Thank you brother.
The custom generally in my state is that if u don't fulfill their rites they'll pour and consult the spirit of the dead to strike you dead.
I used to think it was a fallacy and superstition till it happened to a stubborn friend I Know that resisted such rites. Dude was struck dead be a ghost.
The rites alone cost 2 million, it is Only after fulfilling the rites before they approve your date for burial.
Failure to do that they'll consult the spirit of the dead and it'll strike you dead.
This rubbish you wrote is very painful to read.
An educated man, someone who is probably old enough to be a father himself is afraid of ghosts.
How will you raise your children ?

You will teach them to be afraid of ghosts ?

I am sure you are a tither and supposed committed christian, this is the reason religion in Nigeria/Africa is a joke.

The worst form of bondage is half-baked education mixed with a high dose of hypocrisy.

Africa is doomed with people with your kind of mindset roaming around the continent.

The kind of jobless irritants that litter this forum is mind boggling.

You just come on peoples post and write trash, are you so jobless that you go about looking for threads to annoy people on ?

Atleast before calling someone a scammer you post a proof.

These are the kind of "graduates" the dysfunctional Nigerian educational system is churning out.

Instead of asking sensible questions if you are in doubt, you open your maggot infested mouth to accuse someone of scam without an atom of proof.

Very annoying...

FamilyRe: Father's Should Stop Provoking Their Children by GuyInTheMirror: 12:03am On Jun 12, 2021
@Op please dont be surprised with the kind of responses you will get.
You have made very good points.
A lot of parents in Nigeria are bad parents, these parents have emotionally damaged their children and continue to abuse them psycologically. They use the scripture and other cultural practises to evade accountability and responsibility.
A parent is accountable and responsible for the child he has.
A parent is not doing a child a favour by feeding him of paying his school fees.
Unfortunately, many people have allowed poor sentiments to prevent them from being objective when parents are involved.
Parents are not saints and going by what we see in Nigeria, many parents are bad parents who deserve to be reprimanded.

Since most Nigerians lack the capacity for critical and objective reasoning as is obvious from many posts on Nairaland, it will be difficult for many people to fully understand and objectively discuss issues regarding parents.

You will see some parents, making it almost impossible for their daughters to marry with unrealistic bride price, some parents are even responsible for dissolving their own child marriage because of greed and jealousy of the child spouse...

My advise to people with toxic parents is to pretend that you do not have parents, then buckle up your shoes and work hard. Do not reveal your secrets to them, try and deal with your issues by yourself, lastly, pray for God to bless you with a good wife and a loving family so that you can shower your love on them.

I am not saying you should not help your parents, but if your parents are toxic, learn to draw a line with them and dont allow them abuse you emotionally and lead you to depression.

Hi Poster, I want to say I completely understand what you are dealing with.
As a 34 year old single guy in North America living alone , working from home and dealing with isolation, I have gone through the worst form of depression.
But if you are able to pick up something and channel your interest into it, it might help.
For example I decided to learn a new field AI and also invested heavily in music and the progress I am making in these areas has been the only thing holding my sanity together.
You have to get busy, put your energy, time, effort into something that you can patiently watch it grow.
That will bring some satisfaction and sense of fullfillment to you.
I wish you goodluck.

I had to go to my friend’s house to cry and she advised me to return to the hotel and talk things out. On getting there, he had already gone to change his flight ticket, I cried and begged, X had made up his mind to leave on Saturday.

I quietly went back to my friend’s house. Next morning, X says I should come over let’s discuss, I get there and he says I should escort him to Balogun market to buy things. I obliged. I stressed myself and when we got back, I asked for us to discuss, he said he really doesn’t think it can work!

I said if you know this was the same thing you had in mind since morning, why did you ask me to come and see you? Why did you make me take you to the market? I almost ran mad. All I could do was cry and leave the hotel. My friend had to come pick me up.

I fell ill in Lagos, I felt my world crashing before my eyes, X was still not interested in resolving issues. I begged him for us to work things out and try to assist each other in our shortcomings as nobody is perfect. He said ok, let’s think and pray. 3weeks gone and today I finally asked him to know our stand really and he said it’s not working.

Now, I took a loan for him which he is to pay monthly, I told him I want the loan paid down in 1month. This was said in anger however, I feel pained that this is someone I could go the extra mile for but he feels he can’t do same for me when it comes to my flaws.

P.s- We have helped each other in various ways

I am terribly heartbroken and my work is suffering, I’m smiling but deep down I am in pains. I just felt like pouring this here. Feel free to advice and encourage me.

Thank you.
smiley I also dropped a babe before for this kind of behaviour. Exactly yelling at the driver.
This babe actually came from abroad and we were on our way to see her parents and mine.
I do not regret that decison, when a lady screams at the conductor when you are not married.
If you are married she will lock you out of the house.
Do not make excuse for your bad behaviour, take responsibility.
No man wants a loose canon as a wife.
The fact you also gave him an ultimatum to pay the loan shows the kind of person you really are, if you can do that to someone you are begging to marry you.
You will do worse when you are married and I am sure the guy is intelligent and he can see your real character.
You are probably too spontaneous and need to learn to overcome that weakness

Goodluck poster.

My good Yoruba female friend loves an Ibo (he tells her he's Ibo not Igbo) man from Delta state. She's in early 30s, he's 40. They live abroad, have

been chatting for over one month. They love each other.

