It's not the failure of the parties, it's the failure of individuals. The earlier everyone starts pointing at the bad eggs regardless of party affiliation, the better for the country.

Parties can never lead, individuals do hence the need to have the right people at the helm of affairs in every level of governance, and not just vote party. When it goes wrong criticise, investigate and kick that individual out collectively if need be and stop the blind followership. This attitude of "everybody is a saint as long as they are in my party" need to stop.

In party democracy, the party is an institution, it's more than a vehicle for individuals, we must define and design our system to have good checks

Speculation is part of forex or any business in the world

Was there not speculators under PDP?
Was there not speculators when naira was stable?

The issue is not speculators the issue is this

Because of the rush to say we floated the naira.. Tinubu floated and unstable currency causing panic, people like me who don't need dollars in the near futures started demanding for dollars, which caused more instability

You guys don't even know the cause of the problem... There is no faith on the naira that's the fundamental issue

Tinubu government doesn't inspire faith at all
You said the whole truth.

Naira has lost the core value of money which is a store of value.

I can bet if the government just spread a speculation that they are pegging naira to 1kbto a dollar you would see the pressure reducing because if it continues like this, every single Nigerians would be moving their little savings out of naira and this will continue to make it crash.
Politics / Re: Elder Statesman, Aminu Dantata Backs Transition To Parliamentary System by Gr8amechi: 5:24pm On Feb 15

A parliamentary system without direct election of the prime Minister is not good...
A parliamentary system that will need parties and coalition to form government will pave way for instability, we cannot afford to continue running elections due to cost...
We tweak the parliamentary system to enable the prime Minister to be voted directly by the masses and would not need party or coalition to form government...he would just select ministers and focus on governance..
Parliamentary system biggest advantage is that u can not have a dullard as prime Minister...unlike the presidential system where the president can easily hide

There is no way the PM is to be directly voted, the PM is part of the parliament and his tenure should not be fixed, imagine if we are in a Parliamentary systems by now Tinubu would have been passed vote or no confidence and the president would have called for a fresh election

I have proposed this style based on our heterogeneous nature.

Let's have a Parliamentary systems with

1. President as the head of state and holds ceremonial powers but act as a nonpartisan symbol of unity.
The position shall be rotational and he shall be the commander in chief of the armed forces meaning the armed forces are under him, external security are under him and in time of war a war cabinet is formed which he leads.

2. The PM will be the head of government and if his policies are anti masses with a massive protest the president would order him to step down.
The PM will be responsible for internal security, federal police and national guards and forest guard which shall act as military arms but for only donestic matters and are the first reserves for external aggression.
Politics / Re: 60 Reps Seek Change From Presidential To Parliamentary System by Gr8amechi: 6:54am On Feb 15
malali:

Parliamentary System

Pros:
1.Unity and Consensus: In a parliamentary system, the executive (the Prime Minister) is usually a member of the majority party in the parliament. This means that the government's agenda is more likely to align with the views of the majority of lawmakers, leading to smoother decision-making and greater unity.
2.Flexibility: If the Prime Minister loses the support of the parliament, they can be removed through a vote of no confidence, leading to a new government without the need for a full election. This allows for quicker responses to changing circumstances or public sentiment.
3.Accountability: The Prime Minister and cabinet ministers are directly accountable to the parliament, which means they must regularly answer questions and defend their actions. This helps ensure that government officials are held accountable for their decisions and actions.

Cons:
1.Instability:Since the government's survival depends on maintaining the support of the parliament, frequent changes in government can occur if there is political instability or shifting alliances among political parties. This can lead to uncertainty and inconsistency in governance.
2. Dominance of Political Parties: In a parliamentary system, political parties have a lot of power, and smaller parties may struggle to have their voices heard. This could potentially lead to the interests of minority groups being overlooked.
3. Less Direct Representation:In some parliamentary systems, voters do not directly elect the Prime Minister, but rather vote for a political party. This means that the leader of the country may not necessarily reflect the preferences of all voters.

