Show me a dictionary of Bini that says Ogun is a Bini deity. Or any text that says so.

You have already seen a Yoruba text of over 100 years old that proves Ogun is a Yoruba word — and a Yoruba god

Ondos a Yoruba. Their monarchy is Yoruba.

Also, I didn’t ask you about the meaning of YARADUA. I have no business with YARADUA — he is dead.

These Biafra fanatics just write anything to rubbish Benin for the past brutalities they think their people suffered from imperial Benin.

They hardly support any of their positions with historical references, debating or arguing with them is just for fun, they can't be taken seriously.

They and their Yoruba allies who are on the same vendetta mission against Benin history can't provide any evidence to back up their Benin Oduduwa relationship beyond/earlier than 1800s

They can't point to any specific Yoruba monarch that was addressed as Oba before 1824 when the Yoruba was first visited by the Europeans.

Yoruba used the title Oba in general terms until the 1900s when they begin to attached it to their various traditional titles such as the Ooni, Awujale, Alaafin, etc. Whilst we are on the subject, the Igbos and Yorubas should please provide us evidence when the Alaafin and Ooni were first specifically addressed as Oba or when the title Oba specifically appeared alongside their traditional titles.

It's a waste of time debating with those who have an agenda of vendetta, their minds are already made up to believe whatever they want to believe, evidence or not.

Agbede are fully edos and they speak edo language probably their neighbour's akoko edo gave them that name agbede that doesn't equate you to call them yorubas

Again if they were Blacksmith in Benin they should have the benin title for Blacksmith and not a yoruba title

The word Yoruba is from fulani meaning cunny does that equate Yoruba are Fulani

Oba doesn't mean King in Edoid languages. Its a copied word.

Why is it too hard for Africans to admit the truth?

So how do you want me to believe you now without prove,

Can you bring me an 1800 European document addressing a yoruba monarch as oba as his title not as an affiliate general title

Or are you just so angry with we edos that you will say anything to hurt us... Lol

So theo yorubas who borrowed the title at 1930 as a generic term to address their monarchy didn't borrow it

I will give you a brief summary

The benin- ife reationship wasnt historical as you think, it was formed after 1914 after the benin solicited help from the yoruba to be a political ally, in 1914, Benin was just recovering from a devastating war which they had with the British and they were just introduce to indirect rule system which involve traditional rulers, so oba Eweka sought help from the ooni of ife for political support oba eweka was just install that same year so inorder to be ally, it must be culturally rooted through the cultural Oduduwa unity all yorubas agreed on, oba eweka agreed to be part of the Oduduwa homogeneity until things later got soar

Tell what other Edoid group apart from Bini where Oba is used as word for King?

Tell me just one.

I don't fancy Yorubas as I think both of you are trouble makers. But the truth must be said without Bias.

No body that is neutral would not admit that Oba is a Yoruba word.
It is used among all Yoruba groups as a word for king, and not just title of kings.
From Ilaje to Ilorin. Oba remains King in Yoruba speaking realm. The Oba can take any title he wants, but Oba remains the title for king in Yoruba speaking realm.

But in Edo speaking realm. Only Benin whose monarchy is of Yoruba origin use Oba. The Afemai, Akokos, Isoko, Urhobo, etc. Oba has no meaning.
They all use cognates of Edoid word for King, ie Ojie for Esan, Ogie for Bini, and Ovie for Isoko and Urhobo. The Ovies in Urhobo land go by different titles, but they are all called Ovies.

Even in Edoid speaking parts of Ondo, like Ipe, Epinmi, etc. The word for King remains Ogie in their local language, while in keeping to their need to attach to Yorubas, they give their Kings the title of Oba.
Are you sure there is no word like oba in the various ediod clan lexicon

We have the name oba in the various edoid language representing king, urhobo use the word oba, estako, lagos, isoko, esan, as names and praises

The question is which Yoruba monarchy use the title oba to represent king before 1930 when the ooni of ife adopted it and the others followed

The other various edoid supgroups could also adopt the title oba attached to their title as yorubas did in the 1930, but they choose not to, not to cause confusion, if they did, your confusion will cease to exist and your argument will be baseless

Note: not denying some yoruba idols in edo, but it is to be noted this idols like ogboni, ifa sango
Came into edo when the edos where in western region, in order to participate in the then western politics you had to join one of those traditional societies for spiritual fortification and affluence
While some of our indigenous idol have been with the yorubas for more than 400yrs,eg iyalela, olokun, ogun

I also presented you, an excavation done on the arun oba ado site and nothing was found

Ancient Bini was a cosmopolitan society with delicate balance of power. The monarchy was of Yoruba origin and it was indeed said that in time past, Yoruba was the language of Bini royal Court.
The Yoruba rulers were not interested in promoting the Edoid language of the subdued Edoid aboriginals, so every one maintained their own language.
It is only recently that the Anti Yoruba sentiment in Bini is at a crescendo with the Yoruba Obas trying to run away from their Yoruba ancestry like the German ruling royal family of England are trying to run away from their German ancestry post WW1 and WW2, that Bini language promotion throughout the kingdom started. And in deed, Bini people have been squeezing the Igbanke and Olodiama people so hard to drop their Igboid and Izon language and names recently. Likewise Usen people who give their people Yoruba names and speak Yoruba are frowned upon by Bini palace.

