CharLee22: I always tell people who care to listen that the problem of religion(all religion) is the doctrine of conversion. "Live and let's live" would have been a better teaching. Why on earth do you think you have to convert anybody into anything. Why do you feel your own is the best. How much knowledge of everything do you have to have drawn up a concludion. Its even bad you have called yours best, but to go further and condemn every other belief contrary to yours is worst and and crass ignorance. We even seem to b having radical atheist these days. What are you guys trying to do? Convert religious people into your belief? Its not necessary. Lay down yout facts and let people freely decide. The enlightenment will come. In time people will realize whats best, whats the truth...Live and lets live. I wonder o |

But maybe we will start with a Seminar for freethinkers, deists, pantheists, atheists, agnostics, irreligious and with time we could consider putting christians and muslims into the picture.
what do you think? Typing is becoming more ....tiring...
Live chat will be fun Life chat with freethinkers - Fine. Life chat with christians and muslims - OYO |

kolinz: It is really not easy to serve God I must admit thats why his Grace is important in his service. I am not saying that I am too religious but there are some events that can happen in a man's life, he simply cannot say there is no God. I believe there is time for everything, nobody expects me to spend the whole of the day in church when there are things to be done.
About giving, it's not peculiar to Christians because life places the burden to give on us. If you don't give willingly someone can come begging so we can't run away from giving. And this grace you spoke about, where does it come from? |

johnydon22: they always forget this question when swimming in the fantasy of an eternal blissful paradise.
will freewill be taken away from man? then man's existence in Paradise will be nothing more than a zombie-like existence just like a robot gallivanting up and down in an infinite repetition forever... who in the world wants to live like that?
Will man also have freewill in heaven? then the same problem will occur all over again as an exercise of freewill.
and we are back again to the same show all over again.. They don't think of this. The motto is let's leave it to god. In the last day we shall know. Just serve god and make heaven |

Permit me to type this out in big bold fonts BELIEVE IN GOD IS NOT THE REQUIREMENT FOR SALVATION OF THE SOUL, BUT THE BELIEVE IN THE RIGHT GOD - Religion So keep living in your false security. DON'T FORGET, EVERY major religion claims very confidently to be the true path and don't forget "narrow is the path to salvation" what if the true religion is not even a popular one? PastorAIO: I think I get what many here have been wanting the OP to get to.
They were waiting for some traumatic event in the story of the op that would explain his change of beliefs.
Armed with such a traumatic incident they can explain away his apostasy by saying that it's an emotional reaction.
As the op told the story though it seems that it was a slow process of rational evaluation. Very unsatisfying.
Very unsatisfying. EXACTLY! Some are here scurrying for errors to pick from my profile, my posts. They are desperately looking for anything to discredit this thread. After all done and nothing tangible to hold on to, the begin to define me. If the story had been "Oh I hate god, he allowed my mother to die, I won't serve him again." They would have believed. soulpeppersoup: Take heed to what you hear, for the measure you take will be given unto you. I say take heed. Guard your heart not every story is worth reading Only lies survive that way. If the bible is the truth no need telling people to be careful what they read. No matter how much I tell you that if I cut off your head you won't die, does it make it true. No matter stories of people you read that tells you that if your head is cut off you will live, does it make it true. The bible claims to be universal truth so no need trying to protect it. Truth can protect itself |

I would be rounding up with my next post. But before that. I DID NOT OPEN THIS TOPIC TO MAKE PEOPLE DROP THEIR RELIGION This thread is only to make information available to those who need this information. I did not have the privilege of reading such a story when I was going through my identity crisis. It is to educate and make information available ONLY to those who need it. This is the story of a real person and the details given are all verifiable. I know thousands appreciate me coming out with this. If you find comfort in god all good for you. It takes a lot of courage to drop god and only very responsible people can dare it. If you are not strong and ready to take full responsible for your life and actions, pls keep your religion. Dropping religion is not a joke. No false hope to keep you going, you face reality squarely. Thanks everyone for the comments so far. I am here to have fun. I have opened some ridiculous threads in the past and I will open more in future. Not here to please anyone. Will be signing out soon. Already missing romance section were we discuss rubbish. |

