stillwater: Say what? You have no idea what you are missing. A well made vio vio is light years ahead of jolof rice and beans, beans and yam, mamaput rice and beans with stew, ''kanda'' and fried plantain. The only thing that comes close is "Abacha ncha" with "azu mangala" and "afufa" or akpu(Santana) and onugbu soup with azu mangala, snails, okporoko and goat meat. |

@Arysexy, I know all the nooks and crannies of Awka, because I was there from 1989-2000 (Amachalla Amenyi) Pretty close to Aziza's store, Nkwo Market and "Obu Imo Awka". Awka people call me "Nwa Ekwulobia" |

Aloy+Emeka: Nope, Awka people do not eat monkeys 'cause they are protected species. It is illegal to kill a monkey in Awka. They roam freely like squirrels in New York, especially in the Amudo/Amachalla area where the sacred Imo Awka shrine is located. If anyone ate monkeys in Awka (on the down low) it must be those ''404" munchers from Nsukka, Imo/Abia and Akwa Ibom. . . Heck, I cringe when I hear people actually eat monkey. To me they are cute adorable pets(sometimes a little mischievous) and it was fun observing them at close range when I lived in Awka. |

I sincerely hope this is not a witch hunt established by Jonathan to stifle the opposition/rivals. First they "nabbed" two suspects "Chuks Nzuzuma" and "Ben Johnson", now they "nabbed" another "mastermind" Dokpesi. Very dubious moves if you ask me. |

ndu_chucks: Lol. . . it has nothing to do with vio vio. It is actually as soft as beans or rice when it cooked but it takes forever (like 5 hrs. or more). Some Igbo people do eat without drinking water, that is why they sh.i.t rocks and you can smash windows with their poop. They have so many fancy names like "gbajie mkpilisi nku" (break firewood). 1 Like |

Arysexy: Vio vio a.k.a agbugbu That stuff is like cooking rocks and limestone. Takes forever but tastes good when prepared with "ji ocha'' (white yam) and fresh palm oil. There's this stereotype that Awka people are a bunch of hooligans and no-good lose canons. That's unfounded, like like any other stereotype because I lived in Awka for about 11 yrs. The monkeys in Awka are a sight to behold and I must say they are very cute and interesting creatures. It was fun watching them swing and jump all over the place, same way the squirrels roam Jew York. I do hope people have not started making pepper soup with the monkeys because I will not take it lightly The worst time to be in Awka is during the Imo Awka festival. That is when all the despicable hooligans and dubious characters in Awka (like that ugly coconut head "Owa Ashi" or "Nwa Guy" come out to harass people. 1 Like 1 Share |

I thought Mbadinuju was the worst thing that happened to South East, now this Ohakim goon makes Mbadinuju look like Saint Thomas. What a shame. I understand the frustration of those who can not stomach the idea of the Mega Demon, Ibrahim Babangida nursing the ambition of coming back after flushing us down the crapper, but everyone is not going to vote for Jonathan, some Nigerians need to let this sink into their skulls. If we MUST embrace democracy, we do not have the luxury of scraping off the warts. |