Presidential System

Pros:
1.Stability: The president serves a fixed term and cannot be easily removed from office outside of impeachment proceedings, providing more stability and continuity in leadership.
2.Direct Representation:In a presidential system, voters directly elect the president, which means that the leader of the country is directly accountable to the people.
3.Separation of Powers:The presidential system typically separates the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government, which can help prevent any one branch from becoming too powerful.

Cons:
1. Gridlock:In a presidential system, if the president's party does not have a majority in the legislature, it can lead to gridlock and difficulty passing legislation, as the president and the legislature may have conflicting priorities.
2. Less Flexibility: Unlike in a parliamentary system, where the government can be easily replaced, removing a president from office outside of scheduled elections can be a lengthy and complex process, which may make it harder to address urgent issues.
3.Less Accountability:Since the president is not directly accountable to the legislature, there may be fewer mechanisms in place to hold them accountable for their actions, potentially leading to abuses of power.

I have an excellent suggestion to solve these cons on Parliamentary.

Simple we can elect our president by majority votes and then allow the president act as the symbol of the unity of the country.

I still strongly believe a modified Parliamentary systems is best for us where the president is rotated by the constitution and the president have power over service chiefs and external security but the PM control economy and internal security.

It's what you do before, during and after, knowing the ripple effect of those policies that should distinguish you from the monkey.
Tinubu has not proved he has a brain better than that of an ordinary monkey,if at all he has anything in it.
You are spot on, i have said since that we should have defended the naira, removed subsidy and then invest massively in agriculture to boost self sufficiency before the full float.

Your thoughts?
Almost everything here is rubbish.
How long are we going to continue to amend this act?
The first thing we ought to do is a forensic review of the last election and the loopholes of the court judgment before any amendments should be considered, that said these are my recommendations.

1. Continous voters register must be maintained and more stringent using NIN, this will eliminate double registration, INEC should review their registers every 5 years to remove diseased people.

2. Harmonise off-cycle elections, and make legislature elections come first. Both state and national assembly elections should be held same day, while executives both president and governorship be held on the same day.

3. Make electronic transmission and collation of results mandatory and failure to do that at the polling unit makes the results null and void also the INEC staff is subject to at least 20 years in prison without an option of fine. The problem we have in our election isn't transmission but the collation of results, most collation of results at the ward and LGA level is where the whole corruption happens, so eliminate manual collation of results at ward and LGA levels and allow only live collation at state levels.

4. There should be no preelection matter litigations after elections, all preelection issues must be resolved before the conduct of the election and the only thing to be litigated after an election should be about the results of the election not about anything relating to preelection or candidacy as all these must be concluded before the election.

However, the best way forward for Nigeria is a new constitution.

It's clear to everyone that the presidential system of government is not working and its too expensive for us, a parliamentary system is best suited for a heterogenous group like us, so I propose strongly and end to this system and immediately adopt a presidential-parliamentary system where the president will be none partisan and elected as an independent candidate and holds ceremonial powers as the symbol of national unity and has the responsibility to dissolve the parliament in event of massive suffering like we are witnessing now.

A couple of days back, my wife put to bed using CS. Initially we had a baby before, I a know how complicated and painful the pregnancy and childbirth was.

Now I was in the theatre during the CS and I saw first hand how someone's abdomen was sliced open and the baby pulled out. I also saw how doctors were putting their hands into someone's abdomen and how they finally stitched her up. It wasn't an easy sight to behold. Right now, she's recovering, but the pain she's passing through is much.

To me, this is the highest form of sacrifice that someone can give for the family.

So to the men and husband out there..... before you ask your wife to be "what she is bringing to table", kindly think about the sacrifice they make in bringing your children to the world.

So you that took care of the hospital bill, bore all the responsibility, is that a sacrifice or not?

Do you actually know you can pay a surrogate to carry your child?

If a woman thinks this way, it is really sad.

