Are our leaders not stupid? |
Although Asari is deflecting, and being a hypocrite that he is, we all know what he's means. Imagine making enough money year-in year-out to finance a budget with change to spare and we still borrow. Talk about a nation doomed to corruption. |
So, what's the hold up in this century? No evolving with the times? Anyway, what my eyes focused in is the expenditure for education. I'm sure everyone can see the outcome. |
Hmph... ooh. Many "Christians" in this part of the world don't have personal relationship with God; they don't study their Bibles and instead, wait for second hand translation of the Bible from their pastors. What is my own sef, the gullible will still be gullible regardless. |
This government is just funny. "bla bla... moves to end DSTV monopoly" What?!? How about fixing the economy? the naira? poverty? electricity? Or Are these secondary issues now? Bunch of opinionated retards leading this country further astray. |
Igbochief001:Epileptic Power supply is a major reason companies like Unilever and Michelin moved to Ghana man. There are many companies/businesses that rely heavily on power supply. There are also numerous possibilities for business ventures when there's constant electricity. We don't know this because our power supply is appalling. Considering the fact that fuel scarcity is a thing in Nigeria, Business people need to be pragmatic. It's the only way they can stay afloat. |
EVILFOREST:The bold is not entirely accurate. Every state in Nigeria reserves some jobs exclusively for indigenes with the exception of Lagos state. There are MANY non indigenes in the employ of Rivers State government mainly in the civil service and state hospitals. |
What about the unknown"thugs" of Katsina, Sokoto and Kaduna? They've been causing havoc of late in their respective locations. What about the ones in Borno? |
mosegifted:When innocent people are scammed of their hard earned cash, they don't really care about sensitive information of whatever form. They've been scammed of their money. That's all that bothers them. Nigerians are overly represented in this aspect regardless of what you think. Nigerian scammers are hardly after "classified information" and that makes all the difference. |
chigoziri2403:Jealousy? Jealous of what exactly... |
They're just chasing clout to be honest. The societal degradation in Nigeria is so much that defenders of criminal vices are now gaining traction more than actual sane voices. I really don't care about "face saving" as long as there are Nigerian criminals and undesirables abroad in their numbers and multiplying. We need to work on ourselves. |
Obasanjo did us strong thing in this regard. Ceding out territories as they ask. |
The first guy sounds like he's reminiscing a sexual fantasy. I'm not judging. God heal him. I don't want to dismiss the second guy's claim of sexual harassment (he didn't even use that phrase), but I really don't see how he was raped. Let the appropriate authorities look into it and bring justice to the affected. God heal them all. |
Bendeco2020:Thank you! Many comments on This thread don't even make sense. Someone is proud that black people are going to populate America for that reason alone. No substance. No innovation. Just exist. That's just living a false reality. |

Besides the over simplified narrative, what else got your attention? "They taught Europeans how to bathe.." ? I mean, I expect people to pause and consider this statement. How much is it based on reality? What about the Roman empire that had bath houses long before the invasion of the Moors in southern Spain? Africans just swallowed the narrative that feels good to them. You can go to the Twitter handle to read more tweets from many other Africans swallowing the narrative of said tweet and not really questioning anything. Now you can consider my reaction to this tweet as being "pc" or "as$ licking", but in what way exactly does this help the black man discover himself? Whether or not the Moors were as dark as the Sudanese or had broad noses is not really my concern as it is to many Africans, but a lot of black people who revel in ancient history of faraway established societies just do so for the thrill of having "black" attached. They don't really care if said narrative is accurate neither do they care about details. A click bait heading would do the trick. |
This rant is inspired by a tweet I came across a few days ago. Africafactszone is what it's called. By the name of the Twitter handle you should have gathered what it is all about. They do post legit stuff on a regular basis though, I'd give them that. Back on track. I came across a tweet that normally wouldn't rouse any feeling from me. I have come across several of such tweets in many forms on different platforms. Normally, I'd just read and move along but I had to pause on this particular one.

"Ijaw youths said..." Where is your source? A random person would say something on social media, it now translates to Ijaw youths. Mtcheeww |
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the platform nairaland works on does not really allow much flexibility? Anyway, moving on; *Create more sections to cater for the ever expanding user base. Not everyone here is Nigerian. Not everyone here cares about politics or romance or celebrities. Nairaland has gone really big. *A dislike option in some sections. |
You made very good points although I don't entirely agree with everything you've stated. The East Asians are still discriminated against, sure. The Indians and Arabs and others as well; But the thing is, all of this discrimination is in opposition to blackness. The closer you are to being white and affirming to Western/European values, the more respect you get from people all over the world. This is just a general rule (sadly). Japan and South Korea are two very successful nations that hardly export undesirables. No matter how "developed", "rich", "civilised" they are, someone from a less developed "White" country would get more respect than they would in many countries in a similar outlook. The mind is a strong contributing factor as well. Slavery --and poverty-- over several centuries in Arabia, East Asia and the Americas have left a lasting impression in the cultures of many. Many people think that white is always right including and not restricted to black people. Rich Black/Asians are not left out. I think In addition to accumulating wealth, black people need to have a very positive impact on the world that is visible and lasting to every creed. This is the most important thing in my opinion. |
babakb:He's not. "No African" is a broad generalisation. Zambia, Kenya, Namibia, South Africa beg to differ. |
Gordieshegz:The bold is obviously wrong. Since you didn't bother to do your research there's no point for me to stress it further. |
You'd realise soon enough that Nigeria doesn't take many things seriously including what you've written up there. Buhari's speech was just that -- a speech. Nigeria is as uninterested in her neighbours as the day is bright. |
None. I am close to none and at the same time I'm as close to everyone of them as I can be. I don't see myself being closer to my parents than I already am. I don't think we're as close as many parents and children appear to be, but my best is where I'm at. I'm comfortable with it. My siblings? I'm closer to the ones that are not too far in age from me. The closeness is less restricted. I'm close to my elder siblings as well and we don't talk about somethings, but we're close as I can tolerate. We're all good. |
Yemialade:Oh you'll come back (even if it's just for visits as expected). This is just a momentary outburst many people in your shoes consider. They never quite go through with it. You'd realise some things are more important than others as you age. If my parents did something like this to me it'll get on my nerves for sure. Just bear in mind that they're your parents and they mean well. Maybe they're still looking at you as a helpless child; they want you to turn out as they've imagined. It might've been so in their generation but things have changed now. I think you should indulge them as much as you can and are willing to so they'll give you a breather and not ask the same things over and over again. Don't think you've got your life figured out totally by the way. Surprises happen. Cheers. |
athaboi:Schools are a different matter. I don't think they'll open soon. Too many risks. |
Hmmm. For what it's worth, many people don't live their lives thinking about what the black man or white man does on a daily basis. This feels more like an anti Trump triade than what the heading implies. And it is true that many Africans are misguided on what they think Trump stands for. It pains my heart to witness such massive scale brain washing, but the vote is ultimately up to the American people. I personally don't fancy Biden. It would serve Africans better if they fix up their countries so it would be desirable for blacks across the world. |