HardMirror: This was an incidence that really rattled me. The big question now is, " does God answer prayers?" After all, I have seen God in action many times, I have seen him heal people so many times, I have been healed many times with out taking a single pill. How true were the so called Revelations, speaking in tongues, deliverances, healings? They were true REVELATIONS, WORD OF KNOWLEDGE and PROPHESIES (MY DISCOVERIES) I was watching TV one day and I saw John Edwards show on air. This man could communicate with the dead. It was really amazing! And he was not doing it for the glory of God. He was a celebrity. He claims it is a gift. This man could accurately reveal hidden things about people. I said to myself this man is just using demonic powers to fool people (NOTE: this is how we christians always jump into conclusion, everything most have a spiritual explanation) Some months later I saw a CIA documentary on Discovery Channel on how the CIA were paying Doctors and researchers on how to brain wash, hypnotise and control peoples minds. The documentary was really shocking! So it was possible scientifically to control peoples mind? Wow!!! I started doing more reseach into hypnotism. I had always thought it was only possible spiritually using demons and demonic techniques and that all hypnotists where agents of the devil. But I began to realize using drugs such as LSD could help in mind control through pure scientific means. What impact did this have on me? I began to wonder if all I thought was spiritual were just me doing things that were scientific unconsciously. COLD READING This was what John Edwards was using and word of knowledge operates the same way. If you prepare and develop your mind, you can read peoples history. (Watch the MENTALIST for more information). But in the case of a sincere christian, you are doing it unconsciously. You pick up cues and build on those cues. I don't want to talk too much on this as some will think I used the technique knowningly on people. But what I would tell you is I was only Cold-reading people, but I was doing it with the innocence of my heart. God does not speak, it is our minds that speaks to us, we develop a double personality the more we believe in God speaking to us. It can get to the extent of believing you even hear Him audibly. SPEAKING TONGUES is not difficult as people think. The problem is fear of saying gibbrish you don't understand. It all depends on how much faith and belief you can put into believing in the act. Believe and release yourself and you will speak in tongues. It's the easiest thing. Even easier than speaking a language you understand, because you don't have to think of what you are saying. Our brains are capable of more things we could ever imagine. |

HardMirror: CONTINUATION... My gradual loss in believe in the bible kept growing. I can say 2010 was the year I was last a christian, 2011 was the year of researching christianity and asking the important questions, 2012 I made up my mind i have had enough of being afraid of the truth.
We give a lot of excuses for god when things don't work out the way we expect and we praise god when coincidentally things fall in place.
Had another incidence in 2010 which rattled my faith. One of my favorite books was "GOD's GENERALS" and the story of Kathrine KULMAN was my favorite. I got very carried away by one of her proteges BENNY HIN and really loved his book GOOD MORNING HOLY SPIRIT. I always felt I had a similar calling to Kathrine Kulman. So marriage was something I believed won't be for me. All I wanted was to fully give myself to God. So when ever I have the opportunity, I made sure I let the Spirit work fully. Manifesting so people would know God is real and affects their reality. I never felt anything is impossible for God. So early 2010 (before the idanre Outreach), we were on outreach to Ajabuto, a farming community in Ondo state. The head of the community was a blind man and they still served idols. In fact there was an idol right in from of the community head's house.
This Outreach was a turning point in the lives of all ASF members that were involved. (We must have been more than 40 that were involved). Everyone that went on this outreach returned to futa fully convinced of the supernatural. For the first time in their lives, they were laying hands on the sick and casting out demons.
That night as the villagers gathered and I preached, many never knew what to expect. When I began giving word of knowledge and people were coming out responding. I asked the other ASF members I was with to start praying for people laying hands on them. And the whole place exploded. I remember a brother coming to meet me after the program excited and saying he could not believe he layed hands on people and they were falling and reacting to the power of God. Many ASF members that were on this outreach got baptised in the spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues. It was spectacular. It was like being in the Shangrila of the Holy Spirit.
We were confident God was ready to do anything and everything no matter how impossible it may seem.
The community head did not attend the crusade so we visited him early in the morning the next day. Remember the man was blind and had an idol at the entrance to his house.
Long story short, this man gave his life to christ that morning, abolished idol worshiping. BUT. How could we preach a God that is greater than all other gods, a God who is the Almighty, All powerful! All loving! A god we claim is better than his idol and yet leave this man blind. NO way! This man will see today! So we prayed that God should restore his sight. A simple prayer that did not work. Then we had to query the man if he lacked faith (I remember this incidence with sadness). The man was almost in tears, he kept shout ""Jesu Mogbagbo!" ("Jesus I believe!". ) Damn! "Heal me! I believe!" Seeing him in this condition asking Jesus to heal him touched me. I insisted we won't leave until he sees. We prayed and prayed and prayed. You can guess the rest. The man stayed the same.
I could not sleep the night of that day. I kept asking, "why?"
"Maybe the man lacked faith" common you can't be serious this man wanted to see badly, he wanted God to heal him. He was begging God with all his heart. "Maybe I was doing it to show off". Haba! I knew I wasn't. I felt bad for this poor man. There was absolutely no reason why God should not have healed that man. God was mute, he never told me why. Yet he promises that, "ANYTHING WE ASK IN HIS NAME SHALL BE GRANTED. ANYTHING!" "IF WE HAD FAITH LIKE A MUSTARD SEED WE WILL ASK MOUNTAINS TO BE UPROOTED AND THROWN INTO THE SEA" don't try to twist these scriptures. They are simple and straight forward, Problem is it does not work. Even if you have faith as big as pawpaw you can never command grass to be uprooted talkless of commanding mountain with mustard seed faith. God is a liar, he does not honor his promises. Deep in my heart I knew this was the answer, but I had a deep relationship with God that would never allow such to take root easily. But if God could not do this what can he now do? What was the value of his promises. His word that he has exulted above all His names?
Indeed something was wrong. I can't continue to blame myself, the devil and people for God not doing what he promises even after all criterias has been met. And most annoying is he won't even reveal why he is not honouring his word, you have to keep guessing.
Indeed something was wrong, I knew where the problem was, but it was terrifying to even think of it. So God takes glories for good things that coincidentally happens to man (hard work or coincidence), but we take the blame when God fails in his own end of the bargain This was an incidence that really rattled me. The big question now is, " does God answer prayers?" After all, I have seen God in action many times, I have seen him heal people so many times, I have been healed many times with out taking a single pill. |

