PoliticsUS Flew Oyo Hotelier Killed By Herdsmen Home For Burial — Family by happney65(op): 9:27am On Oct 04, 2022
Ayorinde Owolabi, the brother of a hotelier, late Olugbenga Owolabi, has said the United States of America gave the Nigerian government a time frame to find his killers.

PUNCH Metro had reported that Olugbenga and a worker at his hotel, Rachael Opadele, were abducted by gunmen at Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

They were killed by their abductors on August 3.

Olugbenga, a US citizen, was said to be living in Maryland, US, and decided to invest in hospitality business in his hometown, Ogbomoso.

It was learnt that the hotel was opened in December 2021 and he was abducted and killed a few months after.

His funeral held on October 1 at the Trinity Life Church, Maryland, US.

Ayorinde, who spoke to our correspondent on Monday, said the American government asked the Department of State Services to bring his brother’s killers to justice.

He said, “The American government wanted evidence and they came down here to do a post-mortem. Another post-mortem was done in the US before the burial. The case was presented at the United Nations meeting which was just concluded.

“They have given the Nigerian government a time frame to get the perpetrators; the instruction was given to the DSS office, but up till now, no arrest has been made. They already have the facts that herdsmen were behind the killing.

“The American government took his body from LAUTECH back to the US. A death certificate was obtained at the LAUTECH teaching hospital and also at the Delaware State Military Hospital, USA.”

PoliticsTinubu’s Campaign Council Holds Closed-door Meeting Tuesday by happney65(op):
Members of the newly constituted All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council will on Tuesday hold an emergency closed-door meeting in Abuja.

The development is coming five days after the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, failed to kick off its nationwide electioneering campaign in line with the directive of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Tinubu’s camp also called off Wednesday’s proposed solidarity march that was scheduled to commence from the PCC office on Herbert Macaulay Way in Central Business District to the Unity Fountain in Maitama.

A source told The PUNCH that members of the campaign team are planning to meet with Tinubu in one of its campaign office in Abuja.

He said, “We have been told that we will be having a meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) but it is not something we are hoping to divulge to the media now.

“But I cannot confirm Tinubu will be there because I really don’t know if he is back in the country from his trip to London,”

On the essence of the meeting, the source disclosed that it has to do with a number of issues ranging from the fresh list of over 2,000 appointees for the presidential campaign council, the postponed inauguration and ‘workable’ strategies to kick start the campaign after Tinubu’s approval.

When contacted, the PCC Director of Media and Communication was hesitant about commenting on Tuesday’s meeting but confirmed that the former Lagos State governor is expected to arrive this week.

“He is arriving this week. I don’t have any update for you on the presidential campaign inauguration,” he stated.

But Spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, confirmed the meeting.

He said, “Yes, but I don’t know whether it is with the candidate or not but I am aware the PCC is having a meeting”.

Keyamo did not, however, mention the venue of the meeting.

The PUNCH reported that Tinubu had on Friday unveiled a 422-man committee comprising political heavyweights and other notable members to pilot the various sub-committees of the campaign council to drive its strategy for electoral victory in the 2023 presidential poll.

The list of members released by the Presidential Campaign Council Secretary, James Faleke, in Abuja, followed series of postponements and conjectures about those who would be saddled with the task of leading the ruling party’s bid to retain power at the federal level.

The campaign council chaired by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, as co-deputy chairmen.

Also on the PCC are APC governors, ministers, lawmakers, ambassadors as well as serving and past public office holders.

Zonal and state coordinators, advisers, campaign patrons, directors, deputy directors and secretaries of directorates were also named.

The sub-committees include media and publicity; support group coordination; national youth mobilisation; parliamentarian; trade and economic; agriculturists/commodities; campaign planning; civil societies; Diaspora directorate; election planning and monitoring; finance; fund raising; and humanitarian/social.

Others are ICT/data management; intelligence and security; labour; logistics and support service; medicals; policy research and strategy; protocol and events, and others.

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, retained his position as the director-general and Adams Oshiomhole as the deputy director-general (Operations), while Bayo Onanuga is the Director of Media and Publicity.

Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum was appointed the vice-chairman and state coordinator, while ex-Akwa Ibom State governor, Godwill Akpabio, is the vice-chairman, South-South.

A former female APC presidential aspirant, Uju Kennedy, is the council’s vice-chairman, South-East.

Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State is the regional coordinator and chairman for North, while his Ebonyi State counterpart, David Umahi, was appointed the regional coordinator for the South-East and Ebonyi State.

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River was also appointed the regional director in charge of the South-South and his state.

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, is the zonal coordinator for the South-West and his state, while his Niger State counterpart, Abubakar Bello, will coordinate the North-Central and his state.

Also on the list are Governor Muhammed Yahaya, who is the zonal coordinator for the North-East and Gombe State, and Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, who emerged as the zonal coordinator for the North-West and the state.

No fewer than 24 actors were also enlisted in the performing arts directorate and they include notable Nollywood stars such as Zack Orji, Jide Kosoko, Saheed Balogun, Foluke Daramola, Nuhu Abdullahi, Bimbo Akintola and Fatiha Balogun, among others.

This person is a complete Olodo. The RRS was started by Buba Marwa and called "operation sweep" It was the best police unit in Nigeria then with literally all states copying it.

In Oyo it was called "Operation Gbale" and was adopted by the Military administrator then. Tinubu only came in and changed the name to RRS.

He now went to Abuja to rest, but you people still followed him there to disturb him, so he used annoyance, flew 6 hours to London, to rest.

