Crime › 71-year-old Dies After Marathon Sex With Woman by handie(op): 5:45am On Jun 06, 2015 |
Residents of PTI Road in Effurun, near Warri, Delta State were thrown into confusion following the mysterious death of 71-year old security guard after alleged marathon sex with a strange woman.
It was reliably gathered that the victim, identified as Borniface Madu, had received an unknown female guest last Thursday in his place of work during nightfall and allegedly had sex with her before giving up the ghost in mysterious circumstances.
Reacting, his family members and the owner of the compound where he worked have expressed shock over the incident and petitioned the police to investigate his death as he never had any signs of sickness before the incident.
But unconfirmed sources said the security guard allegedly had marathon sex with the female guest suspiciously hustling to make ends meet.
It was further learnt that the security guard was working as gateman in a compound whose owner is not always around except the younger brother who occasionally comes around to sleep in the house with his lovers.
But the police image maker in the State, DSP Celestina Kalu confirmed that the security guard was killed in marathon sex with a strange woman who allegedly sauntered into the premises for fear of security agents chasing prostitutes out of the streets of Warri adding that wrappers of the woman was found in one of the rooms.
The body of the security guard was discovered by the younger brother of the owner of the compound after his efforts to drive into the house on his return from a club house failed on the fateful night.
He was said to have reported the matter to the police station in Effurun Division prompting the police to swing into action for investigation. http://leadership.ng/news/438791/71-year-old-dies-after-marathon-sex-with-woman |
Politics › Real Reason Inauguration Of 8th Lagos Assembly Was Postponed-premium Times by handie(op): 5:38am On Jun 06, 2015 |
On Wednesday, the Lagos State House of Assembly postponed the inauguration of the 8th Assembly of the state. While the statement did not give any reason for the postponement, PREMIUM TIMES gathered from sources close to the assembly that the postponement was connected to the lingering tussle and ongoing horse trading among various interests and power blocks within the All Progressives Congress in the state on who to replace outgoing speaker, Adeyemi Ikufuriji, Though the party has not officially zoned the position to any senatorial district in the state, a source close to top decision makers who asked not to be named because he did not have the authority to speak officially on the issue, told PREMIUM TIMES it was taken for granted that the next Speaker should come from the Lagos Central Senatorial District. It was assumed that since the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, and his deputy, Idiat Adebule, are from the two other senatorial districts – Lagos East and Lagos West, respectively, the position speaker, which is the number three position in the state, should come from Lagos Central. But things appear to have fallen apart among politicians and elected assembly members from the Lagos Central Senatorial District who are working at cross purposes. Being the most experienced returning lawmaker from Lagos Central in the assembly, some party faithful were of the opinion that Lanre Oshun, who is a third term returnee, should be made the Speaker. However, his candidacy does not have the blessing of some party leaders who have other members they are pushing for the same position. PREMIUM TIMES learnt that Mr. Oshun’s seeming independent mindedness is not doing him any good among some of his colleagues who perceive him as arrogant. “The reason Lanre Oshun candidacy is not flying is because he comes across as someone that will not play ball, some of his peers say he’s arrogant. He is also not someone that is likely to run to Bourdillion to take permission to go to toilet,” said a source close to the assembly, explaining that Mr. Oshun is not likely to bend to the wishes of the APC national leader, Bola Tinubu. There are also reports that the senator representing Lagos Central, Oluremi Tinubu, is against the emergence of Mr. Oshun. Sources at the assembly said she called to annul an agreement reached after a meeting or stakeholders last Tuesday to make Mr. Oshun the Deputy Speaker. Mr. Oshun is also being overlooked by a tight- knit purist group within the party which does not see him as a real “Omo Eko”. This group, which comprises politicians mainly from the Lagos Island axis of the state, believes that Mr. Oshun, who is from Yaba and is the representative of Lagos Mainland II Constituency, is not ancestrally from what they refer to as the traditional Lagos – the original Eko and should not be considered over those they term as being “Omo Eko”. “If you look at Lagos, places like Apapa, Yaba and Ikeja are