Women should be assest to both their husband and a glory for their kids.

How can you expect judges to learn on the job!
The fact remains that the recruitment process of Judge s into the appeal court and Supreme Court should be without the interference of the Executive Arm of Government.

I think it's high time the Office of the Attorney General and The Minister of Justice should be separated, while the former should be entirely left to the National Judicial Council, the latter should be left to the crooked Politician with recommendation from the National Judicial Council whose membership should be by election from the National Bar Association.

I have held this opinion and this is obtainable in the USA, the attorney general is independent.

But how can he be independent if he is appointed?

I strongly suggest the ministry of justice to be under the AGF and the police force and Efcc should report to him, he should be the chief prosecutor of the federation and should be elected independent of the president of the federation

The part of the judgement was written out in favor of the other individual. It is too big a mistake to be called an error in an official document from the courts.
Beyond politics that error or insertion should be investigated and the culprit brought to book.
Civil servants getaway with too many things, if it was the private sector, a query, demotion or outright sack would be the fate of such an individual.
This has been my thought line, Nigerians are not even worried about the gravity of this, imagine someone doctoring this document, imagine doing this to an international MOU

Health / Re: Brushing Before Or After Eating In The Morning. Which Is Best Practice? by Gr8amechi: 10:40am On Nov 21, 2023
osasere06:
I have often wondered the correct thing to do as regards this issue.

Ordinarily I was brought up in a home where my mother made it compulsory for us to brush before eating in the morning and of course before going to bed.

Going forwards during my undergraduate days, I was again indoctrinated with the idea that brushing after breakfast keeps one mouth cleaner and free from debris throughout the day.

Recently, my girlfriend sees this as a dirty behaviour and has frowned at it severally. Please whats the way forward on this issue?

Kindly help
Your girlfriend is so ignorant and just like many Nigerians always jumps into an ideology without understanding the factual reasons why they were made medically.

Medically brushing your teeth is the last thing you should do at night before going to bed, meaning you brush after dinner when you wake up all you need is just a glass of water to drink or just rinse your mouth with and then eat first and brush your teeth 30 to 60 minutes after eating.

This isn't about what anyone thinks, it's about medical recommendation, you brush your teeth at least 30 minutes after eating at night or in the morning, also its advisable not to rinse your mouth with water after brushing at night, this keeps your breathe fresh in the morning and most importantly reduce the bacterial growth over the night.

So going forward ensure you brush twice daily, at night after dinner and in the morning after breakfast.

Are there anything on your list here that a husband can show to his wife too, or it is forbidden for men to express these qualities as you've described with their wives?

Should a husband not be peaceful? Should he not be understanding? Should he not show support for his wife and deal with her with great understanding? I you think these things are okay for men to imbibe, why are you calling it submission for women?
I think you kinda mixing things up.

The points you raised are valid and definitely any man who loves you would be understanding because the basis of love is understanding, however, the topic of submissive is about direction, having the lead, and also the direction of the flow of authority.

Africa is so backward currently because we want to copy everything white, compared with the Asians, everyone understands their God-given role and duties by virtue of their birth.

When an order is distorted what's left is chaos, the family unit must have order, now this is not a pass for men who are irresponsible to take advantage of.

For a home to work, there must be a mother and father role, the challenge we have currently is men are becoming too lazy to be men and women are choosing anything other than being women, worse off the west has so much brainwashed our generation for all women to think that their mothers were slaves to men and they should demand for more.

Shut up!

It's the height of negligence. You are operating on a human being, not a china phone. It makes ZERO sense to forget things INSIDE a person.

The OP is merely calling for PUNISHMENT that's equal to the crime.

If a Doctor leaves something inside a patient, his/her license should be retracted. Hospital should be penalised and the Doctor should be sued and convicted for the heinous crime.

They should NEVER be allowed to touch a scalpel ever again.

Go to a hospital and see how nonchalant the doctors and nurses are. It's SUPER disgusting.