Bottomline was that Bini empire had a delicate balance of power between the multiethnic entities there, the Edoid aboriginals were never in position to force their language on others, this is why the likes of Ezechima retained their Igbo language and name and why Igbanke still does same today.
The bini royal stool is never from a yoruba entity,
The benin royal stool is indigenous

Try and steak your mouth to what you know only

Nothing more than fantasy tales mothers tell children.
Like the stories of tortoise and the birds.

A rational person should know better than to take them literally.

No Bini man is ever named Ezechima, not now, not centuries ago.

Just as common sense should tell you that the tortoise never gave the mother vegetables to cook for it and then killed her when the cooked vegetables she served him was too Small relative to the raw vegetables he gave her to prepare. So should common sense tell you that a Bini man cannot be named Ezechima, irrespective of the fact that our mothers told us those stories in the kitchen.
Those were mere fairy tells. We call it "akuko mbekwu", in Igbo language. Mothers usually tell them to hungry children while they wait for food to get done in the kitchen.

Onitsha people on crossing the river Niger had to settle with Obosi Idemili people. And they were Igbo speaking and never Bini speaking. It was until Obosi had a fall out with Onitsha people that they were driven out of Obosi, and they went to their present location, where they met Ozeh people (An Igbo speaking clan), won them in war and drove them inner land to possesses where you call Onitsha today.

Ndi Idemili met Umuezechima as Igbo speaking people. Never were they Bini speakers. This is history as we know it, which Onitsha monarchy having broken free of "Bini fever" are now affirming today.
Ezechima migrated from the anioma part of delta state with the knowledge of an already benin established royalty from his clan in anioma areas of Delta state were he migrated from, when he settled at onitsha he simply replicated the royal stool back home to his new found town

That's why his name is igbo, instead of edo, Ezechima definitely had edo and igbo blood in him

With this explanation u have given here, is it not hypocrisy for u to assume that the word "Korame" as written by the French author was not the European spelling for Eko-amen? grin

Good to see u are learning hard against ur will... This means u are understanding ...

Well continue to read below to get a devastating refutation of ur remaining points grin

Irrespective of whether Ichoo is older or not, it was used rather to refer to Lagos and was most likely gotten from the Benin due to their Close association to the Benin more than the Ijebu

I see that u are already losing ground in this argument... Originally, in ur earlier post, u said

[sup}Formerly it was known as Eko, which name it had received before any settlements were made on the island.”[/sup]

https://www.nairaland.com/6365528/lagos-belongs-benin-obanikoros-grandson/19#98139439

Now u deliberately made changes to the quotation.... That's a clear sign of fear cheesy grin..

Instead of working with this ur later quotation, I'll rather break down the earlier one because u are a strong proponent of the earlier the better grin...

Now according to ur earlier qoutations, u believe that the land was named Eko by people who had not yet make any form of settlement on the land...

U are a big comedian guy grin ...

Now, if there was no form of settlement on that land, how did they get to name the land before they decided to settle on the land...... It also implies they never saw the land sef embarassed

This once again cast doubts on the debunked Alan Burns folktales grin

Rather, how about a complete breakdown of the word Eko from Benin...

The Eko in Benin can be derived from when Benin conquered Lagos in late 16th century and made it a base from where they controlled trade in that area...

It was originally Eko-amen because of the waters that surrounded it and was corrupted by the Europeans to Korame and the Yorubas to Eko...

Now that's the truth grin

...

U didn't use evidence rather u used ur language to make ur point while forgetting that the Benin had been present in Lagos and effected a lot of changes contrary to ur dead, weak and spineless Olofin regime and a suddenly new person who no one have heard except u...

Keep springing up lies grin

The fact remains, Eko was named by Benin

U are trying so hard to be cunning grin... But lemme shock u, its not working grin cheesy... Not on me tho......

Now... When D'Avesac made his comparison, there was no need for him to use the term older when referring to Dutch reports...

What he was actually comparing was the Portuguese and the Dutch term Not the Dutch and Ijebu word...

His use of the term older is to show that Curamo was older than all the terms there Esp the Dutch's own...

Its logical to know that the Dutch reports has been existing since before the 16th century ...way older before the term "Eko was first heard.....

In conclusion, The French author implied that the European terms were older than the African terms compared with...

The Dutch reports has always be existing before the term Eko was first heard...

The origin of the Dutch reports can be determined with proofs but not the Yorubas own which will at best be inflated by the arrogant Yorubas grin

Its safe to see that u are already making concessions in this argument... U have already dropped a point that korame was derived from curamo to this..

But I must say that this is an outright lie... A barefaced lie to say the least

You could have at least done ur research before telling this big lie... Maybe u thought u were conversing with ur fellow Yoruba zombies grin

Now..The term Curamo in Portuguese means cure...

The term "Lago de Curamo" means lakes of healing ..... grin

Now the term Curamo which is said to derive from the Yoruba doesn't mean anything that aromire Eko means...

It is also older than the term Eko

U didn't even define the word to compare with Curamo which was supposedly borrowed from Yoruba.....

Even.if u did, it won't mean the same as it is in Portuguese
This brings us to the term "Loanword"

Loanword are words adopted from one language (the donor language) and incorporated into another language without translation.

This meaning already implies that Loanword is borrowed without any changes to it... It might be corrupted due to pronouciation but it's meaning doesn't change...

I have given previous examples of borrowed words... Refer to it for ur understanding

In Conclusion:
1)The term Curamo is a Portugese word
2) Curamo was not derived from any Yoruba word