basically towns created by the colonial government as part of Western Nigeria and later given prominence by the federal government,” our source said. “So these group of influential party members in the state, who are bent on installing only people that fit into their definition of Omo Eko into prominent positions, are relentlessly working against him.” It is believed that this group is actively plotting to install Wasiu Eshinlokun, a lawmaker for Lagos Island I Constituency. But his candidacy is being met with a lot of resistance mainly because many lawmakers think Mr. Eshinlokun, who was last elected into the assembly in 1999, has been away for too long to be given such a leadership position. The Tinubu man The involvement of Mr. Tinubu and Mr. Ikuforiji, who are reportedly keen on seeing other candidates outside the Lagos Central Senatorial District become the new Speaker, has thickened the intrigue surrounding who emerges the next Speaker. Mr. Tinubu, PREMIUM TIMES learnt, is pushing for his preferred candidate through a proxy so as to avoid being seen as imposing someone on the lawmakers. According to our source, the man who protects Mr. Tinubu’s interest is Adebayo Osinowo, aka Pepper. “Tinubu cannot afford to be directly involved in the tussle because it is somehow beneath him. But we know that whatever Pepper champions in the assembly is Tinubu’s wish. He’s Tinubu’s mouth and ear in the Assembly.” Mr. Osinowo is one of the most vocal supporters of the candidacy of Modasiru Obasa, who most likely will be named Speaker on Monday when the Assembly is eventually inaugurated. On his part, Mr. Ikuforiji is vigorously pushing for the former Deputy Whip of the Assembly, Rotimi Abiru, to be named the Speaker. This is understandable because Mr Abiru is the only returning principal officer of the 7th assembly. However, we learnt that Mr. Ikuforiji’s influence in the assembly waned after he failed in his gubernatorial ambition. Hence, his support for Mr. Abiru may not carry the force required to upstage the likes of Mr. Obasa and Funmilayo Tejuosho. Funilayo Tejuosho, the former Deputy Speaker of the assembly, has never hidden her ambition to lead the house. Her drive is also propelled by her ambition to become the first female Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly. She even indicated her interest in the position even before the general elections. Recently, she has granted series of interviews in the print and electronic media aimed at selling her candidacy. If presence in the media was the only criterion needed to be named Speaker of the Assembly, the position will definitely go to her. She is believed to have also mobilised influential women group with the party to help push her candidacy. But it seems the demon of her 2009 impeachment has not been completely exorcised. Some party members are scared that she is inherently anti- establishment and headstrong. However, some of her supporters say the largely men dominated assembly simply fell threatened by her assertiveness. She is perhaps the only contender calling for the contest to be thrown open and transparent election should be held to pick the speaker rather than choosing a consensus candidate. “Of course, they won’t agree to such a proposal,” our source said. “They will want to resolve it at the back-end before coming out to vote because they do not want someone to spring surprises on them.” Efforts to confirm from the state chapter of the party about what is being done to make sure that the situation does not lead to friction within its ranks were unsuccessful. The Spokesperson of the Party, Joe Igbokwe, did not answer several calls to his mobile phone. Also, the state Chairman of the party, Henry Ajumale, could not be reached as his mobile phone was switched-off. . Politics › Buhari Moves To Slash Own Salary, Allowance-punch by handie(op): 5:16am On Jun 06, 2015 |
There are strong indications that in fulfilment of his campaign promise to reduce the cost of governance, President Muhammadu Buhari may have concluded plans to slash his salary and reduce his personal emoluments. It was learnt that the President expected the Vice-President and other political appointees to take a similar decision. Saturday PUNCH gathered in Abuja on Friday that the President would have made his decision public but chose to consult with his close associates on how best to approach the issue without being seen as dictatorial. According to the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, President Buhari will earn a monthly salary of N3, 514, 705. He is also entitled to a regular hardship allowance and 50 per cent of the basic salary, which is N1,757,350.50. There is however no information yet as to what percentage of Buhari’s salary and emoluments will be slashed. But it was reliably learnt that the President would also reduce State House budget. Other areas being considered by the President included appointment of aides