The only sensible people in a Nigerian hospital are the laboratory workers. The rest are mad. ALL of them.

Those who Japa dare NOT misbehave when they do so. Else, jail time.

The problem of Nigerians is we always leave the principal issues and begin to chase shadows.

Yes if you don't know, doctor's are punished if they are found to have committed malpractices.

Doctors are even more aware now and everyone is taking cover.

The question is why do these type of things happen?

Why would a doctor even be operating in some of the 'Dustbin" we call operating rooms?

We are all quick to crucify the doctors because everyone hates the doctors here.

We all want the standard of care in developed world but we have all kept a blind eyes to the decay in health sector.

How would a doctor not forget things when he is made to overwork, work under terrible conditions.

Until you see doctors using phone touch to operate a patient in a government owned facility then you would understand the pressure doctors are faced daily.

Our healthcare system is grossly understaffed and grossly under paid.

Everyone is very fast to blame doctors and nurses until you are forced to take what they take.

How do you expect a nurse who is nursing a ward of over 50 patients to give in his or her best?

Almost every Nigerian wants to come to the hospital and vent their anger, this makes almost every health worker to be on the offensive.

The laboratory people you are praising why would they not be awesome when they sit under AC and take their time and do their things without pressure?

Go to teaching hospital and see how many times the junior doctors who are the house officers fight with laboratory guys just to secure blood for your relatives.

Some Nigerians are bunch of ungrateful bastards.

Address the root cause of this issues, address the principal cause.

If the hospital have better facilities, more staffs, reduced workload, better working environment and better pay, you can hold people fully responsible.

See go to teaching hospital and see doctors who are on call for one full week, how can you expect a doctor to be working 247 for a week or even days?

Do you even think that Person is mentally fit to truly give patients the best?

We have seen doctors who collapsed and die after series of surgeries in government owned hospital.

Truth is every single person who visit Nigerian hospital is just at the mercy of God, your whole health workers are overly worked that they barely have any time to even recharge so don't ever expect any best treatment.

Let's stop being smart by half.

Medical negligence and malpractice should be eradicated from Nigeria but you must provide enabling environment for proper medical practice.

Currently our healthcare ecosystem Forster's malpractice and suboptimal care.

I totally reject any plan for any constitutional amendment, what we need is a totally new constitution, it's obvious that the 1999 constitution can never work because it was drafted intentionally with so much ambiguity to aim corruption.

To solve this problem permanently this is the only way:

1. NASS should suspend the 1999 constitution and pass a law for a referendum to draft a new Nigerian People's constitution.
2. the 1963 constitution should be the template, it is clear that the presidential system will never work in our heterogenous state, so let's adopt a parliamentary system with a confederation.
There will no longer be a president, what we now have will be the following:
a. Chancellor, he will be the symbol of the unity of the confederation, he shall be the ceremonial head of state, and the position shall not be partisan as candidates should be only independent candidates and must not have heard any political position in at least 20 years before contesting, the tenure shall be for a single 15 years and the position shall be rotational, he shall retain the power to ask the prime minister for form a cabinet or dissolve it. The seat of the chancellor shall be Abuja.

b. The prime minister shall be the head of government who shall be elected from amongst the NASS members and shall sever a term as the duration of his term in the NASS, each term shall be 5 years but can be dissolved at any time in events of vote of no confidence or if he has lost the support of the majority of the house, also the prime minister shall double as the minister of defense.
The office of the prime minister also shall be in Abuja but the NASS should be in the south, this will keep the legislatures very far apart from the executives

c. Abolish states and replace them with provinces, and divide the country into 6 to 10 provinces with the consent of the people of such provinces.

d. Sign an article of union which shall be renewed every 30 to 50 years through a referendum of continuous union or dissolution.

e. create the office of the attorney general of the federation different and distinct from the minister of justice,
the prime minister should not appoint the AGN but it must be done as a job recruitment by the NJC which shall forward the names of the 3 best candidates from the screening to the NASS which shall then refer to the chancellor for rectification.

f. the Police, Burea of national investigation, and security shall be under the AGN office. Also, the INEC chairman should be appointed by the NJC through an open recruitment format.

g. a new electoral act and constitution shall then be written to give inec powers to screen candidates and also to remove candidates with any controversies from contesting.

