaves. This is why you will never tell us your Yoruba name because you are not part of the Royal House that conquered you. You won't give up but keep kicking. You even lost your case in Court. Owomika will continue to pay you token after each coronation until you find a way to kick them out. Doubt it. Too late, just pay them Homage. |
Why is this lady being vilified for saying what African head of States should be worried about? These are the same people you are going to carry your calabash to asking for aid after laundering the first million or billion your ever made in Africa, into their Countries. You are supposed to prepare for the worst scenario and then pray that it never happens. But we pray first and then beg the world if it happens. |
A RECONSIDERATION OF THE IFE-BENIN RELATIONSHIP Author: Ryder, F.C. Date published: 1965 Source: Journal of African History Vol.6,no.1,1965,pp25-37 Subject: BENIN ODUDUA KINGSHIP BENIN'S CHIEFS Abstract: The traditions now current among the Edo of Nigeria trace the origin of the Benin dynasty and the associated cire-perdue technique of brass-casting to Ife. |
Gregyboy, I am still waiting. More hint: Ryder - the dynasty which now rule in Binin is related by current tradition to the Yoruba complex of kingship through a common ancestor Oduduwa the founder of ife More? After banishing the last ruler of the first Benin dynasty, Ogiso, so the tradition runs Waiting o |
Gregyboy, Before I do anything else, let me give you a hint: https://www.jstor.org/stable/179645?seq=1 |
Gregyboy, Why did you cut off the Ryder page: with the conquest by Fulani, Beni became absorbed into what? |
TAO11, Abeg no kill person. Which one be Have you heard about the latest joke in town?? One of them said Benin got its name from Birni-Kebbi in Kebbi state. grin |
In the first place, it is not only Igbo doctors that are exploring better opportunities outside the country, they should not take the brunt of the abuse here. Many Nigerians of every profession do. It is very difficult to kill this USA invitation to doctors that are already on their path to temporary license on H visa as already clarified by State Dept. and Embassy. These visas are temporary as those of agriculture workers or computer engineers sponsored by employers. They cannot leave for better jobs or stay over the time of visa unless they are renewed by the same or different employers. Once your visa expires, you are on your own and have to fend for yourself and families anyway you can. So, many do odd jobs because they have become illegal and are paid anything or like their President, call immigration on them on a day before or the day they are due for payment. |
Honestly, I think all workers including doctors, nurses, community health officers, and comunity workers should be well treated. Every worker wants to be adequately rewarded. It all boils down to how much each of us wants from the same pie. What do those that allocated outrageous salaries to politicians base it on? Productivities, needs, skills or unreliable natural resources income which price is dictated by buyers. We all blame everything on infrastructure but we refused to pay or train our engineers on these infrastructure since after Independence. We prefer to employ journeymen from overseas and call them experts in order to launder money. So doctors, engineers, lawyers, iron workers, accountants, politicians etc lock horns on who should get more money from the same pie. Nigeria will never develop if we compare our third world economy with USA and Britain, never with salaries in China, Russia, Sweden or Cuba. Why are we training for USA or Britain when China, India, Russia or Cuba train for local needs? Each of these countries have produced Nobel laureates in Sciences, what has our country produced? |
Many of these families used to say they did not have enough money to send House-helps to school. When Jakande opened schools to all regardless of status, they poured curses on Jakande for lowering educational standard instead of telling the truth. Even their relatives or sisters are not safe. I also blame their husbands. But then, he could be accused of something else. |
One of the many good features of African cultures is our closeness to our grandparents. This Covid-19 has changed that relationship. Not out of selfishness like in others cultures that abandoned their grandparents to nursing home or in Florida. If we cannot touch or go near them for their own safety, buy them a phone, radio, tv and visit looking through a glass or in protective gear. It is a lonely time for grand Mac and pa. |
Odeson, real story as a personal witness. The girl is just too attractive. My cousin accused her of looking for a man, not work. So why hire her? SultanOfPuna: |
My cousin hired this hard working Househelp that was very nice to everybody. She is the type anyone would love to have around. So what was her crime for my cousin to beat the heck out of her? Too good. She takes good care of her children and husband. What do you want sir? You want a drink sir? You want water or juice sir? When my cousin was not at home, she took good care of the children and the husband very well. What do you want to eat sir? Do you want plain stew or mix vegetables sir? Rice, eba or pounded yam (not powder flour) sir? I will like to have her around in my house O! |
Thank you OP for this thread. Apart from a few uncivil distractions, it's been very interesting. Thanks to Erediauwa too for the soccer analogy. Madam, it has nothing to do with the mother or women. There is something about men when they start thinking with their dick. Many people blame the girlfriend or the wife. Men can love you to death and "something" might still catch their fancy. You cannot put a finger on it. Be it the way the lady smiles, walk or say good morning sir. bigtt76:The good part, it means the man is healthy ![]() |