PoliticsBREAKING: Tension In Igangan, Oyo State Community As Gunmen Attack Police Statio by happney65(op): 12:10pm On Sep 28, 2022
There is tension in the Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State as yet-to-be-identified gunmen on Tuesday night attacked Igangan Police Station, killing the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) and a suspect who was detained in the station.

A top police source in the station confirmed the incident, saying that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), an Inspector and some suspects were seriously injured with gunshots during the attack, Vanguard reports.

Also confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Adewale Osifeso, said that “The Commissioner of Police is on his way to the place. We are already in Oke Ogun as we speak. I will get back to you when we get there.”

It will be recalled that Igangan is where the Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho, evicted the Fulani leader, Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir and his people.
Igboho, who is one of the protagonists in the whole crisis of Fulani eviction, is still on trial in Cotonou, Benin Republic after he was arrested on July 19, 2021, while attempting to travel to Germany.

Since then, he has remained on trial despite efforts by some Yoruba nation agitators to secure his release.

Politics2023: Why Afenifere Won’t Support Tinubu, Atiku – Adebanjo by happney65(op): 4:59pm On Sep 26, 2022
The leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, has clarified his position on the group’s support for the Labour Party’s candidate in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, stating why the group will not support the All Progressives Congress’ candidate, Bola Tinubu, and the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

In a statement signed by Adebanjo on Monday, September 26, 2022, and made available to The PUNCH, the Afenifere leader said the group stood on justice and fairness and believed in true federalism and the Federal Character principle.

Responding to the backlash that followed his announcement of the group’s support for Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election, Adebanjo said, “…not a few Yoruba leaders questioned why I should be supporting Peter Obi, a candidate of Igbo extraction, against Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a Yoruba. I took my time to explain that the presidency is not a contest between the Yorubas and the Igbos and to a large extent I was able to convince many.

“But ever since, social media has been filled with comments tending to ethnicise the campaign instead of making it issue-based. Afenifere has, therefore, decided to address you today and through you educate the public on the ideological and equitable principles which have influenced our decision.”

Adebanjo stated that Afenifere “is the Yoruba interpretation of the social welfarist ideology of Action Group, a political party founded by Chief Obafemi Awolowo and his colleagues in 1951 with strong advocacy for federalism as the best form of government to give the federating units the requisite autonomy to thrive and peacefully compete among themselves for the ultimate development of Nigeria.”

He said other founding fathers of Nigeria — Sir Ahmadu Bello, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, and Chief Obafemi Awolowo — agreed to the system with the endorsement of colonial secretary Sir Oliver Littleton in 1954 “and embodied in the 1960 independence constitution. This is the modest contribution of Afenifere in shaping Nigeria into a federation where no person or ethnic nationality is oppressed.”

The nonagenarian said Afenifere had always advocated and insisted on restructuring of the country “long before the parties conducted their Conventions to elect their National Executives and candidates,” and had proposed “a synthesis of the identical Resolutions of the 2014 National Conference and the APC El-Rufai 2018 True Federalism Committee.”

Adebanjo said Afenifere and the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum “unanimously proposed that the minimum condition for a peaceful transition from the disastrous eight years of Buhari’s government headed by a President of northern extraction was to have the next President from the South,” a position which, he said, was supported by southern governors irrespective of their political parties.

He added, “In this quest for peace, based on equity and inclusiveness, the Yoruba took the first turn at the zoning arrangement in 1999, and that led to the emergence of Chief (Olusegun) Obasanjo, the current Vice President is a Yoruba man and equity forbids us for presuming to support another Yoruba person for the presidency in 2023.

“The current President is a Fulani from the North-West and by virtue of the zoning arrangement that has governed Nigeria since 1999, power is supposed to return to the south imminently. The

“The South-West, as I have pointed out, has produced a president and currently sits as VP, the South-South has spent a total of six years in the Presidency, but the Igbo people of the South-East have never tasted presidency in Nigeria, and now that the power is due back in the South, equity demands that it be ceded to the Igbo.

“We cannot continue to demand that the Igbo people remain in Nigeria, while we at the same time continue to brutally marginalise and exclude them from the power dynamics.”

Adebanjo, therefore, condemned the ceding of the PDP presidential ticket to “a Northern Fulani Muslim to succeed General Muhammadu Buhari, another Fulani Muslim, who will soon complete eight years of uneventful and disastrous rule. One can imagine such a high degree of political insensitivity.”

The Afenifere leader also stated that the group would not jettison equity, inclusiveness and justice just because one of their own — Asiwaju Bola Tinubu — was in the contest.

“We will not compromise this principle of justice, equity and inclusiveness because one of our own Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is a frontline candidate,” Adebanjo said.

Adebanjo, who said Afenifere had “no apologies but due courage of our conviction that Nigeria can only prosper in righteousness,” reiterated that, “To keep Nigeria one, everyone should be Obi/Datti compliant,” and advocated that that should be the slogan henceforth.

It’s quite pathetic and sympathetic seeing how old Igbo women were running for their lives. It’s even more annoying to think that Igbo boys are the ones shooting and chasing these elderly women around.

The children of these old women are in the south west enjoying the peaceful society SW leaders suffered for while still going about abusing them for doing what their own leaders cannot do.

Peter Obi Pandora will not say anything about this. It is not his business in as much as Tinubu can’t be dragged into it for political gain. Peter Obi and other Igbo leaders cannot secure his Igbo land but want to secure Nigeria. Smh!
Olodo. Is Peter obi in government? Isn't it under your government the country has run aground? Or what are you saying?