Rubbish. The president doesn't 'appoint' the Chief Justice, but he controls him. The president doesn't 'appoint' the Senate President, but he controls him.

All these muke muke suggestions indicate either stupidity or mischief. None of these things would ever work.

We need to DISMANTLE the fucking constitution and start from the scratch. Either disintegrate the fucking country or at the very least, restructure it into a confederal/regional arrangement where the heads of each region are stronger than the so-called president. Let every region have their own INEC, their own CBN, their own police, their own EFCC, and so forth. That way, ojoro cancel. Enough of tribalistic Presidents making their ethnic group feel special.
You made some solid points but I would love to modify it a bit.

How about we reconfigure this country this way

1. First pass a bill to suspend the constitution and give room for "people's constitution"

2. Scrap states and divide the country into 6 to 10 federating units called provinces.
Each province will have their own police, their own laws and their own rules, for you to move from one province to another you would require a permit to do so.
Each province will be administered by a primier or provincial governor or which ever name we call them.
Each province will have their own independent police structure, but this police doesn't use automatic fire rifles only shot gun and Barton's,
Their police structure will be made up purely of agents or detectives but no province will be allowed to have a SWAT team.
Each province will be able to fix their own minimum wages, manage all their schools and the FG will hands off completely on schools.
The fg will only have 6 to 10 federal universities with one in each province.

3. Scrap the position of the president and replace it with a name like Chancellor or any other nice ceremonial name, now the chancellor or which ever name we give it will be the symbol of the unity of the confederation.
The Chancellor shall be elected by a popular vote to serve a single term of 12 years, and he will be none partisan and also to qualify to be a chancellor, you must have serve in active service to the country a minimum of 20 years, and you must not have held any political appointment or had any political affiliations at least 15 years before election.

Candidates vying for this position will do so as independent candidates.

4. Each province will have not more than 20 representative, which will be a total of not more than 200 representative.
Now these representative will be referred as members of parliament and from amongst them a prime minister would be elected whose duty is to the act as the CEO of the country while the chancellor acts as the chairman of the board of the country.

In the event of massive uprising or a revolt against government policies, the chancellor is duty bound to dissolve the parliament and conduct a fresh election.

5. The INEC chairman, the attorney general of the federation, the cjn will not be appointment of the president.
a. The Attorney general of the federation will be contested by very senior and prominent legal experts and the body who would over see this is the NJC,
b. The attorney general would be required by law to fill the vacancy of the INEC chairman if vacant by first putting out advert for the position and clearly writing the NASS to begin screening of candidates whose scores and criterion of appointment will be made public.
c. The cjn shall be appointed based on hierarchy as it is currently.

6. There will be a nation council which shall be made up of the chancellor, with the cjn, the attorney general, the INEC chairman and representative from all professional organisations which shall be meet three times yearly to access the performance of the government and give recommendations to the chancellor who either passes a vote of confidence or vote of no confidence.

7. There will be no more federal allocation rather all province's must manage their resources and pay 30 to 50% of all revenue as royalty to the federal government which it uses to maintain the currency, manage the Military and defense.

The federal government will focus clearly on foreign policies and the prime minister will automatically be the minister of defense, while the deputy prime minister will also coordinate the ministry of internal affairs.

So much more but basically, we must jettisoned this 1999 unitary dictatorship document and produce a people's constitution.