One country? Many countries. Do Google search. Even if you are right, I thought all Americans are millionaires and billionaires. If you are looking for a country of law and order, go find out about Operation WAI. Better still korokoro in China or Russia. If you are looking for chaos, go find out about New York Blackout of 1977! DexterousOne: |
See dis man wan put me inside hot wata. AreaFada2: |
AreaFada2:Look, we do not give women enough respect. A woman would be that open? Accept that they are way smarter than us. If they fff someone close to you, would you know? |
hurryup123:Heaven helps those who help themselves. Reasonable people plan ahead, mumu pray ahead. Even people that do not have her money, have talents to plan for the worst scenerio. |
This guy may be smarter than we think by just creating some fabu story. Whatever the case, two matured people can be talking in front of a kid to obscure the message. He wants to take his dad's zipper to a street tailor. When his dad asked the lady to fix his zipper, can anyone think of a better opening to a man's heart? |
Here is a picture showing evidence that 80% of almighty Americans live from one paycheck to another. Hunger not only on the streets by the homeless but by middle and lower class Americans going to the soup kitchen or lining up for free food because they cannot afford to buy. Nigerians say: look at discipline! 70% of the deaths from COVID-19 are Africans and minorities. Nigerians say: see free healthcare! I taya for una. |
Chei OP! Make lielie no kill you O. Dis na America? America wey everybody be millionaire and billionaire. |
Don't you think Yoruba get tired of your assault on Awo? What did he do wrong? Gave Igbo 20 pounds as if they were the only ones that suffered during the war. Do not forget that at that point and time, he was accused of bribing Igbo to vote for him. The 20 pounds could pay rent for 5 months in Lagos. Actually more months outside Lagos island. In Surulere rent was two pounds ten. Oh, Awo started tribalism in Nigeria. What a lie! Before Awo formed Yoruba group, Igbo, Hausa and even Ibibio had groups in existence. Awo did not allow Zik to rule Yoruba. No wonder Yoruba Youth ask what their parents were smoking. A man who said Igbo was ordained by God to rule the world. Ask the American Indians if they have to do it all over again, if they would rescue Columbus from the Sea waves. The same Awo that gave Zip Executive PM on a silver platter. The same Awo that defied Akintola and others to campaign in the East with Igbo as his Vice and almost lost his life in very hostile crowd. The same Awo that that asked for a clause to opt out of Nigeria and Zik rejected. The same Zik that advised Aguiyi Ironsi to turn Nigeria into Unitary Government. BTW, how many Yoruba defend Yoruba crooks or how many Yoruba go to the East or outside Nigeria to beat their chests? Abegi Yemefe! SciLab: |
SciLab, If you want to go back to pre-internet, Yoruba tolerance and accommodation still hold. Which you have now tagged bad words. Igbo will always be part of me, I do not know and will not know how to be otherwise even if Biafran is gone. Nigeria as a Country was started by Herbert Macauley, Akinsanya and Bode Thomas, Earnest Ikoli, Azikiwe, Awolowo were his followers. Educate us please if you can in the history of Africa when you were ahead of Yoruba. Every and any Igbo that ever made it from those times made it from Yoruba land. Why are you tormenting you mentors, abusing them, ask them to turn the other check while their children applaud you? Please stop, it is provoking. Look at what you have turned yourselves into. What have you gained except disdain inside and outside Africa. I still longed for the days Igbo had respect all over Yoruba land. If you are old enough, tell your children to stop. They will be repulsed with everything they throw and lose. |
Once a Nigerian, always a Nigerian. It takes less than deadly Covid-19 to realize that. You cannot tell the guy not to come home. My problem is the amount of Niara it takes to live overseas. Most of these guys have no source of income there. They have never had Gburu or any job there, yet they live "comfortably" than guys working there. I tell you, there is more to money. All that glitters is not gold, not even Amala and Ewedu! |
Why single out Nairaland? Mention one Nigeria social media where Yoruba and Igbo do not go after one another. From Nigeriaworld, Biafrianigeriaworld to Nigeriavillagesquare and many others including foreign media. Yoruba Moderators have killed their media by trying to be fair to Igbo at the expense of Yoruba, just to be accommodating as usual. Indeed, after being warned of the unfairness in order to retain Igbo members, they lost their sites. These same sites were invaded by virus from the same Igbo members they were trying to accommodate. Never once was any Igbo banned on Biafranigeriaworld where they spit all kinds of insults on Yoruba. Look, many Yoruba do not like insults on Igbo BUT after many years of tolerance and accommodation, you cannot hold or blame Yoruba Youths from fighting back. Something their parents did not do. We can all get along if we respect one another. Nobody has exclusive right or monopoly on insults especially against your hosts on their land. Try that in Europe, Americas or even South Africa. Personally, even if Nigeria breaks, I usually feel comfortable with Igbo anywhere. This new vitriol does not help, I must say. |
