the main reason why IKEA or any company will fail in Nigeria is lack of business template or should I say policy or structure
This govt will come Make this policy, after two years the same govt will change that policy or another govt will come and make new rules For example, why should anyone be paying money to any family just to buy land or build house. After all you paid for the land. And the money is going to a family, not govt. And govt has allowed this to go on for as long as possible. Imagine IKEA making delivery to your street. But they have to settle touts by your street gate, another set of touts will be by your house while they are offloading Secondly We have no action plan Govt should have a plan of things that will be don in the next ten years. On this issue of naira falling We have no olan to either rescue the naira or do anything Lastly Anybody can come with bills and tax you Anybody Local govt. State. Individual For my sch building I pay local govt for dirt and refuse. Something I take care of myself without their help. A sch that is non for profit in a northern village Trust me, if you don't pay wahala
You can't even sue govt to court. You will lose Everything is just set up to make people fail everything It's like a well calculated effort to keep people at the poverty level |

diordaves: As for dashboard, plastic etc, it is possible innosen manufacture them in Nigeria. These are petrochemical by-product. Nigeria has petrochemical plant in Eleme if we can get it to produce.
As for the flat sheet like doors, fender, boot etc they are imported as CKD. Thanks sir |
Properties › Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Greenarrow01(m): 11:52pm On Aug 25, 2021 |
diordaves: Nigeria does not have a flat sheet plant. We only have rolling steel plants to make stuff like rod if we could get them to produce.
This was a big issue in the 70s when Obasanjo administration was implementing the import substitution strategy that brought about Ajaokuta and DSC Aladja. Economists argued then that building a Russian rolling steel plant (Ajaokuta) is a white elephant project. Investing in a flat sheet and aluminum extrusion plant is a better option. From a rolling steel plant you can only make rebars (rods) but with flat sheet plant you can make a whole lot of stuff like car parts, aircraft parts etc. But they didn't listen.
They didn't listen because in the 70s Nigeria was booming. There was the cement armanda, cement was cheap. Very cheap. Nigerians were building houses up and down the country, housing estates were being built in the Federal Capital Lagos eg FESTAC Town. Julius Berger was building fly overs all over the Federal Capital Lagos. The then government thought this boom will go on forever, so as part of the import substitution strategy, Ajaokuta, Aladja and Itakpe were proposed to produce rods to feed the building boom. 50 years down the line we all know what is Ajaokuta today.
So yes. Innosen import parts as CKD and then assemble. Innosen like so many car manufacturers all over the world is an assembly plant. The parts and engine block come from all over the world.
All roofing sheets manufacturers in Nigeria import the roll sheet and then cut and press into the roofing sheets for sale to the public. Thanks so much for this. Should I say I don't believe you Or it still baffles me Cos I have watched so many interviews of innoson where they claim they manufacture most parts in Nigeria. I know the man has a plastic company That should cover for his dashboard and other parts Omo KO easy Nigeria has the potential to be a member of G7 QND MAKE IT g8 But both past and present killed those dreams We have almost d same demographics as India And they are doing better than us. Everybody is responsible for this mess. I don't wanna detail this thread So I will stop here. For 60 years We haven't been able to produce a single govt Both at local and state level that has some level of integrity and can set a benchmark |
Properties › Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Greenarrow01(m): 9:05pm On Aug 25, 2021 |
diordaves: We can't make them in Nigeria as yet. We have three steel plants in Nigeria: Itakpe, Ajaokuta and Aladja. All are rolling steel plant. You need a flat steel plant for Complete Knocked Down sheet (CKD). This was the advice given to Obasanjo down to Shagari way back then in conceptualizing these projects.
The country does not need three rolling plants. At least one flat sheet plant was needed for CKD parts for car manufacturing plants in Ibadan (Laylands), Volkswagen in Lagos, Alumanco in Enugu and Peogeut in Kaduna. But as usual, they did not listen. Today, we know the rest. Pls I will sincerely like to know Are you saying the sheets proforce, innosson and other assembling guys use for their vehicle assembly are all imported ? Cos that's like saying everything in a car is imported. Is there no company that produce sheets for vesicle roofs and doors and sides ? Na metal sheets most of these busses innoson assembles are made off. I will really like to knowSometimes it still baffles me that dangote is building a refinery, shey he is that archaic or not willing to innovate or just choosing the safe way? |

Reducing the quality to consume data is a no no for me.. the problem we have in Nigeria is availability of unlimited data plan, few company offer this but quite expensive.. one of my client is spending over roughly 60k monthly on remote access view..he lives in the state.
The more you view the more data is been consumed. Omo Na where I go get issues b that This is just too much Chai Let's not derail Baba thread Thanks so much |