Please let's join hands and begin to push for this
Health / Re: Why Are Medical Doctors' Handwriting So Difficult To Read?(photo) by Gr8amechi: 2:00pm On Oct 17, 2023
Enemyofpeace:
Can you read this handwriting? Does anyone understand what is written on the prescription form? Do they write like this deliberately so patients not to understand what they wrote?
When you see over 100 patients writing notes for them you would understand why the writing is this way.
Doctors in Nigeria are over-worked, overstretched, and grossly under paid and underundervalued

Why is Nigerian police one of the most useless?
Are they not assumed innocent until proven otherwise by a compentent court?
Why not charge them to court and get maximum sentense?
This rather looks very staged, they do this and the whole masses remove their minds from this case and later they set these girls free.
Police should stop parading suspect and stop media trial, charge to court, after securing sentencing you can come to media if at all.
I didn't see the police parading the killer cop that was recently sentenced to death.

You would have been in their shoes if the earlier plan to relocate Jews to Africa succeeded.
All those are propaganda.

The Jews rejected any plans to relocate them anywhere else but their ancestral land.

Jews are not part of Africa but part of middle east

Romance / Re: I Look So Older Than My Age! Will I Ever Get A Man To Marry Me? by Gr8amechi: 10:33pm On Sep 27, 2023
HanisahZuwy:
I don't know if I'll ever get a man to marry me. I look so older than my age. I'm in my twenties, but I look like a 53 years old woman. Even men
and women old enough to be my father and mother will be referring to me as ma. Some of them are even people who are older than me with 30-35 years. Most people doubt me when they ask for my age and I tell them. They feel I'm lying about my age. I feel I'm more than the age I tell them. I know some people look older than their age, but I don't think any could be worse than mine. Mine is that bad!

I don't know why this is so. I don't know why I look so older than my age.Why is it like that? Is there any one here in this kind of situation? How does that make you feel? Please, what can I do to remedy this? Is there anyone here like that? Or am I alone? What do you normally do to help yourself in this situation? I would like to hear from you if you're in this.
There are several reasons, but first I would advise you become active, register in a gym and become fully committed, change your life style and everything about you, if it's not genetic, there is chance you can slow it down or reverse it, there are other things we could speak more on
Politics / Re: Why Do Africans Always Blame Slavery And Colonialism For Their Suffering? by Gr8amechi: 1:20pm On Sep 08, 2023
flokii:
The colonialists dealt a big blow on the psyche of Black Africans in a way that can't be explained.. forget the cosmetic independence we're celebrating in Africa, the Europeans are still very much in control of our resources and leaders.

Look at Nigeria for example.. whosoever wants to contest for President will go to Chattam house to give speech for the slavemasters to vet and scrutinize.. how do you expect Nigeria to progress under such arrangement?

The younger generations that should be thinking of how to take back and rescue Africa are busy thinking of 'JAPA'.. when they eventually Japa, they'll end up with boredom, loneliness and depression in the foreign lands when it dawns on them they aren't valued or needed there.
You guys believe all lies sold to you.

Please show me where Obasanjo went to chattam house in 1999 or 2003 or where Yaradua went there.

Our problem is our mentality and aproach to issues, yes the colonial masters share a big blame but shame on africa if we are gonna continue crying, if we dont have the balls to truly declare our independence and fiht for it. Shame on us.

The imperialist does everything for their best interest, who suspended our brains to think beyond tribes and religion?

Until you begin to learn to take responsibilities, true liberation is far.

The people are happy but some useless and unfortunate leaders of regional blocks like ECOWAS and AU will kick against this coup.

The people of the black race have awoken, just like the Arab Spring of almost a decade ago. More military takeover is expected... The last ignoble, infamous election in Nigeria 🇳🇬 that witnessed a 'coup de democracy' gave the impetus and rise for all these military takeover.

Many other countries and even Nigerians are watching the Tribunal, and the verdict could finally nail the coffin ⚰ of democracy in Africa.

#AllEyesOntheJudiciary!
Africans stop playing, Arab Spring was a people driven revolution not a military take over.

Just watch in a few years what evil he will do.

Africans must understand, revolution must be people driven to have a true change.

Amongst all the military Coup why has none of them come up with a true people's constitution that addresses all the challenges?
