Get some facts, the reason for this thread is to enlighten us all, in clinical training of doctors PhD is not required, in fellowship they do research and write dissertation, fellowship combines what PhD does and add clinical practical experience which the doctor needs to treat patients.

Yes doctors in residency write thesis as a minimum requirements to be awarded a fellowship try and Google it.
Nigeria law that established the national postgraduate medical college equated it to a postgraduate medical university responsible for postgraduate training of specialist medical doctors.

To become a fellow you must have done work that is rich and adds to scientific knowledge, most of you arguing do not really understand how medicine is structured

Cos one half of the doctors we have are already into teaching.
They fail to understand that teaching in medical school especially after 300 level is more of what the students see.
So far av not come across inefficient teaching methods from any doctor, cos in medical school, even if a doctor's style of teaching is archaic or something, u have more than 2 doctors teaching u that course.

Nigerians are the worst illiterate, that the people who claim to be informed in this forum don't know the difference between clinical sciences and basic medical sciences is a shame, in my time in medical school you can't compare the knowledge of consultant to that of even PhD or professor in basic medical sciences.

Doctors in basic medical sciences need PhD to lecture that has been the culture ever since but those in clinical sciences all over the world do not need a PhD to lecture clinical medicine

Maybe NUC actually goofed by allowing them lecture and become Professors without PhD in the past but it seems they realized their error.

The consultants want to continue becoming Professors without PhD. I laugh! Do they actually know the rigors of becoming a PhD holder?
They are not bigger than NUC that regulates them so if NUC says they cant become Professors without PhD then they should either join their colleagues who go on to acquire PhD or get out.

You are wrong, in medicine there two career paths for lecturers those who chose basic medical sciences and those who choose clinical sciences, those in basic medical sciences they sure must have PhD and no one is contesting that but for those in clinical sciences they don't need a PhD because they undergo a different pattern of postgraduate training which is called residency for which after a minimum of 6 years if you pass all your exams as when due you become a fellow, now before this issue fellowship is what you need to teach in clinical sciences, you can Google that even you developed countries also fellowship is higher than PhD, while PhD is just purely academic, fellowship is a combination of both academic and clinical (hospital) based experience, now asking someone who has done residency for like 6-10 years that is now a professor to go back and do PhD doesn't make sense, it's just a way to spite the doctors so we can give them a bad name.

I and Oma have dated for more than 2yrs, I intend getting married to her. When we started dating she told me from onset her genotype is AS. I taught I was AA because I did the test when I was like 10yrs.

We decided to go for HIV test just to be sure even though we had unprotected sex. On doing the HIV test, the attendance whom we didn't ask, checked our genotype, performed all the test because she taught we were couple and since it's an Anglican Church hospital and we came together, it means we are planning to get married.

The result came out HIV negative for both of us, blood group O+, while she's AB and genotype we were both AS. She insist we call it off, 2yrs courtship just like that.

Oma is a nicest person I have ever known after my mom, she takes care of me, I eat healthy, I don't repeat clothes both inner and outer wears. She makes sure I work out regularly, I don't do house chores yet my friends envy me whenever they come visiting.

Name any good thing Oma has it. Now Oma has moved on but I can't, I kept on looking for a lady like Oma, now I understand why most men talk trash about Nigerian women (no offense) and when I meet a lady the first thing I ask is her genotype.

1. LECTURERS FROM FACULTY OF LAW HAVE TO PRACTICE LAW FULL TIME OR THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO TEACH TO THE BEST STANDARD.

2. LECTURERS FROM MEDICAL FACULTIES HAVE TO PRACTICE MEDICINE FULL TIME FOR THEM TO TEACH MEDICAL STUDENTS.

3. THIS APPLIES TO PHARMACY AS WELL

4. IF ENGINEERING WAS A "PRACTICAL" COURSE IN NIGERIA, IT WOULD BE UNDER SAME CATEGORIES.

RULE WILL WORK ON ALL THOSE SOCIOLOGY LECTURERS.

It can work perfectly, what happen is your both salary becomes unified and go into your account once.

The commonest cause of kidney failure around us is uncontrolled hypertension and diabetes, over the counter pain killers and the rest of it, last las just try and drink a lot of water and pray, have seen someone whose kidney shut down after just sore throat
