You omitted to mention traditionalism, which I clearly included. African culture and tradition also relied on religion and religious taboos... or do atheists believe in traditional religions? Do you have more evidence for the existence of Amadioha or Sango than you have for God?

It is for this reason that I expected you to use 'logic, fact and evidence' to answer the original question, rather than resort to a personal attack on the op and his God's tenets. A personal opinion based on hot air alone is going to be subject to ridicule, or so atheists like your good self claim. Hard evidence is everything, or there is no belief, you tell us. Atheists have morals too, and based on something more concrete than Santa Claus, you indignantly assert. This is the time to show us that basis.

No, I didnt. But it should not have been pertinent to any response given by an atheist to the main question, since after all, you do not believe in God, and it was evidently wrong to respond to the main question by saying "shebi your God permitted it" when you are an atheist.

Atheists pride themselves for only believing things with REASON. The reason why in.cest is frowned upon in society, is due to past religious influence on culture, whether Islam, Christianity or traditionalism...

none of which atheism approves of. Also, the question did not ask specifically about you as an individual. It asked whether it is considered right or wrong by atheists, and the rational atheist reason(s) for making that choice.

I was not the one that asked, but I entered expecting some highly rational, scientific explanations as to why it was right (or wrong) to sleep with one's mother or sister. Instead, I only saw bitter counter accusations by atheists; using all the 'nasty' styles of argument that they accuse fundamentalist Christians of using.

What disappointing answers. I really expected to see lucid responses backed by scientific research, instead of counter accusations (your God allows it too), deliberate misrepresentation of the question (in.cest is different from inbreeding) and appeals for mercy (stop attacking atheists).

I'm only aware of one country (Sweden) that will knowingly marry siblings, and only half-siblings at that. That will change as full marriage equality sweeps around the world, so that an adult is free to marry and any all consenting adults. There are many other countries and a few US states where there are no laws against adult siblings having sex or living together, but they still don't have the freedom to marry.

Keep in mind, though, that not criminalizing it is not the same thing as protecting it from bigotry.

Exactly!!! Somehow they think the lives of humans will be better without religion. Other irreligious countries may be doing fine but irreligion is not atheism. Many irreligious people are spiritual and believe in a Creator. Hardly can one mention an atheist country (not irreligious ones) that has not been sick in their pursue for dominance. We can also see atheists countries such as north korea. History has proven that suppression of religious freedom has to retain brutality. These atheists are no different, the level at which they dedicate their lives to God and religion is enough proof that they would do anything to make it go away.

Besides, atheism has done absolutely nothing for humanity. The progress of science and technology has been largely due to religious minds. I then wonder where they got this craze to preach that getting people to be atheists means a better society. Billions of people find meaning with God, this fact disturbs atheists. Instead of spending their time to help humanity, they prefer to invest heavily in criticizing christians. At least we know that no one this much time on a lie.

I am a Christian, I cannot be in a forum where my God is being ridiculed by some persons including the founder of the forum. My Bible teaches me that, blessed is he who is not found in the company of the ungodly. I registered in nairaland last year after many years of visiting because I thought it was a forum to meet and interact with fellow Nigerians. I have suddenly come to realize that there is a conspiracy to ridicule the Christian faith and turn young Christians into atheists. I am a solid Christian and nothing can derail me from my faith, but I can't stand the number of baby Christians who get confused and carried away with all this Atheist and anti-christain posts I find on front page.

Though things are going fine with me but I write on behalf of others who suffer in this vast globe..... Because things go well with me and not with others doesn't make me satisfied. Infact it pains me when some theists say people who suffer and die are more righteous than I am but God loves me even as a sinner. Also, you quoted from that primitive text called the bible which is actually a contradictory ideas of people who claimed they were inspired by the infinite boss of all knowldege yet there are inconsistences and discrepancies in a self acclaimed holy book. It even amazes me that there are similarities between bible text and earlier works such as Enuma Elish, Epic of Gilgamesh, Wisdoms of Amenemope e.t.c.
It shows that the bible was a borrowed idea and not independent as people claim. Besides, what makes you think there are no other gods existing? What would you do if you found out that Zeus or Enki was the true God? Besides, El which is the Hebrew for "God" is a Canaanite deity likewise Yahweh. So, the Jews picked a favorite God and dumped the others (Baal, Ashtoreth, Ashima). I am also disturbed by the ignominies and opprobrious acts commited in the Old Testament, all in the name of Jehovah.

My friend it is time we seek truth outside the bible. Before us is a world with hidden treasures. We just have to summon courage to dig it up.