and the possibility of implementing the report of the Stephen Oronsaye-led Presidential Committee on the Rationalisation and Restructuring of Federal Government Parastatals, Commissions and Agencies. Buhari, had on Tuesday sought the approval of the National Assembly to appoint 15 special advisers, unlike former President Goodluck Jonathan, who had 23 special advisers and scores of special assistants. It was gathered that the President, who in his inaugural speech, said the Nigerian economy was in deep trouble, might not increase the number of special advisers from 15 as part of the measures to cut down cost of governance. It was also learnt that the President might look into the report of the Oronsaye committee and the White Paper on it. The committee had said that out of the existing 541 MDAs in the country, only 163 deserved to exist. A top member of the APC, who confided in Saturday PUNCH, said that the President had also concluded plans to submit some bills to the National Assembly for the implementation of some of these cost-saving measures. But President Buhari had, at various fora, faulted the budgetary process adopted by successive Peoples Democratic Party-led administrations over the past 16 years. A close confidant of the President, Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, had in his inaugural address to the people of the state, announced a fifty per cent cut in his salary and that of the deputy governor. One of the President’s acolytes, and South East Zonal Spokesman of the All Progressives Congress, Osita Okechukwu told Saturday PUNCH that, left to him alone, President Buhari would not bat an eyelid before taking such a decision. He, however said, “But you see, the circumstances now are different, he has to do a lot of consultations because the composition of the National Assembly means he has to consult across party lines. “From the little I know of him, his desire like he said during the campaigns and afterwards, is to reduce the cost of governance across board and this cannot be done without consultations. “We can’t have a situation where he will be seen as trying to make other party members look bad by taking a salary cut while others are not carried along.” He also said, “He is committed to cutting cost across board and I see him reducing the pecks of that office to an acceptable level and this becomes even more compelling because of the economic mess we have found ourselves in.” Another associate, Mr. Rotimi Fashakin, also told Saturday PUNCH that another area likely to take a hit is the Presidential Air fleet which is reported to have about 10 aircraft. He explained that the cost of maintaining this number of aircraft is one area that is likely to attract the President’s attention. According to him, the President who has experienced governance at the highest level is not one to do things in a hurry without consultation and thinking them through. Fashakin noted that critics may accuse the President of not acting fast enough without putting things in perspective. He said, for example, “The President has not taken any definite action. Ordinarily, people will not even expect the service chiefs to still be operating now, but because of the exposure and maturity that we are having in government; with a person of President Muhammadu Buhari’s stature, he studies a situation before taking action “He won’t just appoint ministers to fulfil all righteousness, he will do a thorough job and this is a democracy which he has subscribed to. “He promised to cut the cost of governance to an acceptable level and this is even more so when the economy like every other aspect of our national life is in tatters.” Attempts to get a reaction on issues raised from the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, were unsuccessful. Calls to his mobile phone did not connect while a text message sent to him was yet to be delivered as of the time of filing this report (8:11pm). It may be recalled that former President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration had made a provision of N348, 342,741 as its proposal for honorarium and sitting allowance for the State House in the 2015 budget. The breakdown of the expenditure on travel and transport showed that the president will be spending N1, 306,834,350 on local travels and transport and the sum of N621, 067,913 on international travel and transport. The travel bill of the president for 2014 was higher than the provision for 2014. The 2014 budget made a provision of N2, 378,862,017 for the office of the president for local and international travels. For food stuff/catering materials supplies, a provision of N142, 472,537 was made for the office of the president. The 2015 budget proposal included a provision of N131, 911,315 for fuel and lubricants for the State House. The breakdown showed that plant/ generator fuel will consume N35, 344,855; motor vehicle fuel will consume N85, 843,802 while