The man was married to an Ibo woman of 35 two years ago who dumped him after arriving abroad. The marriage took place in Nigeria. He got his

papers from Nigeria. They arrived abroad then he processed her own papers. After she got her papers one fight after the other, they separated last

year, they're waiting for divorce papers next month. The woman's family in Nigeria returned her bride price back to the man's family.

My friend says the man hasn't said a lot on the reason for the divorce, other than they were arguing lots. The man has been good to my friend, but,

my friend is worried not knowing why the man is divorced, if the man is abusive (he has told her he and ex wife had many verbal exchanges, there

was a time she was hitting her body against the wall so as to make it look like he abused her).

The man has told my friend he plans to sponsor his family members abroad, that his family members is going to live with him and his wife. My friend

doesn't want inlaws living with them after marriage.

Any advice for her? Anything she needs to know about dating or marrying an Ibo man?

From what I can see in the write-up,the cause of what is making him lose weight can be clearly depicted and the cause of the cause of what is happening to him will be definitely marrying unprepared when you are not financially stable, you jump into marriage which is more of a forced marriage.Worse still if the wife has nothing to offer as support.

That's why we advise men in our seminar never to go into marriage until you are financial stable and have a stable source of income no matter how the woman, friends, family etc push you to marry her because you are the one that will be mostly affected while she will be relaxed. Imagine such a weight lost.So pathetic.
So what will happen to the women, we have thousands of women almost hitting menopause roaming around without any hope of getting married, while the men go for far younger women after they make money.

If you are asking these type of questions then you should probably not be thinking of getting married.
It is not your wife that should determine your standard of living.
Look for a woman that will help you manage what you earn, test her with little things and observe if she is a SAVER or a SPENDER.
If you marry a SPENDER your life is ruined...

DO NOT LOOK FOR A WOMAN TO PLEASE, LOOK FOR A WOMAN WHO IS PLEASED WITH YOU.

The fact that you are trying to undermine him for this post when it clearly shows his frustration and amplifies an individual looking for support means you yourself lack the ability to properly manage a young adult.

sorry about the seed life has given you. you are the soul owner of how you want to plant and author the seed.

Although it's your Uncle's duty is to be a father figure and guardian to you since you father passed away.
But your Uncle at 35 is very young and you at 17.... the age Gap is low and he is also still young and may not understand what it takes to be a father.

look for an older family member and tell them you want them to help guide your decision making and choices about life
This is wrong, some 25 year old have sense more than 60 year old.
Age is never a determinant of maturity.
Especially in a country like Nigeria where the elderly are the ones that ruin the country, majority of the elderly in Nigeria lack integrity and that is why that generation ruined NIgeria.

If the 35 year old Uncle is matured and has dealt with life there is nothing stopping him from being able to provide the right kind of guidance and mentorship.

I am less than that age and I provide guidance for people much older than me here abroad, despite that I grew up in NIgeria.
Age does not determine maturity.

If you cannot make your life decision by yourself at this time and have to depend on strangers to tell you what to do which you are still confused about then leave road and stop gathering peoples data on the internet.

I am sure the guy will have something different to say, from the OPs narrative it is certain she feels entitled to the guys money and expects to keep her own as savings.
A sensible man will understand that a woman that thinks she is doing a man a favour by supporting the home financially is one to run away from and I am certain the guy is already trying to chase the girl but she is not seeing it.

This is a very potent weapon of upliftment that many people are ignorant of.

I do not pay tithe, I give to the needy the money I should pay as tithe and God has been very faithful.
From getting a banking job without knowing anyone, to surviving life threatening issues, to immigrating to North America to getting my very first Job here in North America .

Just last week, I stumbled on 2 stocks that I bought and have now doubled in price....

Please if you dont learn anything from Nairaland, learn to give to the needy and by honest in your dealings, your life will transform . If you are like me without long leg please learn to give to the needy you will be favoured for it.

I am speaking out of personal experience.

Truthfully Django is not a profitable skill. I always recommend newbies to check the job market. There's very few Django jobs out there and the few are for senior developers. Hardly would you get an opportunity as a junior Django developer except you plan to build your own Company once you done learning

As for Shopify, you need the frontend. So learn HTML CSS JavaScript, React which Shopify uses and then ruby on rails. Then hop onto the Shopify documentation to learn liquid.
Thank you very much.
Although I am based in Canada, I will try and confirm the marketability of django here, cos I started out with python and I am very proficient with python, and learning django has been a much easier thing than Javascript.

Can you compare the percentage of marriage failure of those who married themselves abroad and those who brought in their partners ? I can tell you more people who married themselves abroad divorce than people who brought in partners from their native countries.
Also when you want to bring in a partner you dont have to let the partner know you are going back abroad atleast for the first few months of the relationship to understand their true nature.

Meanwhile this story sounds fake, more like a blogger trying to get traffic.

I'll advise you re-think the bolded.
Have you ever been abroad ? Do you even know the type of ladies we have abroad ? Well, the type of ladies I want are plenty in Naija but I haven't met them here.
And cultural compatibility is a huge part of marriage, there is a reason Asians especially Indians abroad seem to have the lowest divorce rates out of immigrants in the west.
They most times go back home to marry and hardly marry other nationalities (this is true for atleast the first generation immigrants) .