EgunMogaji2: I only buy equipments from Kenny but do the custom installs myself. Yeah, low quality videos from CCTV are a no no for me.
I have too much other stuff using data that I cannot really tell what the CCTV alone is consuming. MTN offers 30GB for N8K per month. Is this enough for everything per month ? If this is enough It's cool Thanks for your time sir |
Properties › Re: Casa Ava: The Finishing by Greenarrow01(m): 6:07am On Aug 19, 2021 |
EgunMogaji2: It’s a very good question actually.
The higher the video quality sent to the cloud, the more the data consumption. The lower the video quality sent to the cloud, the less the data consumption. So setting your upload quality to low will use the least amount of data but for me it defeats the purpose of having SecCams if the video will be grainy.
On mine there’s three options, high, med and low. I’ll share screenshots later. I set mine to high because I want to see details in the video.
Important to know that you only actually need data if you’re going to be watching remotely. If you’re at home on the same network then no data is consumed. From an IP based system viewpoint which I use and recommend. I forgot the size of the local hard drive. Now I understand You only use data When you are for example traveling. I hate seeing low quality videos from CCTV I just cringe when I see banks not willing to invest in high quality CCTV What is the use of a CCTV camera if you can't capture the face of an offender or crime scene. Having a good image will enable the police do their work effectively. I know you have one on your present build. The one twinskenny did for you How much do you spend on data to view the video remotely and when the CCTV is uploading to cloyd I mean when you are not home |
Properties › Re: Casa Ava: The Finishing by Greenarrow01(m): 4:40am On Aug 19, 2021 |
n3xt: If I share these secret with you, I hope you won’t tell your camera installer
Enabling remote viewing is not what makes your camera consume more data. It’s the resolution at which you’re uploading and downloading the camera data that determines your data usage.
Modern CCTVs have a secondary video stream that uses less data at the cost of lower I mage quality. This is done to allow users with poor cellphone reception or slow upload speed on their camera network to view their cameras in real-time.
Regardless of the quality you’re viewing remotely, your camera will still record in full quality on your network recorders.
On cloud storage, your setup will dictate your need. So how does the CCTV upload quality video to the cloud without consuming much data Sorry I am trying to learn |

n3xt: Data cost is almost negligible. Are you sure Lol She no b d one wey person go dey use 100gb data per month lol Using my primitive mind ooo Those CCTV that you can view from anypart if the world will consume data Also. I think one will have to buy cloud space |

n3xt: Do we really want to build a healthy and profitable culture on this forum?
We need to address the following as a mature mind:
1. Address the gaps we notice; 2. Encourage all stakeholders to address gaps with each other; 3. Create a culture of openness and accountability.
I as a person will respect people more when they talk to me rather than talk about me.
Creating a culture of “We” against “Them” is both dated and destructive.
If we continue this way, it won’t be long before we create fear in those who have genuine interest in knowing why we do what we do. Then the fear leads to risk aversion which eventually kill innovation.
The end result - we keep doing routine because we fear if we ask “We” might be intimidated by the “Them”
_______
Is there anything that hasn’t been solved on YouTube?
#WeMoveee You wey dey talk You would have been buried since If not for your doggedness No be everybody get the mind to stay here after all wetin you don face. n3xt: Like Dangote, Like Elon Musk.
Until we put a stop to an economy that is creating so much wealth for one segment of the society who choose to borrow from the future while leaving the other segment stucked in an increasingly impoverished present, I’d take all our economic theories as a laughable joke. There are new rules
Dangote o l’ori meji!
Give me $1bn and put me on a level playing ground with these guys and leave all those dollars has gone up, inflation, pandemic stories.
Remember I said this:
I’m so worried about the future of this country because we can’t grow this way.
Our markets and economies are getting the result for which it was designed for. That’s why it’s pretty easy for a man to move from $25bn to over $200bn in less than 12 months. You are blaming the wrong people next You are blaming the wrong people. Dangote like every business man is busy taking advantage of loopholes and lack of action from govt against cooperations If you are a business man. You will always take advantage of loopholes and acts of people not doing what they are supposed to do Elon musk is way different. People are shifting to electric vehicles Especially in the Us and China And he is producing the very best. Plus his stocks are trading great. He is doing what everybusiness man should do You don't expect him not to grow You yourself you are growing. You keep mentioning dangote Dangote has lost much of his wealth to this same govt that is not progressing. Dangote is not the only business man in Nigeria We are all just fixed on him. Why is electric tarrifs increasing Why is food price increasing Why is everything increasing. It cos people lost jobs Production slowed And everything was on standstill in 2020 Like someone said earlier The amount you are billing people for duplex in 2018 and now is different I am talking about the money you Bill not material things Why have you not yourself stayed stagnat and not increase the bill See It's just that people need to work harder. But we need to start electing the real people That's why I consider China the best country on earth They only appoint people who know and are ready and trained for the job Not people getting the job because of popularity |