Using Reverse-psychology won't help either. You try to discredit me while actually your aim is for me to give more details about myself then you would be able to determine were and how to rubbish me. I get all these tactics. You have no idea who you are dealing with.

oglalasioux: This is the most wonderful educational thread opened on nairaland since I joined this forum. Here are my contributions;
1. The Bible is a good book and Christians are good people but they are living a lie.
2. This lie was concocted by a group of people who wanted the middle east for themselves. Unfortunately their lie worked; they rake in billions of dollars every year in pilgrimages in a land that doesn't belong to them.
3. The neighbours of the Bible liars also built their own lies and today, millions of innocent lives have been lost because someone wants to marry 70 virgins in heaven.
4. Miracles, prayers, healings, tongues, dreams are all real. But have we checked their sources? What is consciousness?
Consciousness is nothing but the interactions of our brain with the electromagnetism in the universe. Our thoughts, speech and existence radiate through space at the speed of light. That's how tv, radio, cameras and telephone work. The image a camera takes, for instance, is a trillionth of a second of our existence that goes through space. People with special brains, like Albert Einstein, can see through space and time and so can people we call prophets. That's also the images we see in dreams. And that's the basis of all miracles and what we term witches and wizards.
5. Mankind simply created gods to cover their manipulations of the forces of the universe especially electromagnetism (Biblical Moses started the Jewish religion based on his knowledge of electricity).
6. So are all the African deities. They are all nothing. The graven images and sacrifices are window dressing. The real thing that happens in shrines is the chemistry of particles which activate through entanglement of subatomic particles. Any Igbo man should consider when he joined the masquerade cults; was it what you expected judging from what you were told that masquerades were as an uninitiated?
7. All religions use force and the element of fear and coercion. Christianity and Islam are at the forefront of this most cowardly act.
8. The end of days, as predicted by the religions, is actually here. It's the end of the days of ignorance!
9. I believe this thread didn't try to blackmail anyone into being an atheist. It's only out to enlighten. Not like Christianity that uses hell and afflictions to whip members into line.
10. If the OP is really genuine I urge him to seek for more truth and enlighten us more. These are things I believe too. And part of the points I am trying to make here. Many don't just have the capacity to understand unfortunately. |

Man is a jeleous being, God is, man has favourites, same as God, man makes mistakes, God does, infact recall he is a MAN OF WAR. Is this supernatural being indeed super or some myth like the roman gods The reason is simple. Man made God reason for all his imperfections. |

killsmith: Going through the comments one can simply conclude that christians are a fearful bunch who become bitter and hateful when a soul discovers the truth about religion and their beloved skydaddy....@OP, pls you need to keep updating...i'm confident some of these theists will question their beliefs when you're done....they need to be free from this self-imposed prison.... It is better they stay deluded. I don't want them to change. Imagine a world without christians. I think for now those who discover the truth should remain few. |

Ghost01: "The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully."
Like that, ko? Not the fault of God, but the people that created him |
