Goodmarlian:Lol You're funny man. America is their home. They're gonna have to strive to make it better (which they do with better results than any African country). I'm pretty sure the Native Americans didn't ask for permanent neighbours. This is 2020 not the 18th century. 2 Likes 1 Share |

afstrongest:I agree with some things but you've gone ahead of yourself here. --If you mean Nigeria being a trillion dollar economy in terms of purchasing power, Egypt is still ahead by a small margin. --Cairo, Johannesburg and Cape town all have larger economies than Lagos. Johannesburg by a very large margin. |

TV/Movies / Re: NTA Presenter Wearing Canvas And Traditional Attire by HarryDuce(m): 9:19am On May 21, 2020 |
edoairways:It's more of what we're familiar with I think. If you wear a traditional attire of some European or Asian peoples in an unusual combination, they'll probably look at you funny but dismiss it as you not being familiar with what is appropriate and what isn't. I'm not talking about suit and tie here. I think it's the same here in this situation. The elderly would even be more appalled than the younger generation. That says something. I know she was wearing something else btw and this was just a rushed attire for the on-screen broadcast. It's common. |
TV/Movies / Re: NTA Presenter Wearing Canvas And Traditional Attire by HarryDuce(m): 9:00am On May 21, 2020 |
HarunaWest:Hmmm. If we follow this line of thinking anything, any combination can become fashion just because... I don't think it has anything to do with oyibo though. Everything shouldn't be paralleled against what the oyibo man does or doesn't do. |

kiddkash:How did you come up with the bold? It's incredibly naive to assume they don't discipline their kids because they don't use whips on their children or because of a few school shooters among millions. Children are humans not goats. Laying down house rules applicable in every sphere with consequences if such rules are broken is important. What about other countries in the world? Europe? Asia? I'm not speaking against spanking your children because it'll be a waste of time. But the politians who steal, the business men that carry out corrupt practices, the law enforcement that harasses citizens, the citizen that litters, the public figures who speak against the inventions of the west as "immoral" or "satanic" but turn around to use such inventions not long after were not spared the rod as children. 2 Likes |
Culture / Re: How Many Of This Myths Were You Told? by HarryDuce(m): 10:53pm On May 19, 2020 |
Well, I would consider these to be myths but others might not. --Whistling at night was prohibited in my house by my mum and Grandma. "It is the devil's language" "It attracts evil spirits and they might answer" they said. --Crows/Owls screaming or hooting on your roof meant death was lurking . I never saw this one. Not my cup of tea |

•Sex education is like a taboo subject. Many Nigerian parents assume their children will act exactly how they think children should act when it comes to sex. This is mostly not the case. You have to educate your children on sex matters. •Many Nigerian/African parents don't know the difference between discipline and punishment/abuse. They brag to their children about the injuries they received from their parents like it's some kind of legacy and how they wouldn't bat an eyelid when they'd inflict the same on their children. Spare the rod and spoil the child is the usual rethoric. 13 Likes |

I think you should just stay put as many have stated. Life is hard. Unless you think you can't stay anymore then good luck to you. Parents can be like that sometimes. Don't think too much of it. I can't help it but something in me suspects that this is an advertisement for opera news. 1 Like 1 Share |

There's no surprise there. Whenever South Africa and Nigeria are mentioned in the same breath these days, it's rarely about something positive. Its always about rivalry or xenophobia or drugs. Google just mirrors that. 1 Like |
Politics / Re: The Eastern Region Series : The COR Movement by HarryDuce(m): 8:23pm On May 12, 2020 |
You see, to be nostalgic gives one a fleeting moment of peace sometimes. Only sometimes. pazienza:Interesting word there. "Intrigues" There were often innate fears and cries of Igbo domination by significant members of the minorities who usually called for creation of a minority region from the Eastern region. These demands led the colonial government to constitute the Willink commission of 1957 whose aim was to look into the grievances of the minorities and offer a recommendation.Well, those fears were not unfounded after all. Case in point, the Biafran war. Why were the minorities considered to be sabateurs even before there was any form of that( There was none by the way)? Why were they forcefully conscripted to fight in the Biafran war? Arrogance on the path of the Biafran leaders? This was barely a decade after the Willinks commission. You can say they were foresighted (which they were). You just don't understand Nigeria from a minority perspective. It's useless painting the defunct eastern region as a place of utmost understanding and brotherhood. It really wasn't. 2 Likes |
Travel / Re: Abike Dabiri-Erewa: Chinese Don’t Want Africans In China by HarryDuce(m): 7:49pm On May 12, 2020 |
jrusky:I understand exactly what you're saying. I'm sure you're familiar with how things were just after independence; I mean the low miserable poverty rate and how these same Asians came over here in their numbers for better opportunities and not the other way around. That is not the case today. Dictatorial leadership did not make the country desirable at that period. On that I'm sure you can agree (or maybe not). Anyway my point is that if African leaders don't develop their countries, they'd just be puffing air whenever they think they're setting their foot down. Magufuli fits your description of a sure footed leader. But Tanzania is weak in the scheme of things so it doesn't matter. They still run to the West and China for loans after all. What Africans need to do is to develop themselves and endorse pragmatic leadership. We need to be realistic. There will always be racism. It's better Africans take themselves away from the end of the stick and focus on other things. 1 Like |

jrusky:It's good for African countries to have sure footed leaders, but on the other hand it's unwise to miss deplorables such as those you've listed (except Gaddaff maybe). Don't let ego or emotions determine anything for you. Those men are among the most bástard thieving foōls to ever plague the African continent. We need leaders that would focus entirely on the development of their people to the standard of the rest of the world. No development, no respect. These things go hand in hand. |

Fixing the country is the only solution. Wailing for sympathy from every other country in the world is a waste of time. As long as Nigeria is in this shitty state and continues to export undesirables, we will be treated like sh!t. 4 Likes |