cooking gas/fuel will consume N10, 102,858. For 2014, the State House received lesser provision of N122, 855,267 for fuel and lubricants. This was broken down into motor vehicle fuel, N79, 950,407; plants and generators, N33, 476,963 and cooking gas/fuel cost, N9, 427,898. A provision of N60, 847,647 was made for the office of the president for advertisement and publicity. For the State House, N287,514,283 provision was made for welfare packages; N174,537,975 for refreshment and meals; N215, 635,715 for food stuff and catering services; N31,582,475 for medical expenses; and N35,495,233 for publicity and advertisement. These provisions are likely to be reviewed downwards Source: www.punchng.com/news/buhari-moves-to-slash-own-salary-allowances/ |

Brb. Make I plug ma phone. Ehen! In as far as I agree with Mr. Keyamo's view on d number of ministers, having ministers with the axe hanging over them won't be good for the polity. Why won't a minister loot funds when he knows for sure he won't last 4 years? And it will disrupt policies and leave d naton in a lurch. Best thing is d merging of ministries and appointing a junior and senior minister in each. With this, there'll be more efficiency and a cut in cost of governance |

Politics › El-rufa’i, Deputy To Forfeit 50% Salary by handie(op): 4:27pm On May 29, 2015 |
Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i of Kaduna State on Friday said he would forfeit 50 per cent of his salary pending when the financial situation of the state improves. The governor stated this in his inaugural address, after he was sworn-in by the state Chief Judge, Justice Tanimu Zailani in Kaduna. He said the pay cut would also affect the Deputy Governor, Mr. Barnabas Bala. El-Rufa’i also declared that the administration would “guarantee free and compulsory basic education for every child up to JS3, regardless of gender, religion or ethnicity.” He said in spite of the challenges facing the state, the administration would also “focus on jobs, security, education, and healthcare.” “The fact is that today Kaduna State cannot meet its obligations without handouts from the federal government. “We cannot comfortably pay salaries of our teachers and nurses and civil servants. “And after struggling to pay salaries, we can do little else. “We cannot fix the schools, help our farmers, repair our roads, or treat the sick. We have arrived at a dead end. The patient is sick, and it needs radical therapy.” El-Rufa’i said the situation demanded for “difficult decisions,” adding that political office holders must sacrifice the comfort of their offices for the greater good of all. “In recognition of the difficult challenges we face, our deputy governor and I have concluded that the sacrifices that change requires must begin with us. “We have decided to take a pay cut and donate 50 percent of our salaries and allowances, until our fiscal situation improves. “We understand that leadership by example is the most persuasive way to demand sacrifices from all of us as citizens. “We pledge to avoid ostentation and foolish bigmanism, and to value transparency, modesty and accountability. On security, the governor said he would work with law enforcement officials to drastically reduce violent crime in the state including “communal violence, cattle-rustling and armed robbery.” “We will reform the administration of justice to ensure speedy conclusion of cases and send a clear message that there will be sanctions for unlawful conduct.” He therefore solicited for maximum support from the people of the state to enable the administration deliver on its promises. Was once in d city and after marvelling at how beautiful d city is, I had cause tto visit nwaniba(inside uyo) and it was a far cry from d beauty I saw in strategic places. Governance should be about increasing d lot of d populace not going on some fancy jumbo projects the common man won't benefit from... What's the percentage of akwa ibomites that can afford a ticket to that stadium... Nor is governance about giving of luxury cars to artistes... All in all, Obong Godswill Akpabio tried.... Though to me, his priorities were rather misplaced |

Are u trying to justify female molestation? No matter what she wears, how she turns u down, magarize u, or party from morning to morning, you have no justification for raping a girl... If she doesn't permit u, bro move on |

Barcanista, I still don't get how u changed overnight. Real men don't leave their principles on a whim. U said it's because u've had cause to know more about GEJ. My question is, didn't u know about him b4 castigating him b4? If u really are into something the way u were into d GMB project, it's not easy to turn away(for instance, even if u say u don't support FCB no more, u will still feel something them) Love and belief in a cause ain't easily lost... Leading me to believe, u are only doing a job for d PDP. If I'm right, Bros abeg share d moohlah reach me o |
