Just another joke and of course additional waste of national funds.

My husband is almost completely hopeless at doing the ‘manly’ things in the house. Even the simple ones he can do like changing the light bulbs, he won’t do until I nag, nag and nag. I do probably up to 90% of those things and the ones I’m not willing to do, we pay someone to do it.

Mowing the lawn? It does not happen until I nag nag nag. This year, we paid someone to do it for us. Split the payment 50/50. Shikena. grin Same for clearing our snow. After the first year of our driveway being the most unkept in the neighbourhood, we were glad to pony up the money for the snow clearing company!

Plumbing work? Na me and google dey do am.

Car breaks down? No one’s looking under no hood. Straight to mechanic. He takes his car, I take mine.

Hearing a noise outside in the dark? He will do a cursory look after I blast him for not looking. I will often go and check again!!!

My husband is a good cook and cooks at least 50% of the time, often more.

Funny thing is the CEO at my new job is the exact same way. Not a single technical bone in his body. His wife does it all!

I also have to say that these manly chores come up at far less of a frequency than cooking and cleaning so IMO even if the guy does the bulk of them, he has not contributed fairly to the work of the house yet!!!
I think I may have married your husband 'brother'.
My husband cannot fix simple electrical things that I can do, he doesn't even do a check of faulty equipments; he just calls the technicians.

I honestly cannot believe some people's comments here!
I wish I had time to reply to some really silly comments but work comes first.

I have been well advised by some really intelligent people here especially the working mothers amongst us and I am working on those tips.

I advise people like Freshcvv and Mutter to stick to the topic and quit the insult. Just offer ways you have coped or seen people cope; lets act like adults, please.

@Freshcvv
I do have a plan B; that's the reason I married my husband. Put that in your pipe and smoke it! tongue

Hope the new uniform will inspire them and cause positive change in their attitude. So that it won't turn out to be a case of 'wash monkey, baff money; monkey na monkey'.

I agree with you Queensmith.
I wonder why men can't help out more with chores, it will help their wives a lot.

Anyway, I spoke with my husband yesterday and he has agreed to help out more and he suggested buying our dinner on our way back from work most evenings.

As for the suggestion to move closer to my place of work, that might not go down well as we don't pay any rent now but if we move we have to pay rent and it will be far for him. We work at two different ends of Lagos and I moved in to his end after the marriage. I leave home at 5am and get back at 9pm.

We have plans to move to somewhere in between as soon as we can afford it.

I am glad that so many other women find this juggling of career and wife thing stressful. As for the super women who say its a piece of cake, KUDOS! I guess domestic chores is your area of strength.
HealthRe: 3million Nigerians currently infected with HIV/AIDS - NACA by hbabe(f): 6:26pm On Feb 15, 2012
Sad news!
We all should be determined to play safe and save our generation. Stick to a single partner and if you must 'stray' use protection.

I was shocked to learn that some Nigerians believe washing up after sex prevents HIV infection; and these are literate people!

Sit your husband down and let him see why you need help . . . It is more joyful when you could do all these things together as well as take lesser time, and you would be able to spend quality time together.
Also, like other have suggested, try and cook enuf for the week, put them in the fridge and you just use the service of a microwave all week long.
Thanks, I will talk to him tonight and hope he takes it in well.

I tried that bulk cooking but I just end up spending my whole weekend cooking and stocking. Will I ever have time for myself?

I am based in Lagos, I resume 8am and close officially at 5pm but don't get to leave the office till 6.30pm. No kids yet.

agiboma:
Have you tried cooking and freezing teh food so that you can defrost it daily and try to save some time.
I have tried that but it is still stressful.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria’s Ex-leader, Buhari Ejected Over Unpaid N20m Rent by hbabe(f): 5:05pm On Feb 14, 2012
I am shocked that Buhari not put plans in place for the renewal of his rent before he moved into a N20m house.  I hope this is not just a strategy to make him look like a saint in the eyes of Nigerians.
I don't beleive this story sha!

PoliticsRe: Special Adviser To President On Inter-governmental Affairs Showing Off Tattoo by hbabe(f): 2:18pm On Feb 09, 2012
apocalypse:
Does the dress affect her work. If you say the dress is not ideal for the corporate world is the tattoo ideal then.

Ladies what she has displayed ( her tattoo and dress ) isn't proper for her position.
Are you suggested she gets rid of her tattoo?
The tattoo was there before she was appointed so if you think Nigeria should make a law against appointment of people with tattoo into public office, then feel free to say so.
My grandmother has a similar tattoos on her, so I think it is a traditional tattoo women used to put on their bodies decades ago.
PhonesRe: How Much Can You Pay For This Phone? by hbabe(f): 6:11pm On Feb 08, 2012
Total waste of money in my opinion but then I am not as rich as those who buy this type of phone. Why not buy a regular phone and use the money left for some good course.

I enjoyed reading the posts on the thread and I found most of them hilarious.  Got me laughing my butt off in the office.

This was the funniest. grin grin

I re-looked and re-looked the picture, this is my conclusion the woman is a Jezebel  daughter grin grin grin she look like AYAMATANGA!!
I just can't stop laughing o.

@topic
While her tattoo may not affect her work, her poor dress sense leaves much to be desired.  Showing off so much arm and arm-pit to all and sundry is not very ideal in a corporate world.  Too casual for an official outing with the Mr. President.