@cap28, your conspiracy theories are out of this world. . . wow . There is always some devious western puppet master yanking the strings to decide the fate of Africa. I'd like you to introduce me to these oyibo men with supernatural powers that will make God look like a hapless Sunday school teacher. I am surprised a lot of people did not decipher the puzzle the moment OBJ forced a corpse down our throats. At the moment, I agree that Jonathan is not the best Nigeria has to offer, but with useless and shameless malicious goons like IBB, Gusau, Buhari, Atiku etc in the pipeline, Jonathan remains the blind man in the land of headless men. He will trounce all the useless recycled goons in a free and fair election and they know it. The numerous desperate campaign strategies, cheap blackmails and empty threats are a dead giveaway. To the internet warriors and armchair/drive by analysts, let me give you a dose of reality check. For any of the present goons to wrestle SE and SS out of Jonathan, they may have to consult Amadioha, Egbesu, Jesus and Mohammad because the situation on the ground is not looking good for them. In a nutshell, if Jonathan gets PDP nod, it is a done deal, whether the presidential election is free or foul. The opposition has nothing to offer at the moment and is too fragmented to have any tangible impact. |
Politics / Re: Can The North Secede? by grafikdon: 5:58pm On Sep 22, 2010 |
Funny how a lot of people throwing jabs at the North, begging them to join their "brothers" in Chad are the same people who will unleash the deadliest volley of ethnic antagonism whenever they see "Biafra" and "Igbo" in a sentence, regardless of the context. Southerners are their own worst enemies. The sooner you realize the North is not exactly holding you back, the better. What we have down south are a bunch of treacherous cretins and delusional imbeciles who believe they are absolved from the tenacious grip of idiocy due to their educational qualifications. Imagine some southerners calling some of their fellow Nigerians "inferior", "backward", "uncultured" or **insert more derogatory terms** when the entire country from Bauchi to Lagos, from Bayelsa to Aba is a putrid massive pile of horse sh.i.t, with no electricity, sewage and water supply. We the "progressive" southerners shout "Hallllalluuuuyaaa", kills cows and throw ikwokirikwo parties when a Governor does a minute percentage of what he was elected to do, like building/maintaining roads, building modern toilet facilities in public schools, paying the civil servants their well deserved wages etc. . . Yep, blame it all on the "backward" Northerners. Blame the Northerners for farting in the living room while disregarding the 300 pounds of rancid Southern sh.i.t in the toilet, begging to be flushed. |

Art, Graphics & Video / Re: The Challenge Of Synergy by grafikdon: 7:33pm On Jul 18, 2010 |
The stunted growth of the Nigerian CGI industry is a result of the unavailability of dedicated animation, visual effects and game development studios. The moment some people with money (and foresight)wake up to realize the earning potential of a Nigerian CGI industry, the growth will spiral since the dedicated studios will separate the modelers, the animators, the TD and so on. this will lead to a more polished output because each artist will focus on his area of expertise. I will like to point out that collaboration without a platform, like a dedicated studio and financial remuneration (certain and not promised or imaginary financial reward) has a very huge chance of failure. I know a kick in the nuts or a punch in the face will be the least of worries for the person who will suggest I dedicate a big chunk of my time and skills on a project that ''promises'' financial reward at the end of the rope. Collaboration in an empty stomach doesn't work for me, so I wouldn't approach any CGI artist with such proposal. My goal has since shifted from collaboration to setting up a dedicated animation/vfx studio in Nigeria. That is the most efficient way IMHO to bring together CGI artists who will get paid to have fun, yes, to most of us, it is like fun and when we make a decent living doing it. . . it is impossible to describe the type of joy and fulfillment it brings . Those who want to do their own thing will still be there and honestly, it will only bring diversity to the industry (in terms of mode of operation). There is enough room in Nigeria for Specialists and Generalists (is that even a word ) The studios will attract dedicated CGI practitioners who will like to push the envelope through team work. We can sit here and thrash this topic but after we have plastered the pages with our turenchi , we will still have the big "SHOW ME THE MONEY" staring us in the face. I still have a lot to throw in but I'll stop for now. This is a very important thread and I wouldn't like to bore anyone with lengthy posts. @AdamuW, I forgot to give you guys the much deserved props. What you are doing is clearly the way forwards and I wish you guys the best. To those who hoard CGI information from noobs. . . if you have never seen a reprehensible slowpoke, take a good look at the mirror. |

Kobojunkie: Ohhh. . . helpless Yaradua was forced to introduce sharia to his state against his will. He was a good man, equal to Jesus and Mohammad rolled into one but unfortunately, his beautiful intentions were compromised by the prominence of malicious African Juju. Yes, he was not a mindless im-bec.i.le like his fellow band of 35 buffoons, he was a victim. He was so good that he did absolutely nothing with his monthly allocation. Unlike his peers he was watching the money pile up with mouth ajar, almajiri infestation, poverty, illiteracy and all but hey, he saved us some money so what the heck. . .Did I forget to mention he threw sharia on top (cherry on top)? Let us leave Celestial Saint Yaradua alone and blame the real culprits. . . like his wife, Obasanjo and other Nigerians. . . |
