What gospel do you preach to the poor?

Poor in what sense? Abi you wan pretend not to know how scripture use the word poor? If he was anointed to preach the gospel to the poor, doesn't that explain the the context of poor as regards preaching to them or you see Jesus dashing money to the poor ni?

N.B: I'm not promoting poverty but don't be reading your own meaning into scriptures, let them speak for themselves in context except you doing word study and meaning.

So, understanding all these if we put every piece together as we’ve opened this verse up, what is this verse saying?

The Apostle by the revelation of Christ is saying,

For it is by GRACE [God’s unmerited, undeserved favour in the finished works of Christ\through the death, burial and resurrection of Christ] you have been SAVED [that is, given eternal life, delivered, preserved, redeemed, sanctified, justified blessed, made whole\righteous and restored] through FAITH [believing in what is already done through the finished works of Christ], and this not from yourselves [not from your efforts, credits, striving, achievements]; it is the gift of God,

As we unveil this scripture and with this understanding, we need to address many issues in the body of Christ where Christians are still using their faith trying to get God to do what he’s already done instead of using their faith to receive what is already done and available to them as their inheritance in Christ Jesus. Listen friends, God is never going to do anything for you no more because he’s already done everything for you in the all-inclusive salvation package.

God, by Grace had made all things available for you in the all-inclusive salvation package but it is assessable (when you come to God) through faith believing in what is done in the all-inclusive finished works of Christ. You have to believe in a strong conviction in the finished works of Christ that all things are available for your life and godliness by God’s Grace.

…and this not from yourselves…

The Grace of God that brings salvation rules out works from man, you can’t take credit where the grace of God is concerned. It is void of human efforts, striving and boasting for achievement. You see, the old covenant is all based on works, human efforts, boasting, credits from man and human efforts towards God but in the new covenant, God is the all-inclusive Grace of God. Romans 11:6

…it is the gift of God.

Glory to God! Grace is finally defined and declared the gift of God! When someone gives you a gift, all you have to do is receive it, appreciate and say, thank you! If such is a valuable and precious gift, we cherish and adore it. This is our response to God’s grace!

The word saved here in the Greek is the word sōzō, a verb here and it means:

to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction

one (from injury or peril)

to save a suffering one (from perishing), i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health

to preserve one who is in danger of destruction, to save or rescue

to save in the technical biblical sense

negatively, to deliver from the penalties of the Messianic judgment

to save from the evils which obstruct the reception of the Messianic deliverance

it is used as a feminine noun (sōtēria - salvation) in Romans 1:16 to mean:

deliverance, preservation, safety, salvation

deliverance from the molestation of enemies

in an ethical sense, that which concludes to the soul's safety or salvation

of Messianic salvation

salvation as the present possession of all true Christians

future salvation, the sum of benefits and blessings which the Christians, redeemed from all earthly ills, will enjoy after the visible return of Christ from heaven in the consummated and eternal kingdom of God.

For it is by grace…

It says, you have been saved by Grace. First, notice this is a done deal, it is already done and past tense except you are yet to be save. We can then take care of that. So, what are we saved by? Grace! What is this Grace?

Most people define Grace as God’s unmerited and\or undeserved favour. That is, you get from God what you don’t deserve perhaps as a sinner.

The above definition is right and correct according to scripture but Grace is more than just God’s unmerited and undeserved favour.

Grace is everything (pertaining to life & godliness) that God had done for you and made available for you in the finished works of Christ. Grace is everything God had accomplished, done and made available for you through the death, burial & resurrection (DBR) of Christ in the all-inclusive finished works of Christ.

The word Grace is the greek word charis and it means,

that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness: grace of speech

good will, loving-kindness, favour

of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues

what is due to grace

the spiritual condition of one governed by the power of divine grace

the token or proof of grace, benefit

a gift of grace

benefit, bounty

thanks, (for benefits, services, favours), recompense, reward

Thank you for that beautiful distinction we can all see that Catholicism and Christianity are two parallel beliefs.

Jesus accepted sinners to save them from their sins first before adding them to his church.

This is the biblical pattern : We go out to preach to sinners in love> God grants them repentance from their sins and salvation through Christ Jesus > Next, they are added to the church.

Today we have turned everything around! We bring sinners in their state of unrepentance into the church, declare them as new members! and we assume they will turn to God properly afterwards! Red flag!

Today we see the consequences of our wicked actions and disobedience to the word of God. The church...the modern church is a mess.

@op I want to ask you because of your last sentence......to be called by God means that you have bben choosing for a special assignment for God, the scripture is full of men and women who were called by God, number one. God calls us into a fellowship / relationship with him, this is the first call of salvation, mathew 11 vs 28. Secondly God can call u into the ministry, we have 5 fold ministry in the bible, God can call you to be an apostle, prophet, pastor, evangelist or teacher. Some are called from the womb like jeremiah 1vs 9, while some others where called later in their life, bow how do you know that God is calling you, first, through the leading of his Holy spirit, he will give you passion for the area he is calling you to work, you can be called into the ministry of praying (intercession) giving( help) government or to be a preacher, God can call you through dreams and revelation, he can call you by using somebody to tell you even when you are not aware but you will know and get confirmation within you. I hope this help.

God doesn't deal with us in the new covenant like he did in the old. Please get your facts right. He doesn't call into 5 fold ministry but give gifts into 5 fold ministry. He has already called EVERY BELIEVER BUT He gave gifts to me, some Apostles, some prophet etc. When you study scriptures, study with word meaning and context using scriptures to interpret scriptures.

I hope you are not trying to get called by force and by fire? There's no special calling in the new covenant, just that you are given a place of assignment. Every believer is called but gifted in different areas for the body of Christ.

All of those subjects you mentioned are taught differently to Christians in the new covenant in the light or revelation of the finished work of Christ....not as compliment or continuation to the old covenant.
