Jobs/Vacancies › Re: FCSC: A Country Where 3rd Class Is Considered Above Msc + Bsc (2.1) by hardbody: 7:50pm On Mar 17, 2017 |
neoclassical: I woke up this morning with the news that FCSC has shortlisted lists of successful candidates in the ongoing recruitment exercise by the Commission in various Federal Ministries.
Succinctly, I have a friend who studied Business Administration with 3rd Class, while I have Msc and Bsc (2.1) all in Economics. Both of us applied for the same position (SGL 09) in the Ministry of Trade & Investment. Perhaps, to my greatest perplexity, this guy's name was shortlisted while mine was conspicuously missing. Just a few minutes ago he opened up to me that the father made "some calls" on his behalf prior to this time.
For your information, we are of the same age bracket, applied for same position, from the same State. So what criteria could have been used to disqualify someone with Msc and Bsc (2.1) and someone with a 3rd Class was selected.
Holding other factors constant, I am so happy for him and I am so expectant that mine is coming. But this has kept me in an awe position, as the whole scenario depicts lack of correlation between merit and success in this entity called Nigeria. WHAT A COUNTRY? So help me God! I have an explanation sir. You are over qualified and they believe you may be poached by the more organised and better paying organised private sector. Otherwise why? |

haneetram: Hello everyone. Our educational sector is a major sector in Nigeria and improving it should be important. I am happy that some private bodies are also assisting the government in improving the sector by providing books, and other school supplies for students. But something bothers me. Is there a change in Nigerian education system Or most Nigerian kids are now geniuses that no longer need to go through high school before entering a University? If true, that is good news but if not, please can someone explain? Some schools abroad have started denying very young students admission due to experiences of these students not being able to cater for themselves and a lot of them are Nigerians. If it is now possible to be a graduate from high school at that age, them some extra classes should be created to groom students to be mature enough and ready for what is ahead.
I try to help in ways I can. I am a medical student in china with love for education and helping people who have difficulties in school. From experience I try to share study tips, how to be productive, memorization tips and more. You can check out my YouTube channel: Teenahs Lounge . Thank you. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-y7zm6hRNcNTLIT4qBEyNg I honestly feel you. There was this girl that came to my company as an IT student. She will be graduating from the Polytechnic later this year at age 20. When she first came to the Company and was introduced to me as my IT hand, i asked her age, she said she was 17 going to 18. I rationalized that she had already done 2 or 3 years in school? And you need to see the kids in my former secondary school. Very tiny tots and I am wondering what really changed. Anyways, I can't blame them, with employers of labour reducing age qualification to 20 years post graduation before you can write job qualifying tests |

Sugardiva: Then you miss the point entirely. The issue is not the uniform per se, its his disregard for constituted authority and institutions. If he gets away with disobeying a direct request to wear his uniform from the senate then everyone will feel like they can get away with disregarding the senate. The senate then looses its power. He gives orders and expects to be obeyed but he cant take a simple one? Besides the leader of a uniform organisation should not go around in mufti. His uniform is his symbol of authority. If he feels the uniform is beneath him, he should resign. Strong point. Well articulated. I wasn't coming from that perspective. |

Ashleydolls: Nigerian men need proper orientation on the dangers of battering their wives. Some men are beast in human nature. You're meant to be her protector I completely agree with your position. However, what about the ladies that beat their husbands physically to a pulp. There is a flat down our street (when I was staying at Fola AGoro area of Shomolu), the massive lady was always pounding her husband and whenever the man extricates himself, you will see him dash out of the house and scamper across the street with the woman threatening to deal him whenever he comes back to the house. Who will fight for this class of persons |

SEYIKP: Quote me anywhere, you will surely die a disgraceful death within 3days. Because you didnt acknowledge your maker. Who did you think you can scare off with your empty threat. The only panacea for you not dieing gruesomely within 3days is to repent says the LORD OF HOST. You will serve as deterrent to your fellow atheist. For you to know that I am not issuing false a prophecy, start noting your dream from tonight, you will begin to have terrible nightmare and when you wake you will be drench in fear all through the day. Did you think is everyone that comes to nairaland to read that are ordinary people some are superhuman. You don meet your own. People should note your moniker because they will cease to see you after 3days because you will surely be dead. Chai. This is interesting ooo. But bros, if the guys doesn't die nko? abi u wan send assassins to mud him? The God I know does not kill people sha, he allows them time to gain repentance and turn to him. He said perhaps they may search for him and find although he is not far from any one of us. I also read that we should bless those that curse us and finally I read that Gideon's father's name (Jehoash or something like that) means let God fight for himself or are you now God? |

aribisala0: you are entitled to your perspective and opinion a different perspective hits at the issue of why a so called non career person is holding the post and the effect on rank and file moral. The Senate claims career officers have complained to them and they are entitled to take a position. It is not a good precedent to set or follow. If the idea is that the customs is rotten and needs reform there is nothing to suggest Ali is the man for the job in terms of ideas or style. He is not capable of meaningful strategic Change . We must see this for what it is,resistance to the idea of outsiders heading the Customs. If we are to go down that road it should have been debated and the legislative body carried along. The way it was done was too arbitrary. Who is Ali and what qualifies him for the post? Why are the people's reps not allowed toscrutinize such an unusual appointment I quite agree with you sir. It's all about perception, however i am here not dwelling on the propriety of his appointment, No. I am only concerned on the "wear and I won't wear uniform" saga, which to my mind adds no additional value to what they want to discuss, namely custom duty payments. In all I see your point. |

MrMcJay: The Jury system is practiced in the US and some other jurisdictions, but it is NOT practiced in Nigeria. In Nigeria, only the Judge rules and gives judgement in contentious matters before him in court.
To answer your questions,
1. The judge is like a legal adviser to the jury. S/he ensures that pieces of evidence adduced, witnesses summoned and testimony given are in accordance with existing laws.
2. Yes.
3. No juries in Nigeria.
4. Yes, participation is a must as it's a civic duty. However, a juror my be excused based on certain considerations.
5. No, they aren't paid. Accommodation and feeding during sequestration are taken care of by the government. Dead on point. Nothing to add. |

OK, I was high when i drew the pattern, i realized it was so complicated that I couldn't repeat it, so phone remained permanently locked. I got high again and was able to unlock it. In my madness, I did not undo that rubbish, i allowed it to lock again, till today I have continued to get high on intervals but I have not been able to unlock it again. Eventually, I flashed it and lost the songs and pics i had in there. Recall I said it was a new phone. My point? Even in patterns, be careful. |
